Nucleation mechanisms of dynamic recrystallization in Inconel 625 superalloy deformed with different strain rates显示文摘The effects of strain rates on the hot working characteristics and nucleation mechanisms of dynamic recrystallization (DRX) were studied by optical microscopy and electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD) technique. Hot compression tests were conducted using a Gleeble-1500 simulator at a true strain of 0.7 in the temperature range of 1000 to 1150 °C and strain rate range of 0.01 to 10.00 s-1. It is found that the size and volume fraction of the DRX grains in hot-deformed Inconel 625 superalloy firstly decrease and then increase with increasing strain rate. Meanwhile, the nucleation mechanism of DRX is closely related to the deformation strain rate due to the deformation thermal effect. The discontinuous DRX (DDRX) with bulging of original grain boundaries is the primary nucleation mechanism of DRX, while the continuous DRX (CDRX) with progressive subgrain rotation acts as a secondary nucleation mechanism. The twinning formation can activate the nucleation of DRX. The effects of bulging of original grain boundaries and twinning formation are firstly gradually weakened and then strengthened with the increasing strain rate due to the deformation thermal effect. On the contrary, the effect of subgrain rotation is firstly gradually strengthened and then weakened with the increasing strain rate. | Guo, Qingmiao Li, Defu Peng, Haijian Guo, Shengli Hu, Jie Du, Peng | 2012 | Rare Metals2012,31,3: | 8

Musk secretion in muskrats(Ondatra zibethicus L.):association with lipid and cholesterol metabolism-related pathways显示文摘Male muskrats(Ondatra zibethicus L.)secrete musk from their scent glands during musk secretion season.Musk plays an important role as a communication pheromone during the breeding season. In this study, gas chromatography–mass spectrometry(GC–MS)was used to analyze the main components of musk. The GC–MS results after methyl esterification showed that 71.55%of the musk is composed of fatty acids. The other components of muskrat musk include cholesterol(9.31%)and other organics.Transcriptome comparison between musk secretion and non-secretion seasons showed significant changes in the scent glands for 53 genes involved in fatty acid and cholesterol synthesis and metabolism regulatory pathways, which include fatty acid biosynthesis, elongation, and metabolism;steroid biosynthesis;steroid hormone biosynthesis pathways.A reverse transcription–polymerase chain reaction analysis confirmed these detected changes.Overall, our results indicated that lipid synthesis and metabolism play important roles in musk compound synthesis by providing energy for musk production, and the produced musk provides a mechanism for male muskrats to communicate with females during the breeding season. | TIANXIANG ZHANG MEISHAN ZHANG MINGHUI SHI WEIJIANG JIN SHUMIAO ZHANG MENGYUAN FAN YIMENG LI YUPING MENG XUELIN TIAN SHUQIANG LIU DEFU HU | 2021 | BIOCELL2021,45,2: | 2

Microsatellite and mitochondrial DNA assessment of the genetic diversity of captive Saiga antelopes(Saiga tatarica) in China显示文摘To estimate the genetic diversity of the only captive Saiga antelope(Saiga tatarica) population in China,40 umbilical cord samples were collected and mitochondrial(control region) and nuclear(microsatellite) variabilities were assessed. Both of the markers revealed low genetic variability(or high genetic homogeneity) within the population. The microsatellites yielded monitoring ranges of 2-6 alleles. The observed heterozygosities ranged from 0.28 to 0.83,and the expected heterozygosities were between 0.27 and 0.71.The Shannon information index(Shannon I) and Polymorphic Information Content(PIC) presented overall means of 0.87 and 0.43,respectively.The gene diversity was 0.49.We found only two haplotypes in the population, and the haplotype and nucleotide diversities were 39.1% and 1.13%,respectively.Founder events, bottlenecks and inbreeding have contributed to the low genetic variation observed in this population. Our findings revealed the extent of genetic diversity maintained in the present population and the urgency of implementing a protection plan, introducing animals from other populations to enhance saiga's genetic variation. | ZHAO ShaSha XU ChaoQun LIU Gang LIU ShuQiang ZHAO ChongXue CUI YaXiong HU DeFu | 2013 | Chinese Science Bulletin2013,58,17: | 1
Metagenomics reveals contrasting energy utilization efficiencies of captive and wild camels(Camelus ferus)显示文摘Captive conditions can affect the symbiotic microbiome of animals. In this study,we compared the structural and functional differences of the gastrointestinal microbiomes of wild Bactrian camels(Camelus ferus)between wild and captive populations,as well as their different host energy utilization performances through metagenomics. The results showed that wild-living camels harbored more microbial taxa related to the production of volatile fatty acids, fewer methanogens, and fewer genes encoding enzymes involved in methanogenesis, leading to higher energy utilization efficiency compared to that of captive-living camels. These findings suggest that the wild-living camel fecal microbiome demonstrates a series of adaptive characteristics that enable the host to adjust to a relatively barren field environment. Our study provides novel insights into the mechanisms of wildlife adaptations to habitats from the perspective of the microbiome. | Liping YAN Liping TANG Zhichao ZHOU Wei LU Bo WANG Zhicheng SUN Xue JIANG Defu HU Junqing LI Dong ZHANG | 2022 | Integrative Zoology2022,17,3: | 0
Characterization of intestinal microbiota and fecal cortisol,T3,and IgA in forest musk deer(Moschus berezovskii)from birth to weaning显示文摘Analysis of the intestinal microbiota and physiological parameters in mammalian infancy can reveal health status. In this study,we used a combination of molecular and immunochemical approaches to assess fecal microbiota as well as Cortisol(Cor),Triiodothyronine(T3),and immunoglobulin A(IgA)levels of young forest musk deer(FMD),from birth to one month after weaning(7 days of age–110 days of age).During development as the diet of FMD changes from consuming milk to eating plants, the richness and diversity of intestinal microbiota of young FMD increased significantly.Cor levels remained unchanged throughout early development while significantly increased after weaning,T3 and IgA initially were derived from milk during lactation, significantly decreased after weaning.Correlation network analysis showed that the community of food-oriented microbes were highly structured and that many genera were correlated.Overall, this study provides scientific insights into effective management strategies for the protection of FMD population. | Yimeng LI Tianxiang ZHANG Minghui SHI Baofeng ZHANG Xin HU Shanghua XU Jianhong DING Shuqiang LIU Defu HU Daniel RUBENSTEIN | 2021 | Integrative Zoology2021,16,3: | 0
