| 2 | Hydroxytryptamine transporter gene-linked polymorphic region(5HTTLPR)is associated with delusions in Alzheimer’s disease显示文摘Background:Serotoninergic pathways underlying delusion symptoms in Alzheimer’s disease(AD)have not been fully clarified.5-Hydroxytryptamine transporter gene-linked polymorphic region(5-HTTLPR)is a variable number tandem repeats in the promoter region of serotonin transporter encoding-gene affecting transcription.Methods:We investigated the association of 5-HTTLPR with delusions in a total of 257 consecutive patients clinically diagnosed as AD according to the National Institute on Aging-Alzheimer’s Association criteria.All participants underwent a comprehensive evaluation with a standardized comprehensive geriatric assessment and Neuropsychiatric Inventory.Results:Delusion symptoms were observed in 171 patients(66.54%).In respect to AD patients without delusions,AD patients with delusions showed a low prevalence of S-plus carriers(5-HTTLPR-L/S+5-HTTLPR-S/S genotypes)[p<0.001;odds ratio(OR)=0.240,95% confidence interval(CI)=0.121–0.471].Logistic regression analysis adjusted for the apolipoprotein E polymorphism showed that in AD patients with delusions the presence of an 5-HTTLPR-S allele may reduce disease duration(p=0.005;OR=0.680,95% CI=0.522–0.886)and increase aberrant motor activity(p=0.013;OR=2.257,95% CI=1.195–4.260).The present findings suggested that 5-HTTLPR might be associated with delusions in AD.S-plus carriers might be associated with protective effect against delusions in AD.Conclusions:More studies on wider samples of high selected demented patients are needed to confirm our results.However,the present findings suggested that a genetic factor related to serotonin metabolism might exert a protective role on the clinical expression of neuropsychiatric clusters in AD with important implications regarding mechanisms underlying delusions and their possible treatment across the AD and dementia spectrum. | Grazia D’Onofrio Francesco Panza Daniele Sancarlo Michele Lauriola Mariangela P.Dagostino Giulia Paroni Madia Lozupone Antonio Mangiacotti Paola Bisceglia Carolina Gravina Maria Urbano Filomena Addante Francesco Paris Leandro Cascavilla Antonio Greco Davide Seripa | 2019 | Translational Neurodegeneration2019,8,1: | 2 |

| 7 | Negative association between trunk fat, insulin resistance and skeleton in obese women显示文摘AIM: To evaluate the potential interference of trunk fat (TF) mass on metabolic and skeletal metabolism. METHODS: In this cross-sectional study, 340 obese women (mean age: 44.8 ± 14 years; body mass index: 36.0 ± 5.9 kg/m 2 ) were included. Patients were evaluated for serum vitamin D, osteocalcin (OSCA), inflammatory markers, lipids, glucose and insulin (homeostasis model assessment of insulin resistance, HOMA-IR) levels, and hormones profile. Moreover, all patients underwent measurements of bone mineral density (BMD;at lumbar and hip site) and body composition (lean mass, total and trunk fat mass) by dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry. RESULTS: Data showed that: (1) high TF mass was inversely correlated with low BMD both at lumbar (P < 0.001) and hip (P < 0.01) sites and with serum vitamin D (P < 0.0005), OSCA (P < 0.0001) and insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1; P < 0.0001) levels; (2) a positive correlation was found between TF and HOMA-IR (P < 0.01), fibrinogen (P < 0.0001) and erythrocyte sedimentation rate (P < 0.0001); (3) vitamin D levels were directly correlated with IGF-1 (P < 0.0005), lumbar (P < 0.006) and hip (P < 0.01) BMD; and (4) inversely with HOMA-IR (P < 0.001) and fibrinogen (P < 0.0005). Multivariate analysis demonstrated that only vitamin D was independent of TF variable. CONCLUSION: In obese women, TF negatively correlates with BMD independently from vitamin D levels. | 9 | Probabilistic seismic response and uncertainty analysis of continuous bridges under near-fault ground motions显示文摘Performance-based seismic design can generate predictable structure damage result with given seismic hazard.However,there are multiple sources of uncertainties in the seismic design process that can affect desired performance predictability.This paper mainly focuses on the effects of near-fault pulse-like ground motions and the uncertainties in bridge modeling on the seismic demands of regular continuous highway bridges.By modeling a regular continuous bridge with OpenSees software,a series of nonlinear dynamic time-history analysis of the bridge at three different site conditions under near-fault pulse-like ground motions are carried out.The relationships between different Intensity Measure(IM)parameters and the Engineering Demand Parameter(EDP)are discussed.After selecting the peak ground acceleration as the most correlated IM parameter and the drift ratio of the bridge column as the EDP parameter,a probabilistic seismic demand model is developed for near-fault earthquake ground motions for 3 different site conditions.On this basis,the uncertainty analysis is conducted with the key sources of uncertainty during the finite element modeling.All the results are quantified by the'swing'base on the specific distribution range of each uncertainty parameter both in near-fault and far-fault cases.All the ground motions are selected from PEER database,while the bridge case study is a typical regular highway bridge designed in accordance with the Chinese Guidelines for Seismic Design of Highway Bridges.The results show that PGA is a proper IM parameter for setting up a linear probabilistic seismic demand model;damping ratio,pier diameter and concrete strength are the main uncertainty parameters during bridge modeling,which should be considered both in near-fault and far-fault ground motion cases. | Hai-Bin MA Wei-Dong ZHUO Davide LAVORATO Camillo NUTI Gabriele FIORENTINO Giuseppe Carlo MARANO Rita GRECO Bruno BRISEGHELLA | 2019 | Frontiers of Structural and Civil Engineering2019,13,6: | 0 |
| 10 | Comparison of Cardiorespiratory and Metabolic Responses Between Kettlebell Half Marathon and Treadmill Running at the Same Average Oxygen Consumption: A Case Study显示文摘Purposes In kettlebell sport(KS)half marathon,the lift of the kettlebell is required for the highest number of repetitions in 30 min.No data are available on cardiorespiratory and metabolic responses during this exercise routine.The aim of the study was to evaluate cardiopulmonary and metabolic responses to KS half marathon compared to 30 min treadmill running,chosen as a reference paradigm of aerobic exercise,at the same average oxygen consumption(VO_(2)).Methods A male elite KS athlete was enrolled in two trials separated by 7 days of rest.In the first trial,one-hand long-cycle KS exercise with a 1/3 body weight kettlebell was performed for 30 min(kettlebell half marathon,KT);in the second trial,30 min treadmill running(TR)was performed at the same average VO2 measured in the first trial(speed 9-10 km/h at 1°uphill inclination).Metabolic and cardiopulmonary assessments[respiratory exchange ratio(RER),tidal volume(TV),breathing frequency(f),minute ventilation(VE)],blood lactate(BL)kinetics,heart rate(HR),and blood pressure(BP)were measured in both experimental sessions.Results The average VO_(2) was 33.3 mL/min/kg in KT and 30.6 mL/min/kg in TR.The subject achieved RER_(peak) 1.17,RER_(mean) 0.98,HR_(peak) 172 bpm(94% HR_(max)),HR_(mean) 86% of HR_(max),BP_(peak) 220/100 mmHg in KT,BL_(peak) 7.2 mmol/L(during trial)in KT and RER_(peak) 1.13,RER_(mean) 0.89,HR_(peak) 142 bpm(78%HR_(max)),HR_(mean) 70% of HR_(max),BP_(peak) 160/80 mmHg,BL_(peak) 3.5 mmol/L(4 min after trial)mmol/L in TR.Conclusion Data indicate that a KS half marathon determines much higher cardiopulmonary and metabolic responses to treadmill running performed at similar VO_(2). | Davide Greco Luca Calanni Giuseppe Cerullo Massimo Negro Giuseppe D’Antona | 2021 | Journal of Science in Sport and Exercise2021,3,4: | 0 |
