1The acidic tumor microenvironment: a target for smart cancer nano-theranostics显示文摘The acidic tumor microenvironment(TME), which mainly results from the high glycolytic rate of tumor cells, has been characterized as a hallmark of solid tumors and found to be a pivotal factor participating in tumor progression. Recently, due to the increasing understanding of the acidic TME, it has been shown that the acidic TME could be utilized as a multifaceted target during the design of various pH-responsive nanoscale theranostic platforms for the precise diagnosis and effective treatment of cancers. In this article,we will give a focused overview on the latest progress in utilizing this characteristic acidic TME as the target of nano-theranostics to enable cancer-specific imaging and therapy. 2Microcalorimetric investigation of effect of berberine alkaloids from Coptis chinensis Franch on intestinal diagnostic flora growth显示文摘The inhibitory effect of three berberine alkaloids (BAs) from Coptis chinensis Franch, a traditional Chinese medicinal (TCM) herb, on Bifidobacterium adolescentis growth was investigated by micro- calorimetry. The power-time curves of B. adolescentis with and without BAs were acquired, meanwhile the extent and duration of inhibitory effect on the metabolism were evaluated by the growth rate con- stant (k), half inhibitory ratio (IC50), maximum heat-output power (Pmax), peak time of maximum heat-output power (tp) and total heat production (Qt). k, Pmax and Qt decreased, and tp was prolonged with the increase of BAs concentration. The IC50 of BAs is 806 μg/mL for berberine, 341 μg/mL for cop- tisine and 236 μg/mL for palmatine. The sequence of antimicrobial activity of BAs is berberine < cop- tisine < palmatine. Combined with previous studies, it could be shown that the sequences of antim- icrobial activity of BAs on both Bacillus shigae and Escherichia coli are berberine > coptisine > pal- matine. The structure-function relationship of BAs indicates that the functional group methylenedioxy or methoxyl at C2 and C3 might be the major group inducing the activities of BAs on E. coli and B. adolescentis. 3Added Value of Quantitative Apparent Diffusion Coefficients for Identifying Small Hepatocellular Carcinoma from Benign Nodule Categorized as LI-RADS 3 and 4 in Cirrhosis显示文摘Background and Aims:Correct identification of small hepa-tocellular carcinomas(HCCs)and benign nodules in cirrhosis remains challenging,quantitative apparent diffusion coeffi-cients(ADCs)have shown potential value in characterization of benign and malignant liver lesions.We aimed to explore the added value of ADCs in the identification of small(≤3 cm)HCCs and benign nodules categorized as Liver Imag-ing Reporting and Data System(LI-RADS)3(LR-3)and 4(LR-4)in cirrhosis.Methods:Ninety-seven cirrhosis patients with 109 small nodules(70 HCCs,39 benign nodules)of LR-3 and 4 LR-4 based on major and ancillary magnetic resonance imaging features were included.Multiparametric quantitative ADCs of the lesions,including the mean ADC(ADCmean),min-imum ADC(ADCmin),maximal ADC(ADCmax),ADC standard deviation(ADCstd),and mean ADC value ratio of lesion-to-liv-er parenchyma(ADCratio)were calculated.Regarding the joint diagnosis,a nomogram model was plotted using multivariate logistic regression analysis.The performance was assessed using the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve(AUC).Results:The ADCmean,ADCmin,ADCratio,and ADCstd were significantly associated with the identification of small HCC and benign nodules(p<0.001).For the joint diagnosis,the LI-RADS category(odds ratio[OR]=12.50),ADCmin(OR=0.14),and ADCratio(OR=0.12)were identified as independent factors for distinguishing HCCs from benign nodules.The joint nomogram model showed good calibration and discrimination,with a C-index of 0.947.Compared with the LI-RADS category alone,this nomogram model demon-strated a significant improvement in diagnostic performance,with AUC increasing from 0.820 to 0.967(p=0.001).Con-clusions:The addition of quantitative ADCs could improve the identification of small HCC and benign nodules catego-rized as LR-3 and 4 LR-4 in patients with cirrhosis.Xi Zhong Hongsheng Tang Tianpei Guan Bingui Lu Chuangjia Zhang Danlei Tang Jiansheng Li Shuzhong Cui 2022Journal of Clinical and Translational Hepatology2022,10,1:6
4Uptake of graphene enhanced the photophosphorylation performed by chloroplasts in rice plants显示文摘New and enhanced functions were potentially imparted to the plant organelles after interaction with nanoparticles.In this study,we found that∼44%and∼29%of the accumulated graphene in the rice leaves passively transported to the chloroplasts and thylakoid,respectively,significantly enhanced the fluorescence intensity of chloroplasts,and promoted about 2.4 times higher adenosine triphosphate production than that of controls.The enhancement of graphene on the photophosphorylation was ascribed to two reasons:One is that graphene facilitates the electron transfer process of photosystem II in thylakoid,and the other is that graphene protects the photosystem II against photo-bleaching by acting as a scavenger of reactive oxygen species.Overall,our work here confirmed that graphene translocating in the thylakoid promoted the photosynthetic activity of chloroplast in vivo and in vitro,providing new opportunities for designing biomimetic materials to enhance the solar energy conversion systems,especially for repairing or increasing the photosynthesis activity of the plants grown under stress environment.Kun Lu Danlei Shen Shipeng Dong Chunying Chen Sijie Lin Shan Lu Baoshan Xing Liang Mao 2020Nano Research2020,13,12:4

6Pathological features of COVID-19-associated lung injury:a preliminary proteomics report based on clinical samples显示文摘The COVID-19 pandemic has emerged as a global health emergency due to its association with severe pneumonia and relative high mortality.However,the molecular characteristics and pathological features underlying COVID-19 pneumonia remain largely unknown.To characterize molecular mechanisms underlying COVID-19 pathogenesis in the lung tissue using a proteomic approach,fresh lung tissues were obtained from newly deceased patients with COVID-19 pneumonia.After virus inactivation,a quantitative proteomic approach combined with bioinformatics analysis was used to detect proteomic changes in the SARS-CoV-2-infected lung tissues.We identified significant differentially expressed proteins involved in a variety of fundamental biological processes including cellular metabolism,blood coagulation,immune response,angiogenesis,and cell microenvironment regulation.Several inflammatory factors were upregulated,which was possibly caused by the activation of NF-κB signaling.Extensive dysregulation of the lung proteome in response to SARS-CoV-2 infection was discovered.Our results systematically outlined the molecular pathological features in terms of the lung response to SARS-CoV-2 infection,and provided the scientific basis for the therapeutic target that is urgently needed to control the COVID-19 pandemic.Ling Leng Ruiyuan Cao Jie Ma Danlei Mou Yunping Zhu Wei Li Luye Lv Dunqin Gao Shikun Zhang Feng Gong Lei Zhao Bintao Qiu Haiping Xiang Zhongjie Hu Yingmei Feng Yan Dai Jiang Zhao Zhihong Wu Hongjun Li Wu Zhong 2020Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2020,5,1:4
7Effects of Temperature and pH on the Physiological Activity of Grape Juice显示文摘This study was conducted to investigate the effects of temperature and pH on polyphenol and flavonoid contents in grape juice and its antioxidant activity. Two groups(group A and group B) were set. Group A was set with different pH values: 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5 and 5.0; and group B was set with different temperatures: 65, 72, 79, 86 and 93 ℃. The grape juice was treated according to set methods, and two groups of samples were obtained. The contents of polyphenols and flavonoids in each test solution were determined, and the DPPH·free radical system and trivalent Fe reduction system were established to measure and compare the antioxidant activity of groups A and B. The results showed that within the set ranges, the effects of pH and temperature on the content of flavonoids in grape juice were not significant; the test solution with a pH of 4.5 and the test solution with a temperature at 72 ℃ had the strongest capacities of scavenging free radicals, and exhibited scavenging rates of 6.82% and 9.43%, respectively; the test solution with a pH of 4.5 and the test solution with a temperature at 65 ℃ had the strongest capacities of reducing ferric ions. 9Evaluating the Vulnerability of Integrated Electricity-heat-gas Systems Based on the High-dimensional Random Matrix Theory显示文摘Faced with the tight coupling of multi energy sources,the interaction between different energy supply systems makes it difficult for integrated energy systems(IES)to identify weak nodes.Based on the analysis of the data generated by the actual operation of IES,this paper proposes a weak node identification method based on random matrix theory(RMT).First,establish a unified power flow model for IES.Secondly.introduce RMT and the characteristics of weak nodes,without considering the detailed physical model of the system,using historical data and real-time data to construct the random matrix.Thirdly,the two limit spectrum distribution functions(Marchenko-Pastur law and ring law)are used to qualitatively analyze the system’s operating status,calculate linear eigenvalue statistics such as mean spectral radius(MSR),and establish the weak node identification model based on entropy theory.Finally,the simulation of IES verifies the effectiveness of the proposed method and provides a new approach for the identification of weak nodes in IES.Danlei Zhu Bo Wang Hengrui Ma Hongxia Wang 2020CSEE Journal of Power and Energy Systems2020,6,4:2
