2A preliminary study of the effects of plastic film-mulched raised beds on soil temperature and crop performance of early-sown short-season spring maize(Zea mays L.) in the North China Plain显示文摘To identify a strategy for earlier sowing and harvesting of spring maize(Zea mays L.) in an alternative maize–maize double cropping system, a 2-year field experiment was performed at Quzhou experimental station of China Agricultural University in 2014 and 2015. A short-season cultivar, Demeiya number 1(KX7349), was used in the experiment. Soil temperature to 5 cm depth in the early crop growth stage, crop growth, crop yield, and water use of different treatments(plastic film-mulched raised bed(RF) and flat field without plastic film mulching(CK) in 2014; RF, plastic film-mulched flat field(FF), and CK in 2015)were measured or calculated and compared. Soil temperature in the film-mulched treatments was consistently higher than that in CK(1.6–3.5 °C in average) during the early growth stage. Crops in plastic film-mulched treatments used 214 fewer growing-degree days(GDDs) in 2014 and 262 fewer GDDs in 2015. In 2014, the RF treatment yielded 32.7%higher biomass than CK, although its 9.4% higher grain yield was not statistically significant. Also, RF used 17.9% less water and showed 33.1% higher water use efficiency(WUE) than CK. In 2015, RF and FF showed 56.2% and 49.5% higher yield, 15.0% and 4.5%lower water use(ET), and 63.4% and 75.7% higher WUE, respectively, than CK. RF markedly increased soil temperature in the early crop season, accelerated crop growth, reduced ET,and greatly increased crop yield and WUE. Compared with FF, RF had no obvious effect on crop growth rate, although soil temperature during the period between sowing and stem elongation was slightly increased. However, RF resulted in lower ET and higher WUE than FF. 4Isotherm Equation Study of F Adsorbed from Water Solution by Fe2(SO4)3-modified Granular Activated Alumina显示文摘The adsorption equilibrium of a fluoride solution on 1-2 mm granular activated alumina modified by Fe2(SO4)3 solution was investigated.The experiments were conducted using a wide range of initial fluoride concentrations(0.5 to 180 mg·L-1 at pH~7.0) and an adsorbent dose of 1.0 g·L-1.The application of Langmuir and Freundlich adsorption isotherm models(linear and nonlinear forms) generally showed that a single Langmuir or Freundlich equation cannot fit the entire concentration gap.Experimental data on low equilibrium concentrations(0.1 to 5.0 mg·L-1) was in line with both Langmuir and Freundlich isotherm models,whereas that of high equilibrium concentrations(5.0 to 150 mg·L-1) was more in line with the Freundlich isotherm model.A new LangmuirFreundlich function was used for the entire concentration gap,as well as for low and high concentrations.DANG Dan DING Wenming CHENG Anguo LIU Shuming ZHANG Xu 2011Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering2011,19,4:5
5Effect of Berberine on Activation of TLR4-NFκB Signaling Pathway and NLRP3 Inflammasome in Patients with Gout显示文摘Objective:To determine the effects of berberine(BBR) on the activation of toll-like receptor 4(TLR4),nuclear factor(NF) κB(NF-κB) signaling and NLRP3 inflammasome in patients with gout.Methods:Peripheral blood mononuclear cells(PBMCs) were obtained from 24 acute(AP) and 41 non-acute(NAP) phases of primary gout patients,respectively,as well as 30 healthy controls(HC).TLR4,NF-κB(p65),NLRP3,apoptosis-associated specklike protein containing a CARD(PYCARD),cysteinyl aspartate specific proteinase-1(CASP1),and interleukin-1 β(IL-1 β) mRNA expression levels in PBMCs were measured by quantitative reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction.The protein levels of TLR4,myeloid differentiation factor 88(MyD88),NF-κB(p50/65),inhibitor of kappa B kinase α/β(IKKα/β),NF-κB inhibitor α(IKB α),phospho-IKKα/β(p-IKKα/β),NLRP3,PYCARD,and CASP1were monitored by Western blotting.Serum IL-1 β protein level was measured using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA).In addition,PBMCs from HC and macrophages derived from a spontaneously immortalized monocyte-like cell line(THP-1) were stimulated using monosodium urate(MSU,100 μ g/mL),0.1% dimethyl sulfoxide,25 μmol/L BBR,and 10,25,and 50 μmol/L BBR+100 μg/mL MSU for different time periods.The protein levels of IL-1β and IL-18 in cell culture supernatants was measured by ELISA,and the protein expressions of TLR4,MyD88,NF-κB(p50/p65),IKK α/β,IκBα,p-IKKα/β,NLRP3, PYCARD,and CASP1 in macrophages were analyzed by Western blotting.Results:(1) TLR4,NF-κB(p65),PYCARD,CASP1,and IL-1β mRNA levels in PBMCs were significantly higher in the AP group than in the HC group(P<0.05).The NLRP3 mRNA expression levels in PBMCs were found to be significantly lower in the AP and NAP groups than in the HC group(P<0.05,P<0.01).(2) The protein levels of TLR4,IKKβ,MyD88,NF-κB,p-IKKα/β,PYCARD,and CASP1 in PBMCs were significantly higher,and those of IκBα,IKKα,and NLRP3 were found to be significantly lower in the AP group than in the HC group(P<0.05 or P<0.01).(3) The serum IL-1β protein levels were significantly higher in the AP and NAP groups than in the HC group(P<0.01).(4)The IL-1β protein level was significantly lower in the culture supernatants of the PBMCs stimulated with MSU for 3 and 6 h in the 25 and 50 μmoL/L BBR groups compared with that in the MSU group(P<0.01).(5) The protein levels of IL-1β and IL-18 were also significantly lower in the culture supernatants of macrophages stimulated with MSU for 3 and 6 h in BBR groups compared with those in the MSU group(P<0.01).(6) The protein levels of TLR4, MyD88,NF-κB(p50,p65,p105),IKKα/β,p-IκBα,p-IKKα/β,PYCARD,and CASP1 were significantly differed between the macrophages stimulated with MSU for 0.5 and 6 h in BBR groups compared with those in the MSU group(P<0.05 or P<0.01).Conclusions:Activation of TLR4-NF κB signaling and NLRP3 inflammasome by MSU crystals drives the progression of gout inflammation.BBR ameliorates gouty inflammation,which is mechanistically associated with its regulation of TLR4-NF-κB signaling and NLRP3inflammasome expression.DANG Wan-tai XU Dan ZHOU Jing-guo 2023Chinese Journal of Integrative Medicine2023,29,1:3
6Integrated Building Envelope Design Process Combining Parametric Modelling and Multi-Objective Optimization显示文摘As an important element in sustainable building design, the building envelope has been witnessing a constant shift in the design approach. Integrating multi-objective optimization(MOO) into the building envelope design process is very promising, but not easy to realize in an actual project due to several factors, including the complexity of optimization model construction, lack of a dynamic-visualization capacity in the simulation tools and consideration of how to match the optimization with the actual design process. To overcome these difficulties, this study constructed an integrated building envelope design process(IBEDP) based on parametric modelling, which was implemented using Grasshopper platform and interfaces to control the simulation software and optimization algorithm. A railway station was selected as a case study for applying the proposed IBEDP, which also utilized a grid-based variable design approach to achieve flexible optimum fenestrations. To facilitate the stepwise design process, a novel strategy was proposed with a two-step optimization, which optimized various categories of variables separately.
