| 2 | Higher-order topological insulators in synthetic dimensions显示文摘Conventional topological insulators support boundary states with dimension one lower than that of the bulk system that hosts them,and these states are topologically protected due to quantized bulk dipole moments.Recently,higherorder topological insulators have been proposed as a way of realizing topological states with dimensions two or more lower than that of the bulk due to the quantization of bulk quadrupole or octupole moments.However,all these proposals as well as experimental realizations have been restricted to real-space dimensions.Here,we construct photonic higher-order topological insulators(PHOTIs)in synthetic dimensions.We show the emergence of a quadrupole PHOTI supporting topologically protected corner modes in an array of modulated photonic molecules with a synthetic frequency dimension,where each photonic molecule comprises two coupled rings.By changing the phase difference of the modulation between adjacent coupled photonic molecules,we predict a dynamical topological phase transition in the PHOTI.Furthermore,we show that the concept of synthetic dimensions can be exploited to realize even higher-order multipole moments such as a fourth-order hexadecapole(16-pole)insulator supporting 0D corner modes in a 4D hypercubic synthetic lattice that cannot be realized in real-space lattices. | Avik Dutt Momchil Minkov Ian A.D.Williamson Shanhui Fan | 2020 | Light(Science & Applications)2020，9，1： | 3 |
| 3 | Shifting dynamics of nature, society and agriculture in the Hindu Kush Himalayas: Perspectives for future mountain development显示文摘Current approaches for sustainable mountain development have several persisting warning signals. Economic globalization, profitoriented market development, and infrastructure development have significantly altered traditional nature-society interactions, increased environmental pressures, and challenged agricultural sustainability in the mountains. Some of the effects of globalization could also be beneficial. Social differentiation and disintegration of mountain communities' have weakened their collective stakes on natural resources resulting in decline in initiatives such as community forestry, collective water management, domestication of rapidly disappearing herbal species, and balancing of economic and ecological concerns. Population growth, food insecurity, unemployment, and increasing economic gaps between rich and poor have led to out-migration of youth. Sustained action promoting ownership of new initiatives for rehabilitating degraded mountain landscapes through macro-level global/national initiatives, mountain specific planning and development efforts is severely lacking in many areas on the Hindu Kush Himalayan region. Therefore, there is an urgent need for widening the scope of efforts directed to help mountain areas and communities, and a future thinking approach to enhance the sustainability of mountain areas as they are a valuable natural resource for humankind. | 4 | Protective effect of Sida cordata leaf extract against CCl_4 induced acute liver toxicity in rats显示文摘Objective:To investigate the hepatoprotective potential of Sida cordata(Malvaceae)(S.cordata) in experimental rats to validate its traditional claim.Methods:Wister albino rats were divided into 6 groups:Croup 1 served as control;CroupⅡserved as hepatotoxic(CCl4 treated) group; CroupⅢ,Ⅳand V served as(100,200 and 400 mg/kg b.w.) S.cordata leaf extract(SCLE) treated groups;CroupⅥserved as positive control(Silymarin) treated group.Liver marker enzymes serum glutamate oxyloacetic transaminase,serum glutamic pyruvic transaminase,pancreatic enzymatic antioxidants superoxide dismutase(SOD),lipid peroxidation,catalase(CAT),reduced glutathione(CSH) were measured and compared along with histopathological studies.Results: Obtained results show that the treatment with SCI.E significantly(P<0.05-<0.001) and dosedependently reduced CCl4 induced elevated serum level of hepatic enzymes.Furthermore, SCLE significantly(up to P<0.001) reduced the lipid peroxidation in the liver tissue and restored activities of defence antioxidant enzymes CSH,SOD and CAT towards normal levels,which was confirmed by the histopathological studies.Conclusions:The results of this study strongly indicate the protective effect of SCLE against CCl4 induced acute liver toxicity in rats and thereby scientifically support its traditional use. | Sunil Mistry KR Dutt J Jena | 2013 | Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Medicine2013，6，4： | 2 |
