| 1 | Antihepatofibrotic effect of Guizhifuling pill(桂枝茯苓丸) on carbon tetrachloride-induced liver fibrosis in mice显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the protective effects and the underlying mechanism of Guizhifuling pill(桂枝茯苓丸, GZFL) on carbon tetrachloride(CCl4)-induced hepatic fibrosis in mice. METHODS: Male ICR mice by intraperitoneally administered with 20% CCl4(mixed 1∶4 in soybean oil) to induce liver fibrosis. Mice that underwent CCl4 were orally with GZFL. Using hematoxylin and eosin and Masson staining to examine the pathological changes in liver tissue. Serum biochemical parameters, antioxidant enzyme activity and proinflammatory cytokines was assessed. Nuclear factor-kappa B(NF-κB) pathway and nuclear factor-erythroid 2-related factor 2(Nrf2) family members were evaluated by Western blotting. RESULTS: Our findings indicated that GZFL could effectively suppress the progression of liver fibrosis in mice, which was determined based on the improvement in liver function and reduction of collagen deposition. GZFL treatment also decreased the level of cytokines and increased the activity of antioxidant enzymes in liver tissue. Moreover, GZFL exerted anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects through regulating the Nrf2-mediated antioxidant system and inhibiting the NF-κB pathway. | 4 | Epidemiological Characteristics of Human Rabies——Shandong Province,China,2010-2020显示文摘Introduction:Rabies is a viral zoonotic disease that causes progressive and fatal inflammation in the brain.Rabies has caused more than 5,000 human deaths in Shandong Province since 1955.This study aimed to analyze the epidemiological characteristics of human rabies in Shandong Province from 2010 to 2020 and to provide a scientific basis for policy changes.Methods:The data of reported human rabies cases from 2010 to 2020 were obtained from China’s National Notifiable Disease Reporting System,and data related to exposure and post-exposure prophylaxis(PEP)of the cases were acquired through case investigation.Results:A total of 414 human rabies cases were reported in Shandong Province from 2010 to 2020.Out of the 414 total cases,87.20%were primarily farmers;83.10%were over 40 years old.70.29%(265/377)belonged to categoryⅢexposure;and 96.67%(377/390)were exposed to the virus through infected dogs.The vaccine inoculation rate of these cases after exposure was only 8.85%;1.03%(4/390)had been vaccinated with rabies immunoglobulin,developing the disease 11 to 13 days after categoryⅢexposure.Conclusions:Dogs were still the primary animal hosts.Most rabies patients died due to no or inadequate post-exposure prophylaxis.Vaccine inoculation rates for dogs should reach the target of 70%as soon as possible.Health departments should improve the accessibility and quality of PEP;and improve the health literacy of the elderly in rural areas. | Xiaomei Zhang Xueying Tian Bo Pang Zhiqiang Wang Wenji Zhai Xiaolin Jiang Zengqiang Kou Shujun Ding Xianjun Wang | 2022 | China CDC weekly2022,4,35: | 1 |
| 5 | Reinventing MoS2 Co-catalytic Fenton reaction:Oxygen-incorporation mediating surface superoxide radical generation显示文摘To better understand the mechanisms of hydrogen peroxide(H_(2)O_(2))’s decomposition and reactive oxygen species(ROS)’s formation on the catalyst’s surface is always a critical issue for the environmental application of Fenton/Fenton-like reaction.We here report a new approach to activate H_(2)O_(2) in a co-catalytic Fenton system with oxygen incorporated MoS2,namely MoS_(2−x) O_(x) nanosheets.The MoS_(2−x) O_(x) nanosheets assisted co-catalytic Fenton system exhibited superior degradation activity of emerging antibiotic contaminants(e.g.,sulfamethoxazole).Combining density functional theory(DFT)calculation and experimental investigation,we demonstrated that oxygen incorporation could improve the intrinsic conductivity of MoS_(2−x) O_(x) nanosheets and accelerate surface/interfacial charge transfer,which further leads to the efficacious activation of H_(2)O_(2).Moreover,by tuning the oxygen proportion in MoS_(2−x) O_(x) nanosheets,we are able to modulate the generation of ROS and further direct the oriented-conversion of H_(2)O_(2) to surface-bounded superoxide radical(·O_(2−surface)).It sheds light on the generation and transformation of ROS in the engineered system(e.g.,Fenton,Fenton-like reaction)for efficient degradation of persistent pollutants. | Xianjun Tan Wenhui Ding Zhenying Jiang Linxiao Sun Yuxiong Huang | 2022 | Nano Research2022,15,3: | 1 |
| 6 | Red light-driven generation of reactive oxygen species for the targeted oxidation of glioma cells and thiols over covalent organic framework显示文摘Reactive oxygen species(RoS)are essential for biological processes like cell signaling and chemical processes like organic oxidation.Moreover,the sufficient generation of RoS plays a significant role in targeted tumor treatments or oxidation of organics.Herein,a hydrazone-linked porphyrin covalent organic framework(Por-DETH-COF)is developed for red light-induced generation of ROS like singlet oxygen(^(1)O_(2))or superoxide(O_(2)·^(-))to undertake different but targeted oxidations.First,^(1)O_(2)is adopted in photodynamic therapy(PDT)for the oxidation of glioma cells.The PDT efficiency of Por-DETH-COF on the apoptosis of glioma cells is explored through flow cytometry and western blot assay.The apoptosis rate of glioma cells significantly increases over Por-DETH-COF under 660nm red light illumination,suggestive of the potency of^(1)O_(2).Second,O_(2)^(·-)is employed for the targeted oxidation of thiols.A series of thiols could be efficiently oxidized to corresponding disulfides over Por-DETH-COF under 660 nm red light illumination,indicative of the significance of O_(2)^(·-).This work highlights the potential of covalent organic frameworks in generating Ros for precise medical applications of complex chemical environments. | Heng Wei Xia Li Fengwei Huang Shujuan Wu Huimin Ding Qianxue Chen Mingchang Li Xianjun Lang | 2023 | Chinese Chemical Letters2023,34,12: | 0 |
