Therapeutic effect of neohesperidin on TNF-α-stimulated human rheumatoid arthritis fibroblast-like synoviocytes显示文摘During the pathogensis of rheumatoid arthritis(RA),activated RA fibroblast-like synoviocytes(RA-FLSs)combines similar proliferative features as tumor and inflammatory features as osteoarthritis, which eventually leads to joint erosion. Therefore,it is imperative to research and develop new compounds, which can effectively inhibit abnormal activation of RA-FLSs and retard RA progression.Neohesperidin(Neo)is a major active component of flavonoid compounds with anti-inflammation and anti-oxidant properties. In this study, the anti-inflammation,anti-migration,anti-invasion,anti-oxidant and apoptosis-induced effects of Neo on RAFLSs were explored to investigate the underlying mechanism. The results suggested that Neo decreased the levels of interleukin IL-1β,IL-6,IL-8,TNF-α,MMP-3,MMP-9 and MMP-13 in FLSs.Moreover,Neo blocked the activation of the MAPK signaling pathway.Furthermore, treatment with Neo induced the apoptosis of FLSs,and inhibited the migration of FLSs.It was also found that Neo reduced the accumulation of reactive oxygen species(ROS)induced by TNF-α.Taken together, our results highlighted that Neo may act as a potential and promising therapeutic drug for the management of RA.WANG Xiao-He DAI Ce WANG Jun LIU Rui LI Lei YIN Zong-Sheng 2021Chinese Journal of Natural Medicines2021,19,10:10
Morphology and contact mechanics influence adhesive characteristics of Dung Beetle's bristle and Gecko's setae显示文摘Geckos(Gekko gecko)use their hairy setae to adhere on various solid surfaces and dung beetles(Copris ochus Motschulsky)use their hairy bristles to anti-adhere in sticky environments. We study why two hairy systems express a conflict in functions by using SEM,histological approaches and functional experiments.Adhesion models and various parameters were collected and analyzed.Based on the morphological data and functional experimental results carried out by natural and denatured gecko setae and beetle bristles,we first demonstrated that the stiffness along the hair is 1000 to 30000 times that perpendicular to the hair. This stiffness difference is the key factor leading to the two hairy systems' functional differences.Slope of gecko setae reduces contact stiffness, increases contact points and real contact area that results in amazing adhesive abilities. On the other hand, stiff bristles in a beetle have higher contact stiffness, which reduces the real contact area and decreases the adhesion between two contact surfaces.Deformation of gecko setae destroys the hierarchical structure, increases the contact stiffness and results in a decrease of adhesion forces.Similarly, deformation of beetle bristles destroys the erect structure of the hair, interconnects the separated bristles and thus decreases the anti-adhesive functions. These observations inspire us in designing anti-adhesive and adhesive biomimeticDai Zhendong Sun Jiurong Yue David Guo Ce Cheng Hong Yu Min Ji Aihong 2007Progress in Natural Science:Materials International2007,17,9:8
Morphology and mechanical properties of Cybister elytra显示文摘The mechanical properties and the topological structure of cross-sections found in Cybister elytra are presented.SEM images show the similar geometric structure in transverse and longitudinal sections.Elytra consist of several layers:a dense, black epicuticle,an exocuticle that is braided by several parallel chitin fiber layers in a helix structure, and many bridge piers formed by the fiber bundles that connect the exocuticle to the endodermis, forming a composite,light-weight biomaterial. The mechanical properties along the edge of elytra are measured using a nano-indenter.The hardness and modulus of fresh cybister elytra is 0.31 GPa and 6.13 GPa,respectively. The ultimate stresses of fresh elytra, measured by using a tensile test machine, are 169.2 MPa and 194.5 MPa in the transverse and longitudinal directions, respectively, which is twice higher than that of the dried one.The difference in the two directions indicates that this bio-material has been topologically optimized during evolution. The results may provide a biological template to inspire lightweight structure design for aerospace engineering.YANG ZhiXian DAI ZhenDong GUO Ce 2010Chinese Science Bulletin2010,55,8:8
Structural design inspired by beetle elytra and its mechanical properties显示文摘On the basis of the microstructure of the cross-section of a beetle's elytra, three bio-inspired lightweight structures were designed and built from acrylonitrile butadiene styrene plastic with a three-dimensional printer. The mechanical properties of three lightweight structures were analyzed and compared employing the finite element method, and quasi-static compression experiments and a three-point bending test on the structure samples were carried out using an electronic universal testing machine to verify the effectiveness of the finite element method. The results show that all three bio-structures were lightweight and had excellent mechanical properties. In particular, the bio-structure with spherical holes and hollow columns perpendicular to the top and bottom surfaces best imitated the microstructure of the cross-section of the Cybister elytra and had the greatest specific strength/stiffness in compression and bending. Finally,a preliminary optimization design was obtained for this bio-structure to further improve its specific strength and specific stiffness to 31.82 kN m/kg and 108.73 kN m 2 /kg respectively.GUO Ce SONG WenWei DAI ZhenDong 2012Chinese Science Bulletin2012,57,8:8
Bone-targeted pH-responsive cerium nanoparticles for anabolic therapy in osteoporosis显示文摘Antiresorptive drugs are widely used for treatment of osteoporosis and cancer bone metastasis, which function mainly through an overall inhibition of osteoclast. However, not all osteoclasts are“bone eaters”;preosteoclasts(pOCs)play anabolic roles in bone formation and angiogenesis through coupling with osteoblasts and secreting platelet derived growth factor-BB(PDGF-BB).In this study,a bone-targeted pH-responsive nanomaterial was designed for selectively eliminating mature osteoclasts(mOCs)without affecting pOCs.Biocompatible cerium nano-system(CNS)was guided to the acidic extracellular microenvironment created by mOCs and gained oxidative enzymatic activity.Oxidative CNS decreased the viability of mOCs through accumulating intracellular reactive oxygen species and enhancing calcium oscillation.Non-acid secreting anabolic pOCs were thus preserved and kept producing PDGF-BB,which lead to mesenchymal stem cell osteogenesis and endothelial progenitor cell angiogenesis via PI3K-Akt activated focal adhesion kinase. In treating osteoporotic ovariectomized mice,CNS showed better protective effects compare with the current first line antiresorptive drug due to the better anabolic effects marked by higher level of bone formation and vascularization. We provided a novel anabolic therapeutic strategy in treating bone disorders with excessive bone resorption.Ce Dou Jianmei Li Jian He Fei Luo Tao Yu Qijie Dai Yueqi Chen Jianzhong Xu Xiaochao Yang Shiwu Dong 2021Bioactive Materials2021,6,12:3
Divisional and hierarchical innervations of G. gecko's toes to motion and reception显示文摘As a member of robot families, climbing robots have become one of the research hot-spots in the robotic field recently and Gekko gecko (G. gecko) has been broadly seen as an ideal model for climbing robot development. But for gecko-mimic robots, one of the key problems is how to design the robot's foot. In this paper, (1) high-speed camera recording and electrophysiological method are used to observe motion patterns of G. gecko's foot when it climbs on different oriented surfaces; (2) nerve innervations of gecko's toes to motion and reception are studied. It is found that the five toes of the G. gecko can be divided into two motion and reception divisions, and also its motion and reception are modulated and controlled hierarchically. The results provide important information and exclusive ideas for the foot design and control algorithm of gecko-mimic robots.GUO Ce CAI Lei XIE HeRui WANG ZhouYi DAI ZhenDong SUN JiuRong 2009Chinese Science Bulletin2009,54,16:3
Secure Transmission Scheme for Parallel Relay Channels Based on Polar Coding显示文摘This paper considers the use of polar codes to enable secure transmission over parallel relay channels.By exploiting the properties of polar codes over parallel channels, a polar encoding algorithm is designed based on Channel State Information(CSI) between the legitimate transmitter(Alice) and the legitimate receiver(Bob).Different from existing secure transmission schemes, the proposed scheme does not require CSI between Alice and the eavesdropper(Eve). The proposed scheme is proven to be reliable and shown to be capable of transmitting information securely under Amplify-and-Forward(AF) relay protocol, thereby providing security against passive and active attackers.Ce Sun Zesong Fei Dai Jia Congzhe Cao Xinyi Wang 2018Tsinghua Science and Technology2018,23,3:2
The Modulation and Control of the Gecko's Foot Movement显示文摘The modulation and control of gecko’s foot movements were studied electrophysiologically in order to design the motor control system of a gecko-mimic robot. In this study (1) the anatomy of the peripheral nerves controlling the gecko’s foot movements was determined; (2) the relationship between the limb nerves of the gecko and its foot motor patterns was studied; (3) the afferent impulses of the nerves evoked by rubbing the gecko’s toes and palm were recorded; (4) copying the natural patterns of movement of the gecko’s foot (abduction, adduction, flexion, and revolution) and its limb nerve modulation and control mechanism, the nerves were stimulated under computer control, and the results recorded by CCD. Results suggest that gecko’s foot movements can be successfully controlled by artificial electrical signals.Guo Ce Dai Zhen-dong Ji Ai-hong Wang Wei-ying Sun Jiu-rong 2005Journal of Bionic Engineering2005,2,3:2

Long non-coding RNA HCAR promotes endochondral bone repair by upregulating VEGF and MMP13 in hypertrophic chondrocyte through sponging miR-15b-5p显示文摘Endochondral bone formation is an important route for bone repair.Although emerging evidence has revealed the functions of long non-coding RNAs(lncRNAs)in bone and cartilage development, the effect of lncRNAs in endochondral bone repair is still largely unknown. Here,we identified a lncRNA,named Hypertrophic Chondrocyte Angiogenesis-related lncRNA(HCAR),and proved it to promote the endochondral bone repair by upregulating the expression of matrix metallopeptidase 13(Mmp13)and vascular endothelial growth factorα(Vegfa)in hypertrophic chondrocytes.Lnc-HCAR knockdown in hypertrophic chondrocytes restrained the cartilage matrix remodeling and decrease the CD31hiEmcnhi vessels number in a bone repair model.Mechanistically,we proved that lnc-HCAR was mainly enriched in the cytoplasm using fluorescence in situ hybridization(FISH)assay, and it acted as a molecular sponge for miR-15b-5p.Further,in hypertrophic chondrocytes,lnc-HCAR competitively bound to miR-15b-5p to increase Vegfa and Mmp13 expression. Our results proved that lncRNA is deeply involved in endochondral bone repair, which will provide a new theoretical basis for future strategies for promoting fracture healing.Yun Bai Xiaoshan Gong Rui Dong Zhen Cao Ce Dou Chuan Liu Jianmei Li Fei Kang Jingjin Dai Chunrong Zhao Zhansone Tian Jiulin Tan Qijie Dai Shiwu Dong 2022Genes & Diseases2022,9,2:1

A stereotaxic method and apparatus for the Gekko gecko显示文摘To study the modulation mechanism of the middle brain of the Gekko to the locomotion, we introduced a stereotaxic method first in literature and developed an apparatus suitable for Gekko gecko, the big-gest wall and ceiling climber in nature. We defined the bregma and nasal points as reference points, selected the bilateral infraorbital margin and top point of the maxillary tooth for locating and fixing, and set up the line passing through the bregma and paralleling to a line connecting the bilateral infraorbital margin as x axis. Then, we defined a horizontal plane in the stereotaxic instrument, passing through x axis and the certain point which is 4.8 mm exactly above the nasal point, as the XOY plane; the sagittal plane, i.e. the YOZ plane, is the plane which is perpendicular to x axis and passes through the bregma; the plane, i.e. the XOZ plane, which passes through x axis and is perpendicular to the horizontal plane is the coronal plane. We designed a set of head holder which includes three parts: bilateral infraorbital margin clamps, a gecko adaptor holding the rostral side of the upper jaw. The allocation and operation of the head holder is accurate and simple, and the device is low in cost and compatible with standard stereotaxic instrument.WANG WenBo DAI ZhenDong TAN Hua GUO Ce SUN JiuRong 2008Chinese Science Bulletin2008,53,7:1
Landslide Monitoring Based on High-Resolution Distributed Fiber Optic Stress Sensor显示文摘A landslide monitoring application is presented by using a high-resolution distributed fiber optic stress sensor. The sensor is used to monitor the intra-stress distribution and variations in landslide bodies, and can be used for the early warning of the occurrence of the landslides. The principle of distributed fiber optic stress sensing and the intra-stress monitoring method for landslides are described in detail. By measuring the distributed polarization mode coupling in the polarization-maintaining fiber, the distributed fiber stress sensor with stress measuring range 0 to 15 MPa, spatial resolution 10 cm and measuring range 0.5 km, is designed. The warning system is also investigated experimentally in the field trial.Zhi-Yong Dai Yong Liu Li-Xun Zhang Zhong-Hua Ou Ce Zhou Yong-Zhi Liu 2008Journal of Electronic Science and Technology of China2008,6,4:0
Review on Large Eddy Simulation of Turbulent Premixed Combustion in Tubes显示文摘This paper reviews the existing knowledge on the large eddy simulation(LES) of turbulent premixed combustion in empty tubes and obstructed tubes. From the view of model development in LES, this review comprehensively analyzes the development history and applicability of the important Sub-Grid Scale(SGS) viscosity models and SGS combustion models. LES is also used to combine flow and combustion models to reproduce industrial explosion including deflagration and detonation and the transition from deflagration to detonation(DDT). The discussion about models and applications presented here leads readers to understand the progress of LES in the explosion of tube and reveals the deficiencies in this area.LUO Gang DAI Haidong DAI Lingpeng QIAN Yunlou SHA Ce ZHANG Yuxiang WU Bingxin 2020Journal of Thermal Science2020,29,4:0
