Numerical Analysis of Nozzle Clearance's Effect on Turbine Performance显示文摘Variable nozzle turbine (VNT) has become a popular variable geometry turbine (VGT) technology for the diesel engine application. Nozzle clearance, which can't be avoided on the hub and shroud side of the VNT turbine due to the pivoting stators, can lead to turbine performance deterioration. However, its mechanism is still not clear. In this paper, numerical investigation, which is validated by experiment, is carried out to study the mechanism of the nozzle clearance's effect on the turbine performance. Firstly, performance of the mixed flow turbine with fixed nozzle clearances tested on flow bench. Performance of the tested turbine with the same nozzle clearance is numerically simulated. The numerical result agrees well with the test data, which proves correct of the numerical method. Then the turbine performance with different nozzle clearances is numerically analyzed. The research showed that with nozzle clearance, flow loss in the nozzle increases at first and it reaches the maximum value when the clearance ratio is 5%. Flow at the exit of the nozzle becomes less uniform with nozzle clearance. The negative incidence angle of the rotor also increases with nozzle clearance and leads to more incidence angle loss in the rotor. The low energy fluid formed in the nozzle due to the nozzle clearance migrates from hub to shroud side in the rotor, which is another main reason for the rotor's performance degradation. The present research exposed the mechanism of the dramatically decrease of the turbine performance with nozzle clearance: (a) The loss associated with the nozzle leakage increases with the nozzle clearance; (b) The flow loss grows up quickly in the rotor due to the incidence angle loss and migration of the low energy fluid from hub to shroud side. | HU Liangjun YANG Ce SUN Harold ZHANG Jizhong LAI Mingchia | 2011 | Chinese Journal of Mechanical Engineering2011,24,4: | 17
Potential of multi-pass ECAP on improving the mechanical properties of a high-calcium-content Mg-Al-Ca-Mn alloy显示文摘In this study, the multi-pass equal channel angular pressing(ECAP)was employed on a high-calcium-content Mg-Al-Ca-Mn alloy to tailor its microstructure and mechanical properties. The obtained results showed that the network-shaped Mg2Ca and(Mg,Al)2Ca eutectic compounds in as-cast alloy were gradually crushed into ultra-fine particles after ECAP,which exhibited a bimodal particle size distribution and most aggregated at original grain boundaries.Dynamic recrystallization(DRX)of α-Mg occurred during hot deformation via a particle stimulated mechanism, and the almost complete DRX with an average grain size around 1.5μm was obtained after 12p-ECAP.Moreover,abundant nano-sized acicular and spherical precipitates were dynamically precipitated withinα-Mg grains during ECAP.Tensile test results indicated that the maximum strength and ductility were acquired for 12p-ECAP alloy with ultimate tensile strength of 372 MPa and fracture elongation of 8%.The enhanced strength of the alloy could be ascribed to fine DRX grains,ultra-fine Ca-containing particles and dynamically precipitated nano-precipitates,while the improved ductility was mainly due to the refined and homogeneous microstructure, and weak texture with high average Schmid factors. | He Huang Huan Liu Ce Wang Jiapeng Sun Jing Bai Feng Xue Jinghua Jiang Aibin Ma | 2019 | Journal of Magnesium and Alloys2019,7,4: | 10
Morphology and contact mechanics influence adhesive characteristics of Dung Beetle's bristle and Gecko's setae显示文摘Geckos(Gekko gecko)use their hairy setae to adhere on various solid surfaces and dung beetles(Copris ochus Motschulsky)use their hairy bristles to anti-adhere in sticky environments. We study why two hairy systems express a conflict in functions by using SEM,histological approaches and functional experiments.Adhesion models and various parameters were collected and analyzed.Based on the morphological data and functional experimental results carried out by natural and denatured gecko setae and beetle bristles,we first demonstrated that the stiffness along the hair is 1000 to 30000 times that perpendicular to the hair. This stiffness difference is the key factor leading to the two hairy systems' functional differences.Slope of gecko setae reduces contact stiffness, increases contact points and real contact area that results in amazing adhesive abilities. On the other hand, stiff bristles in a beetle have higher contact stiffness, which reduces the real contact area and decreases the adhesion between two contact surfaces.Deformation of gecko setae destroys the hierarchical structure, increases the contact stiffness and results in a decrease of adhesion forces.Similarly, deformation of beetle bristles destroys the erect structure of the hair, interconnects the separated bristles and thus decreases the anti-adhesive functions. These observations inspire us in designing anti-adhesive and adhesive biomimetic | Dai Zhendong Sun Jiurong Yue David Guo Ce Cheng Hong Yu Min Ji Aihong | 2007 | Progress in Natural Science:Materials International2007,17,9: | 8
Improving toughness of a Mg_(2)Ca-containing Mg-Al-Ca-Mn alloy via refinement and uniform dispersion of Mg_(2)Ca particles显示文摘In this work, two wrought Mg-3.66Al-4.25Ca-0.43 Mn(wt%)alloys with different morphology and distribution of Mg_(2)Ca particles were fabricated by hot extrusion and multi-pass(32)equal channel angular pressing(ECAP).The as-extruded alloy exhibits a banded microstructure with alternately arranged Mg_(2)Ca particle bands, fine α-Mg dynamically recrystallized(DRX)grain bands, and coarse α-Mg deformed grain bands. The Mg_(2)Ca bands are composed of broken Mg_(2)Ca particles which are aggregated and aligned along extrusion direction. The microstructure of ECAP alloy contains complete α-Mg DRX grains and refined Mg_(2)Ca particles which are dispersedly distributed at grain boundaries.Tensile test results show that the as-extruded alloy possesses high ultimate tensile strength(UTS)of 420 MPa and poor fracture elongation of 7%,while the ECAP alloy exhibits improved toughness with UTS of 347 MPa and fraction elongation of 16%.The higher strength of as-extruded alloy is mainly ascribed to the contribution of coarse deformed grains with strong texture, and its poor toughness is resulted from the formation of Mg_(2)Ca bands within which microcracks could form and extend rapidly. On the contrary, the refined and dispersedly distributed Mg_(2)Ca particles are effective to retard crack initiation and impede crack propagation, thereby enhancing the toughness of ECAP alloy significantly. | Huan Liu Chao Sun Ce Wang Yuhua Li Jing Bai Feng Xue Aibin Ma Jinghua Jiang | 2020 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology2020,59,24: | 7

The RppC-AvrRppC NLR-effector interaction mediates the resistance to southern corn rust in maize显示文摘Southern corn rust(SCR),caused by the fungal pathogen Puccinia polysora,is a major threat to maize pro-duction worldwide.Efficient breeding and deployment of resistant hybrids are key to achieving durable control of SCR.Here,we report the molecular cloning and characterization of RppC,which encodes an NLR-type immune receptor and is responsible for a major SCR resistance quantitative trait locus.Further-more,we identified the corresponding avirulence effector,AvrRppC,which is secreted by P.polysora and triggers RppC-mediated resistance.Allelic variation of AvrRppC directly determines the effectiveness of RppC-mediated resistance, indicating that monitoring of AvrRppC variants in the field can guide the rational deployment of RppC-containing hybrids in maize production.Currently,RppC is the most frequently deployed SCR resistance gene in China, and a better understanding of its mode of action is crit-ical for extending its durability. | Ce Deng April Leonard James Cahill Meng Lv Yurong Li Shawn Thatcher Xueying Li Xiaodi Zhao Wenjie Du Zheng Li Huimin Li Victor Llaca Kevin Fengler Lisa Marshall Charlotte Harris Girma Tabor Zhimin Li Zhiqiang Tian Qinghua Yang Yanhui Chen Jihua Tang Xintao Wang Junjie Hao Jianbing Yan Zhibing Lai Xiaohong Fei Weibin Song Jinsheng Lai Xuecai Zhang Guoping Shu Yibo Wang Yuxiao Chang Weiling Zhu Wei Xiong Juan Sun Bailin Li Junqiang Ding | 2022 | Molecular Plant2022,15,5: | 6

Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of Mg–RE–TM Cast Alloys Containing Long Period Stacking Ordered Phases: A Review显示文摘Casting magnesium alloys hold the greatest share of magnesium application products due to their short processing period, low cost and near net shape forming. Compared with conventional commercial magnesium alloys or other Mg–RE-based alloys, the novel Mg–RE–TM cast alloys with long period stacking ordered(LPSO) phases usually possess a higher strength and are promising candidates for aluminum alloy applications. Up to now, two ways: alloying design and casting process control(including subsequent heat treatments), have been predominantly employed to further improve the mechanical properties of these alloys. Alloying with other elements or ceramic particles could alter the solidifi cation pattern of alloys, change the morphology of LPSO phases and refi ne the microstructures. Diff erent casting techniques(conventional casting, rapidly solidifi cation, directional solidifi cation, etc.) introduce various microstructure characteristics, such as dendritic structure, nanocrystalline, metastable phase, anisotropy. Further heat treatments could activate the transformation of various LPSO structures and precipitation of diverse precipitates. All these evolutions exert great impacts on the mechanical properties of the LPSO-containing alloys. However, the underlying mechanisms still remain a subject of debate. Therefore, this review mainly provides the state of the art of the casting magnesium alloys research and the accompanying challenges and summarizes some topics that merit future investigation for developing high-performance Mg–RE–TM cast alloys. | Huan Liu He Huang Jia-Peng Sun Ce Wang Jing Bai Ai-Bin Ma Xian-Hua Chen | 2019 | Acta Metallurgica Sinica(English Letters)2019,32,3: | 6
Effects of Normalized Difference Vegetation Index and Related Wavebands′ Characteristics on Detecting Spatial Heterogeneity Using Variogram-based Analysis显示文摘Spatial heterogeneity is widely used in diverse applications, such as recognizing ecological process, guiding ecological restoration, managing land use, etc. Many researches have focused on the inherent scale multiplicity of spatial heterogeneity by using various environmental variables. How these variables affect their corresponding spatial heterogeneities, however, have received little attention. In this paper, we examined the effects of characteristics of normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) and its related bands variable images, namely red and near infrared (NIR), on their corresponding spatial heterogeneity detection based on variogram models. In a coastal wetland region, two groups of study sites with distinct fractal vegetation cover were tested and analyzed. The results show that: 1) in high fractal vegetation cover (H-FVC) area, NDVI and NIR variables display a similar ability in detecting the spatial heterogeneity caused by vegetation growing status structure; 2) in low fractal vegetation cover (L-FVC) area, the NIR and red variables outperform NDVI in the survey of soil spatial heterogeneity; and 3) generally, NIR variable is ubiquitously applicable for vegetation spatial heterogeneity investigation in different fractal vegetation covers. Moreover, as variable selection for remote sensing applications should fully take the characteristics of variables and the study object into account, the proposed variogram analysis method can make the variable selection objectively and scientifically, especially in studies related to spatial heterogeneity using remotely sensed data. | WEN Zhaofei ZHANG Ce ZHANG Shuqing DING Changhong LIU Chunyue PAN Xin LI Huapeng SUN Yan | 2012 | Chinese Geographical Science2012,22,2: | 4
SRSF1 plays a critical role in invariant natural killer T cell development and function显示文摘Invariant natural killer T(iNKT)cells are highly conserved innate-like T lymphocytes that originate from CD4^(+)CD8^(+)double-positive(DP)thymocytes.Here,we report that serine/arginine splicing factor 1(SRSF1)intrinsically regulates iNKT cell development by directly targeting Myb and balancing the abundance of short and long isoforms.Conditional ablation of SRSF1 in DP cells led to a substantially diminished iNKT cell pool due to defects in proliferation, survival, and TCRαrearrangement. The transition from stage 0 to stage 1 of iNKT cells was substantially blocked, and the iNKT2 subset was notably diminished in SRSF1-deficient mice.SRSF1 deficiency resulted in aberrant expression of a series of regulators that are tightly correlated with iNKT cell development and iNKT2 differentiation, including Myb,PLZF,Gata3,ICOS,and CD5.In particular,we found that SRSF1 directly binds and regulates pre-mRNA alternative splicing of Myb and that the expression of the short isoform of Myb is substantially reduced in SRSF1-deficient DP and iNKT cells.Strikingly, ectopic expression of the Myb short isoform partially rectified the defects caused by ablation of SRSF1.Furthermore,we confirmed that the SRSF1-deficient mice exhibited resistance to acute liver injury uponα-GalCer and Con A induction. Our findings thus uncovered a previously unknown role of SRSF1 as an essential post-transcriptional regulator in iNKT cell development and functional differentiation, providing new clinical insights into iNKT-correlated disease. | Jingjing Liu Menghao You Yingpeng Yao Ce Ji Zhao Wang Fang Wang Di Wang Zhihong Qi Guotao Yu Zhen Sun Wenhui Guo Juanjuan Liu Shumin Li Yipeng Jin Tianyan Zhao Hai-Hui Xue Yuanchao Xue Shuyang Yu | 2021 | Cellular & Molecular Immunology2021,18,11: | 3
Divisional and hierarchical innervations of G. gecko's toes to motion and reception显示文摘As a member of robot families, climbing robots have become one of the research hot-spots in the robotic field recently and Gekko gecko (G. gecko) has been broadly seen as an ideal model for climbing robot development. But for gecko-mimic robots, one of the key problems is how to design the robot's foot. In this paper, (1) high-speed camera recording and electrophysiological method are used to observe motion patterns of G. gecko's foot when it climbs on different oriented surfaces; (2) nerve innervations of gecko's toes to motion and reception are studied. It is found that the five toes of the G. gecko can be divided into two motion and reception divisions, and also its motion and reception are modulated and controlled hierarchically. The results provide important information and exclusive ideas for the foot design and control algorithm of gecko-mimic robots. | GUO Ce CAI Lei XIE HeRui WANG ZhouYi DAI ZhenDong SUN JiuRong | 2009 | Chinese Science Bulletin2009,54,16: | 3
Composition and immuno-stimulatory properties of extracellular DNA from mouse gut flora显示文摘AIM To demonstrate that specific bacteria might release bacterial extracellular DNA(e DNA) to exert immunomodulatory functions in the mouse small intestine.METHODS Extracellular DNA was extracted using phosphate buffered saline with 0.5 mmol/L dithiothreitol combined with two phenol extractions. TOTO-1 iodide, a cell-impermeant and high-affinity nucleic acid stain, was used to confirm the existence of e DNA in the mucus layers of the small intestineand colon in healthy Male C57 BL/6 mice. Composition difference of e DNA and intracellular DNA(i DNA) of the small intestinal mucus was studied by Illumina sequencing and terminal restriction fragment length polymorphism(T-RFLP). Stimulation of cytokine production by e DNA was studied in RAW264.7 cells in vitro.RESULTS TOTO-1 iodide staining confirmed existence of e DNA in loose mucus layer of the mouse colon and thin surface mucus layer of the small intestine. Illumina sequencing analysis and T-RFLP revealed that the composition of the e DNA in the small intestinal mucus was significantly different from that of the i DNA of the small intestinal mucus bacteria. Illumina Miseq sequencing showed that the e DNA sequences came mainly from Gram-negative bacteria of Bacteroidales S24-7. By contrast, predominant bacteria of the small intestinal flora comprised Grampositive bacteria. Both e DNA and i DNA were added to native or lipopolysaccharide-stimulated Raw267.4 macrophages, respectively. The e DNA induced significantly lower tumor necrosis factor-α/interleukin-10(IL-10) and IL-6/IL-10 ratios than i DNA, suggesting the predominance for maintaining immune homeostasis of the gut.CONCLUSION Our results indicated that degraded bacterial genomic DNA was mainly released by Gram-negative bacteria, especially Bacteroidales-S24-7 and Stenotrophomonas genus in gut mucus of mice. They decreased pro-inflammatory activity compared to total gut flora genomic DNA. | Ce Qi Ya Li Ren-Qiang Yu Sheng-Li Zhou Xing-Guo Wang Guo-Wei Le Qing-Zhe Jin Hang Xiao Jin Sun | 2017 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2017,23,44: | 2

Adaptability Analysis of IP Routing Protocol in Broadband LEO Constellation Systems显示文摘With the inclusion of satellite Internet as the information infrastructure in China's 'new infrastructure' category, relevant domestic industries and scientific research institutes have successively carried out the design of broadband low earth orbit(LEO) constellation systems and key technical research. As the core technology for the satellite-to-ground network communications of a broadband LEO constellation system, routing technology is extremely important for the efficient and reliable transmission of various service data.Focusing on the two important broadband LEO constellation systems in China,in-depth analysis and simulation of the high dynamics of the satellite-to-ground satellites are conducted in this paper to obtain more accurate network topology changes and characteristics;then the adaptability of the ground standard IP routing protocol to the broadband LEO constellation system is analyzed, and an LEO constellation simulation scenario is built with the Opnet software. The simulation results of the convergence performance of the standard IP routing protocol are produced. The results show that the IP protocol does not perform well for LEO satellite constellation networks.Based on the studies, some solutions are proposed to take full advantages of the characteristics of LEO satellite systems. These can also provide a reference for the choice of intersatellite routing architecture and protocol technology for broadband LEO constellation in the future development. | SUN Chenhua YIN Bo LI Xudong TIAN Xing PANG Ce | 2020 | ZTE Communications2020,18,4: | 2
