1Twin Growth and Texture Evolution in an Extruded AM30 Magnesium Alloy During Compression显示文摘The aim of this study was to examine and quantify the growth of extension twins and the associated texture change in an extruded AM30 magnesium alloy during compression along the extrusion direction.Three stages of twin growth with increasing strain were observed due to twin-dislocation interactions, together with increasing texture volume fraction of f1210g<0001>and f0110g<0001>components.Stage I was characterized by a relatively slow and gradually accelerating growth.A steady-state twin growth was reached in stage II,where the twin width increased linearly with increasing strain.Stage III twin growth became decelerated, exhibiting a plateau-like character.D.Sarker J.Friedman D.L.Chen 2014Journal of Materials Science & Technology2014,30,9:8
2De-twinning and Texture Change in an Extruded AM30 Magnesium Alloy during Compression along Normal Direction显示文摘Twinning and de-twinning are the salient deformation mechanisms in hexagonal close-packed(hcp)metals. The aim of this study was to examine and quantify the de-twinning process involving a reversible motion of twin boundaries in an extruded AM30 magnesium alloy after re-compression along the normal direction(ND) of pre-compressed samples along the extrusion direction(ED). {1012} extension twins were first introduced at a compressive strain of 3.7% along the ED. The subsequent compressive deformation along the ND induced a gradual shrinkage of twins with increasing cumulative true strain, and the complete de-twinning occurred at a strain of ~7.7%. The twin width decreased linearly with increasing true strain. Texture measurements verified the rotation of c-axes of hcp unit cells towards the anti-compression direction due to {1012} extension twinning after compression along the ED, and a gradual return of c-axes to the initial orientation due to twin shrinking or de-twinning during the following compression along the ND. The {1012} twinning corresponded to the formation of new texture components C{1210}<0001> and D{0110}<0001> and a decrease in the initial texture components A{0001}<2110> and B{0001}<1010>, while the twin shrinking or de-twinning was characterized by a gradual vanishing of components C{1210}<0001> and D{0110}<0001> and an increase in the components A{0001}<2110> and B{0001}<1010>.D.Sarker J.Friedman D.L.Chen 2015Journal of Materials Science & Technology2015,31,3:8

4Antimicrobial activity of kojic acid from endophytic fungus Colletotrichum gloeosporioides isolated from Sonneratia apetala,a mangrove plant of the Sundarbans显示文摘Objective: To isolate and evaluate the antimicrobial activity of the active principle(s) from the ethyl acetate(EtOAc) extract of endophytic fungus Colietotrichum gloeosporioides(C.gloeosporioides) isolated from Sonneratia apetala. Methods: Water agar technique was used to isolate the fungus, and both microscopic and molecular techniques were used for identification of the strain. Potato dextrose broth was used to grow the fungus in large-scale. Reversed-phase preparative HPLC analysis was performed to isolate the major active compound, kojic acid. The EtOAc extract and kojic acid were screened for their antimicrobial activity against two Grampositive and two Gram-negative bacteria as well as a fungal strain using the resazurin 96-well microtitre plate antimicrobial assay. Results: The fungus C. gloeosporioides was isolated from the leaves of Sonneratia apetala. Initial identification of the fugal isolate was carried out using spore characteristics observed under the microscope. Subsequently, the ITS1-5.8 S-ITS2 sequencing was employed for species-level identification of the fungus C. gloeosporioides. Five litres of liquid culture of the fungus produced approximately 610 mg of a mixture of secondary metabolites.Kojic acid(1) was isolated as the main secondary metabolite present in the fungal extract, and the structure was confirmed by 1 D, 2 D NMR and mass spectrometry. The EtOAc extract and compound 1 exhibited considerable antimicrobial activity against all tested microorganisms.Whilst the minimum inhibitory concentration(MIC) values from the EtOAc extract ranged between 2.4×10^(-4)mg/mL and 2.5 mg/mL, those of kojic acid(1) were between 0.125 mg/mL and1 mg/mL. The EtOAc extract and kojic acid(1) were most active against Pseudomonas aeruginosa(MIC = 2.4×10^(-4). mg/mL) and Micrococcus luteus(MIC = 0.125 mg/mL), respectively. Conclusions:The results revealed that the endophytic fungus C. gloeosporioides could be a good source of commercially important kojic acid, which exhibited antimicrobial properties.Tauhidur Rahman Nurunnabi Shaymaa Al-Majmaie Ismini Nakouti Lutfun Nahar S.M.Mahbubur Rahman Md.Hossain Sohrab Md.Morsaline Billah Fyaz M.D.Ismail George P.Sharples Satyajit D.Sarker 2018Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Medicine2018,11,5:1
