1End of Life Experience of Symptom Cluster and Their Management in Hong Kong Chinese Patients with Lung Cancer Who Receive Palliative Radiotherapy显示文摘Breathlessness, fatigue, and anxiety are distressing symptoms for patients with advanced lung cancer, however, they are not relieved by palliative RT and are often viewed as neglected areas of clinical practice. This paper aims to review def initions of, and explore patients' experiences of, breathlessness, fatigue, and anxiety. Further, it will outline existing approaches, both pharmacological and non-pharmacological, to treat them. Current treatments and perceptions of these symptoms will be discussed in the context of Hong Kong health care service. The review of literature also shows that breathlessness, fatigue and anxiety appears to have similar emotional origins. A contemporary approach of using a common pyschoeducational intervention to treat these symptoms together as a cluster in end of life care will be discussed.Carmen W.H. CHAN S.Y. CHAIR Y.Y. 6Autophagy is involved in oral rAAV/Aβ vaccine-induced Aβ clearance in APP/PS1 transgenic mice显示文摘The imbalance between β-amyloid(Aβ) generation and clearance plays a fundamental role in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer 's disease(AD). The sporadic form of AD is characterized by an overall impairment in Aβ clearance. Immunotherapy targeting Aβ clearance is believed to be a promising approach and is under active clinical investigation. Autophagy is a conserved pathway for degrading abnormal protein aggregates and is crucial for Aβ clearance. We previously reported that oral vaccination with a recombinant AAV/Aβ vaccine increased the clearance of Aβ from the brain and improved cognitive ability in AD animal models, while the underlying mechanisms were not well understood. In this study, we first demonstrated that oral vaccination with rAAV/Aβ decreased the p62 level and up-regulated the LC3BII/LC3B-I ratio in APP/PS1 mouse brain, suggesting enhanced autophagy. Further, inhibition of the Akt/m TOR pathway may account for autophagy enhancement. We also found increased anti-Aβ antibodies in the sera of APP/PS1 mice with oralvaccination, accompanied by elevation of complement factors C1 q and C3 levels in the brain. 10Duration-dependent regulation of autophagy by isoflurane exposure in aged rats显示文摘Current evidence suggests a central role for autophagy in many inflammatory brain disorders, including Alzheimer's disease(AD). Furthermore, it is also well accepted that some inhalation anesthetics, such as isoflurane, may cause ADlike neuropathogenesis and resultant postoperative cognitive dysfunction, especially in the elderly population. However, the impact of inhalation anesthetics on autophagic components in the brain remains to be documented. Hence, our objective was to investigate the effects of different durations of isoflurane exposure on hippocampus-dependent learning and hippocampal autophagy in aged rats. Aged Sprague-Dawley rats(20 months old) were randomly exposed to 1.5% isoflurane or 100% oxygen for 1 or 4 h. Animals were then trained in the Morris water maze(4 trials/day for 5 consecutive days). Hippocampal phagophore formation markers, beclin 1 and protein microtubule-associated protein 1 light chain-3B(LC3B), as well as p62, an indicator of autophagic flux, were quantified by western blotting. There was no significant difference in the escape latencies and time spent in the target quadrant, as well as hippocampal expression of beclin 1, LC3 BII, and p62 at 24 h post-anesthesia between the1-h isoflurane-exposed rats and their controls(P >0.05). Four-hour exposure to isoflurane resulted in spatial learning and memory deficits, as evidenced by prolonged escape latencies on days 4 and 5 postanesthesia and less time spent in the target quadrant than sham-exposed animals(P <0.05). These events were accompanied by a decline in hippocampal expression of LC3B-I, LC3B-II, and beclin 1 24 h after isoflurane(P <0.01 and P <0.05). Nevertheless, no significant change in p62 expression was found. Further kinetics study of autophagic changes induced by 4 h of isoflurane showed a transient upregulation of LC3B-I, LC3B-II, and beclin 1 at the end of exposure and a subsequent striking decrease w ithin 12–24 h post-anesthesia(P <0.05). Hippocampal p62 p eaked at 6 h but subsequently resolved. 14First-principles study of lithium intercalated bilayer graphene显示文摘Lithium intercalated bilayer graphene has been investigated using first-principles density functional theory calculations. Results show that there exist AB and AA stacking sequences for bilayer graphene in which the latter is more favorable for the Li storage and the former will evolve into the latter with the intercalation of Li ions. The relationship between the interlayer distance of two graphene sheets and the intercalated capacity of Li ions is discussed. 19Spatial modulation of nanopattern dimensions by combining interference lithography and grayscale-patterned secondary exposure显示文摘Functional nanostructures are exploited for a variety of cutting-edge fields including plasmonics,metasurfaces,and biosensors,just to name a few.Some applications require nanostructures with uniform feature sizes while others rely on spatially varying morphologies.However,fine manipulation of the feature size over a large area remains a substantial challenge because mainstream approaches to precise nanopatterning are based on low-throughput pixel-by-pixel processing,such as those utilizing focused beams of photons,electrons,or ions.In this work,we provide a solution toward wafer-scale,arbitrary modulation of feature size distribution by introducing a lithographic portfolio combining interference lithography(IL)and grayscale-patterned secondary exposure(SE).Employed after the high-throughput IL,a SE with patterned intensity distribution spatially modulates the dimensions of photoresist nanostructures.Based on this approach,we successfully fabricated 4-inch wafer-scale nanogratings with uniform linewidths of<5%variation,using grayscale-patterned SE to compensate for the linewidth difference caused by the Gaussian distribution of the laser beams in the IL.Besides,we also demonstrated a wafer-scale structural color painting by spatially modulating the filling ratio to achieve gradient grayscale color using SE.Zhuofei Gan Hongtao Feng Liyang Chen Siyi Min Chuwei Liang Menghong Xu Zijie Jiang Zhao Sun Chuying Sun Dehu Cui Wen-Di Li 2022Light(Science & Applications)2022,11,5:3
20木结构楼板托梁用木质工字梁静曲性能的设计显示文摘为了探知木结构建筑用木质工字梁的设计方法,本文以用杨木LVL作翼缘、竹定向刨花板作腹板的楼面托梁用竹木工字梁(IJ)为研究对象,分析讨论了设计荷载、木结构建筑结构规范尺寸、IJ的截面尺寸和包括蠕变在内的IJ的静曲性能及其它们之间的关系并得到了试验验证。研究结果表明:钢质工字梁的科学理论可以作为工程用IJ弹性段静曲性能的设计依据,并可满足木结构建筑楼面托梁用IJ的设计、制造要求。同时提出尽快建立健全我国木结构建筑和木质建筑材料统一规范、标准,以正确指导IJ及其翼缘、腹板材料设计、制造和应用的若干建议。张宏健 Ying Hei Chui 董春雷 袁福兴 冯琦 2009中国建材科技2009,,6:2
