1The Changes in Guilin Paddy Soil Organic Matter and Rice Yield under Long-Term Fertilization显示文摘Rational fertilization is an important measure to increase crop yield and soil fertility. Through analysis,this paper aims to master the change characteristics of soil organic matter and rice yield under different fertilizer treatments,in order to provide an important reference for the sustainable use of soil and effective fertilization. Long-term( 19 years) rice crop rotation experiments in waterloggogenic paddy soil were conducted to investigate the change trend of crop grain yield and soil organic matter with time,reveal the dynamic characteristics and relationship between main fertility factors and crop yields using comparative analysis at three sites with conventional fertilization and non-fertilization in Guilin. The results showed that compared with previous years,the rice yield increased by 53% under the fertilization treatment and degreased by 66% under the control. Over the years,the average soil organic matter( SOM) content under fertilization treatment was 23% higher than under CK treatment. 3The Establishment and Validation of the Human U937 Cell Line as a Cellular Model to Screen Immunomodulatory Agents Regulating Cytokine Release Induced by Influenza Virus Infection显示文摘Severe influenza infections are often associated with the excessive induction of pro-inflammatory cytokines,which is also referred to as'cytokine storms'.Several studies have shown that cytokine storms are directly associated with influenzainduced fatal acute lung injury and acute respiratory distress syndrome.Due to the narrow administration window,current antiviral therapies are often inadequate.The efforts to use immunomodulatory agents alone or in combination with antiviral agents in the treatment of influenza in animal models have resulted in the achievement of protective effects accompanied with reduced cytokine production.Currently,there are no immunomodulatory drugs for influenza available for clinical use.Animal models,despite being ideal to study the anti-inflammatory responses to influenza virus infection,are very costly and time-consuming.Therefore,there is an urgent need to establish fast and economical screening methods using cellbased models to screen and develop novel immunomodulatory agents.In this study,we screened seven human cell lines and found that the human monocytic cell U937 supports the replication of different subtypes of influenza viruses as well as the production of the important pro-inflammatory cytokines and was selected to develop the cell-based model.The U937 cell model was validated by testing a panel of known antiviral and immunomodulatory agents and screening a drug library consisting of 1280 compounds comprised mostly of FDA-approved drugs.We demonstrated that the U937 cell model is robust and suitable for the high-throughput screening of immunomodulators and antivirals against influenza infection.Ge Liu Si Chen Ao Hu Li Zhang Wenyu Sun Jungang Chen Wei Tang Haiwei Zhang Chunlan Liu Chang Ke Xulin Chen 2019Virologica Sinica2019,34,6:0

5Diet and physical activity influence the composition of gut microbiota,benefit on Alzheimer's disease显示文摘Alzheimer's disease is a neurodegenerative disease with complex etiology.Gut microbiota influences the gutbrain axis,which may affect pathways related to the pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease.Additionally,diet and physical activity are likely to affect the pathology of Alzheimer's disease as well as the gut microbiota.This demonstrates that it may be possible to prevent or halt the progression of Alzheimer's disease by regulating the gut microbiota using diet and physical activity strategies.Therefore,the present study reviews the association between these two interventions and gut microbiota in the human body.It also summarizes how these two interventions benefit Alzheimer's disease.Furthermore,the primary limitations of these two interventions are discussed and promising strategies are proposed,which may be beneficial to further study and develop the intervening measure for the progression of Alzheimer's disease.Jinyue Zhou Min Tang Wanyi Li Rui Fang Chunlan Tang Qinwen Wang 2024Food Science and Human Wellness2024,13,2:0
6Smart Interfacing between Co-Fe Layered Double Hydroxide and Graphitic Carbon Nitride for High-efficiency Electrocatalytic Nitrogen Reduction显示文摘Bimetallic compounds such as hydrotalcite-type layered double hydroxides(LDHs)are promising electrocatalysts owing to their unique electronic structures.However,their abilities toward nitrogen adsorption and reduction are undermined since the surface-mantled,electronegative-OH groups hinder the charge transfer between transition metal atoms and nitrogen molecules.Herein,a smart interfacing strategy is proposed to construct a coupled heterointerface between LDH and 2D g-C_(3)N_(4),which is proven by density functional theory(DFT)investigations to be favorable for nitrogen adsorption and ammonia desorption compared with neat LDH surface.The interfaced LDH and g-C_(3)N_(4) is further hybridized with a self-standing TiO_(2) nanofibrous membrane(NM)to maximize the interfacial effect owing to its high porosity and large surface area.Profited from the synergistic superiorities of the three components,the LDH@C_(3)N_(4)@TiO_(2) NM delivers superior ammonia yield(2.07×10^(−9) mol s^(−1) cm^(−2))and Faradaic efficiency(25.3%),making it a high-efficiency,noble-metal-free catalyst system toward electrocatalytic nitrogen reduction.Xiaohui Wu Lu Tang Yang Si Chunlan Ma Peng Zhang Jianyong Yu Yitao Liu Bin Ding 2023Energy & Environmental Materials2023,6,2:0
7Antitumor effect of Escherichia coli-derived outer membrane vesicles on neuroblastoma in vitro and in vivo显示文摘Bacterial outer membrane vesicles(OMVs)are spherical microbubbles that contain biological content and are produced by gram-negative bacteria.The use of OMVs as adjuvants for cancer immunotherapy or as drug carriers for targeted therapies has attracted the interest of many scholars.However,it is unclear whether OMVs can exert direct antitumor effects and whether OMVs can inhibit pediatric tumors.Here,we explore the potential of Escherichia coli-derived OMVs to directly suppress neuroblastoma.Our results demonstrate the antitumor effects of OMVs in vitro and in vivo,and no serious adverse reactions were observed.OMV uptake into the cytoplasm and nucleus directly decreases cell stemness,DNA damage,apoptosis and cell cycle arrest,which may be the mechanisms bywhichOMVs suppress tumors.Ourresultsdemonstrate thepotential of bacterial OMVs to be usedas antitumor adjuvant therapies,increasing the number of candidates for the development of cancer therapies in the future.More relevant studies are urgently needed to demonstrate the efficacy and safety of OMVs.Liming Jin Zhaoxia Zhang Xiaojun Tan Zhaoying Wang Bo Tang Zhang Wang Mujie Li Tao Mi Lianju Shen Chunlan Long Guanghui Wei Dawei He 2022Acta Biochimica et Biophysica Sinica2022,54,9:0
8Eight Zhes Decoction ameliorates the lipid dysfunction of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease using integrated lipidomics, network pharmacology and pharmacokinetics显示文摘Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD)has developed into the most common chronic liver disease and can lead to liver cancer.Our laboratory previously developed a novel prescription for NAFLD,“Eight Zhes Decoction”(EZD),which has shown good curative effects in clinical practice.However,the pharmacodynamic material basis and mechanism have not yet been revealed.A strategy integrating lipidomics,network pharmacology and pharmacokinetics was used to reveal the active components and mechanisms of EZD against NAFLD.The histopathological results showed that EZD attenuated the degrees of collagen deposition and steatosis in the livers of nonalcoholic steatofibrosis model mice.Furthermore,glycerophospholipid metabolism,arachidonic acid metabolism,glycerolipid metabolism and linoleic acid metabolism with phospholipase A2 group IVA(PLA2G4A)and cytochrome P450 as the core targets and 12,13-cis-epoxyoctadecenoic acid,12(S)-hydroxyeicosatetraenoic acid,leukotriene B4,prostaglandin E2,phosphatidylcholines(PCs)and triacylglycerols(TGs)as the main lipids were found to be involved in the treatment of NAFLD by EZD.Importantly,naringenin,artemetin,canadine,and bicuculline were identified as the active ingredients of EZD against NAFLD;in particular,naringenin reduces PC consumption by inhibiting the expression of PLA2G4A and thus promotes sufficient synthesis of very-low-density lipoprotein to transport excess TGs in the liver.This research provides valuable data and theoretical support for the application of EZD against NAFLD.Yuping Zhou Ze Dai Kaili Deng Yubin Wang Jiamin Ying Donghui Chu Jinyue Zhou Chunlan Tang 2023Journal of Pharmaceutical Analysis2023,13,9:0
9Multidimensional diversity of bird communities across spatial variation of land cover in Zoige on the eastern Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau显示文摘Background:Spatial variation of land cover can result in the changes of community similarities and biotic homog-enization,whereby the increasing similarity would reduce the adaptive capacity of biotic assemblages to further disturbance,and degenerate ecosystem services they offer.However,it remains scarce to integrate multidimensional diversity for unveiling how variations in land cover may influence the patterns and processes of biotic homogeniza-tion in the Anthropocene.In this study,we examined how spatial variation of land cover could alter taxonomic,phy-logenetic and functional homogenization of bird communities simultaneously in a compound ecosystem of Zoige Marsh on the eastern Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau.Acting as the largest alpine marsh and peatland in the world,Zoige Marsh has undergone great changes in the land cover pattern due to climate change and anthropogenic activities.Methods:We conducted transect surveys for bird communities over six years(2014‒2019)during breeding sea-sons in four main land cover types(meadow,woodland,village and marsh),representing the spatial variation of land covers in the study area.We compared multidimensional diversity(taxonomic,phylogenetic and functional diver-sity)among land covers to assess the effects of spatial variation in land cover type on bird communities,particularly whether this variation has homogenized biotic communities.Results:Bird communities during breeding seasons were different and complementary in the four land covers.Taxonomic,phylogenetic and functional similarities were significantly lower in meadow than in the other three types,i.e.woodland,village and marsh.However,when we controlled for the effects of taxonomic similarities,the pattern of phylogenetic similarities almost reversed,with the highest standardized effect size(SES)phylogenetic similarity in meadow;and we found no significant difference in SES functional similarity among land covers.Conclusions:Our results suggest that spatial variation of land cover can play a crucial role in regulating multiple dimensions of bird diversity in Zoige Marsh.The findings indicate that taxonomic,phylogenetic and functional homogenization of bird communities may differently response to the variation of land covers.It thus highlights not only the relative roles of different land covers in maintaining biodiversity and community structures of birds,but also the urgency of retarding ecosystem degradations on the eastern Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau.Aichun Xu Maojun Zhong Ke Tang Xiaoyi Wang Chen Yang Haigen Xu Jianfeng Yi Wei Liu Chunlan Zhang Junhua Hu 2021Avian Research2021,12,2:0
10Targeting PDE4 as a promising therapeutic strategy in chronic ulcerative colitis through modulating mucosal homeostasis显示文摘Phosphodiesterase-4(PDE4) functions as a catalyzing enzyme targeting hydrolyzation of intracellular cyclic adenosine monophosphate(c AMP) and inhibition of PDE4 has been proven to be a competitive strategy for dermatological and pulmonary inflammation. However, the pathological role of PDE4 and the therapeutic feasibility of PDE4 inhibitors in chronic ulcerative colitis(UC) are less clearly understood. This study introduced apremilast, a breakthrough in discovery of PDE4 inhibitors,to explore the therapeutic capacity in dextran sulfate sodium(DSS)-induced experimental murine chronic UC. In the inflamed tissues, overexpression of PDE4 isoforms and defective c AMP-mediating pathway were firstly identified in chronic UC patients. Therapeutically, inhibition of PDE4 by apremilast modulated c AMP-predominant protein kinase A(PKA)-c AMP-response element binding protein(CREB)signaling and ameliorated the clinical symptoms of chronic UC, as evidenced by improvements on mucosal ulcerations, tissue fibrosis, and inflammatory infiltrations. Consequently, apremilast maintained a normal intestinal physical and chemical barrier function and rebuilt the mucosal homeostasis by interfering with the cross-talk between human epithelial cells and immune cells. Furthermore, we found that apremilast could remap the landscape of gut microbiota and exert regulatory effects on antimicrobial responses and the function of mucus in the gut microenvironment.
