| 1 | Discrimination of the rare medicinal plant Dendrobium officinale based on naringenin, bibenzyl, and polysaccharides显示文摘The aim of this study was to establish a method for discriminating Dendrobium officinale from four of its close relatives Dendrobium chrysanthum, Dendrobium crystallinum, Dendrobium aphyllum and Dendrobium devonianum based on chemical composition analysis. We analyzed 62 samples of 24 Dendrobium species. High performance liquid chromatography analysis confirmed that the four low molecular weight compounds 4′,5,7-trihydroxyflavanone (naringenin), 3,4-dihydroxy-4′,5-dime- thoxybibenzyl (DDB-2), 3′,4-dihydroxy-3,5′-dimethoxybibenzyl (gigantol), and 4,4′-dihydroxy-3,3′,5-trimethoxybibenzyl (moscatilin), were common in the genus. The phenol-sulfuric acid method was used to quantify polysaccharides, and the monosaccharide composition of the polysaccharides was determined by gas chromatography. Stepwise discriminant analysis was used to differentiate among the five closely related species based on the chemical composition analysis. This proved to be a simple and accurate approach for discriminating among these species. The results also showed that the polysaccharide content, the amounts of the four low molecular weight compounds, and the mannose to glucose ratio, were important factors for species discriminant. | 2 | Effect of exposure to ambient PM2.5 pollution on the risk of respiratory tract diseases: a meta-analysis of cohort studies显示文摘The International Agency for Research on Cancer and the World Health Organization have designated airborne particulates,including particulates of median aerodynamic diameter < 2.5um(PM_(2.5)),as Group 1 carcinogens.It has not been determined,however,whether exposure to ambient PM_(2.5) is associated with an increase in respiratory related diseases.This meta-analysis assessed the association between exposure to ambient fine particulate matter(PM_(2.5)) and the risk of respiratory tract diseases,using relevant articles extracted from PubMed,Web of Science,and Embase.In results,of the 1,126 articles originally identified,35(3.1%) were included in this meta-analysis.PM_(2.5)was found to be associated with respiratory tract diseases.After subdivision by age group,respiratory tract disease,and continent,PM_(2.5) was strongly associated with respiratory tract diseases in children,in persons with cough,lower respiratory illness,and wheezing,and in individuals from North America,Europe,and Asia.The risk of respiratory tract diseases was greater for exposure to traffic-related than non-traffic-related air pollution.In children,the pooled relative risk(RR) represented significant increases in wheezing(8.2%),cough(7.5%),and lower respiratory illness(15.3%).The pooled RRs in children were 1.091(95%CI:1.049,1.135) for exposure to<25 μg/m^3 PM_(2.5),and 1.126(95%CI:1.067,1.190) for exposure to > 25 μg/m^3 PM_(2.5).In conclusion,exposure to ambient PM_(2.5) was significantly associated with the development of respiratory tract diseases,especially in children exposed to high concentrations of PM_(2.5). | Qian Liu Cheng Xu Guixiang Ji Hui Liu Wentao Shao Chunlan Zhang Aihua Gu Peng Zhao | 2017 | The Journal of Biomedical Research2017,31,2: | 16 |
| 3 | Efficient InGaN-based yellow-light-emitting diodes显示文摘Realization of efficient yellow-light-emitting diodes(LEDs) has always been a challenge in solid-state lighting.Great effort has been made, but only slight advancements have occurred in the past few decades. After comprehensive work on InGaN-based yellow LEDs on Si substrate, we successfully made a breakthrough and pushed the wall-plug efficiency of 565-nm-yellow LEDs to 24.3% at 20 A∕cm^2 and 33.7% at 3 A∕cm^2. | 8 | Revisiting and Rethinking Regional Urbanization in Changjiang River Delta,China显示文摘China is entering a critical and accelerating phase of urbanization.As one of the most urbanized regions in China,the Changjiang(Yangtze)River Delta has experienced dramatic urbanization and urban transformation.However,in the recent years,many changes have taken place in this region and there is limited attention to the regional urbanization path evolution,its problems and the way to solve these problems.Therefore,we should revisit the urbanization process in the Changjiang River Delta again.In this paper,we revisited urbanization paths of the Changjiang River Delta by data analysis,influence factors of urbanization by the Gray Relational Analysis,and major challenges to urbanization of the Changjiang River Delta by theoretical considerations.We found that the urbanization of the Changjiang River Delta had experienced several stages of large-scale spatial and urban system restructuring.Within the Changjiang River Delta,Shanghai,Zhejiang and Jiangshu had experienced different urbanization path with local characteristics.But with their development model gradually converging,their urbanization model is also converging.We also found that the major influence factors affecting the Changjiang River Delta urbanization were dynamic change and urbanization was driven by different key factors in different socio-economic development stages.Meanwhile,the Changjiang River Delta urbanization is facing many problems such as existing institutional arrangements,including the hukou(household registration)system and others which can not meet the needs of current socioeconomic development and urbanization.Therefore,it is imperative to promote institutional innovation and adopt a new urbanization development strategy for the sake of the orderly and sustainable urbanization development in the Changjiang River Delta. | YANG Shangguang Mark Yaolin WANG WANG Chunlan | 2012 | Chinese Geographical Science2012,22,5: | 5 |
| 9 | Cluster of solar active regions and onset of coronal mass ejections显示文摘round-the-clock solar observations with full-disk coverage of vector magnetograms and multi-wavelength images demonstrate that solar active regions(ARs) are ultimately connected with magnetic field. Often two or more ARs are clustered, creating a favorable magnetic environment for the onset of coronal mass ejections(CMEs). In this work, we describe a new type of magnetic complex: cluster of solar ARs. An AR cluster is referred to as the close connection of two or more ARs which are located in nearly the same latitude and a narrow span of longitude. We illustrate three examples of AR clusters, each of which has two ARs connected and formed a common dome of magnetic flux system. They are clusters of NOAA(i.e., National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) ARs 11226 & 11227, 11429 & 11430, and 11525 & 11524. In these AR clusters, CME initiations were often tied to the instability of the magnetic structures connecting two partner ARs, in the form of inter-connecting loops and/or channeling filaments between the two ARs. We show the evidence that, at least, some of the flare/CMEs in an AR cluster are not a phenomenon of a single AR, but the result of magnetic interaction in the whole AR cluster. The observations shed new light on understanding the mechanism(s) of solar activity. | 11 | Decomposition Analysis of Sectoral Energy Use in Beijing (1981-2005) Using the LMDI Method显示文摘This paper aims to identify the main driving force for changes of total primary energy consumption in Beijing during the period of 1981-2005.Sectoral energy use was investigated when regional economic structure changed significantly.The changes of total primary energy consumption in Beijing are decomposed into production effects,structural effects and intensity effects using the additive version of the logarithmic mean Divisia index (LMDI) method.Aggregate decomposition analysis showed that the major contributor of total effect was made by the production effect fol- lowed by the intensity effect,and the structural effect was rela- tively insignificant.The total and production effects were all posi- tive.In contrast,the structural effect and intensity effect were all negative.Sectoral decomposition investigation indicated that the most effective way to slow down the growth rate of total primary energy consumption (TPEC) was to reduce the production of the energy-intensive industrial sectors and improving industrial en- ergy intensity.The results show that in this period,Beijing's economy has undergone a transformation from an industrial to a service economy.However,the structures of sectoral energy use have not been changed yet,and energy demand should be in- creasing until the energy-intensive industrial production to be reduced and energy intensity of the region reaches a peak.As sequence energy consumption data of sub-sectors are not available, only the fundamental three sectors are considered:agriculture, industry and service.However,further decomposition into secon- dary and tertiary sectors is definitely needed for detailed investi- gations. | Liu Chunlan Xie Gaodi Cai Bofeng | 2008 | Chinese Journal of Population,Resources and Environment2008,6,2: | 3 |
| 12 | Relationships between tree-ring cell features of Pinus koraiensis and climate factors in the Changbai Mountains,Northeastern China显示文摘Anatomical characteristics have been proven useful for extracting climatic signals. To examine the climatic signals recorded by tree-ring cell features in the Changbai Mountains, we measured cell number and cell lumen diameter, in addition to ring widths, of Korean pine(Pinus koraiensis) tree rings at sites of varied elevation,and we developed chronologies of cell number(CN), mean lumen diameter(MLD), maximum lumen diameter(MAXLD) and tree-ring width(TRW). The chronologies were correlated with climatic factors monthly mean temperature and the sum of precipitation. As shown by our analysis, the cell parameter chronologies were suitable for dendroclimatology studies. CN and TRW shared relatively similar climatic signals which differed from MLD andMAXLD, and growth-climate relationships were elevationdependent, as shown by the following findings:(1) at each elevation, MLD and MAXLD recorded different monthly climatic signals from those recorded by TRW for the same climatic factors; and(2) MLD and MAXLD recorded climatic factors that were absent from TRW at lower and middle elevations. | 13 | ICESat/GLAS-derived changes in the water level of Hulun Lake, Inner Mongolia, from 2003 to 2009显示文摘Hulun Lake is the largest freshwater lake innorthern Inner Mongolia and even minor changes in itslevel may have major effects on the ecology of the lake andthe surrounding area. In this study, we used high-precisionelevation data for the interval from 2003-2009 measuredby the Geoscience Laser Altimetry System (GLAS) onboard the Ice, Cloud, and land Elevation Satellite (ICESat)to assess annual and seasonal water level variations ofHulun Lake. The altimetry data of 32 satellite tracks wereprocessed using the RANdom SAmple Consensus algo-rithm (RANSAC) to eliminate elevation outliers, andsubsequently the Normalized Difference Water Index(NDWI) was used to delineate the area of the lake. From2003-2009, the shoreline of Hulun Lake retreatedwestwards, which was especially notable in the southernpart of the lake. There was only a small decrease in waterlevel, from 530.72 m to 529.22 m during 2003-2009, anaverage rate of 0.08 m/yr. The area of the lake decreased ata rate of 49.52 km^2/yr, which was mainly the result of theshallow bathymetry in the southern part of the basin. Thedecrease in area was initially rapid, then much slower, andfinally rapid again. Generally, the lake extent and waterlevel decreased due to higher temperatures, intenseevaporation, low precipitation, and decreasing runoff.And their fluctuations were caused by a decrease in intra-annual temperature, evaporation, and a slight increase inprecipitation. Overall, a combination of factors related toclimate change were responsible for the variations of thewater level of Hulun Lake during the study interval. | 14 | Brood sex ratio in the Yellow-bellied Prinia(Prinia flaviventris)显示文摘Background:The adjustment of sex ratios in birds can occur at the egg and nestling stages. Previous studies showed that the sex ratio was affected by environmental factors and parental condition; it may result in seasonal and ecosystem differences.Methods:In this study, the brood sex ratio of the Yellow-bellied Prinia(Prinia flaviventris) in the Nonggang area, Guangxi, southwestern China, was investigated during the breeding season from May to June in 2013 using PCR amplification from whole-genome DNA extracted from blood samples. A total of 31 nests of Yellow-bellied Prinia, including 132 brood fledglings and 31 pairs, were sampled.Results:The results showed that the brood sex ratio of the Yellow-bellied Prinia was 1:1, and sex ratios of different nests were evenly distributed within the study area. No significant relationship was found between parental quality and nest characteristics with the brood sex ratio.Conclusions:The present study indicated that no brood sex ratio bias in the Yellow-bellied Prinia highlighted the complexity of sex ratio adjustment in birds. | 15 | Emergence and cancellation of small-scale magnetic flux in a quiet region显示文摘This paper studies the relationship between the development of granules and emergence (cancellation) of magnetic flux at small spatial scales (~1 ) in a quiet region taken with the spectro-polarimeter (SP) of the Solar Optical Telescope (SOT) aboard the Hinode satellite. By examining 6 granular cell events, we have uncovered that a granular structure develops in a regular shape with a size as large as 2-3 , while the granule is pure, i.e. no magnetic flux emerges in the granule during its development. However, a granular structure develops in an irregular shape while emerging flux accompanies the granular development. Magnetic flux cancellation takes place between new emerging flux and pre-existing one. The transverse magnetic field significantly appears at the place where a tiny bipole emerges and where two opposite polarities cancel each other, but only the transverse field of emerging bipole points from the positive element to the negative element. In some cases, violent Doppler blueshifts at the early emerging stage of the magnetic elements appear. | 16 | The Changes in Guilin Paddy Soil Organic Matter and Rice Yield under Long-Term Fertilization显示文摘Rational fertilization is an important measure to increase crop yield and soil fertility. Through analysis,this paper aims to master the change characteristics of soil organic matter and rice yield under different fertilizer treatments,in order to provide an important reference for the sustainable use of soil and effective fertilization. Long-term( 19 years) rice crop rotation experiments in waterloggogenic paddy soil were conducted to investigate the change trend of crop grain yield and soil organic matter with time,reveal the dynamic characteristics and relationship between main fertility factors and crop yields using comparative analysis at three sites with conventional fertilization and non-fertilization in Guilin. The results showed that compared with previous years,the rice yield increased by 53% under the fertilization treatment and degreased by 66% under the control. Over the years,the average soil organic matter( SOM) content under fertilization treatment was 23% higher than under CK treatment. | 17 | Altitudinal Variation in Digestive Tract Lengh in Feirana quadranus显示文摘Selective pressures favor variation in organ size in response to environmental changes and evolutionary process. In particular, changes in environmental temperature and rainfall at different altitudes often affect food resources, thereby mediating energy intake and allocation. The digestive tract provided a functional relationship between energy intake and allocation, of which gut morphology was associated with diet changes and food quality under different environments. Here we studied altitudinal variation in the digestive tract across four Feirana quadranus populations and tested the hypothesis that relative size of digestive tract should increase with increasing altitude. The results showed that although significant variation in length of the digestive tract was observed in females among populations, altitudinal variation in relative length of digestive tract or gut was non-significant. In addition, the digestive tract length was not correlated with temperature and precipitation across the four populations. | 20 | Retinoic acid can improve autophagy through depression of the PI3K-Akt-mTOR signaling pathway via RARαto restore spermatogenesis in cryptorchid infertile rats显示文摘Cryptorchidism-caused adult infertility is a common component of idiopathic reasons for male infertility.Retinoic acid(RA)has a vital effect on the spermatogenesis process.Here,we found that the expression of c-Kit,Stra8,and Sycp3 could be up-regulated via the activation of retinoic acid receptorα(RARα)after RA supplementation in neonatal cryptorchid infertile rats.We also demonstrated that the protein expression of PI3K,p-Akt/pan-Akt,and p-mTOR/mTOR was higher in cryptorchid than in normal testes,and could be suppressed with RA in vivo.After RA treatment in infertile cryptorchid testis in vivo,the levels of the autophagy proteins LC3 and Beclin1 increased and those of P62 decreased.Biotin tracer indicated that the permeability of blood-testis barrier(BTB)in cryptorchid rats decreased after RA administration.Additionally,after blocking the RARαwith AR7(an RARαantagonist)in testicle culture in vitro,we observed that compared with normal testes,the PI3K-Akt-mTOR signaling pathway and the autophagy pathway was increased and decreased,respectively,which were coincident with cryptorchisd testes in vivo.Additionally,the appropriate concentrations of RA treatment could depress the PI3K-Akt-mTOR signaling pathway and improve the autophagy pathway.The results confirmed that RA can rehabilitate BTB function and drive key protein levels in spermatogonial differentiation through depressing the PI3K-Akt-mTOR signaling pathway via RARα. | Chunlan Long Yu Zhou Lianju Shen Yihang Yu Dong Hu Xing Liu Tao Lin Dawei He Tao Xu Deying Zhang Jing Zhu Guanghui Wei | 2022 | Genes & Diseases2022,9,5: | 2 |
