| 1 | Analysis of PM2.5 concentrations in Heilongjiang Province associated with forest cover and other factors显示文摘Atmospheric particulate matter(PM2.5) seriously influences air quality. It is considered one of the main environmental triggers for lung and heart diseases. Air pollutants can be adsorbed by forest. In this study we investigated the effect of forest cover on urban PM2.5 concentrations in 12 cities in Heilongjiang Province,China. The forest cover in each city was constant throughout the study period. The average daily concentration of PM2.5 in 12 cities was below 75 lg/m^3 during the non-heating period but exceeded this level during heating period. Furthermore, there were more moderate pollution days in six cities. This indicated that forests had the ability to reduce the concentration of PM2.5 but the main cause of air pollution was excessive human interference and artificial heating in winter. We classified the 12 cities according to the average PM2.5 concentrations. The relationship between PM2.5 concentrations and forest cover was obtained by integrating forest cover, land area,heated areas and number of vehicles in cities. Finally,considering the complexity of PM2.5 formation and based on the theory of random forestry, we selected six cities and analyzed their meteorological and air pollutant data. | 2 | Active spintronic-metasurface terahertz emitters with tunable chirality显示文摘The ability to generate and manipulate broadband chiral terahertz waves is essential for applications in material imaging,terahertz sensing,and diagnosis.It can also open up new possibilities for nonlinear terahertz spectroscopy and coherent control of chiral molecules and magnetic materials.The existing methods,however,often suffer from low efficiency,narrow bandwidth,or poor flexibility.Here,we propose a novel type of laser-driven terahertz emitters,consisting of metasurface-patterned magnetic multilayer heterostructures,that can overcome the shortcomings of the conventional approaches.Such hybrid terahertz emitters combine the advantages of spintronic emitters for being ultrabroadband,efficient,and highly flexible,as well as those of metasurfaces for the powerful control capabilities over the polarization state of emitted terahertz waves on an ultracompact platform.Taking a stripe-patterned metasurface as an example,we demonstrate the efficient generation and manipulation of broadband chiral terahertz waves.The ellipticity can reach>0.75 over a broad terahertz bandwidth(1 to 5 THz),representing a high-quality and efficient source for few-cycle circularly polarized terahertz pulses with stable carrier waveforms.Flexible control of ellipticity and helicity is also demonstrated with our systematic experiments and numerical simulations.We show that the terahertz polarization state is dictated by the interplay between laser-induced spintronic-origin currents and the screening charges/currents in the metasurfaces,which exhibits tailored anisotropic properties due to the predesigned geometric confinement effects.Our work opens a new pathway to metasurface-tailored spintronic emitters for efficient vector-control of electromagnetic waves in the terahertz regime. | Changqin Liu Shunjia Wang Sheng Zhang Qingnan Cai Peng Wang Chuanshan Tian Lei Zhou Yizheng Wu Zhensheng Tao | 2021 | Advanced Photonics2021,3,5: | 4 |

| 4 | Solitary beam propagation in periodic layered Kerr media enables high-efficiency pulse compression and mode self-cleaning显示文摘Generating intense ultrashort pulses with high-quality spatial modes is crucial for ultrafast and strong-field science and can be achieved by nonlinear supercontinuum generation(SCG)and pulse compression.In this work,we propose that the generation of quasi-stationary solitons in periodic layered Kerr media can greatly enhance the nonlinear lightmatter interaction and fundamentally improve the performance of SCG and pulse compression in condensed media.With both experimental and theoretical studies,we successfully identify these solitary modes and reveal their unified condition for stability.Space-time coupling is shown to strongly influence the stability of solitons,leading to variations in the spectral,spatial and temporal profiles of femtosecond pulses.Taking advantage of the unique characteristics of these solitary modes,we first demonstrate single-stage SCG and the compression of femtosecond pulses from 170 to 22 fs with an efficiency>85%.The high spatiotemporal quality of the compressed pulses is further confirmed by highharmonic generation.We also provide evidence of efficient mode self-cleaning,which suggests rich spatiotemporal self-organization of the laser beams in a nonlinear resonator This work offers a route towards highly efficient,simple,stable and highly flexible SCG and pulse compression solutions for state-of-the-art ytterbium laser technology. | Sheng Zhang Zongyuan Fu Bingbing Zhu Guangyu Fan Yudong Chen Shunjia Wang Yaxin Liu Andrius Baltuska Cheng Jin Chuanshan Tian Zhensheng Tao | 2021 | Light(Science & Applications)2021,10,4: | 3 |

| 6 | A novel scheme for ultrashort terahertz pulse generation over a gapless wide spectral range:Raman-resonance-enhanced four-wave mixing显示文摘Ultrashort energetic terahertz(THz)pulses have created an exciting new area of research on light interactions with matter.For material studies in small laboratories,widely tunable femtosecond THz pulses with peak field strength close to MV cm-1 are desired.Currently,they can be largely acquired by optical rectification and difference frequency generation in crystals without inversion symmetry.We describe in this paper a novel scheme of THz pulse generation with no frequency tuning gap based on Raman-resonance-enhanced four-wave mixing in centrosymmetric media,particularly diamond.We show that we could generate highly stable,few-cycle pulses with near-Gaussian spatial and temporal profiles and carrier frequency tunable from 5 to>2o THz.They had a stable and controllable carrier-envelop phase and carried~15 nJ energy per pulse at 10 THz(with a peak field strength of~1 MV cm^(-1)at focus)from a O.5-mm-thick diamond.The measured THz pulse characteristics agreed well with theoretical predictions.Other merits of the scheme are discussed,including the possibility of improving the THz output energy to a much higher level. | Jiaming Le Yudan Su Chuanshan Tian A.H.Kung Y.Ron Shen | 2023 | Light(Science & Applications)2023,12,2: | 2 |
