3Molecular architecture of the luminal ring of the Xenopus laevis nuclear pore complex显示文摘The nuclear pore complex(NPC)mediates the flow of substances between the nucleus and cytoplasm in eukaryotic cells.Here we report the cryo-electron tomography(cryo-ET)structure of the luminal ring(LR)of the NPC from Xenopus laevis oocyte.The observed key structural features of the LR are independently confirmed by single-particle cryo-electron microscopy(cryo-EM)analysis.The LR comprises eight butterfly-shaped subunits,each containing two symmetric wings.Each wing consists of four elongated,tubular protomers.Within the LR subunit,the eight protomers form a Finger domain,which directly contacts the fusion between the inner and outer nuclear membranes and a Grid domain,which serves as a rigid base for the Finger domain.Two neighboring LR subunits interact with each other through the lateral edges of their wings to constitute a Bumper domain,which displays two major conformations and appears to cushion neighboring NPCs.Our study reveals previously unknown features of the LR and potentially explains the elastic property of the NPC.Yanqing Zhang Sai Li Chao Zeng Gaoxingyu Huang Xuechen Zhu Qifan Wang Kunpeng Wang Qiang Zhou Chuangye Yan Wusheng Zhang Guangwen Yang Minhao Liu Qinghua Tao Jianlin Lei Yigong Shi 2020Cell Research2020,30,6:4

5Structure of the cytoplasmic ring of the Xenopus laevis nuclear pore complex by cryo-electron microscopy single particle analysis显示文摘The nuclear pore complex(NPC)exhibits structural plasticity and has only been characterized at local resolutions of up to 15 A for the cytoplasmic ring(CR).Here we present a single-particle cryo-electron microscopy(cryo-EM)structure of the CR from Xenopus laevis NPC at average resolutions of 5.5-7.9A,with local resolutions reaching 4.5 A.Improved resolutions allow identification and placement of secondary structural elements in the majority of the CR components.The two Y complexes in each CR subunit interact with each other and associate with those from flanking subunits,forming a circular scaffold.Within each CR subunit,the Nup358-containing region wraps around the stems of both Y complexes,likely stabilizing the scaffold.Nup205 connects the short arms of the two Y complexes and associates with the stem of a neighboring Y complex.The Nup214-containing region uses an extended coiled-coil to link Nup85 of the two Y complexes and protrudes into the axial pore of the NPC.These previously uncharacterized structural features reveal insights into NPC assembly.Gaoxingyu Huang Yanqing Zhang Xuechen Zhu Chao Zeng Qifan Wang Qiang Zhou Qinghua Tao Minhao Liu Jianlin Lei Chuangye Yan Yigong Shi 2020Cell Research2020,30,6:2

16Genetic architecture of leaf morphology revealed by integrated trait module in Catalpa bungei显示文摘Leaves are crucial for maintaining plant growth and development via photosynthesis,and their function is simultaneously regulated by a suite of phenotypic traits.Although much is known about the genetic architecture of individual leaf traits,unraveling the genetic basis of complex leafmorphology remains a challenge.Based on the functional correlation and coordination ofmulti-traits,we divided 15 leaf morphological traits into three modules,comprising size(area,length,width,and perimeter),shape(leaf lobes,aspect ratio,circularity,rectangularity,and the relevant ratios),and color(red,green,and blue)for an ornamental tree species,Catalpa bungei.A total of 189 significant single-nucleotide polymorphisms were identified in the leaves of C.bungei:35,82,and 76 in the size,shape,and color modules,respectively.Four quantitative trait loci were common between the size and shape modules,which were closely related according to phenotype correlation,genetic mapping,and mRNA analysis.The color module was independent of them.Synergistic changes in the aspect ratio,leaf lobe,and circularity suggest that these traits could be the core indicators of the leaf shape module.The LAS and SRK genes,associated with leaf lobe and circularity,were found to function in plant defense mechanisms and the growth of leaves.The associations between the SRK and CRK2 genes and the leaf lobe and circularity traits were further verified by RT-qPCR.Our findings demonstrate the importance of integrating multi-trait modules to characterize leaf morphology and facilitate a holistic understanding of the genetic architecture of intraspecific leaf morphology diversity.Miaomiao Zhang Bingyang Liu Yue Fei Xiaowei Yang Linjiao Zhao Chaozhong Shi Yueying Zhang Nan Lu Chuangye Wu Wenjun Ma Junhui Wang 2023Horticulture Research2023,10,4:0
17Facile synthesis of hollow Ti_(3)AlC_(2)microrods in molten salts via Kirkendall effect显示文摘The microstructure and morphology of Ti_(3)AlC_(2)powders not only affect the preparation of Ti_(3)C_(2) MXene but also have a great influence on their potential applications,such as microwave absorbers,alloy additives,or catalytic supports.However,the synthesis of Ti_(3)AlC_(2)powders with desired microstructure and morphology remains a challenge.Herein,hollow Ti_(3)AlC_(2)microrods were prepared for the first time in NaCl/KCl molten salts by using titanium,aluminum,and short carbon fibers as starting materials.It was found that the short carbon fibers not only performed as carbon source but also acted as sacrificial template.Furthermore,it was revealed that TiC and Ti2AlC were initially formed on the surface of carbon fibers.The subsequent reactions between the outer Ti,Al and the inner carbon were dominated by the Kirkendall effect which gave rise to the formation of a hollow structure.Based on this mechanism,hollow Ti_(3)AlC_(2)microspheres and a series of hollow TiC,Ti_(2)AlC,and V_(2)AlC powders were also successfully fabricated.This work provides a facile route to synthesize hollow MAX phases and may give enlightenment on preparing other hollow carbide powders via the Kirkendall effect in the molten salts.Yi LIU Chuangye WANG Wei LUO Liang BAI Yang XU Xiaodong HAO Jianfeng ZHU Shouwu GUO 2022Journal of Advanced Ceramics2022,11,9:0

20Ionic liquid engineering enabled in-plane orientated 1D perovskite nanorods for efficient mixed-dimensional perovskite photovoltaics显示文摘Mixed-dimensional engineering of perovskite material has been demonstrated as a facile and promising strategy to improve both photovoltaic performance and long-term stability of perovskite solar cells(PSCs).In this study,we report an in-plane preferred orientation of 1D perovskite induced by an ionic liquid(IL)of 1-(3-cyanopropyl)-3-methylimidazolium chloride(CPMIMCl)for the first time via sequential deposition approach,leading to a mixed dimensional perovskite thin films.The generated one-dimensional(1D)CPMIMPbI3 with in-plane orientation resides at the grain boundaries of three-dimensional(3D)perovskite can be appreciably observed from the morphology level,leading to creation of high-quality films with large grain size with more efficient defect passivation.Moreover,the dispersion of IL in the bulk phase of perovskite material allows for the formation of 1D perovskite for multiple level passivation to inhibit non-radiative recombination and optimize carrier transport.This IL engineering strategy not only yields a mixed-dimensional perovskite heterostructure with in-plane orientation 1D perovskite nano-rods but also significantly improves the opto-electronic property with suppressed trap states.As a result,the CPMIMCl-treated PSCs show an enhanced photovoltaic performance with a champion power conversion efficiency(PCE)up to 24.13%.More importantly,benefiting from the hydrophobicity of formed 1D perovskite and defects suppression,the corresponding PSC demonstrates an excellent longterm stability and maintain 97.1%of its pristine PCE at 25C under 50%RH condition over 1000 h.This research provides an innovative perspective for employing the low dimensional engineering to optimize the performance and stability of photovoltaic devices.Fei Wang Dawei Duan Kang Zhou YZBXue Xiao Liang Xianfang Zhou Chuangye Ge Chao Zhou Jin Xiang Jiajie Zhu Quanyao Zhu Haoran Lin Yumeng Shi Yonghua Chen Gang Li Hanlin Hu 2023InfoMat2023,5,8:0
