2bHLH121 Functions as a Direct Link that Facilitates the Activation of FIT by bHLH IVc Transcription Factors for Maintaining Fe Homeostasis in Arabidopsis显示文摘Iron(Fe)deficiency is prevalent in plants grown in neutral or alkaline soil.Plants have evolved sophisticated mechanisms that regulate Fe homeostasis,ensuring survival.In Arabidopsis,FER-LIKE IRON DEFICIENCY-INDUCED TRANSCRIPTION FACTOR(FIT)is a crucial regulator of Fe-deficiency response.FIT is activated indirectly by basic helix-loop-helix(bHLH)IVc transcription factors(TFs)under Fed eficiency;how ever,it remains unclear which protein(s)act as the linker to mediate the activation of FIT by bHLH IVc TFs.In this study,we characterize the functions of bHLH121 and demonstrate that it directly associates with the FIT promoter.We found that loss-of-function mutations of bHLH121 cause severe Fedeficiency symptoms,reduced Feaccum ulation,and disrupted expression of genes associated with Fehomeostasis.Genetic analysis showed that FIT is epistatic to bHLH121 and FIT overexpression partially rescues the bhlh121 mutant.Further investigations revealed that bHLH IVc TFs interact with and promote nuclear accumulation of bHLH121.We demonstrated that bHLH121 has DNA-binding activity and can bind the prom oters of the FIT and bHLHlb genes,but we did not find that it has either direct transcriptional activation or repression activity tow ard these genes.Meanw hile,we found that bHLH121 functions downstream of and is a direct target of bHLH IVc TFs,and its expression is induced by Fe deficiency in a bHLH IV c-dependent manner.Taken together,these results establish that bHLH121 functions together with bHLH IVc TFs to positively regulate the expression of FIT and thus plays a pivotal role in maintaining Fe homeostasis in Arabidopsis.Rihua Lei Yang Li Yuerong Cai Chenyang Li Mengna Pu Chengkai Lu Yujie Yang Gang Liang 2020Molecular Plant2020,13,4:14

4MYC2, MYC3, and MYC4 function additively in wounding-induced jasmonic acid biosynthesis and catabolism显示文摘Jasmonic acid(JA)plays a critical role in plant defenses against insects and necrotrophic fungi.Wounding or lepidopteran insect feeding rapidly induces a burst of JA in plants,which usually reaches peak values within 1 to 2 h.The induced JA is converted to JA-Ile and perceived by the COI1-JAZ co-receptor,leading to activation of the transcription factors MYC2 and its homologs,which further induce JA-responsive genes.Although much is known about JA biosynthesis and catabolism enzymes and JA signaling,how JA biosynthesis and catabolism are regulated remain unclear.Here,we show that in Arabidopsis thaliana MYC2 functions additively with MYC3 and MYC4 to regulate wounding-induced JA accumulation by directly binding to the promoters of genes function in JA biosynthesis and catabolism to promote their transcription.MYC2 also controls the transcription of JAV1 and JAM1,which are key factors controlling JA biosynthesis and catabolism,respectively.In addition,we also found that MYC2 could bind to the MYC2 promoter and self-inhibit its own expression.This work illustrates the central role of MYC2/3/4 in controlling wounding-induced JA accumulation by regulating the transcription of genes involved in JA biosynthesis and catabolism.Cuiping Zhang Yunting Lei Chengkai Lu Lei Wang Jianqiang Wu 2020Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2020,62,8:6
5Dual loop feedback pre-distortion in satellite communication显示文摘Since the satellite communication goes in the trend of high-frequency and fast speed, the coefficients updating and the precision of the traditional pre-distortion feedback methods need to be further improved. On this basis, this paper proposes dual loop feedback pre-distortion, which uses two first-order Volterra filter models to reduce the computing complexity and a dynamic error adjustment model to construct a revised feedback to ensure a better pre-distortion performance. The computation complexity, iterative convergence speed and precision of the proposed method are theoretically analyzed. 6Microstructure and wear resistance of highchromium cast iron containing niobium显示文摘In the paper, the effect of niobium addition on the microstructure, mechanical properties and wear resistance of high chromium cast iron has been studied. The results show that the microstructure of the heattreated alloys is composed of M7C3 and M23C6 types primary carbide, eutectic carbide, secondary carbide and a matrix of martensite and retained austenite. NbC particles appear both inside and on the edge of the primary carbides. The hardness of the studied alloys maintains around 66 HRC, not significantly affected by the Nb content within the selected range of 0.48%-0.74%. The impact toughness of the alloys increases with increasing niobium content. The wear resistance of the specimens presents little variation in spite of the increase of Nb content under a light load of 40 N. 7ZnCo2O4/ZnO induced lithium deposition in multi-scaled carbon/nickel frameworks for dendrite-free lithium metal anode显示文摘Lithium metal attracts growing attention as an ideal anode candidate for next generation lithium battery systems owing to its high capacity,low density,and low working potential.However,the volume expansion of the bulk and dendrite growth on the surface of lithium anode limits its practical application.Herein,we fabricate a composite lithium host featuring both multiple scaled structure and lithiophilic property to address obstacles at both aspects of bulk and surface simultaneously.In which,the multiple scaled structure provides void space to accommodate lithium volume change while zinc and cobalt oxides sites derived from Zeolitic Imidazolate Frameworks can react with lithium and form a stable solid electrolyte interphase,leading to a stable cycling of lithium symmetrical cell for more than 500 cycles with voltage hysteresis of only 88 mV at 2 mAcm^-2 and 5 mAh cm^-2.Moreover,full cells paired with LiFePO4 cathode can realize 500 cycles with 99.2%capacity retention,showing great potential for practical applications.The excellent electrochemical performance of the composite lithium anode proves the effectiveness of our anode design with multiple scaled structure and lithiophilic feature,which can be also expanded to other metal anodes for batteries.Kai Wu Binglu Zhao Chengkai Yang Qian Wang Wen Liu Henghui Zhou 2020Journal of Energy Chemistry2020,29,4:4
8New Early Cretaceous Pterosaur-Bird Track Assemblage from Xinjiang, China:Palaeoethology and Palaeoenvironment显示文摘A pterosaur-bird track assemblage from a sandstone-siltstone-mudstone sequence of the Lower Cretaceous Tugulu Group of Xinjiang comprises the first pterosaur track record from this province and the largest specimen thus far known from China.The pterosaur tracks are assigned to the ichnogenus Pteraichnus based on the triangular overall-shape,the four elongate digit traces and the robust manual digit trace III.Supposed trackmakers were dsungaripterid pterodactyloids whose skeletal remains are well known from the Tugulu Group.The bird tracks that occur on the same surface,are those of typical shorebirds,known from different other localities in southeast Asia.The congruence with Koreanaornis dodsoni described from the same stratigraphic level justifies an assignment to this ichnospecies.This is a further evidence of the co-occurrence of pterosaurs and birds in a typical lakeshore environment with possible seasonal alteration of water supply and aerial exposure indicated by wave ripples,mudcracks and repeated cycles of coarse to fine sediment.Pterosaurs and birds frequented the shoreline and may have fed also on the numerous invertebrates such as the Scoyenia tracemaker that left abundant burrows.HE Qing XING Lida ZHANG Jianping Martin G.LOCKLEY Hendrik KLEIN W.Scott PERSONS IV QI Liqi JIA Chengkai 2013Acta Geologica Sinica(English Edition)2013,87,6:4
9Surface roughness and removal rate in magnetorheological finishing of a subsurface damage free surface显示文摘Based on computer-controlled optical surfacing, a new technique called magnetorheological finishing (MRF), is presented. The new technique combines the features of conventional loose abrasive machining with a wheel shaped polishing tool. The tool incorporates a host of features and has unprecedented fabricating versatility. The pre-polishing and fine polishing processes can be performed only by adjusting different parameters. The material removal function is studied theoretically and the results of simulation present a Gaussian distribution feature. Based on the established theoretical model, material removal rate experiments involving a parabolic mirror are designed and carried out to determine the effect of controllable parameters on size of the gap between the workpiece and the polishing wheel, rotating speed of the polishing wheel, concentration of volume fraction of non-magnetic particles and polishing time. Further experiments are carried out on the surface microstructure of the workpiece, the final surface roughness with an initial value of 10.98 nm reaches 1.22 nm root mean square (RMS) after 20 min of polishing. 10Oryza sativa FER-LIKE FE DEFICIENCY-INDUCED TRANSCRIPTION FACTOR(OsFIT/OsbHLH156)interacts with OsIRO2 to regulate iron homeostasis显示文摘Iron(Fe)is indispensable for the growth and development of plants.It is well known that FER-LIKE FE DEFICIENCY-INDUCED TRANSCRIPTION FACTOR(FIT)is a key regulator of Fe uptake in Arabidopsis.Here,we identify the Oryza sativa FIT(also known as Osb HLH156)as the interacting partner of IRON-RELATED BHLH TRANSCRIPTION FACTOR 2(OsIRO2)that is critical for regulating Fe uptake.The OsIRO2 protein is localized in the cytoplasm and nucleus,but OsFIT facilitates the accumulation of OsIRO2 in the nucleus.Loss-of-function mutations of OsFIT result in decreased Fe accumulation,severe Fe-deficiency symptoms,and disrupted expression of Feuptake genes.In contrast,OsFIT overexpression promotes Fe accumulation and the expression of Fe-uptake genes.Genetic analyses indicate that OsFIT and OsIRO2 function in the same genetic node.Further analyses suggest that OsFIT and OsIRO2 form a functional transcription activation complex to initiate the expression of Fe-uptake genes.Our findings provide a mechanism understanding of how rice maintains Fe homeostasis.Gang Liang Huimin Zhang Yang Li Mengna Pu Yujie Yang Chenyang Li Chengkai Lu Peng Xu Diqiu Yu 2020Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2020,62,5:4
11A multi-axis robot-based bioprinting system supporting natural cell function preservation and cardiac tissue fabrication显示文摘Despite the recent advances in artificial tissue and organ engineering,how to generate large size viable and functional complex organs still remains as a grand challenge for regenerative medicine.Three-dimensional bioprinting has demonstrated its advantages as one of the major methods in fabricating simple tissues,yet it still faces difficulties to generate vasculatures and preserve cell functions in complex organ production.Here,we overcome the limitations of conventional bioprinting systems by converting a six degree-of-freedom robotic arm into a bioprinter,therefore enables cell printing on 3D complex-shaped vascular scaffolds from all directions.We also developed an oil bath-based cell printing method to better preserve cell natural functions after printing.Together with a self-designed bioreactor and a repeated print-and-culture strategy,our bioprinting system is capable to generate vascularized,contractible,and long-term survived cardiac tissues.Such bioprinting strategy mimics the in vivo organ development process and presents a promising solution for in vitro fabrication of complex organs.Zeyu Zhang Chenming Wu Chengkai Dai Qingqing Shi Guoxin Fang Dongfang Xie Xiangjie Zhao Yong-Jin Liu Charlie CLWang Xiu-Jie Wang 2022Bioactive Materials2022,7,12:4
12A sulfur self-doped multifunctional biochar catalyst for overall water splitting and a supercapacitor from Camellia japonica flowers显示文摘A versatile use of a sulfur self-doped biochar derived from Camellia japonica(camellia)flowers is demonstrated as a multifunctional catalyst for overall water splitting and a supercapacitor.The native sulfur content in the camellia flower facilitates in situ self-doping of sulfur,which highly activates the camellia-driven biochar(SA-Came)as a multifunctional catalyst with the enhanced electron-transfer ability and long-term durability.For water splitting,an SA-Came-based electrode is highly stable and shows reaction activities in both hydrogen and oxygen evolution reactions,with overpotentials of 154 and 362 mV at 10 mA cm^(−2),respectively.For supercapacitors,SA-Came achieves a specific capacitance of 125.42 F g^(−1)at 2 A g^(−1)and high cyclic stability in a three-electrode system in a 1 M KOH electrolyte.It demonstrated a high energy density of 34.54 Wh kg^(−1)at a power density of 1600 W kg^(−1)as a symmetric hybrid supercapacitor device with a wide working potential range of 0-1.6 V.Chengkai Xia Subramani Surendran Seulgi Ji Dohun Kim Yujin Chae Jaekyum Kim Minyeong Je Mi-Kyung Han Woo-Seok Choe Chang Hyuck Choi Heechae Choi Jung Kyu Kim Uk Sim 2022Carbon Energy2022,4,4:3
13Elevated CO2 differentially affects tobacco and rice defense against lepidopteran larvae via the jasmonic acid signaling pathway显示文摘Atmospheric CO_2 levels are rapidly increasing due to human activities. However, the effects of elevated CO_2(ECO_2) on plant defense against insects and the underlying mechanisms remain poorly understood. Here we show that ECO_2 increased the photosynthetic rates and the biomass of tobacco and rice plants, and the chewing lepidopteran insects Spodoptera litura and Mythimna separata gained less and more mass on tobacco and rice plants, respectively. Consistently, under ECO_2, the levels of jasmonic acid(JA), the main phytohormone controlling plant defense against these lepidopteran insects, as well as the main defense-related metabolites, were increased and decreased in insectdamaged tobacco and rice plants. Importantly, bioassaysand quantification of defense-related metabolites in tobacco and rice silenced in JA biosynthesis and perception indicate that ECO_2 changes plant resistance mainly by affecting the JA pathway. We further demonstrate that the defensive metabolites, but not total N or protein, are the main factors contributing to the altered defense levels under ECO_2. 15Analytical model of friction behavior during polymer scratching with conical tip显示文摘To investigate the effects of the contact geometry, interfacial friction, and substrate recovery on the behavior of polymer scratching using a conical tip, an analytical model is proposed. The normal stress acting on the contact surface between the tip and the substrate is described as a function of the included angle θ, representing the angle between two planes across the axis of the conical tip, and the attack angle β, representing the angle between the conical surface and the substrate material surface. The effects of the rear contact geometry on the scratch friction between the tip and substrate, represented by recovery angle φ, owing to the instantaneous elastic recovery of the polymer substrate, are also introduced. Validated by the experimental and numerical results from the literature, the proposed analytical model can describe well the scratch coefficient of friction(SCOF), which is defined as the ratio of the tangential force to the normal force. 16Markerless human motion capture by Markov random field and dynamic graph cuts with color constraints显示文摘Currently,many vision-based motion capture systems require passive markers attached to key loca-tions on the human body. However,such systems are intrusive with limited application. The algorithm that we use for human motion capture in this paper is based on Markov random field (MRF) and dynamic graph cuts. It takes full account of the impact of 3D reconstruction error and integrates human motion capture and 3D reconstruction into MRF-MAP framework. For more accurate and robust performance,we extend our algorithm by incorporating color constraints into the pose estimation process. 19A moving object segmentation algorithm for static camera via active contours and GMM显示文摘Moving object segmentation is one of the most challenging issues in computer vision. In this paper,we propose a new algorithm for static camera foreground segmentation. It combines Gaussian mix-ture model (GMM) and active contours method,and produces much better results than conventional background subtraction methods. It formulates foreground segmentation as an energy minimization problem and minimizes the energy function using curve evolution method. Our algorithm integrates the GMM background model,shadow elimination term and curve evolution edge stopping term into energy function. It achieves more accurate segmentation than existing methods of the same type. 20Experimental study and simulation of a three-phase flow stirred bioreactor显示文摘In order to obtain the reasonable operating conditions and minimize the power consumption in the stirred bioreactor, the hydrodynamic experiments in the stirred bioreactor have been taken to obtain the basic data. Subsequently, an Eulerian model for the gas–liquid–solid three phase flow in the stirred bioreactor has been proposed and the CFD simulation has been conducted. By comparing the results of experiment and simulation, it can be concluded that the simulation results were consistent with the experimental data. The inner relationship between operating variables and indicators could be obtained by comparing the results of just suspension speed, gas holdup, power consumption and operational maps, further the reasonable operating conditions could be also determined under the minimum power consumption.
