1China's regional transport dominance: Density, proximity, and accessibility显示文摘Transport infrastructure plays an important role in shaping the configuration of spatial socio-economic structures and influences regional accessibility.This paper defines transport dominance from three aspects:quality,quantity,and advantage,measured by density,proximity,and accessibility indices.County is the basic unit for analysis.The results reveal:(1)Transport dominance statistically follows a partial normal distribution.A very few counties,1.4%of the total,have extremely high transport dominance which strongly supports the socio-economic development in these areas.In contrast,one eighth of all counties have poor transport dominance which impedes local socio-economic development to some extent. The remaining areas,about 70%of the counties,have median transport dominance.(2) Transport dominance is spatially unevenly distributed,with values decreasing gradually from the coastal area to the inland area.Areas in the first-highest level of transport dominance are mainly concentrated in the Yangtze River Delta,the Greater Beijing area,and the Pearl River Delta.Areas in the second-highest level are focused in Chengdu,Chongqing,and Wuhan metropolitan areas.Provincial capitals and a few other counties belong to the third-highest level.JIN Fengjun WANG Chengjin LI Xiuwei WANG Jiao'e 2010Journal of Geographical Sciences2010,20,2:58
2Effects of resource additions on species richness and ANPP in an alpine meadow community显示文摘Aims Theories based on resource additions indicate that plant species richness is mainly determined by the number of limiting resources.However,the individual effects of various limiting resources on species richness and aboveground net primary productivity(ANPP)are less well understood.Here,we analyzed potential linkages between additions of limiting resources,species loss and ANPP increase and further explored the underlying mechanisms.Methods Resources(N,P,K and water)were added in a completely randomized block design to alpine meadow plots in the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau.Plant aboveground biomass,species composition,mean plant height and light availability were measured in each plot.Regression and analysis of variance were used to analyze the responses of these measures to the different resource-addition treatments.Important Findings Species richness decreased with increasing number of added limiting resources,suggesting that plant diversity was apparently determined by the number of limiting resources.Nitrogen was the most important limiting resource affecting species richness,whereas Pand K alone had negligible effects.The largest reduction in species richness occurred when all three elements were added in combination.Water played a different role compared with the other limiting resources.Species richness increased when water was added to the treatments with N and P or with N,P and K.The decreases in species richness after resource additions were paralleled by increases in ANPP and decreases in light penetration into the plant canopy,suggesting that increased light competitionwas responsible for the negative effects of resource additions on plant species richness.Zhengwei Ren Qi Li Chengjin Chu Luqiang Zhao Jieqi Zhang Dexiecuo Ai Yingbo Yang Gang Wang 2010Journal of Plant Ecology2010,3,1:40
3On filter-successive linearization methods for nonlinear semidefinite programming显示文摘In this paper we present a filter-successive linearization method with trust region for solutions of nonlinear semidefinite programming. Such a method is based on the concept of filter for nonlinear programming introduced by Fletcher and Leyffer in 2002. We describe the new algorithm and prove its global convergence under weaker assumptions. 4Limit analysis of extended reach drilling in South China Sea显示文摘Extended reach wells (ERWs), especially horizontal extended reach well with a high HD (horizontal displacement) to TVD (true vertical depth) ratio, represent a frontier technology and challenge the drilling limitations. Oil and gas reservoir in beaches or lakes and offshore can be effectively exploited by using extended reach drilling (ERD) technology. This paper focuses on the difficult technological problems encountered during exploiting the Liuhua 11-1 oil fi eld in the South China Sea, China. Emphasis is on investigating the key subjects including prediction and control of open hole limit extension in offshore ERD, prediction of casing wear and its prevention and torque reduction,φ244.5mm casing running with floating collars to control drag force, and steerable drilling modes. The basic concept of limit extension in ERD is presented and the prediction method for open hole limit extension is given in this paper. A set of advanced drilling mechanics and control technology has been established and its practical results are verifi ed by fi eld cases. 5Eutrophication and algal blooms in channel type reservoirs:A novel enclosure experiment by changing light intensity显示文摘To explore eutrophication and algal bloom mechanisms in channel type reservoirs,a novel enclosure experiment was conducted by changing light intensity (LI) in the Daning River of the Three Gorges Reservoir (TGR).Square enclosures (side 5.0 m) were covered on the surface with shading materials of different thickness,and with their bases open to the river.Changes and characteristics of the main eutrophication factors under the same water quality and hydrodynamic conditions but different LI were evaluated.All experimental water samples were neutral and alkalescent,with high nitrogen and phosphate concentrations,low potassium permanganate index,stable water quality,and different LI.At the same water depth,LI decreased with increasing shade material,while dissolved oxygen and water temperature were both stable.The growth peak of phytoplankton was with light of 345-4390 lux underwater or 558-7450 lux above the water surface,and water temperature of 25.6-26.5 C.Algae were observed in all water samples,accounting for 6 phylum and 57 species,with algal density changing frequently.The results showed that significantly strong or weak light was unfavorable for phytoplankton growth and the function together with suitable temperature and LI and ample sunshine encouraged algal blooms under the same water quality and hydrodynamic conditions.Correlation analysis indicated that algae reduced gradually lengthwise along water depth in the same enclosure while pH became high.The power exponent relationship between chlorophyll a (Chl-a) and LI was found by curve fitting,that is Chl-a=K(LI) n.Chengjin Cao Binghui Zheng Zhenlou Chen Minsheng Huang Jialei Zhang 2011Journal of Environmental Sciences2011,23,10:13
6A pre-generated matrix-based method for real-time robotic drilling chatter monitoring显示文摘Currently, due to the detrimental effects on surface finish and machining system, chatter has been one crucial factor restricting robotic drilling operations, which improve both quality and efficiency of aviation manufacturing. Based on the matrix notch filter and fast wavelet packet decomposition, this paper presents a novel pre-generated matrix-based real-time chatter monitoring method for robotic drilling. Taking vibration characteristics of robotic drilling into account, the matrix notch filter is designed to eliminate the interference of spindle-related components on the measured vibration signal. Then, the fast wavelet packet decomposition is presented to decompose the filtered signal into several equidistant frequency bands, and the energy of each sub-band is obtained. Finally, the energy entropy which characterizes inhomogeneity of energy distribution is utilized as the feature to recognize chatter on-line, and the effectiveness of the presented algorithm is validated by extensive experimental data. The results show that the proposed algorithm can effectively detect chatter before it is fully developed. Moreover, since both filtering and decomposition of signal are implemented by the pre-generated matrices, calculation for an energy entropy of vibration signal with 512 samples takes only about 0.690 ms. 7Port Integration in China: Temporal Pathways, Spatial Patterns and Dynamics显示文摘Over the past two decades, numerous ports located in China have participated in port integration strategies, thus influencing the entire port system. The current research is initiated in order to examine the nature of port integration in China, including associated temporal pathways, spatial patterns and dynamics. Results indicate that port integration in China has been characterized by a significant increase at the turn of the 21 st century, comprising thirteen distinguishable pathways typified by differing dynamics, particularly between the northern and southern ports. Pathways were found to include 44 seaports and river ports, chiefly concentrated in the Bohai Rim, Yangtze(Changjiang) River Delta, Beibu Gulf and the southeastern Fujian, thus representing significant spatial regions. Categorically larger seaports have become the primary beneficiaries of port integration. Integration cases were divided into four categories based upon quantified dynamic magnitude including the government-driven mode, market-driven mode, government/market-driven mode and strategic alliance, and into five further categories based upon spatial extent including port internal integration, jurisdictional port integration, port integration across neighbor region, regional port integration and hub-feeder port integration. 8Effects of traits,species identity and local environmental conditions on the assessment of interactions:insights from an alpine meadow community显示文摘Aims The prediction that facilitation is the dominant interaction in physically stressful conditions has been supported by many but not all field studies.In the present paper,we tested the effects of the identity of species,the local environmental conditions and the currencies of performance measurement on such variation.Methods Using contrasting two plots,six species,and up to five multiple traits,we comprehensively explored the effects of the above factors on the assessment of plant interactions in an alpine meadow of the QingHai Tibetan Plateau.Additionally,we attempted to figure out the possible mechanisms underlying the responses observed.The data were analysed by both standard ANOVAs and multivariate statistics.Important findings Our results demonstrated that the response to the removal of neighbours was both species and trait specific,and the effect of the ocal environmental conditions was dependent on the species involved.The contrast between plots had crucial influence on the net interactions of Kobresia macrantha,but little effect on Elymus nutans.Regarding the abiotic conditions,neighbours had significant impact on soil temperature,moist and solar radiation.The results contribute to advance our knowledge on the potential underlying factors influencing the assessment of facilitation.Chengjin Chu Youshi Wang Qi Li Luqiang Zhao Zhengwei Ren Sa Xiao Jianli Yuan Gang Wang 2009Journal of Plant Ecology2009,2,3:6

10Transportation Development Transition in China显示文摘Scientific development is an invaluable asset to a country.Policies and development modes should be carried out based on scientific findings not only in industry,but also in transportation infrastructure construction.Building an integrated transportation system,which is in line with the national requirements of China and supports sustainable socio-economic development,is a key strategic issue related to building a moderately prosperous society and achieving realistic goals of a medium-level developed country.Based on a systematic review of the advances in China's transportation infrastructure over the last 60 years,this paper explores the main drivers of transportation development,including national policy,transportation structure,investment efficiency,and technological innovation.Analysis shows that China's comprehensive transportation infrastructure construction since 1949 can be divided into five stages initiated by these drivers,which correspond to four transition modes:policy transition,structural transition,efficiency transition,and technology transition.The transition path of China's transportation development shows that the dominant factors have changed,and the interval for each transition has shortened.With the implementation of the '12th Five-Year Plan',China's transportation infrastructure construction is showing some new characteristics and facing a new development transition.Finally,this paper analyzes the trends in transportation development in China and concludes that technological innovation will be the main driving force to increase the transportation supply and service area in the future.JIN Fengjun DING Jinxue WANG Jiao'e LIU Dong WANG Chengjin 2012Chinese Geographical Science2012,22,3:4
11Positive interactions can produce species-rich communities and increase species turnover through time显示文摘Aims The process of facilitation,where a species increases the survival,growth,and fitness of another species,is becoming increasingly recognized as a critical factor in shaping the structure of plant communities.This process is particularly important in stressful environments.Yet few studies have attempted to incorporate positive interactions into community ecological theories such as the neutral theory of biodiversity.Here,we use an equalizing trade-off model as a foundation to study the potential impact of facilitation on species richness and community temporal turnover.Methods Based on a spatially explicit birth–death trade-off model,we assume that the occurrence of facilitation is dependent on the presence of interspecific neighbours.We further propose that the realized birth rate for a given individual subject to facilitation is proportional to the number of interspecific neighbours within its neighbourhood.Thus,in our model,the individuals of rare species will benefit more from the existence of heterospecific individuals than common species.Important Findings As the facilitative coefficient increased,the species richness for simulated communities at the dynamically stochastic equilibrium was also increasing.Simulations also demonstrated that facilitation could increase the replacement of species through time:communities with facilitation become more dissimilar(i.e.have smaller Bray–Curtis similarity values)than communities without or with a lower degree of facilitation after the same time interval.Facilitation from interspecific neighbours on rare species increased their population sizes and consequently made them less prone to extinction,thus enhancing species richness.Meanwhile,in a saturated community,with the increase of species richness,mean population size of entire communities decreased,making species more prone to extinction on average,and thus increased the community temporal turnover.Our results suggest that future experimental work on the effect of facilitation on community-level properties should focus not just on species richness but also on other descriptors of community dynamics such as the temporal species turnover.Youshi Wang M.D.Farnon Ellwood Fernando TMaestre Zhiyong Yang Gang Wang Chengjin Chu 2012Journal of Plant Ecology2012,5,4:3

13Adaptive link layer security architecture for telecommand communications in space networks显示文摘Impressive advances in space technology are enabling complex missions, with potentially significant and long term impacts on human life and activities. In the vision of future space exploration, communication links among planets, satellites,spacecrafts and crewed vehicles will be designed according to a new paradigm, known as the disruption tolerant networking. In this scenario, space channel peculiarities impose a massive reengineering of many of the protocols usually adopted in terrestrial networks; among them, security solutions are to be deeply reviewed, and tailored to the specific space requirements. Security is to be provided not only to the payload data exchanged on the network, but also to the telecommands sent to a spacecraft,along possibly differentiated paths. Starting from the secure space telecommand design developed by the Consultative Committee for Space Data Systems as a response to agency-based requirements, an adaptive link layer security architecture is proposed to address some of the challenges for future space networks. Based on the analysis of the communication environment and the error diffusion properties of the authentication algorithms, a suitable mechanism is proposed to classify frame retransmission requests on the basis of the originating event(error or security attack) and reduce the impact of security operations. An adaptive algorithm to optimize the space control protocol, based on estimates of the time varying space channel, is also presented. 14Timely renal replacement therapy linked to better outcome in patients with sepsis-associated acute kidney injury显示文摘Background:Recent studies suggest that acute kidney injury(AKI)can be treated with renal replacement therapy(RRT).However,its benefits to patients with sepsis-associated AKI(SA-AKI),which is linked to high mortality and morbidity rates,remain under debate.The aim of this study was to compare the outcomes of different RRT strategies for patients with SA-AKI.Methods:This retrospective study evaluated patients who were admitted to the hospital with sepsis and devel-oped SA-AKI during hospitalization from 1st January 2014 to 31st January 2019.Mortality,renal recovery,and systemic organ function at 90 days following admission were compared between the RRT group(RG)and non-RRT group(NRG),as well as the early-RRT group(EG)and delayed-RRT group(DG).The groups were defined according to the time from admission to RRT initiation(criterion 1,EG1 and DG1)and Kidney Disease Improving Global Outcomes(KDIGO)classification(criterion 2,EG2 and DG2).Categorical and continuous variables were compared using the chi-squared test or Fisher’s exact test and Student’s t-test or Wilcoxon test.Kaplan-Meier curves were constructed to determine the unadjusted survival rates for the different subgroups.Results:A total of 116 patients were included in this study;of those,38 received RRT and 46 expired within 90 days.Among different strategies of RRT,there were no significant differences found in 90-day mortality(RG vs.NRG:��2=0.610,P=0.435;EG1 vs.DG1:��2=0.835,P=0.360;EG2 vs.DG2:��2=0.022,P=0.899)and renal recovery.However,the values of change in sequential organ failure assessment(ΔSOFA)max-min of patients in the EG and RG were significantly higher than those recorded in the NRG(ΔSOFA RG=7.0,ΔSOFA NRG=3.60,ΔSOFA EG1=9.00,ΔSOFA EG2=6.30;P<0.050).Also,the 90-day renal recovery in the EG was better than that noted in the DG with criterion 1(87.5%vs.38.5%,respectively,��2=10.425,P=0.032),suggesting that RRT(especially timely RRT)may be beneficial to the restoration of systemic organ function in patients with SA-AKI.Conclusion:RRT did not reduce the 90-day mortality among patients with SA-AKI.However,timely RRT may benefit the restoration of systemic organ function,thereby improving the quality of life of patients.Yiwen Fan Liang Chen Shaowei Jiang Yingying Huang Yuxin Leng Chengjin Gao 2022Journal of Intensive Medicine2022,2,3:2

16Multi-class 12-lead ECG automatic diagnosis based on a novel subdomain adaptive deep network显示文摘Arrhythmia is a common type of cardiovascular disease,which has become the leading cause of global deaths.Recently,the automatic 12-lead ECG diagnosis system based on numerous labelled data has attracted increasing attention.However,labelling 12-lead ECG recordings is a complex and time-consuming task for clinicians.And then,the existence of data distribution differences limits the direct cross domain use of the trained model.Enlighted by subdomain adaptation methods,this paper designs a novel subdomain adaptative deep network(SADN)for excavating diagnosis knowledge from source domain datasets.Firstly,the convolutional layer,residual blocks and SE-Residual blocks are utilized for extracting meaningful deep features automatically.Additionally,the feature classifier uses these deep features for obtaining the final diagnosis predictions.Further,designing a novel loss function with local maximum mean discrepancy is utilized for restricting data distribution discrepancy from different datasets.Finally,the Clinical Outcomes in Digital ECG and 1st China Physiological Signal Challenge datasets are utilized for evaluating the superiority of SADN,which presents that SADN enhances algorithm performance on the unlabelled target domain dataset.Further,compared with the existing methods,the proposed network structure acquires better performance with a F1-macro of 89.43%and a F1-macro1 of 87.09%.Besides,among the 4 kinds of ECG abnormalities,the diagnostic effect of the SADN is better than that of cardiology residents.Thus,SADN has promising potential as an auxiliary diagnostic tool for the clinical environment.JIN YanRui LI ZhiYuan LIU YunQing LIU JinLei QIN Chengjin ZHAO LiQun LIU ChengLiang 2022Science China(Technological Sciences)2022,65,11:2

18Beyond direct neighbourhood effects:higher-order interactions improve modelling and predicting tree survival and growth显示文摘It is known that biotic interactions are the key to species coexistence and maintenance of species diversity.Traditional studies focus overwhelmingly on pairwise interactions between organisms,ignoring complex higher-order interactions(HOIs).In this study,we present a novel method of calculating individual-level HOIs for trees,and use this method to test the importance of size-and distance-dependent individual-level HOIs to tree performance in a 25-ha temperate forest dynamic plot.We found that full HOI-inclusive models improved our ability to model and predict the survival and growth of trees,providing empirical evidence that HOIs strongly influence tree performance in this temperate forest.Specifically,assessed HOIs mitigate the competitive direct effects of neighbours on survival and growth of focal trees.Our study lays a foundation for future investigations of the prevalence and relative importance of HOIs in global forests and their impact on species diversity.Yuanzhi Li Margaret M.Mayfield Bin Wang Junli Xiao Kamil Krai David Janik Jan Holik Chengjin Chu 2021National Science Review2021,8,5:2
19A novel LSTM-autoencoder and enhanced transformer-based detection method for shield machine cutterhead clogging显示文摘Shield tunneling machines are paramount underground engineering equipment and play a key role in tunnel construction.During the shield construction process,the“mud cake”formed by the difficult-to-remove clay attached to the cutterhead severely affects the shield construction efficiency and is harmful to the healthy operation of a shield tunneling machine.In this study,we propose an enhanced transformer-based detection model for detecting the cutterhead clogging status of shield tunneling machines.First,the working state data of shield machines are selected from historical excavation data,and a long short-term memory-autoencoder neural network module is constructed to remove outliers.Next,variational mode decomposition and wavelet transform are employed to denoise the data.After the preprocessing,nonoverlapping rectangular windows are used to intercept the working state data to obtain the time slices used for analysis,and several time-domain features of these periods are extracted.Owing to the data imbalance in the original dataset,the k-means-synthetic minority oversampling technique algorithm is adopted to oversample the extracted time-domain features of the clogging data in the training set to balance the dataset and improve the model performance.Finally,an enhanced transformer-based neural network is constructed to extract essential implicit features and detect cutterhead clogging status.Data collected from actual tunnel construction projects are used to verify the proposed model.The results show that the proposed model achieves accurate detection of shield machine cutterhead clogging status,with 98.85%accuracy and a 0.9786 F1 score.Moreover,the proposed model significantly outperforms the comparison models.QIN ChengJin WU RuiHong HUANG GuoQiang TAO JianFeng LIU ChengLiang 2023Science China(Technological Sciences)2023,66,2:2
