Using irrigation intervals to optimize water-use efficiency and maize yield in Xinjiang, northwest China显示文摘Worldwide, scarce water resources and substantial food demands require efficient water use and high yield. This study investigated whether irrigation frequency can be used to adjust soil moisture to increase grain yield and water use efficiency(WUE) of high-yield maize under conditions of mulching and drip irrigation.A field experiment was conducted using three irrigation intervals in 2016: 6, 9, and 12 days(labeled D6, D9, and D12) and five irrigation intervals in 2017: 3, 6, 9, 12, and 15 days(D3, D6, D9, D12, and D15).In Xinjiang, an optimal irrigation quota is 540 mm for high-yield maize. The D3, D6, D9, D12, and D15 irrigation intervals gave grain yields of 19.7, 19.1–21.0, 18.8–20.0, 18.2–19.2, and 17.2 Mg ha^-1 and a WUE of 2.48, 2.53–2.80, 2.47–2.63, 2.34–2.45, and 2.08 kg m-3, respectively.Treatment D6 led to the highest soil water storage, but evapotranspiration and soil-water evaporation were lower than other treatments. These results show that irrigation interval D6 can help maintain a favorable soil-moisture environment in the upper-60-cm soil layer, reduce soilwater evaporation and evapotranspiration, and produce the highest yield and WUE.In this arid region and in other regions with similar soil and climate conditions, a similar irrigation interval would thus be beneficial for adjusting soil moisture to increase maize yield and WUE under conditions of mulching and drip irrigation.Guoqiang Zhang Dongping Shen Bo Ming Ruizhi Xie Xiuliang Jin Chaowei Liu Peng Hou Jun Xue Jianglu Chen Wanxu Zhang Wanmao Liu Keru Wang Shaokun Li 2019The Crop Journal2019,7,3:4
Crystalline behaviors and phase transition during the manufacture of fine denier PA6 fibers显示文摘Recently we have successfully produced fine denier PA6 fibers by using additives containing lanthanide compounds.Meanwhile, crystallization and phase transition of PA6 fibers during spinning and drawing processes were investigated.During the spinning process,β phase crystal could be obtained in as-spun PA6 fibers which were produced with relatively high melt draw ratio, while γ phase crystal predominated when the melt draw ratio was relatively low.β phase crystal, whose behaviors are similar with those of γ phase by FT-IR and XRD characterization, could be transformed to α form easily when PA6 fibers are immersed in boiling water. However,γ phase crystal of PA6 remains unchanged in boiling water. Thus,β and γ phase crystals of PA6 can be differentiated by the crystalline behaviors of PA6 fibers after treatment in boiling water.Further experiments demonstrate that the β phase can also be produced during a drawing process where a phase transformation from γ to α occurs. In other words,β phase may act as an intermediate state during the phase transformation.ZHANG ChengFeng LIU YuHai LIU ShaoXuan LI HuiZhen HUANG Kun PAN QingHua HUA XiaoHui HAO ChaoWei MA QingFang LV ChangYou LI WeiHong YANG ZhanLan ZHAO Ying WANG DuJin LAI GuoQiao JIANG JianXiong XU YiZhuang WU JinGuang 2009Science China Chemistry2009,52,11:4
Fabrication and characterization of novel meso-porous carbon/n-octadecane as form-stable phase change materials for enhancement of phase-change behavior显示文摘In this study, series of novel composite phase change materials(PCMs) were prepared through vacuum impregnation by using meso-porous carbon as a supporting matrix and n-octadcane as PCMs.The meso-porous carbon material was prepared through one-pot co-assembly method, using resorcinol and formaldehyde as carbon precursor, tetraethoxysilane as silica sources and triblock copolymer F127 as a template. And the phase behaviors of n-octadcane confined in the nano-porous structure of the meso-porous carbon were further investigated. Fourier transform-infrared spectroscopy spectra show that n-octadecane was effectively encapsulated in the porous structure of mesoporous carbon and the composite PCMs were successfully prepared. Differential scanning calorimetry results confirm that the composite PCMs possess a good phase change behavior, fast thermal-response rate and excellent thermal cycling stability. In addition, the composite PCMs possess expected heat storage and heat release properties. All these results demonstrate that the composite PCMs possess good comprehensive property so that they can be used widely in energy storage systems.Yurong Liu Yongpeng Xia Kang An Chaowei Huang Weiwei Cui Sheng Wei Rong Ji Fen Xu Huanzhi Zhang Lixian Sun 2019Journal of Materials Science & Technology2019,35,5:4
Alterations in cecal microbiota of Jinhua piglets fostered by a Yorkshire sow显示文摘Gut microbiota play important roles in host health and diseases.Several factors,in particular antibiotics, affect the gut microbiota of pigs.Cross-fostering has been applied as a regular practice to equalize litter size, reduce pre-weaning mortality and increase body weight. However, the effect of cross-fostering on cecal microbiota is unclear. In this study,we fostered three Jinhua pigs to a Yorkshire sow.The fostered Jinhua piglets grew significantly faster than their biological siblings. To explore whether the cecal microbiota of piglets will alter during fostering,we characterized the cecal microbiota of allpiglets by examining the V3 hypervariable region of 16S rDNA.We observed altered cecal microbiota in these piglets using the Illumina HiSeq 2000 platform, and this was accompanied with an increase in growth rate after fostering. The relative abundance of Bacteroidetes in the fostered Jinhua piglets was decreased compared with their biological siblings, although still higher in comparison with their new littermates.Beta-diversity analysis also showed that the cecal microbiota of the adopted Jinhua piglets differed from their biological siblings with a shift toward their step-siblings.Our data show that cecal microbiota of piglets were altered after cross-fostering while the growth rate increased.Lingjin Xian Ying Li Zhi Jiang Jideng Ma Long Jin Lei Chen Chaowei Zhou Jie Zhang Yingkai Liu Li Zhu An-an Jiang Guoqing Tang Jian Xiao Jinyong Wang Bo Zeng Mingzhou Li Xuewei Li 2014Chinese Science Bulletin2014,59,32:4

Structural mechanism of cooperative activation of the human calcium-sensing receptor by Ca^(2+) ions and L-tryptophan显示文摘The human calcium-sensing receptor(CaSR)is a class C G protein-coupled receptor(GPCR)responsible for maintaining Ca^(2+)homeostasis in the blood. The general consensus is that extracellular Ca^(2+)is the principal agonist of CaSR.Aliphatic and aromatic L-amino acids, such as L-Phe and L-Trp,increase the sensitivity of CaSR towards Ca^(2+)and are considered allosteric activators.Crystal structures of the extracellular domain(ECD)of CaSR dimer have demonstrated Ca^(2+)and L-Trp binding sites and conformational changes of the ECD upon Ca^(2+)/L-Trp binding. However,it remains to be understood at the structural level how Ca^(2+)/L-Trp binding to the ECD leads to conformational changes in transmembrane domains(TMDs)and consequent CaSR activation. Here,we determined the structures of full-length human CaSR in the inactive state,Ca^(2+)-or L-Trp-bound states, and Ca^(2+)/L-Trp-bound active state using single-particle cryo-electron microscopy.Structural studies demonstrate that L-Trp binding induces the closure of the Venus flytrap(VFT)domain of CaSR,bringing the receptor into an intermediate active state.Ca^(2+)binding relays the conformational changes from the VFT domains to the TMDs,consequently inducing close contact between the two TMDs of dimeric CaSR,activating the receptor.Importantly, our structural and functional studies reveal that Ca^(2+)ions and L-Trp activate CaSR cooperatively.Amino acids are not able to activate CaSR alone, but can promote the receptor activation in the presence of Ca^(2+).Our data provide complementary insights into the activation of class C GPCRs and may aid in the development of novel drugs targeting CaSR.Shenglong Ling Pan Shi Sanling Liu Xianyu Meng Yingxin Zhou Wenjing Sun Shenghai Chang Xing Zhang Longhua Zhang Chaowei Shi Demeng Sun Lei Liu Changlin Tian 2021Cell Research2021,31,4:3
Surfactant-Encapsulated Polyoxometalate Complex as a Cathode Interlayer for Nonfullerene Polymer Solar Cells显示文摘An alcohol-soluble,environmentally friendly, and low-cost surfactant-encapsulated polyoxometalate complex[(C8H17)4N]4[SiW_(12)O40](TOASiW_(12))as a cathode interlayer(CIL)has exhibited excellent universality for various active layers and cathodes in nonfullerene polymer solar cells(NF-PSCs).In particular, incorporating TOASiW_(12) as the CIL enhanced power conversion efficiencies(PCEs)of the PM6:Y6-based NF-PSCs with Al or Ag cathode to 16.14%and 15.89%,respectively,and the PCEs of PM6:BTP-BO4Cl-based NF-PSCs with Al or Ag cathode to 17.04%and 17.00%,respectively.More importantly, the performances of the devices with TOASiW_(12) were insensitive to the TOASiW_(12) thickness from 3 to 33 nm.Furthermore, the NF-PSCs with TOASiW_(12) exhibited better device stability.Combined characterization of the photocurrent density versus effective voltage, capacitance versus voltage and electron mobility demonstrated that TOASiW_(12) as the CIL effectively promoted exciton dissociation,charge-carrier extraction,built-in potential,charge-carrier density, and electron mobility in the NF-PSCs.These findings suggest that TOASiW_(12) is a promising, competitive CIL for NF-PSCs fabricated by roll-to-roll processing.Jing Qiu Yue Zhang Yan Liu Huiru Liu Dongdong Xia Fan Yang Chaowei Zhao Weiwei Li Lixin Wu Fenghong Li 2022CCS Chemistry2022,4,3:3

Boosting electrocatalytic activity for CO_(2) reduction on nitrogen-doped carbon catalysts by co-doping with phosphorus显示文摘Electrochemical reduction of CO_(2)(CERR)to value-added chemicals is an attractive strategy for greenhouse gas mitigation, and carbon recycles utilization.Conventional metal catalysts suffered from low durability and sluggish kinetics impede the practical application. On the other hand, doped carbon materials recently demonstrate superior catalytic performance in CERR,which shows the potential to diminish the problems of metal catalysts to some extent.Herein,we present the design and fabrication of nitrogen(N),phosphorus(P)co-doped metal-free carbon materials as an efficient and stable electrocatalyst for reduction of CO_(2) to CO,which exhibits an excellent performance with a high faradaic efficiency of 92%(-0.55 V vs.RHE)and up to 24 h stability.A series of characterizations including TEM and XPS verified that nitrogen and phosphorous are successfully incorporated into the carbon matrix. Moreover, the comparisons between co-doping and single doping catalysts reveal that co-doping can significantly increase CERR performance. The improved catalytic activity is attributed to the synergetic effects between nitrogen and phosphorous dopants, which effectively modulate properties of the active site. The density functional theory(DFT)calculations were also performed to understand the synergy effects of dopants. It is revealed that the phosphorous doping can significantly lower the Gibbs free energy of COOH^(*)formation. Moreover, the introduction of the second dopants phosphorous can reduce the reaction barrier along the reaction path and cause polarization of density of states at the Fermi level. These changes can greatly enhance the activity of the catalysts. From a combined experimental and computational exploration, current work provides valuable insights into the reaction mechanism of CERR on N,P co-doped carbon catalysts, and the influence from synergy effects between dopants, which paves the way for the rational design of novel metal-free catalysts for CO2 electro-reduction.Shuo Chen Tianfu Liu Samson O.Olanrele Zan Lian Chaowei Si Zhimin Chen Bo Li 2021Journal of Energy Chemistry2021,30,3:2

A spatiotemporal data collection of viral cases for COVID-19 rapid response显示文摘Under the global health crisis of COVID-19,timely,and accurate epi-demic data are important for observation, monitoring, analyzing, modeling, predicting, and mitigating impacts.Viral case data can be jointly analyzed with relevant factors for various applications in the context of the pandemic.Current COVID-19 case data are scattered across a variety of data sources which may consist of low data quality accompanied by inconsistent data structures. To address this short-coming,a multi-scale spatiotemporal data product is proposed as a public repository platform, based on a spatiotemporal cube, and allows the integration of different data sources by adopting various data standards.Within the spatiotemporal cube,a comprehensive data processing workflow gathers disparate COVID-19 epidemic data-sets at the global,national,provincial/state,county,and city levels. This proposed framework is supported by an automatic update with a 2-h frequency and the crowdsourcing validation team to produce and update data on a daily time step. This rapid-response dataset allows the integration of other relevant socio-economic and environ-mental factors for spatiotemporal analysis. The data is available in Harvard Dataverse platform(http://gffzz9c54d31c51204187spovw56qbnofx6pvw.ffgz.tsg.suse.edu.cn/dataset.xhtml?persistentId=doi:10.7910/DVN/8HGECN)and GitHub open source repository(http://gffzz188fe103f8f1460aspovw56qbnofx6pvw.ffgz.tsg.suse.edu.cn/stccenter/COVID-19-Data).Dexuan Sha Yi Liu Qian Liu Yun Li Yifei Tian Fayez Beaini Cheng Zhong Tao Hu Zifu Wang Hai Lan You Zhou Zhiran Zhang Chaowei Yang 2021Big Earth Data2021,5,1:2

Micro/nano-mechanical behaviors of individual FCC,BCC and FCC/BCC interphase in a high-entropy alloy显示文摘Here,a systematic investigation was made on the interphase strengthening effects induced superior me-chanical performances of multiphase high-entropy alloys(HEAs)at micro/nano-scale,compared with sin-gle phase HEAs.A pillar compression test under a scanning electron microscope(SEM)was performed on the individual face centered cubic(FCC),body centered cubic(BCC),and mixed-phases with different di-ameters in a Fe_(24)Co_(25)Ni_(24)Cr_(23)Al_(4)HEA using focused ion beam(FIB)milling and a nanoindenter equipped with a flat punch. The stress-strain response of pillar underneath the indenter was selected to explore the diameter/phase-dependent size effect, the periodically fluctuation of local stress, and strain hardening. It was revealed that the pillars at the interphase exhibited significantly higher strength, compared with the FCC and BCC pillars. An experiment also verified the coincident mechanical size effects independent with the type of phases. The stress responses in the mixed-phase pillars manifested as a distinct transition from the dramatic drop to the minor fluctuation during the post-yield stages with the increasing strain, indicating the propagation of Al-Ni enriched solid solution phase(BCC1)under compression.Except the BCC1 phase, numerous dislocations were observed in the post-deformed pillars, particularly serving as the major source to enhance the strain hardening of BCC pillars.Wei Zhang Zhichao Ma Chaofan Li Chaowei Guo Dongni Liu Hongwei Zhao Luquan Ren 2022Journal of Materials Science & Technology2022,,19:1

Mobile-agent-based energy-efficient scheduling with dynamic channel acquisition in mobile cloud computing显示文摘Mobile cloud computing(MCC) combines mobile Internet and cloud computing to improve the performance of mobile applications. However, MCC faces the problem of energy efficiency because of randomly varying channels. A scheduling algorithm is proposed by introducing the Lyapunov optimization, which can dynamically choose users to transmit data based on queue backlog and channel statistics. The Lyapunov analysis shows that the proposed scheduling algorithm can make a tradeoff between queue backlog and energy consumption in the channel-aware mobile cloud computing system. The simulation results verify the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.Xing Liu Chaowei Yuan Zhen Yang Zengping Zhang 2016Journal of Systems Engineering and Electronics2016,27,3:0
Artemisia argyi extract subfraction exerts an antifungal effect against dermatophytes by disrupting mitochondrial morphology and function显示文摘Artemisia argyi(A.argyi),a plant with a longstanding history as a raw material for traditional medicine and functional diets in Asia, has been used traditionally to bathe and soak feet for its disinfectant and itch-relieving properties.Despite its widespread use, scientific evidence validating the antifungal efficacy of A.argyi water extract(AAWE)against dermatophytes, particularly Trichophyton rubrum,Trichophyton mentagrophytes, and Microsporum gypseum, remains limited. This study aimed to substantiate the scientific basis of the folkloric use of A.argyi by evaluating the antifungal effects and the underlying molecular mechanisms of its active subfraction against dermatophytes. The results indicated that AAWE exhibited excellent antifungal effects against the three aforementioned dermatophyte species. The subfraction AAWE6,isolated using D101 macroporous resin, emerged as the most potent subfraction. The minimum inhibitory concentrations(MICs)of AAWE6 against T.rubrum,M.gypseum,and T.mentagrophytes were 312.5,312.5,and 625μg·mL−1,respectively.Transmission electron microscopy(TEM)results and assays of enzymes linked to cell wall integrity and cell membrane function indicated that AAWE6 could penetrate the external protective barrier of T.rubrum, creating breaches(“small holes”),and disrupt the internal mitochondrial structure(“granary”).Furthermore, transcriptome data, quantitative real-time PCR(RT-qPCR),and biochemical assays corroborated the severe disruption of mitochondrial function, evidenced by inhibited tricarboxylic acid(TCA)cycle and energy metabolism.Additionally, chemical characterization and molecular docking analyses identified flavonoids, primarily eupatilin(131.16±4.52 mg·g^(−1))and jaceosidin(4.17±0.18 mg·g^(−1)),as the active components of AAWE6.In conclusion, the subfraction AAWE6 from A.argyi exerts antifungal effects against dermatophytes by disrupting mitochondrial morphology and function. This research validates the traditional use of A.argyi and provides scientific support for its antidermatophytic applications,as recognized in the Chinese patent(No.ZL202111161301.9).CHEN Le ZHU Yunyun GUO Chaowei GUO Yujie ZHAO Lu MIAO Yuhuan DU Hongzhi LIU Dahui 2024Chinese Journal of Natural Medicines2024,22,1:0
The effect of parasitic charge on the output stability of MEMS gyroscopes显示文摘Output voltage drifting was observed in MEMS gyroscopes. Other than the quadrature error, frequency mismatch and quality factor, the dielectric parasitic charge was thought to be a major determinant. We studied the mechanism and variation of the parasitic charge in the MEMS gyroscopes, and analyzed the effect of the parasitic charge on the output stability. This phenomenon was extremely obvious in the Pyrex encapsulated MEMS gyroscopes. Due to the DC voltage required for the electrostatic actuation, the parasitic charge in the dielectric layer would accumulate and induce a residual voltage. This voltage had an impact on the resonant frequency of the gyroscopes, so as to affect the output stability. The theoretical studies were also confirmed by our experimental results. It was shown that the parasitic charge was harmful to the output stability of MEMS gyroscopes.Nan Liu Yan Su Xin Tong Guowei Han Chaowei Si Zhaofeng Li Jin Ning 2018Journal of Semiconductors2018,39,8:0
