| 3 | The single nucleotide polymorphisms of the chicken myostatin gene are associated with skeletal muscle and adipose growth显示文摘Myostatin, a new member of the TGF-β superfamily, is predominantly expressed in skeletal muscle cells and functions as a negative regulator of skeletal muscle growth in animals. Recently, we have reported three single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in the chicken myostatin gene. Herein, we investigate the association of those SNPs with the production traits in a F2 chicken line derived from Broilers crossing to Silky with the least square analysis. The results show that the BB and AA genotypes are strongly associated with abdominal fat weight (AFW), abdominal fat percentage (AFP), and birth weight (BW) (P < 0.05). Breast muscle percentage (BMP) of the AA type is higher than that of the AB type. The breast muscle weight and breast muscle percentages of F2 individuals have significant difference between CC and DD genotypes (P < 0.05). Breast muscle weight (BMW) of EF birds is higher than that of EE birds (P < 0.05). | 5 | Effects of ultrasonic assisted friction stir welding on flow behavior,microstructure and mechanical properties of 7N01-T4 aluminum alloy joints显示文摘Conventional friction stir welding(FSW)and ultrasonic assisted friction stir welding(UAFSW)were employed to weld 6-mm thick 7 N01-T4 aluminum alloy plates.Weld forming characteristics and material flow behavior in these two different welding processes were studied and compared.Ultrasonic vibration was applied directly on the weld in axial direction through the welding tool.Metal flow behavior,microstructure characteristics in the nugget zone(NZ)and evolution of the mechanical properties of naturally aged joints were studied.Results show that the ultrasonic vibration can significantly increase the welding speed of defect-free welded joint.At the rotation speed of 1200 rpm,the UAFSW can produce defect-free welded joints at a welding speed that is 50%higher than that of the conventional FSW.Ultrasonic vibrations can also improve surface quality of the joints and reduce axial force by 9%.Moreover,ultrasonic vibrations significantly increase the volume of the pin-driven zone(PDZ)and decrease the thickness of the transition zone(TZ).The number of subgrains and deformed grains resulting from the UAFSW is higher than that from the FSW.By increase the strain level and strain gradient in the NZ,the ultrasonic vibrations can refine the grains.Ultrasonic energy is the most at the top of the NZ,and gradually reduces along the thickness of the plate.The difference in strengths between the FSW and the UAFSW joints after post-weld natural aging(PWNA)is small.However,the elongation of the UAFSW is8.8%higher than that of the FSW(PWNA for 4320 h).Fracture surface observation demonstrates that all the specimens fail by ductile fracture,and the fracture position of the UAFSW joint changes from HAZ(PWNA for 120 h)to NZ(PWNA for 720 and 4320 h). | Zhiqiang Zhang Changshu He Ying Li Lei Yu Su Zhaoc Xiang Zhao | 2020 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology2020,36,8: | 4 |
| 6 | Differential gene expression during capillary morphogenesis in a microcarrier-based three-dimensional in vitro model of angiogenesis with focus on chemokines and chemokine receptors显示文摘AIM: To globally compare the gene expression profiles during the capillary morphogenesis of human microvascular endothelial cells (HMVECs) in an in vitro angiogenesis system with affymetrix oligonucleotide array.METHODS: A microcarrier-based in vitro angiogenesis system was developed, in which ECs migrated into the matrix,proliferated, and formed capillary sprouts. The sprouts elongated, branched and formed networks. The total RNA samples from the HMVECs at the selected time points (0.5,24, and 72 h) during the capillary morphogenesis were used for microarray analyses, and the data were processed with the softwares provided by the manufacturers. The expression patterns of some genes were validated and confirmed by semi-quantitative RT-PCR. The regulated genes were grouped based on their molecular functions and expression patterns, and among them the expression of chemokines and chemokine receptors was specially examined and their functional implications were analyzed.RESULTS: A total of 1 961 genes were up- or downregulated two-folds or above, and among them, 468 genes were up- or down-regulated three-folds or above. The regulated genes could be grouped into categories based on their molecular functions, and were also clustered into six groups based on their patterns of expression. As for chemokines and chemokine receptors, CXCL1/GRO-α,CXCL2/GRO-β, CXCLS/ENA-78, CXCL6/GCP2, IL-8/CXCL8,CXCL12/SDF-1, CXCL9/Mig, CXC11/ITAC, CX3CL1/fractalkine,CCL2/MCP-1, CCL3, CCLS/RANTES, CCL7, CCL15, CCL21,CCL23, CCL28, and CCR1, CCR9, CXCR4 were identified.Moreover, these genes demonstrated different changing patterns during the capillary morphogenesis, which implied that they might have different roles in the sequential process. Among the chemokines identified, CCL2/MCP-1,CCL5/RANTES and CX3CL1 were specially up-regulated at the 24-h time point when the sprouting characterized the morphological change. | 7 | Improvement of microstructure and fatigue performance of wire-arc additive manufacture d 4043 aluminum alloy assiste d by interlayer friction stir processing显示文摘To expand the application of wire-arc additive manufacturing(WAAM)in aluminum alloy forming com-ponents,it is vitally important to reduce the porosity,refine microstructure,and thereby improve the mechanical properties of the components.In this study,the interlayer friction stir processing(FSP)tech-nique was employed to assist the WAAM of 4043 Al-Si alloy,and the related effects on the microstruc-ture evolutions and mechanical properties of the fabricated builds were systematacially investigated.As compared to the conventional WAAM processing of Al-Si alloy,it was found that the introduction of in-terlayer FSP can effectively eliminate the pores,and both theα-Al dendrites and Si-rich eutectic network were severely broken up,leading to a remarkable enhancement in ductility and fatigue performance.The average yield strength(YS)and ultimate tensile strength(UTS)of the Al-based components produced by the combination of WAAM and interlayer FSP methods were 88 and 148 MPa,respectively.Meanwhile,the elongation(EL)of 37.5%and 28.8%can be achieved in the horizontal and vertical directions,respec-tively.Such anisotropy of EL was attributed to the inhomogeneous microstructure in the stir zone(SZ).Notably,the stress concentration can be effectively reduced by the elimination of porosity and Si-rich eu-tectic network fragmentation by the interlayer FSP,and thus the fatigue behavior was improved with the fatigue strength and elongation increased by∼28%and∼108.7%,respectively.It is anticipated that this study will provide a powerful strategy and theoretical guidance for the WAAM fabrication of Al-based alloy components with high ductility and fatigue performance. | Changshu He Jingxun Wei Ying Li Zhiqiang Zhang Ni Tian Gaowu Qin Liang Zuo | 2023 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology2023,,2: | 2 |

The special superficial arrangement of spermatangium for this species was clearly observed, and the ultrastructure of spermatangial devel-opment revealed the similar cytodynamic pattern followed by all the Gracilariaceae members devel-oped from spermatangial mother cells to spermatangium. The female reproductive apparatus before fertilization was also observed and trichogyne was found protruding above the cortex, contrary to the earlier reports. | 16 | Enhancing the mechanical performance of Al-Zn-Mg alloy builds fabricated via underwater friction stir additive manufacturing and post-processing aging显示文摘Our previous studies have demonstrated that underwater friction stir additive manufacturing(FSAM)could effectively suppress the macroscale softening of the fabricated Al-Zn-Mg-Cu alloy build from top to bottom.However,the accompanying local softening problem,i.e.,a low-hardness region at the bottom of each stir zone,becomes prominent.In this study,an Al-Zn-Mg alloy with low quench sensitivity was used to fabricate a multilayered build via underwater FSAM.In-process water cooling could effectively solve the macroscale and local softening problems in the FSAM of the Al-Zn-Mg alloy and improve the mechanical performance of the build.The microhardness and ultimate tensile strength(UTS)of the water-cooled build in as-fabricated and aged states were more uniform along the building direction and higher than those of their counterparts.After 90 days of natural aging,the UTS of the water-cooled build in building and traveling directions reached 398 and 400 MPa,respectively,slightly higher than that of the base metal(392 MPa).The enhancement in the mechanical performance of the water-cooled build was attributed to a high degree of supersaturation and age-strengthening ability because of a high cooling rate of the underwater FSAM process and low quench sensitivity of the base metal. | Changshu He Ying Li Jingxun Wei Zhiqiang Zhang Ni Tian Gaowu Qin Xiang Zhao | 2022 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology2022,,13: | 1 |
