1Analysis of the Results of Two Nationwide Surveys on Clonorchis sinensis Infection in China显示文摘Objective To examine Clonorchis sinensis infection in China and evaluate the effectiveness of efforts to prevent and control it,two nationwide surveys were undertaken in 31 provinces,autonomous regions,and municipalities(PAMs) during 1988-92(the 1990 survey) and during 2001-04(the 2003 survey).Methods During the period 2001-04,two sampling methods were applied.The first method repeated the stratified cluster random sampling used in the 1990 survey;the second method applied two-characteristic stratified cluster random sampling in 27 PAMs-the 2003 endemic area(EA) survey.The Kato-Katz thick smear method was used for the nationwide survey.Results The infection rates of Clonorchis sinensis in the 1990 and 2003 surveys were 0.311% and 0.579%,respectively.The infection rate was 2.40% in the 2003 EA survey,and it was estimated that 12.49 million people in China were infected with Clonorchis sinensis.Conclusion The 2003 survey showed that the standardized infection rate of Clonorchis sinensis increased by 74.85% compared with the 1990 survey.The infection rate in males was higher than in females;the infection rate among people eating raw fish or eating out frequently was higher than among those who did not.CHEN Ying Dan ZHOU Chang Hai XU Long Qi 2012Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2012,25,2:22

3GPER agonist G1 suppresses neuronal apoptosis mediated by endoplasmic reticulum stress after cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury显示文摘Studies have confirmed a strong association between activation of the endoplasmic reticulum stress pathway and cerebral ischemia/reperfusion(I/R) injury.In this study,three key proteins in the endoplasmic reticulum stress pathway(glucose-regulated protein 78,caspase-12,and C/EBP homologous protein) were selected to examine the potential mechanism of endoplasmic reticulum stress in the neuroprotective effect of G protein-coupled estrogen receptor.Female Sprague-Dawley rats received ovariectomy(OVX),and then cerebral I/R rat models(OVX+ I/R) were established by middle cerebral artery occlusion.Immediately after I/R,rat models were injected with 100 μg/kg E2(OVX + I/R +E2),or 100 μg/kg G protein-coupled estrogen receptor agonist G1(OVX + I/R + G1) in the lateral ventricle.Longa scoring was used to detect neurobehavioral changes in each group.Infarct volumes were measured by 2,3,5-triphenyltetrazolium chloride staining.Morphological changes in neurons were observed by Nissl staining.Terminal dexynucleotidyl transferase-mediated nick end-labeling staining revealed that compared with the OVX + I/R group,neurological function was remarkably improved,infarct volume was reduced,number of normal Nissl bodies was dramatically increased,and number of apoptotic neurons in the hippocampus was decreased after E2 and G1 intervention.To detect the expression and distribution of endoplasmic reticulum stress-related proteins in the endoplasmic reticulum,caspase-12 distribution and expression were detected by immunofluorescence,and mRNA and protein levels of glucose-regulated protein 78,caspase-12,and C/EBP homologous protein were determined by polymerase chain reaction and western blot assay.The results showed that compared with the OVX+ I/R group,E2 and G1 treatment obviously decreased mRNA and protein expression levels of glucose-regulated protein 78,C/EBP homologous protein,and caspase-12.However,the G protein-coupled estrogen receptor antagonist G15(OVX + I/R + E2 + G15) could eliminate the effect of E2 on cerebral I/R injury.These results confirm that E2 and G protein-coupled estrogen receptor can inhibit the expression of endoplasmic reticulum stress-related proteins and neuronal apoptosis in the hippocampus,thereby improving dysfunction caused by cerebral I/R injury.Every experimental protocol was approved by the Institutional Ethics Review Board at the First Affiliated Hospital of Shihezi University School of Medicine,China(approval No.SHZ A2017-171) on February 27,2017.Zi-Wei Han Yue-Chen Chang Ying Zhou Hang Zhang Long Chen Yang Zhang Jun-Qiang Si Li Li 2019Neural Regeneration Research2019,14,7:16

5Facile synthesis of ultrathin metal-organic framework nanosheets for Lewis acid catalysis显示文摘Ultrathin metalorganic framework (MOF) nanosheets are attracting great interest in catalysis due to their unique and intriguing two-dime nsional (2D) features. Although many progresses have been achieved, it is still highly desirable to develop novel strategies for controllable synthesis of the well-defined ultrathin MOF nanosheets. Herein we report a polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP)-assisted route to synthesize the ultrathin Ni-MOF nanosheets characteristic of 1.5 nm in thickness, in which PVP is reacted with 2-aminoterephthalic acid (H2BDC-NH2) via formation of C=N bon d, followed by coord inatio n with Ni2+ io ns to form the ultrathi n MOF n anosheets. 6Estimation of reproduction numbers of COVID-19 in typical countries and epidemic trends under different prevention and control scenarios显示文摘The coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)has become a life-threatening pandemic.The epidemic trends in different countries vary considerably due to different policy-making and resources mobilization.We calculated basic reproduction number(R0)and the time-varying estimate of the effective reproductive number(Rt)of COVID-19 by using the maximum likelihood method and the sequential Bayesian method,respectively.European and North American countries possessed higher (R0)and unsteady Rt fluctuations,whereas some heavily affected Asian countries showed relatively low (R0)and declining Rt now.The numbers of patients in Africa and Latin America are still low,but the potential risk of huge outbreaks cannot be ignored.Three scenarios were then simulated,generating distinct outcomes by using SEIR(susceptible,exposed,infectious,and removed)model.First,evidence-based prompt responses yield lower transmission rate followed by decreasing Rt.Second,implementation of effective control policies at a relatively late stage,in spite of huge casualties at early phase,can still achieve containment and mitigation.Third,wisely taking advantage of the time-window for developing countries in Africa and Latin America to adopt adequate measures can save more people’s life.Our mathematical modeling provides evidence for international communities to develop sound design of containment and mitigation policies for COVID-19.Chen Xu Yinqiao Dong Xiaoyue Yu Huwen Wang Lhakpa Tsamlag Shuxian Zhang Ruijie Chang Zezhou Wang Yuelin Yu Rusi Long Ying Wang Gang Xu Tian Shen Suping Wang Xinxin Zhang Hui Wang Yong Cai 2020Frontiers of Medicine2020,14,5:8

8Influence of weight management on the prognosis of steatohepatitis in chronic hepatitis B patients during antiviral treatment显示文摘Background:Although concomitant nonalcoholic steatohepatitis(NASH)is common in chronic hepatitis B(CHB),the impact of viral factors on NASH and the outcome of CHB patients concomitant with NASH remain unclear.We aimed to investigate the outcomes of NASH in CHB patients receiving antiviral treatment.Methods:In the post-hoc analysis of a multicenter trial,na?ve CHB patients receiving 72-week entecavir treatment were enrolled.We evaluated the biochemical,viral and histopathological responses of these patients.The histopathological features of NASH were also evaluated,using paired liver biopsies at baseline and week 72.Results:A total of 1000 CHB patients were finally enrolled for analysis,with 18.2%of whom fulfilling the criteria of NASH.A total of 727 patients completed entecavir antiviral treatment and received the second biopsy.Serum HBe Ag loss,HBe Ag seroconversion and HBV-DNA undetectable rates were similar between patients with or without NASH(P>0.05).Among patients with NASH,the hepatic steatosis,ballooning,lobular inflammation scores and fibrosis stages all improved during follow-up(all P<0.001),46%(63/136)achieved NASH resolution.Patients with baseline body mass index(BMI)≥23 kg/m2(Asian criteria)[odds ratio(OR):0.414;95%confidence interval(95%CI):0.190-0.899;P=0.012]and weight gain(OR:0.187;95%CI:0.050-0.693;P=0.026)were less likely to have NASH resolution.Among patients without NASH at baseline,22(3.7%)developed NASH.Baseline BMI≥23 kg/m2(OR:12.506;95%CI:2.813-55.606;P=0.001)and weight gain(OR:5.126;95%CI:1.674-15.694;P=0.005)were predictors of incident NASH.Conclusions:Lower BMI and weight reduction but not virologic factors determine NASH resolution in CHB.The value of weight management in CHB patients during antiviral treatment deserves further evaluation.Xiu-Juan Chang Yi-Wen Shi Jing Wang Hua-Bao Liu Yan Chen Xiao-Ning Zhu Yong-Ping Chen Zu-Jiang Yu Qing-Hua Shang Lin Tan Qin Li Li Jiang Guang-Ming Xiao Liang Chen Wei Lu Xiao-Yu Hu Qing-Hua Long Lin-Jing An Zi-Yuan Zou Vincent Wai-Sun Wong Yong-Ping Yang Jian-Gao Fan 2021Hepatobiliary & Pancreatic Diseases International2021,20,5:8
9Coactive design of explainable agent-based task planning and deep reinforcement learning for human-UAVs teamwork显示文摘Unmanned Aerial Vehicles(UAVs)are useful in dangerous and dynamic tasks such as search-and-rescue,forest surveillance,and anti-terrorist operations.These tasks can be solved better through the collaboration of multiple UAVs under human supervision.However,it is still difficult for human to monitor,understand,predict and control the behaviors of the UAVs due to the task complexity as well as the black-box machine learning and planning algorithms being used.In this paper,the coactive design method is adopted to analyze the cognitive capabilities required for the tasks and design the interdependencies among the heterogeneous teammates of UAVs or human for coherent collaboration.Then,an agent-based task planner is proposed to automatically decompose a complex task into a sequence of explainable subtasks under constrains of resources,execution time,social rules and costs.Besides,a deep reinforcement learning approach is designed for the UAVs to learn optimal policies of a flocking behavior and a path planner that are easy for the human operator to understand and control.Finally,a mixed-initiative action selection mechanism is used to evaluate the learned policies as well as the human’s decisions.Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed methods.Chang WANG Lizhen WU Chao YAN Zhichao WANG Han LONG Chao YU 2020Chinese Journal of Aeronautics2020,33,11:8

12New approaches to characterizing urban air particles in central London显示文摘Atmospheric particles in central London during July 1996 have been apportioned to sources by two complimentary techniques: (1) morphological characteristics, determined using high power light microscopy; (2) chemical composition determined by energy dispersive spectroscopy. During the study period, the majority of particles were found to be either biological in origin, or from vehicle related combustion processes. Trends in the latter group of particles are explored further. Numbers of particles per cubic metre were determined at an hourly resolution over a period of six days, and were found to be significantly correlated with other traffic pollutants such as benzene and 1,3 butadiene, although there is no relationship with mass of PM10 as measured by a nearby UK Government monitoring station. We suggest in this paper that numbers of particles from car exhausts are more representative of traffic pollution than current estimates which use monitoring by mass.A.W. Mackay *, X. Long *, N.L. 15In situ observation of C_(60)(C(COOH)_(2))_(2) interacting with living cells using fluorescence microscopy显示文摘The interactions between nanoparticles and living cells were investigated by an imaging technique of fluorescence microscopy. For this pur- pose, the C60 derivative C60(C(COOH)2)2, a thera- peutic agent for degeneration diseases of central nervous system, was synthesized, purified and characterized. Its interaction with the living cell and penetration of the cellular membrane were in situ studied using the real time imaging technique, and its potential cytotoxicity was also examined by flow cy- tometry. The results indicate that C60(C(COOH)2)2 can easily enter cells, and is mainly located in cytoplasm by fluorescein labeling. Furthermore, C60(C(COOH)2)2 can carry the molecule that cannot cross cellular membranes into cells, because fluo- rescein compound itself cannot enter the cell or ad- here to membrane. 16Effort and Contribution of T-DNA Insertion Mutant Library for Rice Functional Genomics Research in China:Review and Perspective显示文摘With the completion of the rice (Oryza sativa L.) genome-sequencing project,the rice research community proposed to characterize the function of every predicted gene in rice by 2020.One of the most effective and high-throughput strategies for studying gene function is to employ genetic mutations induced by insertion elements such as T-DNA or transposons.Since 1999,with support from the Ministry of Science and Technology of China for Rice Functional Genomics Programs,large-scale T-DNA insertion mutant populations have been generated in Huazhong Agricultural University,the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences.Currently,a total of 372,346 mutant lines have been generated,and 58,226 T-DNA or Tos17 flanking sequence tags have been isolated.Using these mutant resources,more than 40 genes with potential applications in rice breeding have already been identified.These include genes involved in biotic or abiotic stress responses,nutrient metabolism,pollen development,and plant architecture.The functional analysis of these genes will not only deepen our understanding of the fundamental biological questions in rice,but will also offer valuable gene resources for developing Green Super Rice that is high-yielding with few inputs even under the poor growth conditions of many regions of Africa and Asia.Yuxiao Chang Tuan Long Changyin Wu 2012Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2012,54,12:4
17Study on the optimal operation mode of ventilation system during metro double-island platform fire显示文摘Large metro transfer stations have been widely constructed in China,among which the double-island station faces the serious fire safety issues owing to its large passenger flow.In this paper,simulation cases were carried out to investigate the effectiveness of different ventilation modes by jointly operating tunnel ventilation fan(TVF)and platform screen doors(PSD)under two typical fire scenarios in the platform.The numerical model was established by Fire Dynamics Simulator software and verified via reduced-scale model experiments.The results indicate that the TVF mode of supplying at the end near fire and exhausting at the other end is superior to that of exhausting at both ends.Besides,activating more PSD and TVF on the both sides of platform will restrict smoke in one end to the greater extent.During a fire in the middle of the platform,opening all PSD near tunnel-2 and TVF in tunnel-2 and tunnel-3 is the most appropriate mode.While during a fire at the left end of the platform,activating all PSD and TVF on both sides is the optimal operation mode.The conclusions can provide guidance for smoke control design and on-site emergency ventilation operation in double-island platform fire.Zeng Long Yuxuan Yang Chang Liu Maohua Zhong 2021Building Simulation2021,14,3:4

19Transient electro-osmotic and pressure driven flows of two-layer fluids through a slit microchannel显示文摘By method of the Laplace transform, this article presents semi-analytical solutions for transient electroosmotic and pressure-driven flows (EOF/PDF) of two-layer fluids between microparallel plates. The linearized Poisson-Boltzmann equation and the Cauchy momentum equation have been solved in this article. At the interface, the Maxwell stress is included as the boundary condition. By numerical computations of the inverse Laplace transform, the effects of dielectric constant ratio ε , density ratio ρ , pressure ratio p, viscosity ratio μ of layer II to layer I, interface zeta potential difference △ψ, interface charge density jump Q, the ratios of maximum electro-osmotic velocity to pressure velocity α , and the normalized pressure gradient B on transient velocity amplitude are presented.We find the velocity amplitude becomes large with the interface zeta potential difference and becomes small with the increase of the viscosity. The velocity will be large with the increases of dielectric constant ratio; the density ratio almost does not influence the EOF velocity. Larger interface charge density jump leads to a strong jump of velocity at the interface. 20Polydopamine and collagen coated micro-grated polydimethylsiloxane for human mesenchymal stem cell culture显示文摘Natural tissues contain highly organized cellular architecture.One of the major challenges in tissue engineering is to develop engineered tissue constructs that promote cellular growth in physiological directionality.To address this issue,micro-patterned polydimethylsiloxane(PDMS)substrates have been widely used in cell sheet engineering due to their low microfabrication cost,higher stability,excellent biocompatibility,and most importantly,ability to guide cellular growth and patterning.However,the current methods for PDMS surface modification either require a complicated procedure or generate a non-uniform surface coating,leading to the production of poor-quality cell layers.A simple and efficient surface coating method is critically needed to improve the uniformity and quality of the generated cell layers.Herein,a fast,simple and inexpensive surface coating method was analyzed for its ability to uniformly coat polydopamine(PD)with or without collagen on micro-grated PDMS substrates without altering essential surface topographical features.Topographical feature,stiffness and cytotoxicity of these PD and/or collagen based surface coatings were further analyzed.Results showed that the PD-based coating method facilitated aligned and uniform cell growth,therefore holds great promise for cell sheet engineering as well as completely biological tissue biomanufacturing.Dhavan Sharma Wenkai Jia Fei Long Shweta Pati Qinghui Chen Yibing Qyang Bruce Lee Chang Kyong Choi Feng Zhao 2019Bioactive Materials2019,4,1:4
