1The enhanced X-ray Timing and Polarimetry mission—eXTP显示文摘In this paper we present the enhanced X-ray Timing and Polarimetry mission—eXTP. eXTP is a space science mission designed to study fundamental physics under extreme conditions of density, gravity and magnetism. The mission aims at determining the equation of state of matter at supra-nuclear density, measuring effects of QED, and understanding the dynamics of matter in strong-field gravity. In addition to investigating fundamental physics, eXTP will be a very powerful observatory for astrophysics that will provide observations of unprecedented quality on a variety of galactic and extragalactic objects. 2Helical tomotherapy and volumetric modulated arc therapy:New therapeutic arms in the breast cancer radiotherapy显示文摘AIM To analyse clinical and dosimetric results of helical tomotherapy(HT) and volumetric modulated arc therapy(VMAT) in complex adjuvant breast and nodes irradiation.METHODS Seventy-three patients were included(31 HT and 42 VMAT). Dose were 63.8 Gy(HT) and 63.2 Gy(VMAT) in the tumour bed, 52.2 Gy in the breast, 50.4 Gy in supraclavicular nodes(SCN) and internal mammary chain(IMC) with HT and 52.2 Gy and 49.3 Gy in IMC and SCN with VMAT in 29 fractions. Margins to particle tracking velocimetry were greater in the VMAT cohort(7 mm vs 5 mm).RESULTS For the HT cohort, the coverage of clinical target volumes was as follows: Tumour bed: 99.4% ± 2.4%; breast: 98.4% ± 4.3%; SCN: 99.5% ± 1.2%; IMC:96.5% ± 13.9%. For the VMAT cohort, the coverage was as follows: Tumour bed: 99.7% ± 0.5%, breast: 99.3% ± 0.7%; SCN: 99.6% ± 1.4%; IMC: 99.3% ± 3%. For ipsilateral lung, Dmean and V20 were 13.6 ± 1.2 Gy, 21.1% ± 5%(HT) and 13.6 ± 1.4 Gy, 20.1% ± 3.2%(VMAT). Dmean and V30 of the heart were 7.4 ± 1.4 Gy, 1% ± 1%(HT) and 10.3 ± 4.2 Gy, 2.5% ± 3.9%(VMAT). For controlateral breast Dmean was 3.6 ± 0.2 Gy(HT) and 4.6 ± 0.9 Gy(VMAT). Acute skin toxicity grade 3 was 5% in the two cohorts.CONCLUSION HT and VMAT in complex adjuvant breast irradiation allow a good coverage of target volumes with an acceptable acute tolerance. 3A one-dimensional polynomial chaos method in CFD–Based uncertainty quantification for ship hydrodynamic performance显示文摘A one-dimensional non-intrusive Polynomial Chaos(PC)method is applied in Uncertainty Quantification(UQ)studies for CFD–based ship performances simulations.The uncertainty properties of Expected Value(EV)and Standard Deviation(SD)are evaluated by solving the PC coefficients from a linear system of algebraic equations.The one-dimensional PC with the Legendre polynomials is applied to:(1)stochastic input domain and(2)Cumulative Distribution Function(CDF)image domain,allowing for more flexibility.The PC method is validated with the Monte-Carlo benchmark results in several high-fidelity,CFD-based,ship UQ problems,evaluating the geometrical,operational and environmental uncertainties for the Delft Catamaran 372.Convergence is studied versus PC order P for both EV and SD,showing that high order PC is not necessary for present applications.Comparison is carried out for PC with/without the least square minimization when solving the PC coefficients.The least square minimization,using larger number of CFD samples,is recommended for current test cases.The study shows the potentials of PC method in Robust Design Optimization(RDO)and Reliability-Based Design Optimization(RBDO)of ship hydrodynamic performances.贺伟 DIEZ Matteo CAMPANA Emilio Fortunato STERN Frederick 邹早建 2013Journal of Hydrodynamics2013,25,5:5
4Preliminary experience of helical tomotherapy for locally advanced pancreatic cancer显示文摘Radiotherapy for locally advanced pancreatic cancer is technically difficult and frequently associated with high-grade digestive toxicity.Helical tomotherapy(HT)is a new irradiation modality that combines megavoltage computed tomography imaging for patient positioning with intensity-modulated fan-beam radiotherapy.Its recent availability opens new fields of exploration for pancreatic radiotherapy as a result of its ability to tailor very well-defined dose distributions around the target volumes.Here,we report the use of HT in two patients with locally advanced pancreatic cancer. 5Could helical tomotherapy do whole brain radiotherapy and radiosurgery?显示文摘Whole brain radiotherapy (WBRT) remains the standard management of breast cancer patients with brain metastases, allowing for symptomatic improvement and good local control in most patients. However, its results remain suboptimal in terms of both efficacy and toxicity. In highly selected breast cancer patients, stereotaxic radiotherapy demonstrates a very good local control with a low toxicity. With the purpose of improving the efficacy/toxicity ratio, we report the association of integrated boost with WBRT in a breast cancer patient with brain metastases. Two and a half years after completion of helical tomotherapy (HT), the patient experienced clinical and radiological complete remission of her brain disease. No delayed toxicity occurred and the patient kept her hair without need of radiosurgical procedure. The HT provided a high dosimetric homogeneity, delivering integrated radiation boosts, and avoiding critical structures involved in long-term neurological toxicity. 6Modern post-mortem imaging:an update on recent developments显示文摘Modern post-mortem investigations use an increasing number of digital imaging methods,which can be collected under the term“post-mortem imaging”.Most methods of forensic imaging are from the radiology field and are therefore techniques that show the interior of the body with technologies such as X-ray or magnetic resonance imaging.To digitally image the surface of the body,other techniques are regularly applied,e.g.three-dimensional(3D)surface scanning(3DSS)or photogrammetry.Today’s most frequently used techniques include post-mortem computed tomography(PMCT),post-mortem magnetic resonance imaging(PMMR),post-mortem computed tomographic angiography(PMCTA)and 3DSS or photogrammetry.Each of these methods has specific advantages and limitations.Therefore,the indications for using each method are different.While PMCT gives a rapid overview of the interior of the body and depicts the skeletal system and radiopaque foreign bodies,PMMR allows investigation of soft tissues and parenchymal organs.PMCTA is the method of choice for viewing the vascular system and detecting sources of bleeding.However,none of those radiological methods allow a detailed digital view of the body’s surface,which makes 3DSS the best choice for such a purpose.If 3D surface scanners are not available,photogrammetry is an alternative.This review article gives an overview of different imaging techniques and explains their applications,advantages and limitations.We hope it will improve understanding of the methods.Silke Grabherr Coraline Egger Raquel Vilarino Lorenzo Campana Melissa Jotterand Fabrice Dedouit 2017Forensic Sciences Research2017,2,2:5

9CT-scan vs.3D surface scanning of a skull:first considerations regarding reproducibility issues显示文摘Three-dimensional surface scanning(3DSS)and multi-detector computed tomography(MDCT)are two techniques that are used in legal medicine for digitalizing objects,a body or body parts such as bones.While these techniques are more and more commonly employed,surprisingly little information is known about the quality rendering of digitalized three-dimensional(3D)models provided by each of them.This paper presents findings related to the measurement precision of 3D models obtained through observation of a study case,where a fractured skull reconstructed by an anthropologist was digitalized using both post-mortem imaging methods.Computed tomography(CT)scans were performed using an 8-row MDCT unit with two different slice thicknesses.The variability of 3D CT models superimposition allowed to assess the reproducibility and robustness of this digitalization technique.Furthermore,two 3D surface scans were done using a professional high resolution 3D digitizer.The comparison of 3D CT-scans with 3D surface scans by superimposition demonstrated several regions with significant differences in topology(average difference between+1.45 and-1.22 mm).When comparing the reproducibility between these two digitalizing techniques,it appeared that MDCT 3D models led in general to greater variability for measurement precision between scanned surfaces.Also,the reproducibility was better achieved with the 3D surface digitizer,showing 3D models with fewer and less pronounced differences(from+0.32 to-0.31 mm).These experiments suggest that MDCT provides less reproducible body models than 3D surface scanning.But further studies must be undertaken in order to corroborate this first impression,and possibly explain the reason for these findings.Stella Fahrni Lorenzo Campana Alejandro Dominguez Tanya Uldin Fabrice Dedouit Olivier Deleemont Silke Grabherr 2017Forensic Sciences Research2017,2,2:2
10Concurrent use of aromatase inhibitors and hypofractionated radiation therapy显示文摘AIM: To retrospectively assess the acute and long-term toxicity using aromatase inhibitors (AI) therapy concurrently with hypofractionated radiotherapy (HFRT) in breast cancer patients. METHODS: From November 1999 to October 2007, 66 patients were treated with breast HFRT and concurrent AI. In 63 patients (95.5%), HFRT delivered a total dose of 32.5 Gy to the whole breast within 5 wk (five fractions, one fraction per week). Other fractionations were chosen in three patients for the patients' personal convenience. A subsequent boost to the tumor bed was delivered in 35 patients (53.0%). Acute toxicities were scored according to the Common Toxicity Criteria for Adverse Events v3. Late toxicity was defined as any toxicity occurring more than 6 mo after completion of HFRT and was scored according to the Late Effects Normal Tissue Task Force-Subjective, Objective, Management and Analytic scale. RESULTS: At the end of the HFRT course, 19 patients (28.8%) had no irradiation-related toxicity. Acute grade 1-2 epithelitis was observed in 46 patients (69.7%). One grade 3 toxicity (1.5%) was observed. With a median follow-up of 34 mo (range: 12-94 mo), 31 patients (47%) had no toxicity, and 35 patients (53%) presented with grade 1-2 fibrosis. No grade 3 or greater delayed toxicity was observed. CONCLUSION: We found that AI was well tolerated when given concurrently with HFRT. All toxicities were mild to moderate, and no treatment disruption was necessary.
