| 1 | Comparative genomics reveal shared genomic changes in syngnathid fishes and signatures of genetic convergence with placental mammals显示文摘Syngnathids(seahorses,pipefishes and seadragons)exhibit an array of morphological innovations including loss of pelvic fins,a toothless tubular mouth and male pregnancy.They comprise two subfamilies:Syngnathinae and Nerophinae.Genomes of three Syngnathinae members have been analyzed previously.In this study,we have sequenced the genome of a Nerophinae member,the Manado pipefish(Microphis manadensis),which has a semi-enclosed brood pouch.Comparative genomic analysis revealed that the molecular evolutionary rate of the four syngnathids is higher than that of other teleosts.The loss of all but one P/Q-rich SCPP gene in the syngnathids suggests a role for the lost genes in dentin and enameloid formation in teleosts.Genome-wide comparison identified a set of 118 genes with parallel identical amino acid substitutions in syngnathids and placental mammals.Association of some of these genes with placental and embryonic development in mammals suggests a role for them in syngnathid pregnancy. | Yan-Hong Zhang Vydianathan Ravi Geng Qin He Dai Hui-Xian Zhang Feng-Ming Han Xin Wang Yu-Hong Liu Jian-Ping Yin Liang-Min Huang Byrappa Venkatesh Qiang Lin | 2020 | National Science Review2020,7,6: | 5 |
| 2 | Surfactant assisted solvothermal synthesis of ZnO nanoparticles and study of their antimicrobial and antioxidant properties显示文摘This study demonstrated a solvothermal method of growth of three different morphologies of zinc oxide nanoparticles(ZnO NPs): i) flower-like nanorod and nanoflakes, ii) assembled hierarchical structure,and iii) nano granule. Oleic acid(C_(18)H_(34)O_2), gluconic acid(C_6H_(12)O_7) and tween 80(C_(64)H_(124)O_(26)) were used as surfactant/capping/reducing agent for the formation of different morphologies of nanoparticles.The as-synthesized ZnO NPs were characterized by different physicochemical techniques such as UV–vis(UV–vis) spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction(XRD), fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR), field emission scanning electron microscopy(FE-SEM), energy dispersive X-ray(EDX) analysis and dynamic light scattering(DLS) studies. Further, the antioxidant and antimicrobial activity of these nanostructures was evaluated. The antioxidant activity of these nanostructures was assessed via 2,2-diphenyl,1-1 picrylhydrazyl(DPPH), 2,2-azino-bis(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulphonic acid)(ABTS) and H_2O_2 free radical scavenging activity. The in vitro antimicrobial activity of the obtained nanostructures was demonstrated against both gram negative(Escherichia coli) and gram positive(Staphylococcus aureus) bacterial genera.This study revealed antioxidant and antimicrobial properties of different structures of ZnO NPs suggesting their biomedical and industrial applications. | Mina Zare K. | 3 | Microwave mediated synthesis and characterization of CeO_2-GO hybrid composite for removal of chromium ions and its antibacterial efficiency显示文摘A facile fabrication and processing of cerium oxide-graphene oxide(CeO_2-GO) hybrid nanocomposites without the use of any surfactant or any organic solvents using chemical method and treatment with microwave irradiation technique are reported. In-situ hexagonal nano cerium oxide particles embedded on the layered surface of GO sheets were investigated for the photodegradation of dyes, removal of chromium Cr(VI) ions and against antibacterial studies. The results imply that hybrid nanocomposites shows enhanced 5-folds of photocatalytic activities in UV(ultraviolet) light irradiation and exhibited rapid efficiency in the elimination of chromium ion better than the pure GO and CeO_2, which are inhibited by competent photosensitive electron inoculation and controlling the electron–hole recombination. The synergetic effect of CeO_2-GO composites played a vital role in showing better results against model bacterium than GO and CeO_2 are due to higher physical interaction endorsed to the stress of membranes acute by piercing edges,large surface area, and higher adsorptive conditions of graphene oxide sheets tailored with ceria particles. The amount of charge transferred at the interface increases with the concentration of O atoms, demonstrating the interaction between CeO_2 and GO is much stronger than CeO_2 and GO are due to the decrease of the average equilibrium distance between the interfaces. The CeO_2-GO interface staggered band alignments existing between the CeO_2 surfaces and GO which shows an excellent synergism.
