1Assessing the kinetic model of hydro-distillation and chemical composition ofAquilaria malaccensis leaves essential oil显示文摘This study aimed to model the kinetic of hydro-distillation of Aquilaria malaccensis leaves oil in order to understand and optimize the extraction process. In addition, this study, for the first time, aimed to identify the chemical compositions of the A. malaccensis leave-oil. By assessing both first-order kinetic model and the model of simultaneous washing and diffusion, the result indicated that the model of simultaneous washing and diffusion better describes the hydro-distillation mechanism of the essential oil from A. malaccensis leaves.The optimum time, solid to liquid ratio, and the heating power for extracting the highest amount of essential oil were found to be around 3 h, 1:10(g·ml-1), and 300 W respectively. Yellow essential oil with a strong smell and a yield of 0.05 v/w was extracted by hydro-distillation Clevenger apparatus. Chemical compounds of the essential oil were analyzed using gas chromatography–mass spectroscopy(GC/MS), which resulted in identification of 42 compounds that constitute 93% of essential oil. Among the identified components,Pentadecanal(32.082%), 9-Octadecenal,(Z)(15.894%), and Tetradecanal(6.927%) were the major compounds.Considering the fact that all the identified major components possess pesticidal properties, A. malaccensis leaves can be regarded as a promising natural source for producing pesticides.Mahtab Samadi Zurina Zainal Abidin Robiah Yunus Dayang Radiah Awang Biak Hiroyuki Yoshida Eng Hai Lok 2017Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering2017,25,2:2

15Low Temperature Growth of Vertically Aligned Carbon Nanotubes via Floating Catalyst Chemical Vapor Deposition Method显示文摘Synthesis of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) below 600℃ using supporting catalyst chemical vapor deposition method was reported by many research groups.However,the floating catalyst chemical vapor deposition received less attention due to imperfect nanotubes produced.In this work,the effects of varying the preheating temperature on the synthesis of CNT were investigated.The reaction temperature was set at 570℃.The preheating set temperature was varied from 150 to 400℃ at 50℃ interval.Three O-ring shape heating mantels were used as heating source for the preheater.In situ monitoring device was used to observe the temperature profile in the reactor.Benzene and ferrocene were used as the carbon source and catalyst precursor,respectively.Vertically aligned CNTs were synthesized when the preheating temperature was set at 400℃.When the preheating temperature was increased up to 400℃,both the length and the alignment of CNTs produced were improved.M.R.Atiyah D.R.Awang Biak F.Ahmadun I.S.Ahamad F.Mohd Yasin H.Mohamed Yusoff 2011Journal of Materials Science & Technology2011,27,4:0
