| 2 | GSA:Genome Sequence Archive显示文摘With the rapid development of sequencing technologies towards higher throughput and lower cost, sequence data are generated at an unprecedentedly explosive rate. To provide an efficient and easy-to-use platform for managing huge sequence data, here we present Genome Sequence Archive(GSA; http://gffzzdbc7b6aaae734bddh95uucp6uxcb66wfp.ffgz.tsg.suse.edu.cn/gsa or http://gffzz4eaf941a184140e3h95uucp6uxcb66wfp.ffgz.tsg.suse.edu.cn), a data repository for archiving raw sequence data. In compliance with data standards and structures of the International Nucleotide Sequence Database Collaboration(INSDC), GSA adopts four data objects(Bio Project, Bio Sample,Experiment, and Run) for data organization, accepts raw sequence reads produced by a variety of sequencing platforms, stores both sequence reads and metadata submitted from all over the world,and makes all these data publicly available to worldwide scientific communities. | 3 | Prevalence and treatment of hypertension in China: impacts of 2017 American College of Cardiology/American Heart Association High Blood Pressure Guideline显示文摘The definition, recommended treatment thresholds and targets of hypertension have been updated in the recent 2017 American College of Cardiology/American Heart Association(ACC/AHA) Guideline for the Prevention, Detection, Evaluation and Management of High Blood Pressure in Adults. However,the impacts of this guideline on Chinese population are currently unknown. In this study, we aim to provide updated data in China using criteria from the updated guideline. A multistage, stratified sampling method was used to obtain a representative sample of 50,171 adults aged 18 years and above.Hypertension was defined as an average systolic blood pressure !130 mm Hg, or an average diastolic blood pressure !80 mm Hg, or self-reported use of antihypertensive medications in past 2 weeks. The weighted prevalence of hypertension was 60.1%(95% confidence interval [CI] 59.3%–61.0%). The treatment rate and recommended treatment rate were 16.8%(95% CI 16.1%–17.6%) and 53.7%(95% CI52.6%–54.9%), respectively; the gap was more prominent among men and participants from rural areas.Hence, the adoption of the 2017 ACC/AHA guideline will lead to a substantial increase in both prevalence and number of patients needing treatment in China. | 4 | Tourist preferences for agricultural landscapes:a case study of terraced paddy fields in Noto Peninsula,Japan显示文摘Many agricultural landscapes have been formed through the interaction and co-evolution of nature and people, and represent the living landscapes shaped over time through intensive and continuous human cultivation. Terraced paddy fields are being re-evaluated to take into account the multiple functions they fill beyond only rice cultivation, particularly their contribution to the national biodiversity strategy of Japan. Since the 1990 s, terraced paddy fields have been considered a representative cultural landscape of Japan and, at the same time, multi-stakeholder conservation activities have been conducted throughout Japan to reverse the increasing abandonment of terraces. Shiroyone Senmaida is an outstanding cultural landscape and a major tourist attraction in Noto Peninsula, Ishikawa Prefecture, which was designated through an initiative by the Food and Agriculture Organization(FAO) as a Globally Important Agricultural Heritage Systems(GIAHS) pilot site in 2011. It is important to clarify tourist preference for terraced paddy field landscapes to contribute to future policy making toward improved agricultural landscape conservation. A key finding of this study is that tourists visiting toenjoy the agricultural landscape are also concerned on the sustainability of the farming methods and preferred to maintain the naturalness of the landscape. Respondents with higher educational levels and greater concern for the biological and traditional farming knowledge aspects of the rice terraces were also more inclined to favor sustainable farming practices. Tourists preferred to maintain the naturalness and rurality of the agricultural landscape, and indicated that construction of excessive tourist facilities would cause the landscape to deteriorate. | 7 | Heteroepitaxial Growth and Characterization of 3C-SiC Films on Si Substrates Using LPVCVD显示文摘3C-SiC films have been deposited on Si (111) substrates by the Iow-pressure vertical chemical vapor deposition (LPVCVD) with gas mixtures of SiH4, C3H8 and Ha. The growth mechanism of SiC films can be obtained through the observations using field emission scanning electron microscope (FESEM). It is found that the growth process varies from surface control to diffusion control when the deposition temperature increases from 1270 to 1350℃. The X-ray diffraction (XRD) patterns show that the SiC films have good crystallinity and strong preferred orientation.The results of the high resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM) image and the transmission electron diffraction (TED) pattern indicate a peculiar superlattice structure of the film. | 18 | Exp2 polymorphisms associated with variation for fiber quality properties in cotton(Gossypium spp.)显示文摘Plant expansins are a group of extracellular proteins thought to affect the quality of cotton fibers. Previous expression profile analysis revealed that six Expansin A genes are present in cotton, of which two(GhExp1 and GhExp2) produce transcripts that are specific to the developing cotton fiber. To identify the phenotypic function of Exp2, and to determine whether nucleotide variation among alleles of Exp2 affects fiber quality, candidate gene association mapping was conducted. Gene-specific primers were designed to amplify the Exp2 gene. By amplicon sequencing, the nucleotide diversity of Exp2 was investigated across92 accessions(including 7 Gossypium arboreum, 74 Gossypium hirsutum, and 11 Gossypium barbadense accessions) with different fiber qualities. Twenty-six SNPs and seven InDels including 14 from the coding region of Exp2 were detected, forming twelve distinct haplotypes in the cotton collection. Among the 14 SNPs in the coding region, five were missense mutations and nine were synonymous nucleotide changes. The average SNP/InDel per nucleotide ratio was 2.61%(one SNP per 39 bp), with 1.81 and 3.87% occurring in coding and non-coding regions, respectively. Nucleotide and haplotype diversity across the entire Exp2 region was 0.00603(π) and 0.844, respectively, and diversity in non-coding regions was higher than that in coding regions. For linkage disequilibrium(LD), the mean r2 value for all polymorphism loci pairs was 0.48, and LD did not decay over 748 bp. Based on132 simple sequence repeat(SSR) loci evenly covering 26 chromosomes, the population structure was estimated, and the accessions were divided into seven groups that agreed well with their genomic origin and evolutionary history. A general linear model was used to calculate the Exp2-wide diversity–trait associations of 5 fiber quality traits, considering population structure(Q). Four SNPs in Exp2 were associated with at least one of the fiber quality traits, but not with fiber elongation. The highest positive effect on UHML and STR was observed for haplotype Hap_6 of Exp2. There was a significant association of Exp2 with fiber quality traits. There were many haplotypes in the Exp2 region, of which the most favorable was Hap_6.
