1Canopy Temperature Depression as a Potential Selection Criterion for Drought Resistance in Wheat显示文摘Field studies were conducted at Bushland, Texas, USA, in 2004 to examine usefulness of canopy temperature depression(CTD), the difference of air-canopy temperature, in screening wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) genotypes for yield underdryland and irrigated. Forty winter wheat genotypes were grown under irrigation and dryland. CTDs were recorded afterheading between 1 330 and 1 530 h on 6 clear days for dryland and 9 days for irrigation. Drought susceptible index (DSI)for each genotype was calculated using mean yield under dryland and irrigated conditions. Genotypes exhibited greatdifferences in CTD under each environment. The dryland CTDs averaged 1.33°C ranging from -0.67 to 2.57°C, and theaverage irrigation CTD were 4.59°C ranging from 3.21 to 5.62°C. A low yield reduction was observed under drylandconditions relative to irrigated conditions for high-CTD genotypes. CTD values were highly negatively correlated withDSI under dryland, and genotypes of CTDs = 1.3°C in dryland condition were identified as drought resistant. For 21genotypes classified as drought resistant by DSI, their CTDs were 1.68°C for dryland and 4.35°C for irrigation on average;for 19 genotypes classified as drought susceptible by DSI, average CTD was 0.94°C in dryland and 4.85°C in irrigation.The high-yield genotypes consistently had high CTD values, and the low-yield ones had low CTD values for allmeasurements in dryland. After heading, genotypes maintained consistent ranking for CTD. Regression results for CTDand yield suggested that the best time for taking CTD measurement was 3-4 weeks after heading in irrigation but any timebefore senescence in dryland. Crop water stress index (CWSI) calculated from CTD data was highly correlated with CWSIcalculated from yield, which suggesting traditional costly CWSI measurement may be improved by using portable infraredthermometers. Most importantly, grain yield was highly correlated with CTD under dryland (R2 = 0.79-0.86) and irrigation(R2 = 0.46-0.58) conditions. These results clearly indicated grain yield and water stress can be predicted by taking CTDvalues in field, which can be used by breeding programs as a potential selection criterion for grain yield and droughtresistance in wheat, but a second study year is needed to confirm further.FAN Ting-lu Maria Balta Jackie Rudd William A Payne 2005Agricultural Sciences in China2005,4,10:35
2Vertebral fracture assessment:Current research status and application in patients with kyphoplasty显示文摘Imaging of the spine is of paramount importance for the recognition of osteoporotic vertebral fractures(VFs), and standard radiography(SR) of the spine is the suggested diagnostic method but is not routinely used because of the cost and radiation exposure considerations. VF assessment(VFA) is an efficient, low radiation method for identifying VFs at the time of bone mineral density(BMD) measurement. Prediction models used to indicate the need for VFA may have little predictive power in subspecialty referral populations such as rheumatologic patients or patients who underwent kyphoplasty. Rheumatologic patients are frequently at increased risk for VFs, and VFA should be performed on an individual basis, also taking in account the guidelines for the general population. Kyphoplasty is a new minimal invasive procedure for the treatment of VFs and is being performed with increasing frequency. Following kyphoplasty, there may be a risk of new VFs in adjacent vertebrae. The assessment and follow-up of patients who underwent kyphoplasty requires repetitive X-ray imaging with the known limitations of SR. Thus, VFA may facilitate the evaluation of VFs in these patients because most of the kyphoplasty patients would fulfill the criteria. In a pilot study, we measured the BMD and performed VFA in 28 patients treated with kyphoplasty. Ratios of anterior to posterior(A/P) and middle to posterior(M/P) height were measured, and Genant's method was used to classify vertebrae accordingly. Intraobserver and interobserver reliability for A/P, M/P and the Genant's method were determined. Only 1 patient did not meet the criteria for VFA. Of the 364 available vertebrae, 295 could be analyzed. Most missing data(concerning 69 vertebrae) occurred in the upper thoracic region. Three of the 69 non-eligible vertebrae were lumbar vertebrae with cement leakage from the kyphoplasty procedure. In our hands, VFA was highly reproducible, demonstrating very good agreement in terms of intraobserver and interobserver reliability. Agreement was very good onthe vertebral level, 'vertebrae with kyphoplasty' level and '2 above and 1 below the kyphoplasty vertebrae'level. The application of Genant's method to these patients also resulted in perfect agreement. We believe that the potential value of VFA in patients treated with kyphoplasty requires further evaluation, particularly comparing VFA with SR and performing a longitudinal follow-up. 3Keratinocytes costimulate naive human T cells via CD2: a potential target to prevent the development of proinflammatory Th1 cells in the skin显示文摘The interplay between keratinocytes and immune cells,especially T cells,plays an important role in the pathogenesis of chronic inflammatory skin diseases.During psoriasis,keratinocytes attract T cells by releasing chemokines,while skin-infiltrating selfreactive T cells secrete proinflammatory cytokines,e.g.,IFN γand IL-17A,that cause epidermal hyperplasia.Similarly,in chronic graftversus-host disease,allogenic IFN γ-producing Th1/Tc1 and IL-17-producing Th17/Tc17 cells are recruited by keratinocyte-derived chemokines and accumulate in the skin.However,whether keratinocytes act as nonprofessional antigen-presenting cells to directly activate naive human T cells in the epidermis remains unknown.Here,we demonstrate that under proinflammatory conditions,primary human keratinocytes indeed activate naive human T cells.This activation required cell contact and costimulatory signaling via CD58/CD2 and CD54/LFA-1.Naive T cells costimulated by keratinocytes selectively differentiated into Th1 and Th17 cells.In particular,keratinocyte-initiated Th1 differentiation was dependent on costimulation through CD58/CD2.The latter molecule initiated STAT1 signaling and IFN γproduction in T cells.Costimulation of T cells by keratinocytes resulting in Th1 and Th17 differentiation represents a new explanation for the local enrichment of Th1 and Th17 cells in the skin of patients with a chronic inflammatory skin disease.Consequently,local interference with T cell–keratinocyte interactions may represent a novel strategy for the treatment of Th1 and Th17 cell-driven skin diseases.Christian Orlik Daniel Deibel Johanna Küblbeck Emre Balta Sabina Ganskih Jüri Habicht Beate Niesler Jutta Schröder-Braunstein Knut Schäkel Guido Wabnitz Yvonne Samstag 2020Cellular & Molecular Immunology2020,17,4:4
4富炭硬沥青基WO3/TiO2催化剂提升染料和药物降解的光催化行为研究显示文摘采用溶剂热法制备出富炭硬沥青基WO3/TiO2催化剂。通过光电子能谱议(XPS)、红外光谱仪(FTIR)、拉曼光谱仪(Raman)、扫描电镜(SEM)和UV-Vis漫反射光谱仪(DRS)等手段表征催化剂的形貌、结构、光学和物理性质。SEM观察到硬沥青表面完全被WO3/TiO2颗粒覆盖。Raman和XPS分析表明,富炭硬沥青与WO3,TiO2复合良好。DRS结果显示在带隙较低时(2.83 eV),富炭硬沥青基WO3/TiO2催化剂对可见光的吸收性能得到提高。在UV-A辐照下,通过降解橙色Ⅱ染料和药物来探讨所制催化剂的光催化性能。橙色Ⅱ染料降解度随着硬沥青添加比例增加而增加,这归因于吸附和光催化的协同效应,即光吸收的增加和光产生的空穴和电子在W/Ti界面容易转移。而且,为了对比硬沥青原料与所制催化剂的吸附性能,在不同pH值下进行了批量吸附实验,并采用等温线和动力吸附模型探讨了温度和吸附值。本研究提供了富炭硬沥青作为自然碳源应用于碳基光催化材料制备思路。Zeynep Balta Esra Bilgin Simsek 2020新型炭材料2020,35,4:2
