1Evaluating the impact of mass housings'in-between spaces'spatial configuration on users'social interaction显示文摘This research examines the impact of in-between space configuration on users'social practices.The effects of different degrees of permeability of these spaces on the social interactions of the inhabitants are also analyzed.This research is based on a comparative approach using space syntax analysis and snapshot observations on four mass housing neighborhoods in Serif,Algeria.The neighborhoods are selected according to their degree of permeability,location in the city,realization period,and syntax measures from integrated to segregated.The activity patterns of two-week days for each study case are observed and recorded.Correlation results of observed social activities and syntactic measures demonstrate that spatial configuration affects people's use of in-between spaces.Moreover,connectivity and clustering coefficients are revealed to be important indicators of social activities.Previous urban studies argued that integrated spaces are mostly used by people.However,social interaction in the studied cases increases in the least connected areas,adjoining spaces to the buildings,and most closed spaces.This research finds that social activities are dependent on the degree of permeability,which when low,gives rise to increased social interaction and activities.Wiem Zerouati Tahar Bellal 2020Frontiers of Architectural Research2020,9,1:1

16The impact of COVID-19 on health of the older persons in Bangladesh显示文摘The COVID-19 is impacting the health of the population,including older persons.Available evidence shows that older people are highly vulnerable and more likely to have adverse health outcomes.In Bangladesh,the older population is rapidly increasing,living with various disadvantaged socio-economic conditions,including inadequate access and healthcare services.These disparities are likely to increase during the COVID-19,resulting in high morbidity and mortality among them.Thus,we have examined the health vulnerabilities of older persons due to the COVID-19 pandemic using content analysis.We have analyzed 102 content collected from vari-ous online and printed articles published in newspapers,journals,and other relevant sources.The study has found increased health risks,deteriorated mental health,and poor health system functioning during the pandemic and its impact on older per-sons in Bangladesh.Strengthening health systems through an integrated model with capacity development of existing health care providers to deal with elderly health problems,including mental health and psychosocial wellbeing;promoting preven-tive measures,facilitating access to healthcare is required.Bangladesh can learn the Chinese experience to adopt innovative,specialized,and advanced systems to effi-ciently fight against the COVID-19.Mohammad Mainul Islam Shafayat Sultan Mohammad Bellal Hossain 2021China Population and Development Studies2021,5,6:0
17Study of thin Films of Nickel Oxide (NiO) Deposited by the Spray Pyrolysis Method显示文摘In this work,thin films of nickel oxide(NiO)were deposited by a simple and inexpensive technique,which is spray pyrolysis on ordinary glass substrates heated to a fixed temperature of500°C,from a solution containing nickel nitrate hexahydrate as a precursor dissolved in distilled water with deferent values of concentrations.The NiO thin films obtained were characterized to determine the structure with X-ray diffraction technique(XRD),the absorption domain(UV-Visible Spectroscopy),and the surface morphology(SEM).The X-ray diffraction patterns confirm the presence of NiO phase with preferential orientation along the(111)direction.The optical gap for nickel oxide calculated with a concentration of0.1M from the measurement of optical absorption is3.6eV,which is quite comparable to the value of the ratio.Antar Bouhank Youcef.
