1Short-term effects of intravitreal triamcinolone acetonide injection on ocular blood flow evaluated with color Doppler ultrasonography显示文摘AIM:To evaluate the changes in ocular blood flow with color Doppler ultrasonography(CDU) after intravitreal triamcinolone acetonide(IVTA) injection.METHODS:A total of 46 patients who underwent IVTA(4 mg/0.1 mL) injection for diabetic macular edema(DME)(n =22), central retinal vein occlusion(CRVO)(n =12) and choroidal neovascular membrane(CNVM)(n =12) were included in the study. Peak systolic velocity(PSV), end diastolic velocity(EDV) and resistivity index(RI) were measured from the ophthalmic artery(OA), the central retinal artery(CRA) and the posterior ciliary artery(PCA)of each patient with CDU before, at the end of the first week and at the end of the first month following IVTA injection.RESULTS:In the DME group, PSV of OA at the first of the first month(mean ±SD)(37.48 ±10.87 cm/s) increased compared to pre-injection value(31.39 ±10.84 cm/s)(P =0.048). There was a statistically significant decrease(P =0.049) in PSV of CRA at the end of the first month(7.97±2.67 cm/s) compared to the pre-injection(9.47±3.37 cm/s).There was not any statistically significant difference onthe other parameters in the DME group. 2Optimization of aerodynamic efficiency for twist morphing MAV wing显示文摘Twist morphing(TM) is a practical control technique in micro air vehicle(MAV) flight.However, TM wing has a lower aerodynamic efficiency(CL/CD) compared to membrane and rigid wing. This is due to massive drag penalty created on TM wing, which had overwhelmed the successive increase in its lift generation. Therefore, further CL/CDmaxoptimization on TM wing is needed to obtain the optimal condition for the morphing wing configuration. In this paper, two-way fluid–structure interaction(FSI) simulation and wind tunnel testing method are used to solve and study the basic wing aerodynamic performance over(non-optimal) TM, membrane and rigid wings. Then,a multifidelity data metamodel based design optimization(MBDO) process is adopted based on the Ansys-DesignXplorer frameworks. In the adaptive MBDO process, Kriging metamodel is used to construct the final multifidelity CL/CDresponses by utilizing 23 multi-fidelity sample points from the FSI simulation and experimental data. The optimization results show that the optimal TM wing configuration is able to produce better CL/CDmaxmagnitude by at least 2% than the non-optimal TM wings. 3Effectivity of intraoperative adjustable suture technique in horizontal strabismus显示文摘AIM:To compare the long-term effectivity of intraoperative adjustable suture technique with traditional non-adjustable strabismus surgery.·METHODS:Two hundred and thirty-three patients,who underwent strabismus surgery either with traditional procedures or one-stage intraoperative adjustable suture technique,were included in our long-term follow-up study.One hundred and eighteen patients were evaluated in traditional surgery group(TSG) and 115 who underwent adjustable suture were in the one-stage intraoperative adjustable surgery group(ASG).In this group 9 patients had paralytic strabismus and 16 had reoperations,2 patients had restrictive strabismus related to thyroid eye disease.The mean follow up in the TSG was 26.2 months and it was 24.8 months in the ASG group.·RESULTS:In patients with exotropia(XT) the mean correction of deviation for near fixation in ASG(32.4 ±13.2PD) and in TSG(26.4±8.2PD) were similar(P =0.112).The correction for distant fixation in ASG(33.2±11.4PD)and TSG(30.9±7.2PD) were not significantly different(P =0.321).In patients with esotropia(ET) even the mean correction of deviation for both near(31 ±12PD) and distant(30.6±12.8PD) fixations were higher in ASG thanin TSG,for both near(28.27±14.2PD) and distant(28.9±12.9PD) fixations,the differences were not significant(P =0.346,0.824 respectively).The overall success rate of XT patient was 78.9% in TSG and 78.78% in ASG,the difference was not significant(P =0.629).The success rates were 78.75% in TSG and 75.51% in ASG in ET patient,which was also not significantly different(P =0.821).·CONCLUSION:Although patients in ASG had more complex deviation such as paralysis,reoperations and restrictive strabismus,success rates of this tecnique was as high as TSG which did not contain complicated deviation.One-stage intraoperative adjustable suture technique is a safe and effective method for cooperative patient who has complex deviation.Ayse Gul Kocak Altintas Hasan Basri Arifoglu Inci Kocak Midillioglu Elif Damar Gungor Saban Simsek 2013International Journal of Ophthalmology(English edition)2013,6,4:3
4Efficient solvent extraction of antioxidant-rich extract from a tropical diatom,Chaetoceros calcitrans (Paulsen) Takano 1968显示文摘Objective: To compare the in vitro antioxidant capacity of a diatom, Chaetoceros calcitrans(C. calcitrans) extracted using six types of solvents.Methods: Each extract was evaluated in terms of extraction yield, total carotenoid,fucoxanthin content, total phenolic and antioxidant capacities(DPPH and ABTS +scavenging activity and iron chelating activity).Results: The methanol extract exhibited the highest yield [(22.71 ± 0.96) g/100 g dry weight(DW)], total carotenoid [(4.46 ± 0.36) mg/g DW], total phenolic [(2.49 ± 0.08) mg gallic acid equivalents/g DW] and second highest fucoxanthin content [(2.08 ± 0.03) mg fucoxanthin/g DW] as compared to other solvent extracts. Methanolic extract also exhibited significantly higher(P < 0.05) scavenging(DPPH, ABTS +) and iron chelating activities.Conclusions: Methanol was the recommended solvent for the production of antioxidant rich extract from C. calcitrans. Both carotenoids and phenolic acids were found to be positively correlated to the antioxidant capacities of C. calcitrans. 6An assessment of antioxidant status in patients with carbon monoxide poisoning显示文摘BACKGROUND: Carbon monoxide poisoning(COP) is an important cause of mortality and morbidity worldwide. This study was to investigate the levels of serum paraoxonase(PON), arylesterase(ARYL), ceruloplasmin(Cp), and sulfhydryl(-SH) in the treatment of COP, and to further understand the pathophysiology of COP.METHODS: This prospective study comprised 107 individuals with COP(group 1) and 50 healthy volunteers(group 2). Serum, plasma, and erythrocyte samples were taken on admission from all participants with COP. This process was repeated in the 90 th and 180 th minutes of treatment. Samples were taken from the control group only once. The levels of plasma PON, ARYL, Cp activity and-SH were measured in both groups.RESULTS: Age, gender, and carboxyhemoglobin level were not correlated with PON, ARYL, Cp, and-SH levels. PON, ARYL, and-SH levels were signifi cantly decreased in group 1 compared with group 2. Conversely, Cp was signifi cantly elevated in group 1 in contrast to group 2. Although ARYL was lower on admission in patients with COP than that was observed in the 90 th and 180 th minutes(P<0.001), Cp was higher on admission than at the other time points(P<0.001).CONCLUSIONS: Participants with COP had decreased levels of antioxidants(PON, ARLY, and-SH). 8Computational aerodynamic analysis on perimeter reinforced(PR)-compliant wing显示文摘Implementing the morphing technique on a micro air vehicle(MAV) wing is a very challenging task,due to the MAV's wing size limitation and the complex morphing mechanism.As a result,understanding aerodynamic characteristics and flow confgurations,subject to wing structure deformation of a morphing wing MAV has remained obstructed.Thus,this paper presents the investigation of structural deformation,aerodynamics performance and flow formation on a proposed twist morphing MAV wing design named perimeter reinforced(PR)-compliant wing.The numerical simulation of two-way fluid structure interaction(FSI) investigation consist of a quasistatic aeroelastic structural analysis coupled with 3D incompressible Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes and shear-stress-transport(RANS-SST) solver utilized throughout this study.Verifcation of numerical method on a rigid rectangular wing achieves a good correlation with available experimental results.A comparative aeroelastic study between PR-compliant to PR and rigid wing performance is organized to elucidate the morphing wing performances.Structural deformation results show that PR-compliant wing is able to alter the wing's geometric twist characteristic,which has directly influenced both the overall aerodynamic performance and flow structure behavior.Despite the superior lift performance result,PR-compliant wing also suffers from massive drag penalty,which has consequently affected the wing effciency in general.Based on vortices investigation,the results reveal the connection between these aerodynamic performances with vortices formation on PR-compliant wing.N.I.Ismail A.H.Zulkifli M.Z.Abdullah M.Hisyam Basri Norazharuddin Shah Abdullah 2013Chinese Journal of Aeronautics2013,26,5:2

13Adipose-derived stem cells in the treatment of hepatobiliary diseases and sepsis显示文摘Determination of the mesenchymal stem cells is one of the greatest and most exciting achievements that tissue engineering and regenerative medicine have achieved.Adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells(AD-MSC)are easily isolated and cultured for a long time before losing their stem cell characteristics,which are self-renewal and pluripotency.AD-MSC are mesenchymal stem cells that have pluripotent lineage characteristics.They are easily accessible,and the fraction of stem cells in the adipose tissue lysates is highest among all other sources of mesenchymal stem cells.It is also HLA-DR negative and can be transplanted allogenically without the need for immunosuppression.These advantages have popularized its use in many fields including plastic reconstructive surgery.However,in the field of hepatology and liver transplantation,the progress is slower.AD-MSC have the potential to modulate inflammation,ameliorate ischemia-reperfusion injury,and support liver and biliary tract regeneration.These are very important for the treatment of various hepatobiliary diseases.Furthermore,the anti-inflammatory potential of these cells has paramount importance in the treatment of sepsis.We need alternative therapeutic approaches to treat end-stage liver failure.AD-MSC can provide a means of therapy to bridge to definitive therapeutic alternatives such as liver transplantation.Here we propose to review theoretic applications of AD-MSC in the treatment of hepatobiliary diseases and sepsis.Basri Satilmis Gizem Selen Cicek Egemen Cicek Sami Akbulut Tevfik Tolga Sahin Sezai Yilmaz 2022World Journal of Clinical Cases2022,10,14:1
