1Comprehensive analysis of slope stability and determination of stable slopes in the Chador-Malu iron ore mine using numerical and limit equilibrium methods显示文摘One of the critical aspects in mine design is slope stability analysis and the determination of stable slopes. In the Chador- Malu iron ore mine, one of the most important iron ore mines in central Iran, it was considered vital to perform a comprehensive slope stability analysis. At first, we divided the existing rock hosting pit into six zones and a geotechnical map was prepared. Then, the value of MRMR (Mining Rock Mass Rating) was determined for each zone. Owing to the fact that the Chador-Malu iron ore mine is located in a highly tectonic area and the rock mass completely crushed, the Hoek–Brown failure criterion was found suitable to estimate geo-mechanical parameters. After that, the value of cohesion (c) and friction angle (φ) were calculated for different geotechnical zones and relative graphs and equations were derived as a function of slope height. The stability analyses using numerical and limit equilibrium methods showed that some instability problems might occur by increasing the slope height. 2Mineral processing plant location using the analytic hierarchy process——a case study:the Sangan iron ore mine(phase 1)显示文摘Locating the mineral processing plant near a mine is the most important parameter that affects the whole process.Many factors,and their preferences,should be considered in this stage.The factors include economical,geological,technical,environmental and tectonic parameters.A multi-criteria decision making method is necessary to rank the alternatives.In this paper we describe how plant location is selected by using the Analytic Hierarchy Process(AHP).This method,with eight criteria,was used to select a location for the mineral processing plant at the Sangan iron ore mine(phase 1).Three alternatives for the processing plant were evaluated.The main criteria were distance from the mine,access to heavy machinery transport,the amount of excavation required for grading,bed mixture capacity,belt conveyor length,distance from the tailing dam,distance from the waste dumps and surface water diversion requirements.Finally,the alternatives were ranked and the best location was proposed.SAFARI Mohsen ATAEI Mohammad KHALOKAKAIE Reza KARAMOZIAN Mohammad 2010Mining Science and Technology2010,20,5:15
3Simultaneous effects of joint spacing and joint orientation on the penetration rate of a single disc cutter显示文摘This paper describes the influence of joint spacing and joint orientation on the penetration rate of a Tunnel Boring Machine(TBM) disc cutter as modeled by the Discrete Element Method(DEM).The input data for the simulations were obtained from the sandstone along the Alborz tunnel that is currently being excavated in Iran using a 5.2 m diameter open TBM.Three joint spacings,150,200,and 300 mm,were modeled together with seven values of joint orientation;0°,15°,30°,45°,60°,75°,and 90°.The results show that the penetration increases when joint orientation increases from 0° to 75°,but it decreases as the joint orientation increases further from 75° to 90°.This is true for each joint spacing.In addition,for a given joint orientation increasing the joint spacing causes the TBM penetration to decrease.The optimum joint orientation,from the viewpoint of TBM penetration,is about 60-75°.Bejari Hadi Kakaie Reza Ataei Mohammad Khademi-Hamidi Javad 2011Mining Science and Technology2011,21,4:13

5Application of a fuzzy analytical hierarchy process to the prediction of vibration during rock sawing显示文摘A new predictive model for evaluating the vibration of a sawing machine was developed using a new rock classification system. The predictors are machine parameters and a rock sawability index. The new rock classification system includes four major parameters of the rock: uniaxial compressive strength, abrasiv- ity index, mean Moh's hardness, and Young's modulus. The FAHP approach was used when determining the weights of these parameters by six decision makers. Two groups of carbonate rocks were sawn using a fully-instrumented laboratory sawing rig at different feed rates and depths of cut. During the sawing trials system vibration was monitored as a measure of saw performance. Then, a new statistical model was obtained by multiple regression on the machining parameters and the rock sawability index. 6Monte Carlo Analytic Hierarchy Process (MAHP) approach to selection of optimum mining method显示文摘One of the most critical and complicated steps in mine design is a selection of suitable mining method based upon geological,geotechnical,geographical,safety and economical parameters.The aim of this study is developing a Monte Carlo simulation to selection the optimum mining method by using effective and major criteria and at the same time,taking subjective judgments of decision makers into consideration.Proposed approach is based on the combination of Monte Carlo simulation with conventional Analytic Hierarchy Process(AHP).Monte Carlo simulation is used to determine the confdence level of each alternative’s score,is calculated by AHP,with the respect to the variance of decision makers’opinion.The proposed method is applied for Jajarm Bauxite Mine in Iran and eventually the most appropriate mining methods for this mine are ranked.Ataei Mohammad Shahsavany Hashem Mikaeil Reza 2013International Journal of Mining Science and Technology2013,23,4:8
7Application of analytical hierarchy process to selection of primary crusher显示文摘Selection of crusher required a great deal of design based on the mining plan and operation input.Selection of the best primary crusher from all of available primary crushers is a Multi-Criterion Decision Making(MCDM) problem. In this paper, the Analytical Hierarchy Process(AHP) method was used to selection of the best primary crusher for Golegohar Iron Mine in Iran. For this reason, gyratory, double toggle jaw, single toggle jaw, high speed roll crusher, low speed sizer, impactor, hammer mill and feeder breaker crushers were considered as alternatives and capacity, feed size, product size, rock compressive strength, abrasion index and mobility of crusher were considered as criteria. 8Reliability-based maintenance scheduling of hydraulic system of rotary drilling machines显示文摘Hydraulic system has a critical and important role in drilling machines.Any failure in this system leads to problems in power system and machine operation.Since the failure cannot be prevented entirely,it is important to minimize its probability.Reliability is one of the most effcient and important method to study safe operation probability of hydraulic systems.In this research,the reliability of hydraulic system of four rotary drilling machines in Sarcheshmeh Copper Mine in Iran has been analyzed.The data analysis shows that the time between failures(TBF)of Machines A and C obey the Weibull(2P)and Weibull(3P)distribution,respectively.Also,the TBF of Machines B and D obey the lognormal distribution.With regard to reliability plots of hydraulic systems,preventive reliability-based maintenance time intervals for 80%reliability levels for machines in this system are 10 h.Mohammad Javad Rahimdel Mohammad Ataei Reza Khalokakaei Seyed Hadi Hoseinie 2013International Journal of Mining Science and Technology2013,23,5:4
9Determination of coal mine mechanization using fuzzy logic显示文摘Two of the most important tasks in coal mines are to improve efficiency and to increase production besides keeping safety constantly in mind.In order to obtain these goals,mine mechanization is required.Mine mechanization needs high levels of investment and should therefore be studied carefully before final decisions about mechanization are made.When analysizing the potential for mechanization the following,rather imprecise,factors should be considered:seam inclination and thickness,geological disturbances,seam floor conditions,roof conditions,water at the working face and the extension of seams.In our study we have used fuzzy logic,membership functions and created fuzzy rule-based methods and to considered the ultimate objective:mechanization of mining.As a case study,the mechanization of the Takht coal seams in Iran was investigated.The results show a high potential for mechanization in most of the Takht coal seams.Ataei M Khalokakaei R Hossieni M 2009Mining Science and Technology2009,19,2:4

11Production of hydrogen and syngas via pyrolysis of bagasse in a dual bed reactor显示文摘Pyrolysis of bagasse followed by thermal cracking of tar was carried out at atmospheric pressure using a dual bed reactor. The first bed was used for the pyrolysis and the second bed was used for thermal cracking of tar. Iron fillings were used as the packed bed material in the second bed. The effects of reaction time (20 to 40 min), reactor temperature (600 to 900℃) and packed bed height (40-100 mm) on the product (char, tar and gas) yield and gas (H2 , CO, CO2 , CH4 , CnHm ) composition were studied. Over the ranges of the experimental conditions used, the operating conditions were optimized for pyrolysis temperature around 850℃, a reaction time of 30 min and packed bed height of 100 mm, thus we could obtain a gas richer in hydrogen and carbon monoxide and poorer in carbon dioxide and hydrocarbons. It was observed that compared with single bed process, dual bed process increased the gas yield from 0.397 to 0.750 m3 /kg and decreased the tar yield from 0.445 to 0.268 g/g while the heating value of the product gas remained almost constant (10-11 MJ/m3 ).Morteza Shoja Mokhtar Akhond Babatabar Ahmad Tavasoli Abtin Ataei 2013Journal of Energy Chemistry2013,22,4:3
12Quality of sleep and its determinants among people with type 2 diabetes mellitus in Northwest of Iran显示文摘AIM To examine sleep quality and its determinants among people with type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM).METHODS This is a cross-sectional study conducted among diabetic patients referring to Ardabil diabetes clinic in Northwest of Iran. Information on sleep quality was collected using Pittsburg Sleep Quality Index(PSQI). A questionnaire was used to collect data on sociodemographic lifestyle factors and psychological distress. This questionnaire was completed through an interview, and clinical information was extracted from patient's record. Data analysis was done using SPSS software version 23 and univariate andmultivariate analyses.RESULTS Study participants consist of 256 people with T2 DM the majority of whom were women(70%), and mean age of participants was 54.06 ± 9.09. The mean of total score of PSQI was 5.56 ± 3.34. Relative to younger age group, the middle-aged people with T2 DM were twice more likely to be poor sleeper; the adjusted OR was 2.03(95%CI: 1.01-4.08); and those with longer duration of diabetes were about 1.8 times more likely to report poor quality of sleep(ORadj = 1.77, 95%CI: 0.98-3.13). Participants with cholesterol level ≥ 240 mg/dL were about twice more likely to be poor sleeper(ORadj = 1.99, 95%CI: 1.01-3.94). 13A new framework for evaluation of rock fragmentation in open pit mines显示文摘The main purpose of blasting in open pit mines is to produce the feed for crushing stage with the optimum dimensions from in situ rocks. The size distribution of muck pile indicates the efficiency of blasting pattern to reach the required optimum sizes. Nevertheless, there is no mature model to predict fragmentation distribution to date that can be used in various open pit mines. Therefore, a new framework to evaluate and predict fragmentation distribution is presented based on the image analysis approach. For this purpose, the data collected from Jajarm bauxite mine in Iran were used as the sources in this study. The image analysis process was performed by Split-Desktop software to find out fragmentation distribution, uniformity index and average size of the fragmented rocks. Then, two different approaches including the multivariate regression method and the decision-making trial and evaluation laboratory(DEMATEL) technique were incorporated to develop new models of the uniformity index and the average size to improve the Rosin-Rammler function. The performances of the proposed models were evaluated in four blasting operation sites.
