| 2 | Comparative evaluation of the diagnosis, reporting and investigation of malaria cases in China, 2005–2014: transition from control to elimination for the national malaria programme显示文摘Background:The elimination of malaria requires high-quality surveillance data to enable rapid detection and response to individual cases.Evaluation of the performance of a national malaria surveillance system could identify shortcomings which,if addressed,will improve the surveillance program for malaria elimination.Methods:Case-level data for the period 2005–2014 were extracted from the China National Notifiable Infectious Disease Reporting Information System and Malaria Enhanced Surveillance Information System.The occurrence of cases,accuracy and timeliness of case diagnosis,reporting and investigation,were assessed and compared between the malaria control stage(2005–2010)and elimination stage(2011–2014)in China's Mainland.Results:A total of 210730 malaria cases were reported in China's Mainland in 2005–2014.The average annual incidence declined dramatically from 2.5 per 100000 people at the control stage to 0.2 per 100000 at the elimination stage,but the proportion of migrant cases increased from 9.8%to 41.0%.Since the initiation of the National Malaria Elimination Programme in 2010,the overall proportion of cases diagnosed by laboratory testing consistently improved,with the highest of 99.0%in 2014.However,this proportion was significantly lower in non-endemic provinces(79.0%)than that in endemic provinces(91.4%)during 2011–2014.The median interval from illness onset to diagnosis was 3 days at the elimination stage,with one day earlier than that at the control stage.Since 2011,more than 99%cases were reported within 1 day after being diagnosed,while the proportion of cases that were reported within one day after diagnosis was lowest in Tibet(37.5%).The predominant source of cases reporting shifted from town-level hospitals at the control stage(67.9%cases)to city-level hospitals and public health institutes at the eliminate stage(69.4%cases).The proportion of investigation within 3 days after case reporting has improved,from 74.6%in 2010 to 98.5%in 2014.Conclusions:The individual case-based malaria surveillance system in China operated well during the malaria elimination stage.This ensured that malaria cases could be diagnosed,reported and timely investigated at local level.However,domestic migrants and overseas populations,as well as cases in the historically malarial non-endemic areas and hard-to-reach area are new challenges in the surveillance for malaria elimination. | Jun-Ling Sun Sheng Zhou Qi-Bin Geng Qian Zhang Zi-Ke Zhang Can-Jun Zheng Wen-Biao Hu Archie C.A.Clements Sheng-Jie Lai Zhong-Jie Li | 2016 | Infectious Diseases of Poverty2016，5，1： | 5 |

| 4 | Spatial patterns and effects of air pollution and meteorological factors on hospitalization for chronic lung diseases in Beijing, China显示文摘Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD), lung cancer(LC) and tuberculosis(TB) are common chronic lung diseases that generate a large disease burden and significant health care resource use in China. The aim of this study was to quantify spatial patterns and effects of air pollution and meteorological factors on hospitalization of COPD, LC and TB in Beijing. Daily counts of hospitalization for 2010 were obtained from the Beijing Urban Employees Basic Medical Insurance(UEBMI) system.Bayesian hierarchical Poisson regression models were applied to identify spatial patterns of hospitalization for COPD, LC and TB at the district level and explore associations with inhalable particulate matter(aerodynamic diameter <10 μm, PM10), sulfur dioxide(SO2), nitrogen dioxide(NO2), mean temperature and relative humidity. There were 18,882, 14,295 and 2,940 counts of hospitalizations for COPD, LC and TB respectively, in Beijing in 2010. Clusters of high relative risk were in different locations for the three diseases. The effect of relative humidity on COPD hospitalization was most significant with a relative risk(RR) of 1.070(95%CI: 1.054, 1.086) per one percent increase. For lung cancer hospitalization, exposure to ambient SO2 was associated with a RR of 1.034(95%CI: 1.011, 1.058) per μg m–3 increase. For tuberculosis, the effect of mean temperature was significant with a RR of 1.107(95%CI: 1.038, 1.180) per °C increase. Risk factors and spatial patterns were different for hospitalization of non-infectious and infectious chronic lung disease in Beijing. | 5 | Estimating the prevalence of Echinococcus in domestic dogs in highly endemic for echinococcosis显示文摘Background:Cystic echinococcosis(CE)and alveolar echinococcosis(AE)are highly endemic in Xiji County of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region(NHAR)in China where the control campaign based on dog de-worming with praziquantel has been undertaken over preceding decades.This study is to determine the current prevalence of Echinococcus granulosus and E.multilocularis in domestic dogs and monitor the echinococcosis transmission dynamics.Methods:Study villages were selected using landscape patterns(Geographic Information System,GIS)for Echinococcus transmission“hot spots”,combined with hospital records identifying risk areas for AE and CE.A survey of 750 domestic dogs,including copro-sampling and owner questionnaires,from 25 selected villages,was undertaken in 2012.A copro-multiplex PCR assay was used for the specific diagnosis of E.granulosus and E.multilocularis in the dogs.Data analysis,using IBM SPSS Statistics,was undertaken,to compare the prevalence of the two Echinococcus spp.in dogs between four geographical areas of Xiji by theχ^(2)test.Univariate analysis of the combinations of outcomes from the questionnaire and copro-PCR assay data was carried out to determine the significant risk factors for dog infection.Results:The highest de-worming rate of 84.0%was found in the northwest area of Xiji County,and significant differences(P<0.05)in the de-worming rates among dogs from the four geographical areas of Xiji were detected.The highest prevalence(19.7%,59/300)of E.multilocularis occurred in northwest Xiji,though the highest prevalence(18.1%,38/210)of E.granulosus occurred in southwest Xiji.There was no significant difference(P>0.05)in the prevalence of E.granulosus in dogs from the northwest,southwest,northeast,and southeast of Xiji,but there were significant differences(P<0.05)between dogs infected with E.multilocularis from the four areas.None of the other independent variables was statistically significant.Conclusions:The results from this study indicate a high prevalence of both E.granulosus and E.muiltilocularis in dogs in Xiji County,NHAR.Transmission of E.multilocularis was more impacted by geographical risk-factors in Xiji County than that of E.granulosus.Dogs have the potential to maintain the transmission of both species of Echinococcus within local Xiji communities,and the current praziquantel dosing of dogs appears to be ineffective or poorly implemented in this area. | Cong-Nuan Liu Yang-Yang Xu Angela M.Cadavid-Restrepo Zhong-Zi Lou Hong-Bin Yan Li Li Bao-Quan Fu Darren J.Gray Archie A.Clements Tamsin S.Barnes Gail M.Williams Wan-Zhong Jia Donald P.McManus Yu-Rong Yang | 2018 | Infectious Diseases of Poverty2018，7，1： | 3 |

| 7 | WNK-SPAK/OSR1-NCC kinase signaling pathway as a novel target for the treatment of salt-sensitive hypertension显示文摘Hypertension is the most prevalent health condition worldwide,affecting~1 billion people.Gordon’s syndrome is a form of secondary hypertension that can arise due to a number of possible mutations in key genes that encode proteins in a pathway containing the With No Lysine[K](WNK)and its downstream target kinases,SPS/Ste20-related proline-alanine-rich kinase(SPAK)and oxidative stress responsive kinase 1(OSR1).This pathway regulates the activity of the thiazide-sensitive sodium chloride cotransporter(NCC),which is responsible for NaCl reabsorption in the distal nephron.Therefore,mutations in genes encoding proteins that regulate the NCC proteins disrupt ion homeostasis and cause hypertension by increasing NaCl reabsorption.Thiazide diuretics are currently the main treatment option for Gordon’s syndrome.However,they have a number of side effects,and chronic usage can lead to compensatory adaptations in the nephron that counteract their action.Therefore,recent research has focused on developing novel inhibitory molecules that inhibit components of the WNK-SPAK/OSR1-NCC pathway,thereby reducing NaCl reabsorption and restoring normal blood pressure.In this review we provide an overview of the currently reported molecular inhibitors of the WNK-SPAK/OSR1-NCC pathway and discuss their potential as treatment options for Gordon’s syndrome. | Archie Brown Nur Farah Meor Azlan Zhijuan Wu Jinwei Zhang | 2021 | Acta Pharmacologica Sinica2021，42，4： | 2 |
