Essential oils and its antibacterial, antifungal and anti-oxidant activity applications:A review显示文摘Essential oils (EOs) seem to be more versatile and consist of a variety of volatile and organic biological active substances that are also employed as the better substitutes in the bacteria, fungal and various food sectors. Many researchers have done detailed research about the antibacterial property of essential oils and their respective inhabitants. While several pioneering works in the past have explained the mode of action of some compounds,an extensive understanding of most of the substances and their molecular mechanisms is still lacking. In particular, the bioactivity characteristics of EOs were evaluated by the main components found in these. These components were commonly utilized in the applications of bactericidal, fungicidal, medicinal and antioxidant drugs. The oils bioactivity can be contrasted with the behavior of pharmaceutical formulations which are produced synthetically.Consequently, essential oils are showing promise organic extracts that require further analysis in the nutrition or pharmaceutical companies for potential applications as supplements, additives or antibacterial.Because of their diverse activities like antifungal and antibacterial characteristics, essential oils may be utilized as alternate additives to improve the grain and seed shelf life. This review aims to provide a summary of existing information on the antibacterial and antifungal properties of EOs,their mechanism, and ingredients in identifying the areas of study that can promote the implementation in various bacterial and fungal properties. | Tianyu Hou Siva Sankar Sana Huizhen Li Yun Xing Anima Nanda Vasudeva Reddy Netala Zhijun Zhang | 2022 | Food Bioscience2022,47,3: | 1

Biochemical synthesis of silver nanoprticles using filamentous fungi Penicillium decumbens (MTCC-2494) and its efficacy against A-549 lung cancer cell line显示文摘Biosynthesis of silver and other metallic nanoparticles is one of the emerging research area in the field of science and technology due to their potentiality, especially in the field of nano-biotechnology and biomedical sciences in order to develop nanomedicine. In our present study, Penicillium decumbens(MTCC-2494) was brought from Institute of Microbial Technology(IMTECH) Chandigarh and employed for extracellular biological synthesis of silver nanoparticles. Ag-NPs formation was appeared with a dark brown color inside the conical flask. Characterization of Ag-NPs were done by UV-Spectrophotometric analysis which showed absorption peak at 430 nm determines the presence of nanoparticles, Fourier transform infrared(FT-IR) spectroscopic analysis, showed amines and amides are the possible proteins involved in the stabilization of nanoparticles as capping agent. Atomic force Microscopy(AFM) confirmed the particle are spherical, size was around 30 to 60 nm and also the roughness of nanoparticles. Field emission scanning electron microscopy(FE-SEM) showed the topology of the nanoparticles and were spherical in shape. The biosynthesis process was found fast, ecofriendly and cost effective. Nano-silver particle was found to have a broad antimicrobial activity and also it showed good enhancement of antimicrobial activity of Carbenicillin, Piperacillin, Cefixime, Amoxicillin, Ofloxacin and Sparfloxacin in a synergistic mode. These Ag-NPs showed good anti-cancer activity at 80 μg·m L^(-1) upon 24 hours of incubation and toxicity increases upon 48 hours of incubation against A-549 human lung cancer cell line and the synergistic formulation of the antibiotic with the synthesized nanoparticles was found more effective against the pathogenic bacteria studied. | Shahnaz Majeed Mohd Syafiq bin Abdullah Gouri Kumar Dash Mohammed Tahir Ansari Anima Nanda | 2016 | Chinese Journal of Natural Medicines2016,14,8: | 1

Phytopharmacological Profile of Jasminum Grandiflorum Linn.(Oleaceae)显示文摘Plants are the real basis towards animal life and are also central to people's livelihood. The contributions of the plants in performing varied religious celebrations and in other multiple beneficiaries like medicine, human happiness as well as in treating deadly diseases can never be neglected. In treating diseases, the plants and their constituents are better choice than any other synthetic chemical. The nature has been kind enough to provide the human beings with various types of medicinal plants and in the real sense these form the storehouse of curing almost all the ailments. Consequently, most of the drugs which are being used in preparing formulations have their origin and roots in the plants which form the chief natural source of medicines. Even in modern era, the plant-derived drugs are being extensively used, either in their original or semi-synthetic form. It is because their natural phytoconstituents are highly innocuous posing relatively fewer or no side effects. Based upon their observations, analysis and experience, our ancestors used many plants for medicinal purposes and thus their efforts need to be supported by scientific evidence. Jasminum grandiflorum Linn. is one of such important plants. It has been extensively used by the tribes all over India to treat different diseases which mainly include body pains, toothache, stomach ache, ulcers, and sexual impotency. Chemistry of the plant revealed the presence of mainly secoiridoids, terpenoids, flavonoids and tannins. Not much scientific support was given to the folklore claims for this plant but some of its traditional uses were investigated like spasmolytic, wound healing, antimicrobial, angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitor, antiulcer and antioxidant activities. This article is the review of research works done on the plant Jasminum grandiflorum Linn. to date. As a part of it the local names, morphology, traditional claims, chemistry and pharmacological activities have been discussed. | Mittal Arun Sardana Satish Pandey Anima | 2016 | Chinese Journal of Integrative Medicine2016,22,4: | 0
Differential gene expression profile evaluation between uterine leiomyoma and leiomyosarcoma using a machine learning approach显示文摘Objective The objective of this study is to differentiate between uterine leiomyomas(ULM)and uterine leiomyosarcomas(ULMS)by conducting molecular differential analysis and identifying potential prognostic biomarkers for diagnosis. Methods The microarray datasets(GSEID:GSE64763 and GSE185543)were retrieved from the Gene Expression Omnibus database.Data preprocessing and differential gene expressions(DEGs)analysis were performed. The DEGs were further intersected to find the common DEGs in ULM and ULMS and further validation of selected DEGs were performed.Further,a machine learning classifier was also applied in the selection of biomarkers.Protein-protein interaction network based upon STRING v 10.5,was constructed.Additionally,Gene Ontology(GO)and KEGG(Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes)pathway enrichment analyses were also performed to dissect possible functions and pathways. Results A total of 50 significant DEGs for ULM while 321 DEGs for ULMS have been identified with their official gene symbol.Between ULM and ULMS,a total of 14 common DEGs were identified of which 8 were up-regulated while 6 were down-regulated.The DEGs of(GSE185543)were also analyzed and the significant genes were retrieved common in both datasets for further analysis.Using a machine learning approach,10 feature genes were identified.Using the expression profiles of these genes,a sequential minimal optimization(SMO)prediction model was built on the training set,and it accurately and reliably classified features expression in ULM and ULMS in the independent test set.Furthermore,Co-Enrichment analysis was also performed. Conclusion The study identified several DEGs,including ZNF365,EPYC,COL11A1,SHOX2,MMP13,TNN,GPM6A,and GATA2,through cross-validation,machine learning classifier, and Co-Enrichment analysis. These candidate disease genes may provide valuable insight into the underlying mechanisms and could be used as potential diagnostic biomarkers for ULM and ULMS.However, further validation of these genes is necessary to better understand their roles in the pathogenesis of ULM and ULMS. | Sonal Upadhyay Ravi Bhushan Anima Tripathi Lavina Chaubey Amita Diwakar Pawan K.Dubey | 2023 | Gynecology and Obstetrics Clinical Medicine2023,3,3: | 0
Chaotic Social Group Optimization for Structural Engineering Design Problems显示文摘Till now, several novel metaheuristic algorithms are proposed for global search. But only specific algorithms have become popular or attracted researchers, who are efficient in solving global optimization problems as well as real-world application problems. The Social Group Optimization(SGO)algorithm is a new metaheuristic bioinspired algorithm inspired by human social behavior that attracted researchers due to its simplicity and problem-solving capability. In this study,to deal with the problems of low accuracy and local convergence in SGO,the chaos theory is introduced into the evolutionary process of SGO.Since chaotic mapping has certainty, ergodicity, and stochastic property,by replacing the constant value of the self-introspection parameter with chaotic maps, the proposed chaotic social group optimization algorithm increases its convergence rate and resulting precision. The proposal chaotic SGO is validated through 13 benchmark functions and after that 9 structural engineering design problems have been solved. The simulated results have been noticed as competent with that of state-of-art algorithms regarding convergence quality and accuracy, which certifies that improved SGO with chaos is valid and feasible. | Anima Naik | 2023 | Journal of Bionic Engineering2023,20,4: | 0
