2Changes in intestinal mucosal immune barrier in rats with endotoxemia显示文摘AIM:To investigate the dysfunction of the immunological barrier of the intestinal mucosa during endotox-emia and to elucidate the potential mechanism of this dysfunction.METHODS:Male Wistar rats were randomly distributed into two groups:control group and lipopolysaccharide(LPS)group.Endotoxemia was induced by a single caudal venous injection of LPS.Animals were sacrifi ced in batches 2,6,12 and 24 h after LPS infusion.The number of microfold(M)-cells,dendritic cells(DCs),CD4+ T cells,CD8+ T cells,regulatory T(Tr)cells and IgA+ B cells in the intestinal mucosa were counted after immunohistochemical staining.Apoptotic lympho-cytes were counted after TUNEL staining.The levels of interleukin(IL)-4,interferon(IFN)-γ and forkhead box P3(Foxp3)in mucosal homogenates were measured by ELISA.The secretory IgA(sIgA)content in the total protein of one milligram of small intestinal mucus was detected using a radioimmunological assay.RESULTS:This research demonstrated that LPS-induced endotoxemia results in small intestinal mucosa injury.The number of M-cells,DCs,CD8+ T cells,and IgA+ B cells were decreased while Tr cell and apoptotic lymphocyte numbers were increased signifi cantly.The number of CD4+ T cells increased in the early stages and then slightly decreased by 24 h.The level of IL-4 significantly increased in the early stages and then reversed by the end of the study period.The level of IFN-γ increased slightly in the early stages and then decreased markedly by the 24 h time point.Level of Foxp3 increased whereas sIgA level decreased.CONCLUSION:Mucosal immune dysfunction forms part of the intestinal barrier injury during endotoxemia.The increased number and function of Tr cells as well as lymphocyte apoptosis result in mucosal immunodefi ciency.Chong Liu Ang Li Yi-Bing Weng Mei-Li Duan Bao-En Wang Shu-Wen Zhang 2009World Journal of Gastroenterology2009,15,46:35

5Seismic fragility analysis of highway bridges considering multi-dimensional performance limit state显示文摘Fragility analysis for highway bridges has become increasingly important in the risk assessment of highway transportation networks exposed to seismic hazards. This study introduces a methodology to calculate fragility that considers multi-dimensional performance limit state parameters and makes a first attempt to develop fragility curves for a multi-span continuous (MSC) concrete girder bridge considering two performance limit state parameters: column ductility and transverse deformation in the abutments. The main purpose of this paper is to show that the performance limit states, which are compared with the seismic response parameters in the calculation of fragility, should be properly modeled as randomly interdependent variables instead of deterministic quantities. The sensitivity of fragility curves is also investigated when the dependency between the limit states is different. 6Nanophotonic media for artificial neural inference显示文摘We show optical waves passing through a nanophotonic medium can perform artificial neural computing.Complex information is encoded in the wavefront of an input light. The medium transforms the wavefront to realize sophisticated computing tasks such as image recognition. At the output, the optical energy is concentrated in well-defined locations, which, for example, can be interpreted as the identity of the object in the image.These computing media can be as small as tens of wavelengths and offer ultra-high computing density. 7Observation of atmospheric nitrous acid with DOAS in Beijing, China显示文摘Measurements of nitrous acid(HONO) and nitrogen dioxide(NO2) in Beijing City have been performed by means of a developed differential optical absorption spectroscopy(DOAS) system based on photodiode array(PDA), during the autumn of 2004. HONO and NO2 were simultaneously identified by their characteristic absorption bands in the spectral region between 337 nm and 372 nm with high sensibility and time resolution. The concentrations of HONO exhibit obviously diurnal variation with a nocturnal maximum and a daytime minimum. The highest HONO value up to 11.8 ?滋g/m3 was observed during the night of 2/3 September. Possible sources of the observed HONO were discussed. Good correlation to NO2 indicates that NO2 is a main source component. 8MicroRNA changes of bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells differentiated into neuronal-like cells by Schwann cell-conditioned medium显示文摘Bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells differentiate into neurons under the induction of Schwann cells. However, key microRNAs and related pathways for differentiation remain unclear. This study screened and identified differentially expressed microRNAs in bone marrow- derived mesenchymal stem cells induced by Schwann cell-conditioned medium, and explored targets and related pathways involved in their differentiation into neuronal-like cells. Primary bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells were isolated from femoral and tibial bones, while primary Schwann cells were isolated from bilateral saphenous nerves. Bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells were cultured in unconditioned (control group) and Schwann cell-conditioned medium (bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cell + Schwann cell group). Neuronal differentiation of bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells induced by Schwann cell-conditioned medium was observed by time-lapse imaging. Upon induction, the morphology of bone marrow-derived mesencaymal stem cells changed into a neural shape with neurites. Results of quantitative reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction revealed that nestin mRNA expression was upregulated from 1 to 3 days and downregulated from 3 to 7 days in the bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cell + Schwann cell group. Compared with the control group, microtubule-associated protein 2 mRNA expression gradually increased from 1 to 7 days in the bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cell + Schwann cell group. After 7 days of induction, microRNA analysis iden:ified 83 significantly differentially expressed microRNAs between the two groups. Gene Ontology analysis indicated enrichment of microRNA target genes for neuronal projection development, regulation of axonogenesis, and positive regulation of cell proliferation. Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes pathway analysis demonstrated that Hippo, Wnt, transforming growth factor-beta, and Hedgehog signaling pathv/ays were potentially associated with neural differentiation of bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells. This study, which carried out successful microRNA analysis of neuronal-like cells differentiated from bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells by Schwann cell induction, revealed key microRNAs and pathways involved in neural differentiation of bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells. 9Schroth exercises improve health-related quality of life and radiographic parameters in adolescent idiopathic scoliosis patients显示文摘Background:Finding an optimal treatment strategy for adolescent idiopathic scoliosis(AIS)patients remains challenging because of its intrinsic complexity.For mild to moderate scoliosis patients with lower skeletal growth potential(Risser 3-5),most clinicians agree with observation treatment;however,the curve progression that occurs during puberty,the adolescent period,and even in adulthood,remains a challenging issue for clinicians.The aim of the study is to investigate the efficacy of Schroth exercise in AIS patients with lower skeletal growth potential(Risser 3-5)and moderate scoliosis(Cobb angle 20°-40°).Methods:From 2015 to 2017,data of 64 patients diagnosed with AIS in Peking University Third Hospital were reviewed.Forty-three patients underwent Schroth exercise were classified as Schroth group,and 21 patients underwent observation were classified as observation group.Outcomes were measured by health-related quality of life(HRQOL)and radiographic parameters.HRQOL was assessed using the visual analog scale(VAS)scores for back,Scoliosis Research Society-22(SRS-22)patient questionnaire.Radiographic spinopelvic parameters were obtained from anteroposterior and lateral X-rays.The pre-treatment and post-treatment HRQOL and radiographic parameters were tested to validate Schroth exercise efficacy.The inter-rater reliability of the radiographic parameters was tested using the interclass correlation coefficient(ICC).The pairedt test was used to examine HRQOL and radiographic parameters.Clinical relevance between C2-C7 sagittal vertical axis(SVA)and thoracic kyphosis was analyzed using Spearman correlation.Results:In Schroth group,VAS back score,SRS-22 pain,and SRS-22 self-image domain were significantly improved from pre-treatment 3.0±0.8,3.6±0.5,and 3.5±0.7 to post-treatment 1.6±0.6(t=5.578,P=0.013),4.0±0.3(t=-3.918,P=0.001),and 3.7±0.4(t=-6.468,P<0.001),respectively.No significant improvements of SRS-22 function domain(t=-2.825,P=0.088)and mental health domain(t=-3.174,P=0.061)were observed.The mean Cobb angle decreased from 28.9±5.5°to 26.3±5.2°at the final follow-up,despite no statistical significance was observed(t=1.853,P=0.102).The mean C2-C7 SVA value decreased from 21.7±8.4 mm to 17.0±8.0 mm(t=-1.224P=0.049)and mean T1 tilt decreased from 4.9±4.2°to 3.5±3.1°(t=2.913,P=0.011).No significant improvement of radiographic parameters and HRQOL were observed in observation group.Conclusions:For AIS patients with a Risser 3-5 and a Cobb angle 20°-40°,Schroth exercises improved HRQOL and halted curve progression during the follow-up period.Both cervical spine alignment and shoulder balance were also significantly improved after Schroth exercises.We recommend Schroth exercises for patients with AIS.Ang Gao Jun-Yu Li Rui Shao Tong-Xuan Wu Yong-Qiang Wang Xiao-Guang Liu Miao Yu 2021Chinese Medical Journal2021,,21:10
10Fast Marching Method for Microseismic Source Location in Cavern-Containing Rockmass: Performance Analysis and Engineering Application显示文摘Microseismic(MS)event locations are vital aspect of MS monitoring technology used to delineate the damage zone inside the surrounding rock mass.However,complex geological conditions can impose significantly adverse effects on the final location results.To achieve a high-accuracy location in a complex cavern-containing structure,this study develops an MS location method using the fast marching method(FMM)with a second-order difference approach(FMM2).Based on the established velocity model with three-dimensional(3D)discrete grids,the realization of the MS location can be achieved by searching the minimum residual between the theoretical and actual first arrival times.Moreover,based on the calculation results of FMM2,the propagation paths from the MS sources to MS sensors can be obtained using the linear interpolation approach and the Runge–Kutta method.These methods were validated through a series of numerical experiments.In addition,our proposed method was applied to locate the recorded blasting and MS events that occurred during the excavation period of the underground caverns at the Houziyan hydropower station.The location results of the blasting activities show that our method can effectively reduce the location error compared with the results based on the uniform velocity model.Furthermore,the obtained MS location was verified through the occurrence of shotcrete fractures and spalling,and the monitoring results of the in-situ multipoint extensometer.Our proposed method can offer a more accurate rock fracture location and facilitate the delineation of damage zones inside the surrounding rock mass.Ruochen Jiang Feng Dai Yi Liu Ang Li 2021Engineering2021,7,7:10
11Vision navigation for aircrafts based on 3D reconstruction from real-time image sequences显示文摘In this paper,we propose a novel vision navigation method based on three-dimensional(3D)reconstruction from real-time image sequences.It adapts 3D reconstruction and terrain matching to establish the correspondence between image points and3D space points and the terrain reference(by using a digital elevation map(DEM)).An adaptive weighted orthogonal iterative pose estimation method is employed to calculate the position and attitude angle of the aircraft.Synthesized and real experiments show that the proposed method is capable of providing accurate navigation parameters for a long-endurance flight without using a global positioning system or an inertial navigation system(INS).Moreover,it can be combined with an INS to achieve an improved navigation result.ZHU ZunShang SU Ang LIU HaiBo SHANG Yang YU QiFeng 2015Science China(Technological Sciences)2015,58,7:8
12Oxidation Modification of Polyacrylonitrile-Based Carbon Fiber and Its Electro-Chemical Performance as Marine Electrode for Electric Field Test显示文摘A novel sensor for ocean electric field testing has been fabricated by polyacrylonitrile-based on carbon fibers with electro-chemical oxidation.The surface profile characteristics of the carbon fibers were characterized by scanning electron microscope,Fourier transform infrared spectra and contact angle.Cyclic voltammetry and Tafel curves have been used to study its electro-chemical performances.Two identical electrodes in sea water as the electric field sensor will swiftly respond to applied electric field which causes positive and negative ions to move in opposite direction,resulting in a electric potential difference(ΔE).Test result indicates that the offset potential is typically below 1 m V with a drift of 60-170μVd^-1.Typical self noise level is 1.07 nV√Hz^(1/2)@1 Hz.The electric field response indicates that the modified electrode pair shows better response to AC sine signal of amplitude and frequency(5 mV and 1 mHz)respectively than its blank.The electric field response model of the modified electrodes is creatively presented according to its electric double layer capacitance and Faraday pseudo-capacitance.Many advantages of the carbon fiber electric field electrode will make it have potential application prospect.ZAI Xuerong LIU Ang TIAN Yuhua CHAI Fanggang FU Yubin 2020Journal of Ocean University of China2020,19,2:7
13Progresses in Sustainable Recycling Technology of Spent Lithium-Ion Batteries显示文摘The number of lithium-ion batteries(LIBs)is steadily increasing in order to meet the ever-growing demand for sustainable energy and a high quality of life for humankind.At the same time,the resulting large number of LIB waste certainly poses safety hazards if it is not properly disposed of and will seriously harm the environment due to its inherent toxicity due to the use of toxic substances.Moreover,the consumption of many scarce precious metal resources is behind the mass production of batteries.In the light of severe environmental,resources,safety and recycling problems,recycling spent LIBs have become an essential urgently needed action to achieve sustainable social development.This review therefore critically analyses the value and the need for recycling of spent LIBs from a variety of resources and the environment.A range of existing technologies for recycling and reusing spent LIBs,such as pretreatment,pyrometallurgy,hydrometallurgy,and direct recycled methods,is subsequently summarized exclusively.In addition,the benefits and problems of the methods described above are analyzed in detail.It also introduces recycling progress of other LIB components,such as anodes,separators,and electrolytes,as well as the high-value cathode.Finally,the prospects for recycling LIBs are addressed in four ways(government,users,battery manufacturers,and recyclers).This review should contribute to the development of the recycling of used LIBs,particularly in support of industrialization and recycling processes.Kaidi Du Edison Huixiang Ang Xinglong Wu Yichun Liu 2022Energy & Environmental Materials2022,5,4:7
14Molecular characterization and expression analysis of Triticum aestivum squamosa-promoter binding protein-box genes involved in ear development显示文摘Wheat(Triticum aestivum L.) is one of the most important crops in the world. Squamosa-promoter binding protein(SBP)-box genes play a critical role in regulating flower and fruit development. In this study, 10 novel SBP-box genes(TaSPL genes) were isolated from wheat((Triticum aestivum L.) cultivar Yanzhan 4110). Phylogenetic analysis classified the TaSPL genes into five groups(G1–G5). The motif combinations and expression patterns of the TaSPL genes varied among the five groups with each having own distinctive characteristics: TaSPL20/21 in G1 and TaSPL17 in G2 mainly expressed in the shoot apical meristem and the young ear, and their expression levels responded to development of the ear; TaSPL6/15 belonging to G3 were upregulated and TaSPL1/23 in G4 were downregulated during grain development; the gene in G5(TaSPL3) expressed constitutively. Thus, the consistency of the phylogenetic analysis, motif compositions, and expression patterns of the TaSPL genes revealed specific gene structures and functions.On the other hand, the diverse gene structures and different expression patterns suggested that wheat SBP-box genes have a wide range of functions. 15Double perovskite oxides Sr_2Mg_(1-x)Fe_xMoO(6-δ) for catalytic oxidation of methane显示文摘The double perovskite oxides Sr2Mg1-xF exMoO6-δ were investigated as catalysts for the methane oxidation.The structural properties of catalysts were characterized in detail by X-ray diffraction,X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and X-ray absorption spectroscopy.The catalytic property was strongly influenced by the Fe substitution.The relation between catalytic performance and the degree of Fe substitution was examined with regard to the structure and surface characteristics of the mixed oxides.The Fe-containing catalysts exhibited higher activity attributable to the possible(Fe2+,Mo6+) and (Fe3+,Mo5+)valency pairs,and the highest activity was observed for Sr2Mg0.2Fe0.8MoO6-δ.The enhancement of the catalytic activity may be correlated with the Fe-relating surface lattice oxygen species and was discussed in view of the presence of oxygen vacancies.Chen Li Wendong W ang Congying Xu Yuanxu Liu BO He Chusheng Chen 2011Journal of Natural Gas Chemistry2011,20,4:6
16Variation of temporal and spatial patterns of NO_2 in Beijing using OMI and mobile DOAS显示文摘Control policies such as 'odd-and-even license plate rule' were implemented by the Chinese government to restrict traffic and suspend factory production in Beijing and neighboring cities during the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit. We use ozone monitoring instrument(OMI), mobile differential optical absorption spectroscopy(DOAS), and multi-axis differential optical absorption spectroscopy(MAX-DOAS) to measure the variation of the spatial and temporal patterns of NO2 column densities from October 24, 2014 to November 22, 2014. It is found that the NO2 column densities during the episode of control policies are significantly lower than those during other periods, and the emission flux of NO2 calculated by mobile DOAS is also lower than the results from other periods. Some daily low NO2 column densities occur with the northwest wind direction. We then compare the relationship between OMI and mobile DOAS NO2 column density observations, and the results of mobile DOAS are approximately 2.7 times larger than the OMI values. The largest discrepancy occurs in the northern part of Beijing city. In other parts, the two instruments have a better correlation coefficient(R2) of 0.61. 18Mechanical criterion for coal and gas outburst:a perspective from multiphysics coupling显示文摘Although a series of hypotheses have been proposed,the mechanism underlying coal and gas outburst remains unclear.Given the low-index outbursts encountered in mining practice,we attempt to explore this mechanism using a multiphysics coupling model considering the effects of coal strength and gas mass transfer on failure.Based on force analysis of coal ahead of the heading face,a risk identification index C_(m)and a critical criterion(C_(m)≥1)of coal instability are proposed.According to this criterion,the driving force of an outburst consists of stress and gas pressure gradients along the heading direction of the roadway,whereas resistance depends on the shear and tensile strengths of the coal.The results show that outburst risk decreases slightly,followed by a rapid increase,with increasing vertical stress,whereas it decreases with increasing coal strength and increases with gas pressure monotonically.Using the response surface method,a coupled multi-factor model for the risk identification index is developed.The results indicate strong interactions among the controlling factors.Moreover,the critical values of the factors corresponding to outburst change depending on the environment of the coal seams,rather than being constants.As the buried depth of a coal seam increases,the critical values of gas pressure and coal strength decrease slightly,followed by a rapid increase.According to its controlling factors,outburst can be divided into stress-dominated,coal-strength-dominated,gas-pressure-dominated,and multi-factor compound types.Based on this classification,a classified control method is proposed to enable more targeted outburst prevention.Ting Liu Baiquan Lin Xuehai Fu Ang Liu 2021International Journal of Coal Science & Technology2021,8,6:5
19Study of Failure Diagnostic Methods and Intelligent Diagnostic System for Reciprocating Compressors显示文摘Three categories of failure diagnostic methods for reciprocating compressors are classified according to the signals adopted by the diagnosis. They are parameter method, vibration method, and oil analysis method. In this paper, the applicable range and operational difficulties of these methods are discussed on the basis of analysis and induction upon normal failure. It is proposed that a compressor’s normal failure can be divided into thermodynamical property failure and mechanical function failure. As to the former, the parameter method that takes a cylinder pressure signal as the main diagnostic signal may be applied; and as to the latter, the vibration signal frequency spectrum can be used to diagnose. 20Cell cycle-related kinase reprograms the liver immune microenvironment to promote cancer metastasis显示文摘The liver is an immunologically tolerant organ and a common metastatic site of multiple cancer types.Although a role for cancer cell invasion programs has been well characterized,whether and how liver-intrinsic factors drive metastatic spread is incompletely understood.Here,we show that aberrantly activated hepatocyte-intrinsic cell cycle-related kinase(CCRK)signaling in chronic liver diseases is critical for cancer metastasis by reprogramming an immunosuppressive microenvironment.Using an inducible liverspecific transgenic model,we found that CCRK overexpression dramatically increased both B16F10 melanoma and MC38 colorectal cancer(CRC)metastasis to the liver,which was highly infiltrated by polymorphonuclear-myeloid-derived suppressor cells(PMNMDSCs)and lacking natural killer T(NKT)cells.Depletion of PMN-MDSCs in CCRK transgenic mice restored NKT cell levels and their interferon gamma production and reduced liver metastasis to 2.7% and 0.7%(metastatic tumor weights)in the melanoma and CRC models,respectively.Mechanistically,CCRK activated nuclear factor-kappa B(NF-κB)signaling to increase the PMN-MDSC trafficking chemokine C-X-C motif ligand 1(CXCL1),which was positively correlated with liver-infiltrating PMN-MDSC levels in CCRK transgenic mice.Accordingly,CRC liver metastasis patients exhibited hyperaaivation of hepatic CCRK/NF-κB/CXCL1 signaling,which was associated with accumulation of PMN-MDSCs and paucity of NKT cells compared to healthy liver transplantation donors.In summary,this study demonstrates that immunosuppressive reprogramming by hepatic CCRK signaling undermines antimetastatic immunosurveillance.Our findings offer new mechanistic insights and therapeutic targets for liver metastasis intervention.Xuezhen Zeng Jingying Zhou Zhewen Xiong Hanyong Sun Weiqin Yang Myth T.S.Mok Jing Wang Jingqing Li Man Liu Wenshu Tang Yu Feng Hector Kwong-Sang W ang Shun-Wa Tsang King-Lau Chow Philip Chun Yeung John Wong Paul Bo-San Lai Anthony Wing-Hung Chan Ka Fai To Stephen Lam Chan Qiang Xia Jing Xue Xiao Chen Jun Yu Sui Peng Joseph Jao-Yiu Sung Ming Kuang Alfred Sze-Lok Cheng 2021Cellular & Molecular Immunology2021,18,4:5
