1Genetic diversity,population structure,and relationships in a collection of pepper(Capsicum spp.)landraces from the Spanish centre of diversity revealed by genotypingby-sequencing(GBS)显示文摘Pepper(Capsicum spp.)is one of the most important vegetable crops;however,pepper genomic studies lag behind those of other important Solanaceae.Here we present the results of a high-throughput genotyping-by-sequencing(GBS)study of a collection of 190 Capsicum spp.accessions,including 183 of five cultivated species(C.annuum,C.chinense,C.frutescens,C.baccatum,and C.pubescens)and seven of the wild form C.annuum var.glabriusculum.Sequencing generated 6,766,231 high-quality read tags,of which 40.7%were successfully aligned to the reference genome.SNP calling yielded 4083 highly informative segregating SNPs.Genetic diversity and relationships of a subset of 148 accessions,of which a complete passport information was available,was studied using principal components analysis(PCA),discriminant analysis of principal components(DAPC),and phylogeny approaches.C.annuum,C.baccatum,and C.chinense were successfully separated by all methods.Our population was divided into seven clusters by DAPC,where C.frutescens accessions were clustered together with C.chinense.C.annuum var.glabriusculum accessions were spread into two distinct genetic pools,while European accessions were admixed and closely related.Separation of accessions was mainly associated to differences in fruit characteristics and origin.Phylogeny studies showed a close relation between Spanish and Mexican accessions,supporting the hypothesis that the first arose from a main genetic flow from the latter.Tajima’s D statistic values were consistent with positive selection in the C.annuum clusters,possibly related to domestication or selection towards traits of interest.This work provides comprehensive and relevant information on the origin and relationships of Spanish landraces and for future association mapping studies in pepper.Leandro Pereira-Dias Santiago Vilanova Ana Fita Jaime Prohens Adrián Rodríguez-Burruezo 2019Horticulture Research2019,6,1:4
2Predictive clinical features of cardioembolic infarction in patients aged 85 years and older显示文摘Objective To assess predictive clinical factors of cardioembolic infarction in very old patients(85 years of age and older).Methods Prospective hospital-based stroke registry('The Sagrat Cor Hospital of Barcelona Stroke Registry')is an acute-care teaching hospital in Barcelona,Catalonia,Spain.From 956 first-ever cardioembolic stroke patients included in the stroke registry over a 24-year period,639 were younger than 85 years of age and 317 were 85 years or older(mean age:88.9 years).Demographics,clinical characteristics,risk factors and early outcome were compared.Predictors of cardioembolic infarction in the oldest age group were assessed by multivariate analyses.Results In a logistic regression model based on demographics,risk factors,clinical features and complications,female gender(odds ratio[OR]=1.74,95%confidence interval[CI]:1.27–2.39),heart failure(OR=2.27,95%CI:1.46–3.56),altered consciousness(OR=1.76,95%CI:1.28–2.42),and infectious complications(OR=2.01,95%CI:1.39–2.91)were predictors of cardioembolic stroke in the oldest age group.By contrast,heavy smoking,heart valve disease,hypertension,headache,early seizures,sensory deficit,and involvement of the posterior cerebral artery were independently associated with cardioembolic stroke in the younger group.Conclusions Identification of a differential clinical profile of cardioembolic stroke between patients aged 85 years or more and those younger than 85 years helps clinicians to the optimal management of ischemic infarction in the oldest segment of the population.Ana Maria Carbajo-García Jonatan Cortés AdriàArboix Joan Massons Laura Díez Enric Vergés Jordi Arboix-Alió Luís García-Eroles 2019Journal of Geriatric Cardiology2019,16,11:3

7Long-term open circuit microbial electrosynthesis system promotes methanogenesis显示文摘Microbial electrosynthesis(MES) can potentially provide a mean for storing renewable energy surpluses as chemical energy. However, the fluctuating nature of these energy sources may represent a threat to MES, as the microbial communities that develop on the biocathode rely on the continuous existence of a polarized electrode. This work assesses how MES performance, product generation and microbial community evolution are affected by a long-period(6 weeks) power off(open circuit). Acetogenic and H2-producing bacteria activity recovered after reconnection. However, few days later syntrophic acetate oxidation bacteria and H2-consuming methanogens became dominant, producing CH4 as the main product, via electromethanogenesis and the syntrophic interaction between eubacterial and archaeal communities which consume both the acetic acid and the hydrogen present in the cathode environment. Thus,the system proved to be resilient to a long-term power interruption in terms of electroactivity.
