1Adjustable Mechanism for Walking Robots with Minimum Number of Actuators显示文摘Recent literature on walking robots deals predominantly with multi-degrees-of-freedom leg mechanisms and machines capable of adopting several gaits.This paper explores the other end of the spectrum suggesting mechanisms derived from a four bar coupler curve for a one degree of freedom walking robot.Simulation of the walk indicates that body of the robot is able to move with low variation in velocity.The best strategy for changing the gait to enable the robot to walk over obstacles and the effect of change in length of different links are explored to open up the possibility of a two degree of freedom walking robot with the capability of changing its gait,suitable as a low cost unit for several applications.Such rugged units would permit the use of an IC engine as the primary source of power and could be of utility in installations where electronics may not be functional.In simple walking machines the foot of a leg is usually required to trace a D shaped curve with respect to the chassis.In this paper we begin with a Hoecken mechanism capable of tracing such a curve.The foot is required to move parallel to itself and the same could be achieved using a six or eight link mechanism.A few such devices have been synthesized in this paper and their motion properties compared.The study also covers the possibility of providing adjustments to vary the step length and height of the foot's movement.GUHA Anirban AMARNATH C 2011Chinese Journal of Mechanical Engineering2011,24,5:4
2Comparative study of the efficacy of gentamicin-coated intramedullary interlocking nail versus regular intramedullary interlocking nail in Gustilo type I and II open tibia fractures显示文摘Purpose:Open tibia fracture is prone to infection,consequently causing significant morbidity and increasing the hospital stay,occupational loss and onset of chronic osteomyelitis.Intramedullary nailing is one choice for treating tibia shaft fractures.To improve the delivery of antibiotics at the tissue-implant interface,many methods have been proposed as a part of prophylaxis against infection.This study was conducted to study the role of gentamicin-impregnated intramedullary interlocking(IMIL)nail in the prevention of infection in Gustilo typeⅠandⅡopen tibia fractures and to compare the results with regular intramedullary nail.Methods:The study included 28 patients with open tibia fractures(Gustilo type 1 or type 2);of them 14 underwent regular IMIL nailing and the other 14 were treated with gentamicin-coated nailing.Randomization was done by alternate allocation of the patients.Follow-up was done postoperatively(day 1),1 week,6 weeks,and 6 months for bone union,erythrocyte sedimentation rate(ESR),hemoglobin and C?reactive protein(CRP).Statistical significance was tested using unpaired t-test.A p value less than 0.05 was considered significant.Results:There were 4 cases of infection in controls(regular IMIL nail)and no infection among patients treated with gentamicin-coated nail during the follow up(Х^2=4.66,p=0.031).At 6 months postoperatively,CRP(p=0.031),ESR(p=0.046)and hemoglobin level(p=0.016)showed significant difference between two groups.The bone healing rate was better with gentamicin-coated nail in comparison to regular IMIL nail at 6 months follow-up(p=0.016).Conclusion:Gentamicin-coated IMIL nail has a positive role in preventing infection in Gustilo typeⅠandⅡopen tibia fractures.Deepak Pinto K.Manjunatha Amarnath D.Savur Naufal Rizwan Ahmed Sharan Mally V.Ramya 2019Chinese Journal of Traumatology2019,22,5:4
3Structure and floristic composition of tree stand in tropical forest in the Eastern Ghats of northern Andhra Pradesh, India显示文摘The changes in species composition, abundance and forest stand structure were analyzed across altitudinal regimes in tropical for- ests of Eastern Ghats of northern Andhra Pradesh, India. Three 1-ha plots were established with one each in low, medium and high altitudes. A total of 153 species, 2129 stems (709 stems ·ha -1 ) of ≥10 cm girth were enumerated. Species richness and diversity pattern varied along altitud- inal gradient and increased with the altitude. Species richness varied from 52 to 110 species·ha -1 and stand density from 639 to 836 stems·ha -1 with average basal area of 34.39 m 2 ·ha -1 . Shannon-Wiener index (H') ranged from 4.55 to 5.17. Low altitude (i.e., Site 1) is dominated by Xylia xylocarpa (59.22) and Lagerstroemia parviflora (23.90), medium altitude (i.e., Site 2) by Xylia xylocarpa (45.50) Bursera serrata (17.29), and high altitude (i.e., Site 3) has Schleichera oleosa (28.25) Pterocarpus marsu- pium (26.55) as predominant species. Taxonomically, Rubiaceae (12 species), Fabaceae (12), Euphorbiaceae (11), Rutaceae (7) and Lauraceae (7) were dominant families. Density-wise, Fabaceae, Combretaceae, Euphorbiaceae, Anacardiaceae and Myrtaceae were abundant. Thus, conservation assessment based on altitudinal regimes and the information on species structure and function can provide baseline information for monitoring and sustaining the biodiversity.C. 4Green synthesis and characterization of palladium nanoparticles and its conjugates from solanum trilobatum leaf extract显示文摘An important area of research in nanotechnology deals with the synthesis of nanoparticles of different chemical compositions,sizes and controlled monodispersity.Currently,there is a growing need to develop environmentally benign nanoparticle synthesis in which no toxic chemicals are used in the synthesis protocol.Palladium nanoparticles(Pd Np) are of interest because of their catalytic properties and affinity for hydrogen.Our protocol for the phyto-synthesis of Pd Np under moderate p H and room temperature offers a new means to develop environmentally benign nanoparticles.Solanum trilobatum is enlightened in our present study as it is enriched with phytochemicals to reduce palladium chloride ions.Poly MVA a dietary supplement based on the nontoxic chemotherapeutic lipoic acid-palladium complex(LA-Pd) is been hypothesized as the new paradigm of cancer therapy.Hence forth we successfully conjugated lipoic acid(S-Pd Np-LA) and vitamins(S-Pd Np-Vitamin-LA) to palladium nanoparticles synthesised from Solanum trilobatum leaf extract.These nanoparticles(S-Pd Np,S-Pd Np-LA,S-Pd Np-Vitamin-LA) were characterized with UV-Vis Spectroscopy,SEM and FTIR analysis,which revealed that S-Pd Np are polydisperse and of different morphologies ranging from 60?70 nm(S-Pd Np),65?80 nm(S-Pd Np-LA) and 75?100 nm(S-Pd Np-Vitamin-LA) in size.Amarnath Kanchana Saveetha Devarajan Senniyanallur Rathakrishnan Ayyappan 2010Nano-Micro Letters2010,2,3:4
