1TGF-β/BMP signaling and other molecular events: regulation of osteoblastogenesis and bone formation显示文摘Transforming growth factor-beta(TGF-β)/bone morphogenetic protein(BMP) plays a fundamental role in the regulation of bone organogenesis through the activation of receptor serine/threonine kinases. Perturbations of TGF-β/BMP activity are almost invariably linked to a wide variety of clinical outcomes, i.e., skeletal, extra skeletal anomalies, autoimmune, cancer, and cardiovascular diseases. Phosphorylation of TGF-β(I/II) or BMP receptors activates intracellular downstream Smads, the transducer of TGF-β/BMP signals. This signaling is modulated by various factors and pathways, including transcription factor Runx2. The signaling network in skeletal development and bone formation is overwhelmingly complex and highly time and space specific.Additive, positive, negative, or synergistic effects are observed when TGF-β/BMP interacts with the pathways of MAPK, Wnt, Hedgehog(Hh), Notch, Akt/m TOR, and mi RNA to regulate the effects of BMP-induced signaling in bone dynamics. Accumulating evidence indicates that Runx2 is the key integrator, whereas Hh is a possible modulator, mi RNAs are regulators, and b-catenin is a mediator/regulator within the extensive intracellular network. 2免耕条件下秸秆还田对冬小麦-夏玉米轮作系统土壤呼吸及土壤水热状况的影响显示文摘【目的】研究免耕条件下秸秆还田对旱地冬小麦-夏玉米轮作系统土壤呼吸及土壤水热状况的影响。【方法】2011年10月至2014年9月,在陕西杨凌设置秸秆全量还田+施肥(S1F1)、秸秆全量还田+不施肥(S1F0)、秸秆半量还田+施肥(S1/2F1)、秸秆半量还田+不施肥(S1/2F0)、秸秆不还田+施肥(S0F1)、秸秆不还田+不施肥(S0F0)6种不同耕作处理的3年定位试验,测定并分析不同耕作处理下土壤呼吸、土壤水热状况、作物产量、土壤耕作层有机碳含量的差异。【结果】在冬小麦生育期内,各处理土壤呼吸速率均呈先下降后升高再下降的趋势;在夏玉米生育期内,各处理土壤呼吸速率均表现为先升高后下降的趋势。同一生育期内各处理土壤呼吸平均速率及呼吸总量依次为S1F1>S1/2F1>S1/2F0>S0F1>S1F0>CK,同种作物不同生育期之间,各处理土壤生育期呼吸总量有逐年降低的趋势。整个研究周期内,土壤温度的变化趋势与每月平均气温的变化趋势相似,不同处理在同一生育期内的土壤温度变化趋势相近,且各处理生育期土壤平均温度均随土壤深度的增加而降低;不同秸秆还田处理冬季土壤温度均高于对照,但生育期土壤平均温度均低于对照。土壤含水量随土壤深度的增加而降低,但受降雨影响,不同轮作周期之间的土壤含水量波动较大,各处理同一生育期的土壤平均含水量均表现为S1F0>S1F1>S1/2F0>S1/2F1>CK>S0F1,且不同秸秆还田处理的土壤含水量与对照间的差异均显著(P<0.05);土壤温度能够解释土壤呼吸速率变化的32.5%—60.4%,土壤含水量能够解释土壤呼吸速率变化的38.4%—82.5%,不同土层深度间,5 cm土层的温度与土壤呼吸的拟合度性最高,而10—20 cm土层的含水量与土壤呼吸的拟合度最高。相同年份内,不同处理冬小麦和夏玉米产量均表现为S1F1>S1F0>S1/2F1>S0F1>S1/2F0>CK,这个研究周期内,冬小麦产量逐年增加,夏玉米在前两季表现为增产,但受极端炎热天气的影响,第三季的产量明显降低。单季作物收获后,各处理同一土层深度的有机碳含量均表现为S1F1>S1/2F1>S1F0>S1/2F0>S0F1>CK。且不同秸秆还田处理的土壤有机碳含量逐年升高。【结论】长期免耕秸秆还田能够有效降低农田土壤碳排放、提高农田土壤水分利用率及冬季土壤温度、提高作物产量及土壤有机碳含量。不同秸秆还田处理间以S1F0处理的效果最优。王维钰 乔博 Kashif AKHTAR 袁率 任广鑫 冯永忠 2016中国农业科学2016,49,11:47
3Biosorption characteristics of unicellular green alga Chlorella sorokiniana immobilized in loofa sponge for removal of Cr(Ⅲ)显示文摘Loofa sponge(LS)immobilized biomass of Chlorella sorokiniana(LSIBCS),isolated from industrial wastewater,was investigated as a new biosorbent for the removal of Cr(Ⅲ)from aqueous solution.A comparison of the biosorption of Cr(Ⅲ)by LSIBCS and free biomass of C.sorokiniana(FBCS)from 10-300 mg Cr(Ⅲ)/L aqueous solutions showed an increase in uptake of 17.79% when the rnicroalgal biomass was immobilized onto loofa sponge.Maximum biosorption capacity for LSIBCS and FBCS was found to be 69.26 and 58.80 mg Cr(Ⅲ)/g biosorbent,respectively,whereas the amount of Cr(Ⅲ)ions adsorbed onto naked LS was 4.97 mg/g.The kinetics of Cr(Ⅲ)biosorption was extremely rapid and equilibrium was established in about 15 and 20 min by LSIBCS and FBCS, respectively.The biosorption equilibrium was well defined by Langrnuir adsorption isotherm model.The biosorption kinetics followed the pseudo-second order kinetic model.The biosorption was found to be pH dependent and the maximum sorption occurred at the solution pH 4.0.Desorption studies showed that 98% of the adsorbed Cr(Ⅲ)could be desorbed with 0.1 mol/L HNO_3,while other desorbing agents were less effective in the order:EDTA>H_2SO_4>CH_3COOH>HCl.The regenerated LSIBCS retained 92.68% of the initial Cr(Ⅲ)binding capacity up to five cycles of reuse in continuous flow-fixed bed columns.The study revealed that LSIBCS could be used as an effective biosorbent for the removal of Cr(Ⅲ)from wastewater.AKHTAR Nasreen IQBAL Muhammad ZAFAR Saeed Iqbal IQBAL Javed 2008Journal of Environmental Sciences2008,20,2:20
4Influence of ellagic acid on prostate cancer cell proliferation:A caspase-dependent pathway显示文摘Objective:To evaluate the effect of allagic acid treatment on the cell viability of human prostate cancer cells.Methods:Ellagic acid(10-100 mol/L) treatment(48 h) of human prostate carcinoma PC3 cells was found to result in a dose-dependent inhibition of cell growth and apoptosis of PC3 cells as assessed by MTT assay,western blotting.flow cytometry and confocal microscopy.Results:We observed that ellagic acid treatment of PC3 cells resulted in a dose dependent inhibition of cell growth/cell viability.This ellagic acid caused cell growth inhibition was found to be accompanied by induction of apoptosis,as assessed by the cleavage of poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase(PARP) and morphological changes.Further,induction of apoptosis accompanied a decrease in the levels of antiapoptotic protein Bcl-2 and increase in proapoptotic protein Bax.thus shifting the Bax:Bcl-2 ratio in favor of apoptosis.Ellagic acid treatment of PC3 cells was also found to result in significant activation of caspases,as shown by the dose dependent decrease in the protein expression of procaspase-3,-6.-8 and -9.This ellagic acid-mediated induction of apoptosis was significantly(80%-90%) inhibited by the caspase inhibitor N-benzyloxycarbonyl-Val-Ala-Asp(OMe)-fluoromethylketone(Z-VAD-FMK).Thus these data suggested an essential role of caspases in ellagic acid-mediated apoptosis of PC3 cells.Conclusions:It is tempting to suggest that consumption of tropical pigmented fruits and vegetables could be an effective strategy to combat prostate cancer.Arshi Malik Sarah Afaq Mohammad Shahid Kafil Akhtar Abdullah Assiri 2011Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Medicine2011,4,7:18
5免耕条件下秸秆还田与施肥对小麦-玉米轮作系统土壤养分和酶活性的影响显示文摘为研究免耕条件下秸秆还田与施肥对小麦-玉米轮作系统土壤养分和酶活性的影响,于西北农林科技大学校内试验地进行试验,设3个秸秆还田水平:秸秆全量还田、秸秆半量还田、秸秆不还田,施肥和不施肥2个施肥水平,共6个处理,以秸秆不还田+不施肥作为对照,研究秸秆还田与施肥对小麦-玉米轮作系统一年内两季不同作物收获期0~40 cm土层土壤养分含量和土壤酶活性的影响。结果表明,冬小麦和夏玉米收获期土壤不论是0~20 cm还是20~40 cm土层,秸秆全量还田+施肥和秸秆半量还田+施肥处理相比秸秆不还田+不施肥均能增加土壤有机碳、碱解氮、速效磷和速效钾的含量,并且高于秸秆还田+不施肥处理;秸秆全量还田+施肥处理下的冬小麦土壤脲酶、碱性磷酸酶、过氧化氢酶和蔗糖酶的活性比秸秆不还田+不施肥处理的0~20 cm土层分别提高92.34%,87.91%,4.94%,62.41%;对于夏玉米而言,秸秆全量还田+施肥相比秸秆不还田+不施肥处理的0~20 cm土层提高了土壤脲酶、碱性磷酸酶、蔗糖酶和过氧化氢酶,分别提高了68.54%,49.11%,149.84%,10.38%。可见,土壤脲酶、碱性磷酸酶、过氧化氢酶和蔗糖酶在秸秆全量还田+施肥的处理下活性最高,并且土壤脲酶与全氮和碱解氮相关性最好,碱性磷酸酶与全氮、速效钾和速效磷的相关性比较好,过氧化氢酶与速效钾和速效磷的相关性比较好,蔗糖酶与有机碳的相关性比较好,且均呈正相关。以上结果表明,秸秆还田配施化肥可以提高土壤质量。刘兰清 杨晨璐 王维钰 孔德杰 KASHIF Akhtar 任广鑫 冯永忠 杨改河 2017华北农学报2017,32,6:17
6Antibiotic resistance and cagA gene correlation:A looming crisis of Helicobacter pylori显示文摘AIM:To determine antibiotic resistance of Helicobacter pylori(H.pylori) in Pakistan and its correlation with host and pathogen associated factors.METHODS:A total of 178 strains of H.pylori were isolated from gastric biopsies of dyspeptic patients.Susceptibility patterns against first and second-line antibiotics were determined and trends of resistance were analyzed in relation to the sampling period,gastric conditions and cagA gene carriage.The effect of cagA gene on the acquisition of resistance was investigated by mutant selection assay.RESULTS:The observations showed that monoresistant strains were prevalent with rates of 89% for metronidazole,36% for clarithromycin,37% for amoxicillin,18.5% for ofloxacin and 12% for tetracycline.Furthermore,clarithromycin resistance was on the rise from 2005 to 2008(32% vs 38%,P = 0.004) and it is significantly observed in non ulcerative dyspeptic patients compared to gastritis,gastric ulcer and duodenal ulcer cases(53% vs 20%,18% and 19%,P = 0.000).On the contrary,metronidazole and ofloxacin resistance were more common in gastritis and gastric ulcer cases.Distribution analysis and frequencies of resistant mutants in vitro correlated with the absence of cagA gene with metronidazole and ofloxacin resistance.CONCLUSION:The study confirms the alarming levels of antibiotic resistance associated with the degree of gastric inflammation and cagA gene carriage in H.pylori strains.Adnan Khan Amber Farooqui Hamid Manzoor Syed Shakeel Akhtar Muhammad Saeed Quraishy Shahana Urooj Kazmi 2012World Journal of Gastroenterology2012,18,18:15
7Prediction of air flow, methane, and coal dust dispersion in a room and pillar mining face显示文摘In underground coal mines, uncontrolled accumulation of methane and fine coal dust often leads to serious incidents such as explosion. Therefore, methane and dust dispersion in underground mines is closely monitored and strictly regulated. Accordingly, significant efforts have been devoted to study methane and dust dispersion in underground mines. In this study, methane emission and dust concentration are numerically investigated using a computational fluid dynamics(CFD) approach. Various possible scenarios of underground mine configurations are evaluated. The results indicate that the presence of continuous miner adversely affects the air flow and leads to increased methane and dust concentrations.Nevertheless, it is found that such negative effect can be minimized or even neutralized by operating the scrubber fan in suction mode. In addition, it was found that the combination of scrubber fan in suction mode and brattice results in the best performance in terms of methane and dust removal from the mining face.Lu Yueze Akhtar Saad Sasmito Agus P. 9Role of ZnO-CeO_2 Nanostructures as a Photo-catalyst and Chemi-sensor显示文摘ZnO-CeO2 nanostructures were synthesized by simple and effcient low temperature method. The structure and morphology of the ZnO-CeO2 nanostructures were characterized by X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) and field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), which revealed elongated shaped CeO2 nanoparticles with diameters of 40-90 nm distributed on the surface of elongated ZnO nanostructures with diameters of 50-200 nm (edge-centre). Further the structure of the synthesized ZnO-CeO2 nanostructure was supported by Raman spectra and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). UV-vis absorption spectrum was used to confirm the optical properties of the CeO2 doped ZnO nanostructures. Photo-catalytic activity of CeO2 doped ZnO nanostructure was evaluated by degradation of acridine orange and methylene blue which degraded 84.55% and 48.65% in 170 min, respectively. ZnO-CeO2 nanostructures also showed good sensitivity (0.8331 μA·cm-2·(mol/l)-1) in short response time (10 s) by applying to chemical sensing using ethanol as a target compound by I-V technique. These degradation and chemical sensing properties of ZnO-CeO2 nanostructures are of great importance for the application of ZnO-CeO2 system as a photo-catalyst and chemical sensor.M. 10An autoregressive integrated moving average model for short-term prediction of hepatitis C virus seropositivity among male volunteer blood donors in Karachi,Pakistan显示文摘AIM:To identify the stochastic autoregressive integrated moving average(ARIMA)model for short term forecasting of hepatitis C virus(HCV)seropositivity among volunteer blood donors in Karachi,Pakistan.METHODS:Ninety-six months(1998-2005)data on HCV seropositive cases(1000 -1 ×month -1)among male volunteer blood donors tested at four major blood banks in Karachi,Pakistan were subjected to ARIMA modeling.Subsequently,a fitted ARIMA model was used to forecast HCV seropositive donors for 91-96 mo to contrast with observed series of the same months.To assess the forecast accuracy,the mean absolute error rate(%)between the observed and predicted HCV seroprevalence was calculated.Finally,a fitted ARIMA model was used for short-term forecasts beyond the observed series.RESULTS:The goodness-of-fit test of the optimum A R I M A(2,1,7)model showed non-significant autocorrelations in the residuals of the model.The forecasts by ARIMA for 91-96 mo closely followed the pattern of observed series for the same months,with mean monthly absolute forecast errors(%)over 6 mo of 6.5%.The short-term forecasts beyond the observed series adequately captured the pattern in the data and showed increasing tendency of HCV seropositivity with a mean±SD HCV seroprevalence(1000-1×month-1) of 24.3±1.4 over the forecast interval.CONCLUSION:To curtail HCV spread,public health authorities need to educate communities and health care providers about HCV transmission routes based on known HCV epidemiology in Pakistan and its neighboring countries.Future research may focus on factors associated with hyperendemic levels of HCV infection.Saeed Akhtar Shafquat Rozi 2009World Journal of Gastroenterology2009,15,13:9

14Therapeutic Efficacy of Neurostimulation for Depression:Techniques, Current Modalities, and Future Challenges显示文摘Depression is the most prevalent debilitating mental illness; it is characterized as a disorder of mood,cognitive function, and neurovegetative function. About one in ten individuals experience depression at some stage of their lives. Antidepressant drugs are used to reduce the symptoms but relapse occurs in *20% of patients. However,alternate therapies like brain stimulation techniques have shown promising results in this regard. 15中原经济区城市发展效率及其时空分异特征研究显示文摘中原经济区是实施区域协调发展国家战略的重要组成部分,基于5省30个地级市的面板数据,构建考虑非期望产出的SBM-DEA超效率模型,测算了中原经济区城市发展效率,探讨了中原经济区城市发展效率的Malmquist-Luenberger指数及其分解特征,研究了总体空间分异状态。结果表明:各个城市发展效率存在明显的异质性,Malmquist-Luenberger指数及其分解值整体不高,发展方式仍未发生根本性转变,资源环境压力过大。中原经济区城市发展效率只在个别年份显现非常弱的集聚分布空间格局,郑州和洛阳等中心城市功能不强,难以通过“涓滴效应”成为带动中原经济区发展的动力源。马歆 郑潇潇 Raheel Akhtar Kathia 梁松 2020生态经济2020,36,5:7
16中原经济区耕地压力时空演变及驱动因素研究显示文摘[目的]严守耕地红线、合理利用和保护耕地资源,保障国家粮食安全。[方法]文章采用最小人均耕地面积和耕地压力指数模型,分析了2007—2016年中原经济区耕地压力时序变化特征,引入重心转移模型和变异系数,探究耕地压力重心的空间分布及迁移特征,并基于粮食生产因素和社会经济因素双重视角,选取10个指标运用灰色关联分析法对影响中原经济区耕地压力变化的驱动因素进行研究。[结果]2007—2016年中原经济区耕地压力指数呈现阶段性特征,总体处于波动递减的趋势,各地级市耕地压力离散程度和空间差异不断拉大,空间分布不均衡,东西分化趋势显著;耕地压力重心从西北向东南方向迁移,在郑州市区域移动;选取的影响因素指标对耕地压力变化均有影响,关联度大小依次为人均GDP>城市化水平>农民收入>产业结构>化肥投入>灌溉水平>复种指数>粮食单产量>耕地质量>人均耕地面积。[结论]社会经济因素对耕地压力影响显著,是影响耕地压力变动的主导因素。马歆 郑潇潇 王韵 Raheel Akhtar Kathia 2021中国农业资源与区划2021,42,3:7
17Studies on the management of root-knot nematode, Meloidogyne incognita-wilt fungus, Fusarium oxysporum disease complex of green gram, Vigna radiata cv ML-1108显示文摘Studies were conducted under pot conditions to determine the comparative efficacy of carbofuran at 1 mg a.i./kg soil, bavistin at 1 mg a.i./kg soil, neem (Azadirachta indica) seed powder at 50 mg/kg soil, green mould (Trichoderma harzianum) at 50.0 ml/kg soil, rhizobacteria (Pseudomonas fluorescens) at 50.0 ml/kg soil against root-knot nematode, Meloidogyne incog-nita–wilt fungus, Fusarium oxysporum disease complex on green gram, Vigna radiata cv ML-1108. All the treatments significantly improved the growth of the plants as compared to untreated inoculated plants. Analysis of data showed that carbofuran and A. indica seed powder increased plant growth and yield significantly more in comparison to bavistin and P. fluorescens. 18Systematic study of Ce^(3+) on the structural and magnetic properties of Cu nanosized ferrites for potential applications显示文摘Ce^(3+) substituted Cu-spinel nanoferrites CuCe_xFe_(2-x)O_4(x=0.00, 0.02, 0.04, 0.06, 0.08 and 0.10) were synthesized via sol-gel self-combustion hybrid route. Single phase spinel ferrite of Cu nanoferrites were examined using X-ray diffraction(XRD) analysis whereas the multiphase structure was observed as Ce contents increased from x=0.06. Field emission scanning electron microscopy(FESEM), Thermogravimetric and differential thermal analysis(TGA and DTA) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR) were used to find out the morphology phase and metal stretching vibrations of Ce^(3+) substituted nanocrystalline ferrites. The crystallite size was increased and found in the range of 25-91 nm. The agglomerations in Cu ferrite samples increase as the Ce^(3+) concentration increases. The magnetic properties such as remanence, saturation magnetization, coercivity, Bohr magneton and magnetocrystalline anisotropy constant(K) were determined using M-H loops recorded from a vibrating sample magnetometer(VSM). Saturation magnetization, remanence and coercivity are increased as the Ce^(3+)contents increase in Cu nanocrystalline samples. Moreover, law of approach to saturation(LoA) was used to calculate the maximum value of saturation for Ce-doped Cu nanoferrites. The soft magnetic behaviour of the Cu nanoferrite is observed as compared to the samples substituted with the increased Ce contents in Cu nanocrystalline ferrite. Bohr magneton and magnetocrystalline anisotropy are found to increase with the substitution of rare earth Ce^(3+) contents in Cu spinel nanocrystalline ferrite. 19Rare earth element geochemistry of Post-to Neo-archean shales from Singhbhum mobile belt, Eastern India: implications for tectonic setting and paleo-oxidation conditions显示文摘In the present study, trace element(including rare earth element) chemical data has been interpreted with the aim to decipher the tectonic setting and paleo-redox conditions of the Post- to Neo-archean shales from the Singhbhum Mobile Belt, eastern India. The data show moderate enrichment of compatible elements [such as Cu(avg. 59.28 ppm), Ni(avg. 59.49 ppm), V(avg.234.24 ppm) and Cr(avg. 181.23 ppm)] relative to the Post-Archean Australian Shale. Their chondrite normalized light rare earth elements are moderately fractionated [(La/Sm)Nranges from 2.21 to 5.78], whereas heavy rare earth elements show a nearly flat pattern [(Gd/Lu)Nranges from0.74 to 1.68]; this indicates that the rare earth element(REE) concentrations, rather than being severely affected by the diagenesis and weathering processes, decreased gradually from Gd to Lu. The Post-Archean Australian Shale normalized multi-element diagram shows the slight enrichment of Cr, V, Zr, Y, U and Sc, whereas Sr, Pb, Hf and Th are depleted. The notable negative anomaly of Sr indicates the least accumulation of plagioclase, which is also supported by the negative Eu-anomaly in these rocks.The La–Th–Sc and Th–Zr–Sc tectonic setting diagrams indicate their continental arc setting.
