2Evaluation of protective effect of cactus pear seed oil(Opuntia ficusincida L. MILL.) against alloxan-induced diabetes in mice显示文摘Objective: To evaluate the in vitro antioxidant power of cactus pear seed oil [Opuntia ficusincida L. MILL.(CPSO)] and its protective effect against chemically induced diabetes mellitus in mice. Methods: The in vitro antioxidant effect of CPSO was evaluated using 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl(DPPH) scavenging assay. The preventive effect was conducted on Swiss albino mice treated with CPSO(2 m L/kg, per os), before and after a single intraperitoneal alloxan administration(100 mg/kg). Survival rate, body weight and fasting blood glucose were measured and histopathological analysis of pancreas was performed to evaluate alloxaninduced tissue injuries. Results: CPSO exhibited an antioxidant effect in DPPH scavenging assay. Moreover, the administration of CPSO(2 m L/kg) significantly attenuated alloxaninduced death and hyperglycemia(P<0.001) in treated mice. Morphometric study of pancreas revealed that CPSO significantly protected islets of langerhans against alloxan induced-tissue alterations. 3Performance of beacon safety message dissemination in Vehicular Ad hoc NETworks (VANETs)显示文摘Currently, there is a growing belief that putting an IEEE 802.11-like radio into road vehicles can help the drivers to travel more safely. Message dissemination protocols are primordial for safety vehicular applications. There are two types of safety messages which may be exchanged between vehicles: alarm and beacon. In this paper we investigate the feasibility of deploying safety applications based on beacon message dissemination through extensive simulation study and pay special attention to the safety requirements. Vehicles are supposed to issue these messages periodically to announce to other vehicles their current situation and use received messages for preventing possible unsafe situations. We evaluate the performance of a single-hop dissemination protocol while taking into account the quality of service (QoS) metrics like delivery rate and delay. We realize that reliability is the main concern in beacon message dissemination. Thus, a new metric named effective range is defined which gives us more accurate facility for evaluating QoS in safety applications specifically. Then, in order to improve the performance, the effects of three parameters including vehicle's transmission range, message transmission's interval time and message payload size are studied. Due to special characteristics of the safety applications, we model the relationship between communication-level QoS and application-level QoS and evaluate them for different classes of safety applications. 5Analysis of MIF,FCGR2A and FCGR3A gene polymorphisms with susceptibility to pulmonary tuberculosis in Moroccan population显示文摘In order to investigate the influence of functional polymorphisms of macrophage migration inhibitory factor(MIF),Fcg receptors CD16A(FCGR3A) and CD32A(FCGR2A) genes on susceptibility to pulmonary tuberculosis(PTB) in the Moroccan population,we analyzed 123 patients with PTB and 154 healthy controls.The genotyping for MIF-173(G/C)(rs755622),FCGR2A-131H/R(rs1801274) and FCGR3A-158V/F(rs396991) was carried out using TaqMan SNP Genotyping Assay method.We found a statistically significant increase of the MIF-173CC homozygote genotype and MIF-173C allele frequencies in PTB patients compared with healthy controls(17.07% versus 5.84%,P=0.003;and 35.37% versus 26.30%,P=0.02;respectively).In contrast,no association was observed between FCGR2A-131H/R and FCGR3A-158V/F polymorphisms and tuberculosis disease.Our finding suggests that MIF-173C variant may play an important role in the development of active tuberculosis.Khalid Sadki Hoda Lamsyah Blanca Rueda ELmahfoud Akil Abderrahim Sadak Javier Martin Rajae El Aouad 2010Journal of Genetics and Genomics2010,37,4:2
6A novel modeling approach for vertical handover based on dynamic k-partite graph in heterogeneous networks显示文摘The future network world will be embedded with different generations of wireless technologies,such as 3G,4G and 5G.At the same time,the development of new devices equipped with multiple interfaces is growing rapidly in recent years.As a consequence,the vertical handover protocol is developed in order to provide ubiquitous connectivity in the heterogeneous wireless environment.Indeed,by using this protocol,the users have opportunities to be connected to the Internet through a variety of wireless technologies at any time and anywhere.The main challenge of this protocol is how to select the best access network in terms of Quality of Service(QoS)for users.For that,many algorithms have been proposed and developed to deal with the issue in recent studies.However,all existing algorithms permit only the selection of one access network from the available networks during the vertical handover process.To cope with this problem,in this paper we propose a new approach based on k-partite graph.Firstly,we introduce k-partite graph theory to model the vertical handover problem.Secondly,the selection of the best path is performed by a robust and lightweight mechanism based on cost function and Dijkstra’s algorithm.The experimental results show that the proposed approach can achieve better performance of QoS than the existing algorithms for FTP traffic and video streaming.Mohamed Lahby Ayoub Essouiri Abderrahim Sekkaki 2019Digital Communications and Networks2019,5,4:2
