| 1 | Burden of care in caregivers of patients with alcohol use disorder and schizophrenia and its association with anxiety, depression and quality of life显示文摘Background Caregivers play a pivotal role in providing care for mentally ill patients.Increase in caregiver burden can make them vulnerable to mental illness themselves.Aims We assessed the severity of burden of care and its association with depression,anxiety and quality of life among caregivers of patients with alcohol use disorder(AUD)and schizophrenia.Methods This was an observational,cross-sectional,single-centred study of 50 consecutive caregivers of patients with AUD and schizophrenia.Participants were recruited from the psychiatry outpatient department of a tertiary care hospital between January and June 2017.The caregivers were further assessed by demographic details,Hospital Anxiety Depression Scale for assessment of depression and anxiety,Zarit Burden Interview for assessment of caregiver burden and WHO Quality Of Life-BREF for assessment of quality of life.Statistical data were analysed using GraphPad InStat V.3.06(California).Multiple linear regression analysis was applied to identify the predictors of caregiver burden.Results Burden of care experienced by caregivers of patients with AUD is as high as that of caregivers of patients with schizophrenia(U=1142.5,p=0.46).Caregivers experiencing high burden of care are likely to have symptoms of anxiety(U=22,p<0.001),depression(U=32,p<0.001)and poor quality of life(U=84.5,p<0.001).Female caregivers are likely to experience higher burden of care(U=819.5,p=0.006).For caregivers of patients with schizophrenia,anxiety,environmental health,socioeconomic status and patients,occupation can predict burden of care,while for caregivers of patients with AUD,depression and environmental health can predict burden of care.Conclusion Our study suggests that caregivers of patients with AUD experience burden of care as high as that of caregivers of patients with schizophrenia.Caregivers with high burden of care are more likely to have depression,anxiety and poor quality of life.Trial registration number CTRI/2017/03/008224. | Sneha Vadher Rishi Desai Bharat Pancha Ashok Vala Imran Jahangirali Ratnani Mihir P Rupani Kinjal Vasava | 2020 | General Psychiatry2020，33，4： | 7 |

| 3 | Seasonal variations of phytoplankton diversity in the Coleroon coastal waters,southeast coast of India显示文摘The results of an investigation carried out during June 2005 to May 2007 on physico-chemical parameters,species composition and community structure of phytoplankton including Chlorophyll a(Chl-a) at the Coleroon coastal waters(Southeast coast of India) are reported.Air and surface water temperatures(°C) varied from 25.1 to 30.1 and from 24.5 to 28.5 respectively.Salinity values varied from 6 to 28.5 and the pH ranged between 7.0 and 8.3.Variation in dissolved oxygen content was from 3.1 to 7.5 mg/dm-3 while the light extinction coefficient values(LEC) ranged between 3.1 and 10.1 cm.The ranges of inorganic nutrients(μmol/dm-3) viz.,nitrate,nitrite,phosphate and silicate were 10.1-23.4,1.2-8.9,0.2-3.1 and 55-125,respectively.The ranges of Chlorophyll a(μg/dm-3) values was 2.0-7.5.Presently,124 phytoplankton species representing different classes viz:Bacillariophyceae(77),Dinophyceae(19),Cyanophyceae(15),Chlorophyceae(10) and Chrysophyceae(3) were recorded.The phytoplankton cell abundance varied from 0.290 to 111.662 cells/cm-3,with peak diversity(3.38 bits/ind.) during summer season.The maximum abundance was found during summer season coinciding with the stable hydrographical conditions.The seasonal distribution and abundance of phytoplankton are discussed in relation to hydrographical parameters.Canonical Correspondence Analysis(CCA) was applied in this paper for discriminating environmental factors having effect on phytoplankton community at species level.Coleroon coastal water is subjected to long term fluctuations in physico-chemical parameters depending upon the seasonal tidal amplitude and freshwater influx resulting in a continuous exchange of organic,inorganic,plant and animal matters. | Thillai Rajasekar K Rajkumar M SUN Jun Ashok Prabu V Perumal P | 2010 | Acta Oceanologica Sinica2010，29，5： | 3 |
| 4 | Omentum facilitates liver regeneration显示文摘AIM:To investigate the mechanism of liver regeneration induced by fusing the omentum to a small traumatic injury created in the liver. We studied three groups of rats. In one group the rats were omentectomized; in another group the omentum was left in situ and was not activated,and in the third group the omentum was activated by polydextran particles. METHODS:We pre-activated the omentum by injecting polydextran particles and then made a small wedge wound in the rat liver to allow the omentum to fuse to the wound. We monitored the regeneration of the liver by determining the ratio of liver weight/body weight,by histological evaluation (including immune staining for cytokeratin-19,an oval cell marker),and by testing for developmental gene activation using reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR). RESULTS:There was no liver regeneration in the omentectomized rats,nor was there significant regeneration when the omentum was not activated,even though in this instance the omentum had fusedwith the liver. In contrast,the liver in the rats with the activated omentum expanded to a size 50% greater than the original,and there was histologically an interlying tissue between the wounded liver and the activated omentum in which bile ducts,containing cytokeratin-19 positive oval cells,extended from the wound edge. In this interlying tissue,oval cells were abundant and appeared to proliferate to form new liver tissue. In rats pre-treated with drugs that inhibited hepatocyte growth,liver proliferation was ongoing,indicating that regeneration of the liver was the result of oval cell expansion.
