| 1 | Reactive Oxygen Species during Plant-microorganism Early Interactions显示文摘Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS) are continuously produced as a result of aerobic metabolism or in response to biotic and abiotic stresses. ROS are not only toxic by-products of aerobic metabolism, but are also signalling molecules involved in several developmental processes in all organisms. Previous studies have clearly shown that an oxidative burst often takes place at the site of attempted invasion during the early stages of most plant-pathogen interactions. Moreover, a second ROS production can be observed during certain types of plant-pathogen interactions, which triggers hypersensitive cell death (HR). This second ROS wave seems absent during symbiotic interactions. This difference between these two responses is thought to play an important signalling role leading to the establishment of plant defense. In order to cope with the deleterious effects of ROS, plants are fitted with a large panel of enzymatic and non-enzymatic antioxidant mechanisms. Thus,increasing numbers of publications report the characterisation of ROS producing and scavenging systems from plants and from microorganisms during interactions. | 3 | Spontaneous retroperitoneal hemorrhage after hemodialysis involving anticoagulant agents显示文摘In this paper, we described the symptoms and treatment of a patient with diabetic nephropathy accom- panied by spontaneous retroperitoneal hemorrhage after hemodialysis. An elderly female patient with diabetic neph- ropathy presented with severe pain, numbness, and an increasing swelling in the left hip and left thigh after six ses- sions of hemodialysis involving the use of an antiplatelet drug and an anticoagulant agent. Her hemoglobin decreased to 46 g/L. An abdominal ultrasound showed a hematoma in the left retroperitoneal space, and computed tomography (CT) findings revealed a 6 cm×8 cm×10 cm hematoma in the left psoas muscle. After aggressive supportive therapy [the administration of packed red blood cell transfusion, carbazochrome sodium sulfonate injection, and continuous venovenous hemofiltration (CVVH)], the patient's vital signs stabilized and her hemoglobin increased to 86 g/L. Repeat CT showed that the hematoma had been partially absorbed after two weeks. Eventually, the patient was discharged with stable vital signs. | 4 | Association of vitamin D and knee osteoarthritis in younger individuals显示文摘BACKGROUND The incidence of primary osteoarthritis knee is gradually increasing among young individuals.The increasing prevalence of obesity,sedentary lifestyle,sporting activity,and vitamin D deficiency(VDD)has been hypothesized for this shifting disease trend.This study was designed to look for the association of serum vitamin D among these young arthritic patients.AIM To look for the association of serum vitamin D in younger knee osteoarthritis(KOA)patients.METHODS In a 2-year observational study,146 non-obese KOA patients of 35-60 years were evaluated clinically(Knee injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score,KOOS)and radiologically(Kellegren-Lawrence stage,KL).The serum 25(OH)D level of these patients and 146 normal healthy individuals of same age group were estimated.RESULTS Both the groups were comparable in terms of age and sex.The average serum 25(OH)D level in healthy individuals and KOA patients was 45.83 ng/mL and 34.58 ng/mL,respectively(P<0.001).Inadequate serum 25(OH)D level(<30 ng/mL)was found in 46.57%of KOA patients and 24%of normal healthy participants indicating a significant positive association(odds ratio 2.77,95%CI:1.67-4.54,P<0.001).The 25(OH)D level in KL grade I,II,III and IV was 43.40,30.59,31.56 and 33.93 ng/mL respectively(no difference,P=0.47).Similarly,the KOOS score in sufficient,insufficient and deficient groups were 65.31,60.36 and 65.31,respectively(no difference,P=0.051).CONCLUSION The serum 25(OH)D level is significantly low in younger KOA patients.However,the clinical and radiological severities have no association with serum vitamin D level. | Sujit Kumar Tripathy Amrit Gantaguru Saurav Narayan Nanda Sandeep Velagada Anand Srinivasan Manaswini Mangaraj | 2020 | World Journal of Orthopedics2020,11,10: | 2 |
