3科技园在英国区域发展和科技创新战略框架中的作用显示文摘Science parks have been in existence for over 20 years in the UK. A review of these reveals that there are three groups (stakeholders) that have an interest in these projects, each of which has a variety of objectives for involvement. However, there is one common or cross cutting objective for all stakeholders which is an interest in knowledge transfer and commercialization. Over the years there have been a number studies in the UK that have looked at this common purpose and some suggest that science parks do not meet this objective. In 2003 the UK Science Park Association (UKSPA) and the UK Government’s Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Small Business Service (SBS) funded a comparative study of 876 companies both on and off science parks in an attempt to evaluate the past and future economic contribution of the UK Science Park Movement. The most significant finding and conclusion of this study was that there were significant differences in the performance of Science Park across the UK and that this performance was as a result of the economic environment in which individual parks operate. In addition, the study showed that science parks play a positive role in supporting the growth of technology - related businesses, and hence wealth creation, in the UK; they make a significant and distinct contribution to the UK’s economic infrastructure; the accommodation they provide is valued by tenants and the overall commercial performance of the companies based on them is better than similar firms located elsewhere. The broad conclusion of this study were that the effectiveness of science parks in helping tenant companies drive technology up the value chain, is dependent on a number of other external factors and this highlighted the need to develop and implement wider policies and strategies to support science parks if they are to reach their full potential as instruments of economic development. 9Progress in TILLING as a tool for functional genomics and improvement of crops显示文摘Food security is a global concern and substantial yield increases in crops are required to feed the growing world population. Mutagenesis is an important tool in crop improvement and is free of the regulatory restrictions imposed on genetically modified organisms. Targeting Induced Local Lesions in Genomes(TILLING), which combines traditional chemical mutagenesis with high‐throughput genome‐wide screening for point mutations in desired genes, offers a powerful way to create novel mutant alleles for both functional genomics and improvement of crops. TILLING is generally applicable to genomes whether small or large, diploid or evenallohexaploid, and shows great potential to address the major challenge of linking sequence information to the function of genes and to modulate key traits for plant breeding. TILLING has been successfully applied in many crop species and recent progress in TILLING is summarized below, especially on the developments in mutation detection technology, application of TILLING in gene functional studies and crop breeding. The potential of TILLING/EcoTILLING for functional genetics and crop improvement is also discussed. 14Ten years of hip fractures in Italy: For the first time a decreasing trend in elderly women显示文摘AIM:To evaluate the hospitalization rate of femoralneck fractures in the elderly Italian population over ten years.METHODS:We analyzed national hospitalizations records collected at central level by the Ministry of Health from 2000 to 2009.Age-and sex-specific rates of fractures occurred at femoral neck in people≥65 years old.We performed a sub-analysis over a three-year period(2007-2009),presenting data per five-year age groups,in order to evaluate the incidence of the hip fracture in the oldest population.RESULTS:We estimated a total of 839008 hospitalizations due to femoral neck fractures between 2000 and2009 in people≥65,with an overall increase of 29.8%over 10 years.The incidence per 10000 inhabitants remarkably increased in people≥75,passing from158.5 to 166.8(+5.2%)and from 72.6 to 77.5(+6.8%)over the ten-year period in women and men,respectively.The oldest age group(people>85 years old)accounted for more than 42%of total hospital admissions in 2009(n=39000),despite representing only 2.5%of the Italian population.Particularly,women aged>85accounted for 30.8%of total fractures,although they represented just 1.8%of the general population.The results of this analysis indicate that the incidence of hip fractures progressively increased from 2000 to 2009,but a reduction can be observed for the first time in women≤75(-7.9%between 2004 and 2009).CONCLUSION:Incidence of hip fractures in Italy are continuously increasing,although women aged 65-74years old started showing a decreasing trend.Prisco Piscitelli Maurizio Feola Cecilia Rao Monica Celi Elena Gasbarra Cosimo Neglia Giuseppe Quarta Federico Maria Liuni Simone Parri Giovanni Iolascon Maria Luisa Brandi Alessandro Distante Umberto Tarantino 2014World Journal of Orthopedics2014,5,3:2
