| 2 | Factors affecting breastfeeding duration in Greece:What is important?显示文摘AIM:To investigate factors associated with breastfeeding duration(BD) in a sample of mothers living in Greece.METHODS:Four hundred and twenty-eight mothers(438 infants) were initially recruited in a tertiary University Hospital.Monthly telephone interviews(1665in total) using a structured questionnaire(one for each infant) were conducted until the sixth postpartum month.Cox regression analysis was used to assess factors influencing any BD.RESULTS:Any breastfeeding rates in the first,third,and sixth month of the infant's life reached 87.5%,57.0%and 38.75%,respectively.In the multivariate analysis,maternal smoking in the lactation period[hazard-ratio(HR) = 4.20]and psychological status(HR = 1.72),and the introduction of a pacifier(HR =2.08),were inversely associated,while higher maternal education(HR_(university/college vs primary/high school) = 0.53,HR_(master's vs primary/high school) = 0.20),and being an immigrant(HR = 0.35) were positively associated with BD.CONCLUSION:Public health interventions should focus on campaigns against smoking during lactation,target women of lower educational status,and endorse the delayed introduction of pacifiers. | Evangelia-Filothei Tavoulari Vassiliki Benetou Petros V Vlastarakos Theodora Psaltopoulou George Chrousos George Kreatsas Alexandras Gryparis Athena Linos | 2016 | World Journal of Clinical Pediatrics2016，5，3： | 12 |

| 5 | Prevalence of vacA, cagA and babA2 genes in Cuban Helicobacter pylori isolates显示文摘AIM: To investigate the prevalence of vacuolating cytotoxin (vacA), cytotoxin associated gene A (cagA) and blood adhesion binding antigen (babA2) genotypes of Helicobacter pylori (H pylori) isolates from Cuban dyspeptic patients. METHODS: DNA was extracted from H pylori-positive cultures taken from 130 dyspeptic patients. Genotyping was performed by PCR, using specifi c primers for vacA (s1, s2, m1, m2), cagA and babA2 genes. Endoscopic observations and histological examinations were used to determine patient pathologies. RESULTS: vacA alleles s1 , s2 , m1 and m2 were detected in 96 (73.8%), 34 (26.2%), 75 (57.7%) and 52 isolates (40%), respectively, while the cagA gene was detected in 95 isolates (73.2%). One hundred and seven isolates (82.3%) were babA2-positive. A signif icant correlation was observed between vacAs1m1 and cagA and between vacAs1m1 and babA2 genotypes (P < 0.001 and P < 0.05, respectively) and between babA2 genotype and cagA status (P < 0.05); but, no correlation was observed between vacAs1 and babA2 genotypes. Eighty fi ve (65.4%) and 73 (56.2%) strains were type 1 (vacAs1-cagA-positive) and 'triple- positive' (vacAs1-cagA-babA2-positive), respectively, and their presence was significantly associated with duodenal ulcer (P < 0.01 and P < 0.001, respectively). | 6 | Broad spectrum of interferon-related nephropathies-glomerulonephritis,systemic lupus erythematosus-like syndrome and thrombotic microangiopathy:A case report and review of literature显示文摘BACKGROUND Interferons(IFNs)are characterized by a wide range of biological effects,which justifies their potential therapeutic use in several pathologies,but also elicit a wide array of adverse effects in almost every organ system.Among them,renal involvement is probably one of the most complex to identify.CASE SUMMARY We describe four cases of kidney damage caused by different IFN formulations:IFN-β-related thrombotic microangiopathy,IFN-β-induced systemic lupus erythematosus,and two cases of membranous nephropathy secondary to pegylated-IFN-α2B.In each case,we carefully excluded any other possible cause of renal involvement.Once suspected as the casual relationship between drug and kidney damage,IFN treatment was immediately discontinued.In three cases,we observed a complete and persistent remission of clinical and laboratory abnormalities after IFN withdrawal,while the patient who developed thrombotic microangiopathy,despite IFN withdrawal and complement-inhibitor therapy with eculizumab,showed persistent severe renal failure requiring dialysis.CONCLUSION This case series highlights the causal relationship between IFN treatment and different types of renal involvement and enables us to delineate several peculiarities of this association. | Iacopo Gianassi Marco Allinovi Leonardo Caroti Lino Calogero Cirami | 2019 | World Journal of Nephrology2019，8，7： | 2 |
