1Geochemical environmental changes and dinosaur extinction during the Cretaceous-Paleogene (K/T) transition in the Nanxiong Basin, South China: Evidence from dinosaur eggshells显示文摘The complex patterns of trace elements including Ir and isotope distributions in the three K/T sections of the Nanxiong Basin prove the existence of two environmental events in the latest Cretaceous and earliest Paleocene. The first geochemical environmental event occurred at about 2 Ma prior to the K/T boundary interval, where the dinosaur diversity was hardly reduced, except that a number of patho-logical eggshells appeared. The second one was larger and occurred just at and near the Creta-ceous-Paleogene (K/T) boundary. The extinction of the dinosaurs spread out within 250 ka with major extinction beginning at the boundary interval. This is even later than their extinction in Montana, North America and in India. The cause of the dinosaur extinction may be the result of a complex multiple events brought about by the coincidence of global environment change marked by multiple Ir and δ 18O anomalies, and environmental poisoning characterized by other trace elements derived from the local source. 2Atomic structures of Zr-based metallic glasses显示文摘The atomic structures of Zr-Ni and Zr-Ti-Al-Cu-Ni metallic glasses were investigated by using classical molecular dynamic (MD),reverse Monte Carlo (RMC),ab initio MD (AIMD) simulations and high resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM) techniques. We focused on the short-range order (SRO) and medium-range order (MRO) in the glassy structure. It is shown that there are icosahedral,FCC-and BCC-type SROs in the Zr-based metallic glasses. A structural model,characterized by imperfect ordered packing (IOP),was proposed based on the MD simulation and confirmed by the HRTEM observation. Furthermore,the evolution from IOP to nanocrystal during the crystallization of metallic glasses was also ex-plored. It is found that the growth from IOP to nanocrystal proceeds through three distinct stages: the formation of quasi-ordered structure with one-dimensional (1D) periodicity,then 2D periodicity,and finally the formation of 3D nanocrystals. 3A new oofamily of dinosaur egg from the Upper Cretaceous of Tiantai Basin,Zhejiang Province,and its mechanism of eggshell formation显示文摘Here we describe new types of dinosaur eggs found from the Late Cretaceous Chichengshan Formation in the Tiantai Basin,Zhejiang Province.On the basis of such characters as small spheroid or near-spheroid,columnar layer composed of three zones,the outer zone consisted of stalagmite-like or coralliform secondary shell units,we established two new oogenera,one new and one combination oospecies:Stalicoolithus shifengensis oogen.et oosp.nov.and Coralloidoolithus shizuiwanensis oogen.et comb.nov.In addition,re-examination of the holotype of Shixingoolithus erbeni from the Upper Cretaceous Pingling Formation,Guangdong Province reveals that it was erroneously attributed to Spheroolithidae,and should be transferred to stalicoolithid.Consequently,we established a new oofamily:Stalicoolithidae oofam.nov.Stalicoolthids represents a new model of dinosaur eggshell and thus sheds new light on the formation and evolution of amniotic eggshells.WANG Qiang WANG XiaoLin ZHAO ZiKui JIANG YanGen 2012Chinese Science Bulletin2012,57,28:6
4Dinosaur diversity during the transition between the middle and late parts of the Late Cretaceous in eastern Shandong Province,China:Evidence from dinosaur eggshells显示文摘The record of dinosaur eggs from the Upper Cretaceous Wangshi Group in eastern Shandong Province,China shows that the dinosaur species represented by elongatoolithids were present from the middle to the late Late Cretaceous,whereas those represented by the dictyoolithids and spheroolithids became extinct in the middle Late Cretaceous and the new species represented by ovaloolithids appeared in the late Late Cretaceous.Estimated eggshell conductance of water vapor is over 4 to over 115 times higher in spheroolithids and the dictyoolithids than in elongatoolithids and ovaloolithids,indicating that eggs of the first two oofamilies required higher humidity during incubation.Based on the18O record as preserved in eggshell,a change from relatively humid to relatively dry climatic conditions can be assumed to have taken place during the transition between the middle and late parts of the Late Cretaceous.It is reasonable to suggest that the change in climate was the cause of the dinosaur diversity.ZHAO ZiKui ZHANG ShuKang WANG Qiang WANG XiaoLin 2013Chinese Science Bulletin2013,58,36:3
5A fabrication method for adaptive dielectric gradient insulating components显示文摘Dielectric gradient components have advantages in electric field mitigation and insulation improvement.In this paper,we propose a fabrication method for adaptive dielectric gradient components using in situ AC electric field,including the mechanism and the corresponding operational procedures for industrial applications.Based on the electric polarisation and self-assembly effect of the filler particles in the liquid matrix,the chainlike structure in the high field strength region is constructed to enhance the local permittivity and mitigate the maximum of the spatial electric field.The dielectric gradient basin insulator is prepared by this method,and its flashover voltage is increased by 12.8%compared with that of a homogeneous dielectric basin insulator,and the improvement is 20.8%when metal particles are present on the surface.The more non-uniform the initial electric field is,the greater the improvement in flashover voltage.This method is expected to promote the industrial application of dielectric gradient insulating components.Zikui Shen Zhidong Jia Yanpeng Hao Zhenyu Xin Xilin Wang 2023High Voltage2023,8,1:2

8Analytical model for the transient permittivity of uncured TiO_(2) whisker/liquid silicone rubber composites under an AC electric field显示文摘The electric field grading of dielectric permittivity gradient devices is an effective way of enhancing their insulation properties.The in situ electric field‐driven as-sembly is an advanced method for the fabrication of insulation devices with adaptive permittivity gradients;however,there is no theoretical guidance for design.In this study,an analytical model with a time constant is developed to determine the transient permittivity of uncured composites under an applied AC electric field.This model is based on optical image and dielectric permittivity monitoring,which avoids the direct processing of complex electrodynamics.For a composite with given components,the increased filler content and electric field strength can accelerate the transient process.Compared with the finite element method based on differential equations,this statistical model is simple but efficient,and can be applied to any low‐viscosity uncured composites,which may contain multiple fillers.More importantly,when a voltage is applied to an uncured composite insulating device,the proposed model can be used to analyse the spatiotemporal permittivity characteristics of this device and optimise its permittivity gradient for electric field grading.Zikui Shen Zhenyu Xin Xilin Wang Xinyu Wei Zhidong Jia 2021High Voltage2021,6,3:1

15Perspective on Materials Genome~显示文摘The author’s perspective on Materials Genome is presented in this paper through several related projects.Current thermodynamic and kinetic databases of multicomponent materials consist of Gibbs energy functions and atomic mobility of individual phases as functions of temperature,composition,and sometimes pressure,i.e.,with the individual phases based on crystal structures as the genome(building blocks)of materials.It is articulated that if an individual phase has its internal configurations,such as magnetic spin configurations and ferroelectric polarization,change significantly with respect to temperature,stress,and magnetic and electric fields,then those individual configurations instead should be considered as the genome of the individual phase.The‘‘mutation’’of an individual phase is governed by the entropy of mixing among the individual stable and metastable configurations,named as microstate configurational entropy,and responsible to anomalies in individual phases.Our ability to tailor the properties of those individual configurations as a function of compositions is the key for the design of materials.Zikui Liu 2014Chinese Science Bulletin2014,59,15:1
16A new many-body potential with the second-moment approximation of tight-binding scheme for Hafnium显示文摘In this work,we develop a new many-body potential for alpha-hafnium(α-Hf)based on the second moment approximation of tight-binding(TB-SMA)theory by introducing an additional Heaviside step function into the potential model and a new analytical scheme of density function.All the parameters of the new potential have been systematically evaluated by fitting to ground-state properties including cohesive energy,lattice constants,elastic constants,vacancy formation energy,structure stability and equation of state.By using the present model,the melting point,melt heat,thermal expansion coefficient,point defects,and low-index surface energies ofα-Hf were calculated through molecular dynamics simulations.Comparing with experiment observations from others,it is shown that these properties can be reproduced reasonably by the present model,some results being more consistent to the experimental data than those by previous suggested models.This indicates that this work is sutiable in TB-SMA potential for hexagonal close packed metals.LIN DeYe WANG Yi SHANG ShunLi LU ZhaoPing LIU ZiKui HUI XiDong 2013Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2013,56,11:1
