3Toric Intraocular Lens vs. Peripheral Corneal Relaxing Incisions to Correct Astigmatism in Eyes Undergoing Cataract Surgery显示文摘Purpose:.To compare toric intraocular lens implantation(ToricIOL).with peripheral corneal relaxing incisions(PCRIs) for astigmatism correction in patients undergoing cataract surgery.Methods: 54 patients(54 eyes) with more than 0.75 diopter(D).of preexisting corneal astigmatism were classified as group A(0.75-1.50D) or group B(1.75-2.50D). The patients were randomized to undergo Toric-IOL or PCRIs in the steep axis with spherical IOL implantation..Log MAR uncorrected visual acuity(Log MAR UCVA), Log MAR best corrected vi sual acuity.(Log MAR BCVA),.error of vector(|EV|), surgery induced refraction correction.(|SIRC |),.and correction rates(CR) were measured 1 month and 6 months postoperatively.Results: At 6 months postoperatively, all 54 eyes had LogMAR BCVA≤0.2. Patients who underwent PCRIs and ToricIOL with Log MAR BCVA≤0.1 showed no significant differences in group A(P=1.00) or in group B(P=0.59). Group A showed no significant differences in Log MAR UCVA(P =0.70), |EV|(P=0.13), |SIRC|(P=0.71), and CR(P=0.56)in patients underwent PCRIs and Toric-IOL. However, group B showed significant differences in Log MAR UCVA(P <0.01), |EV|(P<0.01)), |SIRC|(P<0.01), and CR(P<0.01).The Log MAR UCVA and |EV | between 1 and 6 months showed no significant differences in patients in group A. 4Comparison of Anterior Segment Optical Coherence Tomography and Ultrasound Biomicroscopy for Iris Parameter Measurements in Patients with Primary Angle Closure Glaucoma显示文摘Purpose: To compare the repeatability and consistency of anterior segment optical coherence tomography (AS-OCT) and ultrasound biomicroscopy (UBM) in measuring iris parameters in patients with primary angle closure glaucoma. Methods: Twenty-two patients (38 eyes) with primary angle closure glaucoma,including 5 eyes with acute angle closure glaucoma,10 fellow eyes of acute angle closure glaucoma, and 23 eyes with chronic angle closure glaucoma, were recruited consecutively in our hospital. All subjects underwent anterior scanning by AS-OCT and UBM. Peripheral iris thickness (PIT) and iris curvature (IC) in the anterior segment image obtained by AS-OCT and UBM were measured twice. The reproducibility of these two scans was evaluated by the intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC). A paired t-test was used to compare the difference between the two scans and the 95% limits of agreement (LoA) were calculated. Results:The ICCs of PIT and IC measured by UBM were 0.892 and 0.936 respectively, while for AS-OCT these values were 0.629 and 0.859, respectively. UBM had a higher reproducibility in both PIT and IC measurements as compared with AS-OCT.Differences in PIT measurement between AS-OCT and UBM(P=0.331).were not statistically significant, the 95% LoA (-0.178~0.156) mm was 36.1~41.2% of the mean. The IC was 0.053 mm smaller when measured by UBM than by AS-OCT (P=0.017), with the 95% LoA (-0.100~0.206) mm, or 36.2~74.6% of the mean.Conclusion:UBM had a higher reproducibility in measuring iris parameters than AS-OCT. The consistency between AS- OCT and UBM in measuring iris parameters was low in primary angle closure glaucoma patients. 5Use of Silicone Tubes to Repair Canalicular Lacerations via a Novel Method显示文摘Purpose:To develop a novel method to repair canalicular lacerations using silicone tubes.Methods:A total of 47 adult patients(47 eyes)with canalicular lacerations were collected from the outpatient department from November 2010 to December 2012.The age ranged from16 to 53 years.Among the 47 eyes,37 had lower canalicular lacerations,6 had upper canalicular lacerations,and 4 had bicanalicular lacerations..A soft probe was made using a stainless steel acupuncture needle,which was inserted into the lumen of the proximal part of the catheter to increase its rigidity.The probe was then inserted into the lacrimal sac and nasolacrimal duct.After retrieval of the catheters,the two ends of the silicone tube were securely tied.(end to end).to the catheters..The silicon tube outside the nostril formed a Ushape.The catheters were then pulled upward until the silicone tube was completely located in the canalicular system.The catheters were cut off of the silicone tube near the site of the connection.The two ends of the silicone tube were cut short,~2mm out of the lacrimal punctum,and tied securely,end to end.The length of the tube between the upper and lower punctum was adjusted to ensure that no tension was present in the medial cathus,and the suture was removed through the nostril.The silicone tube was removed 3-10 months after this novel canalicular intubation procedure (NCI).Results:.All cases were anatomically rehabilitated after surgery..The silicone tube was removed after implanted in 3-10months (mean 4.5±1.3 months),the average follow-up time was 11.8 months after removal.In total,45 eyes in all 47eyes (95.74%)were free from obstruction.Among them,41eyes (91.11%) achieved complete success(completely disap-pearance of epiphora after tube removal),.4 eyes.(8.89%)achieved partial success.(irritation occurs under stimulation conditions,such as wind or cold conditions),4 eyes showed postoperative tearing,with three eyes having inferior lacrimal duct laceration,and one eye with superior canalicular laceration.Apart from two cases (4.26%) suffering inferior punctum splitting,no other associated issues occurred with the silicone tube or iatrogenic injury and lacrimal complications.Conclusion:For adult patients with canalicular laceration,the NCI was an effective,atraumatic surgery,which has fewer complications than traditional canalicular suture.Zhiping Liu Xiangyin Sha Xuanwei Liang Zhonghao Wang 2013Eye Science2013,28,4:8
6High-Q whispering gallery modes in a polymer microresonator with broad strain tuning显示文摘We have reported the high-Q whispering gallery modes(WGMs) in a polydimethylsiloxane(PDMS) optical microresonators with broad tuning range. The PDMS microresonators are fabricated at the center of two collimating fiber tips, which can be controlled by the piezoelectric stage. Through stretching the fiber stem, the tuning range of WGMs are demonstrated more than 50 nm.Further investigations demonstrated that the WGM shift has a high force sensitivity(~ 19.7 pm/μN) of the gravitation when the microcavity is stretched by a weight. 7Crocetin Potentiates Neurite Growth in Hippocampal Neurons and Facilitates Functional Recovery in Rats with Spinal Cord Injury显示文摘Crocetin is an ingredient of traditional Chinese medicine and has therapeutic potential in various diseases due to its pharmacological properties, such as neuroprotection, anti-oxidative stress, and anti-inflammation. These properties might benefit the treatment of spinal cord injury.In the present study, we tested the effect of crocetin on neurite growth and sensorimotor dysfunction in a rat model of spinal cord injury. We evaluated the viability of cultured hippocampal neurons with tetrazolium dye and lactate dehydrogenase assays, visualized neurites and axons with antibody staining, and monitored motor and sensorimotor functions in rats with spinal cord injury using the Basso,Beattie, and Bresnahan assay and the contact plantar placement test, respectively, and measured cytokine expression using enzyme-linked immuno-absorbent assays.We found that crocetin(1) did not alter the viability of cultured hippocampal neurons;(2) accelerated neurite growth with preference for the longest process in individual hippocampal neurons;(3) reversed the inhibition of neurite growth by chondroitin sulfate proteoglycan and Nogo A;(4) facilitated the recovery of motor and sensorimotor functions after spinal cord injury; and(5) did not inhibit pro-inflammatory responses, but restored the innervation of the descending 5-HT system in injured spinalcord. 8Architecture of the herpesvirus genomepackaging complex and implications for DNA translocation显示文摘Genome packaging is a fundamental process in a viral life cycle and a prime target of antiviral drugs.Herpesviruses use an ATP-driven packaging motor/terminase complex to translocate and cleave concatemeric dsDNA into procapsids but its molecular architecture and mechanism are unknown.We report atomic structures of a herpesvirus hexameric terminase complex in both the apo and ADP·BeF3-bound states.Each subunit of the hexameric ring comprises three components-the ATPase/terminase pUL15 and two regulator/fixer proteins,pUL28 and pUL33-unlike bacteriophage terminases.Distal to the nuclease domains,six ATPase domains form a central channel with conserved basicpatches conducive to DNA binding and trans-acting arginine fingers are essential to ATP hydrolysis and sequential DNA translocation.Rearrangement of the nuclease domains mediated by regulatory domains converts DNA translocation mode to cleavage mode.Our structures favor a sequential revolution model for DNA translocation and suggest mechanisms for concerted domain rearrangements leading to DNA cleavage.Yunxiang Yang Pan Yang Nan Wang Zhonghao Chen Dan Su ZHong Zhou Zihe Rao Xiangxi Wang 2020Protein & Cell2020,11,5:5

11A robotic laparoscopic tool with enhanced capabilities and modularactuation显示文摘Due to the improved treatment outcomes, research on robotic MIS(Minimally Invasive Surgery) thrived in the past decades. A benchmark example is the da Vinci system that dominates robotic laparoscopy via its technology excellence and strong holding of intellectual properties. This study provides an alternative approach to realize robotic laparoscopic surgeries, by presenting the development and experimentation of the SMARLT(Strengthened Modularly Actuated Robotic Laparoscopic Tool) for MIS. A dual continuum mechanism is used in the design to achieve enhanced distal dexterity, improved reliability, increased payload capability, and actuation modularity. With kinematics modelling and actuation compensation, the SMARLT can be manipulated by a generic manipulator to carry out typical laparoscopic MIS tasks, such as tissue peeling, suturing, and knot tying. Payload capability was also experimentally characterized. The SMARLT-manipulator system essentially formed a continuum-rigid hybrid structure that makes full use of the advantages from each component: the continuum mechanism as a wrist for distal dexterity and other rigid parts for position accuracy and payload capability. 12Experimental Study on a Single Layer Two-Way Grid Shell with Tension Members显示文摘Single layer two-way grid shell with in-plane and out-of-plane tension members is a new type of single-layer latticed shell roofs. Compared with traditional single-layer latticed shells,this new type has a unique mesh form and excellent rigidity. In order to further understand the buckling behaviors of single layer two-way grid cylindrical shell roof with tension members,the buckling experiments have been undertaken to investigate the effect of tension members,in either out-of-plane or in-plane placement. A single layer two-way grid cylindrical shell roof with out-of-plane tension members has been tested under symmetric and asymmetric loading. The tension member placement,the introducing initial axial force to tension members and the load patterns are considered to investigate the buckling behavior. Experimental results indicate that four long out-ofplane tension members work well under symmetrical loading,but only two long out-of-plane tension members work under asymmetrical loading. 15An acidic polysaccharide with xylose branches from Porphyra yezoensis显示文摘An acidic polysaccharide (PY3) was isolated from the hot water extract of the red algae Porphyra yezoensis by successive column chromatographies over DEAE-cellulose and Sephadex G-200. PY3 with an average molecular weight of 1.8×105 was demonstrated to be composed of galactose (Gal), 3,6-anhydrogalactose (3,6-AnGal), 6-OSO3-galactose (6-OSO3-Gal) and xylose (Xyl) in an approximate molar ratio of 25:15:10:1. In view of Smith degradation and me-thylation and on the basis of spectral evidence including those of IR, GC, GC-MS, and 1H and 13C NMR, the most probable repeating unit of PY3 could be proposed as [(1-3)β-D-Gal(1- 4)α-L-3,6-AnGal]3-[1-3)β-D-Gal(1-4)α-L-6-OSO3-Gal]2 with a xylose moiety at the C6 of one of every twenty-five β-D-Gal residues. 16Efficient CO_(2) electroreduction over N-doped hieratically porous carbon derived from petroleum pitch显示文摘Developing of economic and efficient catalysts is critical for the application of electroreduction of carbon dioxide to highly valuable chemicals.Herein,we present a facile method to synthesize N-doped hieratically porous carbon through pyrolysis of petroleum pitch followed by ammonia etching.We found mesopores are favored formation by removing of asphaltene from petroleum pitch during the carbonation process.Simultaneously,ammonia etching can not only increase the pyridinic-N content,but also upgrade the ratio of meso-to micro-pores of carbon materials.Using the N-doped hieratically porous carbon as catalyst for carbon dioxide electroreduction,the Faradaic efficiency of carbon monoxide reaches 83%at-0.9 V vs.the reversible hydrogen electrode(RHE)in 0.1 M KHCO_(3).This superior performance is attributed to the synergistic effects of highly pyridinic-N content in conjunction with the hieratically porous architecture,rendering abundant exposed and accessible active sites for electroreduction of CO_(2).Our work provides a new strategy for the large-scale preparation of high-performance,low-cost catalysts for CO_(2) electroreduction.Hui Ning Dianliang Guo Xiaoshan Wang Zhonghao Tan Wenhang Wang Zhongxue Yang Linqing Li Qingshan Zhao Jian Hao Mingbo Wu 2021Journal of Energy Chemistry2021,30,5:3
17Numerical study on solid–liquid phase change in paraffin as phase change material for battery thermal management显示文摘With the large latent heat and low cost, the paraffin has been widely used in battery thermal management(BTM) system to improve the efficiency and cycling life of power battery. The numerical model of paraffin melting in a cavity has been established, and the effects on the solid–liquid phase change process have been investigated for the purpose of enhancing the heat transfer performance of paraffin-based BTM system. The results showed that the location of the heating wall had great effects on the melting process. The paraffin in the cavity melted most quickly when the heating wall located at the bottom. Furthermore, the effects of thermal conductivity and the velocity of the slip wall have been considered. 19Strain-hardening and warm deformation behaviors of extruded Mg-Sn-Yb alloy sheet显示文摘Strain-hardening and warm deformation behaviors of extruded Mg-2Sn-0.5Yb alloy(at.%)sheet were investigated in uniaxial tensile test at temperatures of 25-250 ℃ and strain rates of 1×10^(−3) s^(−1)-0.1 s^(−1).The data fit with the Kocks-Mecking type plots were used to show different stages of strain hardening.Besides III-stage and IV-stage,the absence of the II-stage strain hardening at room temperature should be related to the sufficient dynamic recrystallization during extrusion.The decrease of strain hardening ability of the alloy after yielding was attributed to the reduction of dislocation density with increasing testing temperature.Strain rate sensitivity(SRS)was significantly enhanced with increasing temperature,and the corresponding m-value was calculated as 0.07-0.12,which indicated that the deformation mechanism was dominated by the climb-controlled dislocation creep at 200 ℃.Furthermore,the grain boundary sliding(GBS)was activated at 250 ℃,which contributed to the higher SRS.The activation energy was calculated as 213.67 kJ mol^(−1),which was higher than that of lattice diffusion or grain boundary self-diffusion.In addition,the alloy exhibited a quasi superplasticity at 250 ℃ with a strain rate of 1×10^(−3) s^(−1),which was mainly related to the fine microstructure and the presence of the Mg2Sn and Mg2(Sn,Yb)particles.Jing Jiang Guangli Bi Guoyong Wang Qing Jiang Jianshe Lian Zhonghao Jiang 2014Journal of Magnesium and Alloys2014,2,2:3
20Structure of the HRV-C 3C-Rupintrivir Complex Provides New Insights for Inhibitor Design显示文摘Human rhinoviruses(HRVs)are the predominant infectious agents for the common cold worldwide.The HRV-C species cause severe illnesses in children and are closely related to acute exacerbations of asthma.3C protease,a highly conserved enzyme,cleaves the viral polyprotein during replication and assists the virus in escaping the host immune system.These key roles make 3C protease an important drug target.A few structures of 3Cs complexed with an irreversible inhibitor rupintrivir have been determined.These structures shed light on the determinants of drug specificity.Here we describe the structures of HRV-C153C in free and inhibitor-bound forms.The volume-decreased S1'subsite and half-closed S2 subsite,which were thought to be unique features of enterovirus A 3C proteases,appear in the HRV-C 3C protease.Rupintrivir assumes an“intermediate”conformation in the complex,which might open up additional avenues for the design of potent antiviral inhibitors.Analysis of the features of the three-dimensional structures and the amino acid sequences of 3C proteases suggest new applications for existing drugs.Shuai Yuan Kaiyue Fan Zhonghao Chen Yao Sun Hai Hou Ling Zhu 2020Virologica Sinica2020,35,4:3
