| 1 | High-Q whispering gallery modes in a polymer microresonator with broad strain tuning显示文摘We have reported the high-Q whispering gallery modes(WGMs) in a polydimethylsiloxane(PDMS) optical microresonators with broad tuning range. The PDMS microresonators are fabricated at the center of two collimating fiber tips, which can be controlled by the piezoelectric stage. Through stretching the fiber stem, the tuning range of WGMs are demonstrated more than 50 nm.Further investigations demonstrated that the WGM shift has a high force sensitivity(~ 19.7 pm/μN) of the gravitation when the microcavity is stretched by a weight. | 2 | Architecture of the herpesvirus genomepackaging complex and implications for DNA translocation显示文摘Genome packaging is a fundamental process in a viral life cycle and a prime target of antiviral drugs.Herpesviruses use an ATP-driven packaging motor/terminase complex to translocate and cleave concatemeric dsDNA into procapsids but its molecular architecture and mechanism are unknown.We report atomic structures of a herpesvirus hexameric terminase complex in both the apo and ADP·BeF3-bound states.Each subunit of the hexameric ring comprises three components-the ATPase/terminase pUL15 and two regulator/fixer proteins,pUL28 and pUL33-unlike bacteriophage terminases.Distal to the nuclease domains,six ATPase domains form a central channel with conserved basicpatches conducive to DNA binding and trans-acting arginine fingers are essential to ATP hydrolysis and sequential DNA translocation.Rearrangement of the nuclease domains mediated by regulatory domains converts DNA translocation mode to cleavage mode.Our structures favor a sequential revolution model for DNA translocation and suggest mechanisms for concerted domain rearrangements leading to DNA cleavage. | Yunxiang Yang Pan Yang Nan Wang Zhonghao Chen Dan Su ZHong Zhou Zihe Rao Xiangxi Wang | 2020 | Protein & Cell2020,11,5: | 5 |

| 5 | Physico-Chemical Properties and Enzyme Activities of the Arable Soils in Lhasa,Tibet,China显示文摘An understanding of the physical,chemical,and biological properties of a soil provides a basis for soil use and management.This paper reports the major physico-chemical properties and enzyme activities of the soils of Lhasa's main arable lands and the factors that influence these soil properties.Composite and core samples were taken from the three main arable soil types(alluvial soil,subalpine arable steppe soil,and subalpine arable meadow soil) and were analysed using standard methods.The bulk density and the ventilation porosity ratio of the soils were close to the recommended values for arable lands,and the dominant soil texture was sandy.The soil moisture release rates were arable steppe soil > alluvial soil > arable meadow soil.Soil organic matter content,Cation-Exchange Capacity(CEC),total and available nitrogen content,and catalase activity of the arable meadow soil were higher than those of the alluvial and the arable steppe soils,while soil pH in the arable meadow was lower.Most of the measured properties did not show a significant variance among these three soils.However,the measured indices(apart from the total potassium) indicate that there are notable differences among the three types of soil.The results implied that the utilisation patterns of the arable soil or human activities,such as tillage practices and fertiliser applications,have a substantialeffect on the soil properties in this region.Our results suggest that the cultivation practices in the region have apparently positive impact on the soil organic matter,nutrient contents and bulk density probably due to the sound fertiliser management such as the applications of farmyard manure and chemical fertilisers.However,intense cultivation practices lowered the activity of most soil enzymes.The results demonstrate that the choice of soil management strategy had a significant impact on the soil physicochemical and biological properties in the region studied. | WEI Yai ZHOU Zhonghao LIU Gangcai | 2012 | Journal of Mountain Science2012,9,4: | 2 |
| 6 | Bio-oxidation of galena particles by Acidithiobacillus ferrooxidans显示文摘This paper deals with the bio-oxidation of galena particles(-80 meshes) using Acidithiobacillus ferrooxidans and compares it with Fe3+ oxidation.Experimental results show that,at least,0.00197 mol galena was leached from 100 mL pulp(density of 3.8%) with 39 days' bio-oxidation,as compared to 0.00329 mol galena by Fe3+ with 9 days' oxidation.Because Fe3+ was constantly consumed,leaching by Fe3+ almost stopped after 9 days.Large amounts of lead sulfate were detected in both bio-oxidation and Fe3+ oxidation of galena.A.ferrooxidans followed a unique growth pattern during the bio-oxidation of galena.In the initial 15 days,the bacteria attached themselves to the galena surface with the formation of erosion pits similar in shape and length to those of the bacteria,and there were hardly any bacteria suspended in the solution.After 15 days,suspended bacteria increased.It is thus suggested that A.ferrooxidans may directly oxidize galena. | Lei Jiang Huaiyang Zhou Xiaotong Peng Zhonghao Ding | 2008 | Particuology2008,6,2: | 2 |

| 12 | Electronic structure of LaIrIn5and f-electron character in its related Ce-115 compounds显示文摘LaIrIn5 is a reference compound of the heavy-fermion superconductor LaIrIn5.The lack of f electrons in LaIrIn5 indicates that there should not be any f electron participating in the construction of its Fermi surface.Thus the electronic structure comparison between LaIrIn5 and LaIrIn5 provides a good platform to study the properties of f electrons.Here angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy(ARPES)measurements and density functional theory(DFT)calculations are performed to study the electronic structures of LaIrIn5 and LaIrIn5.We find the valence band structures of the two materials are similar to each other,except for the absence of f bands in LaIrIn5.By analyzing the Fermi crossings of the three conduction bands of the two materials quantitatively,we find the volumes of the electron pocketsαandβaround the M′point become larger from LaIrIn5 to LaIrIn5,while the hole pocketγaround theΓ′point becomes smaller.Together with the calculation results,we confirm that this is mainly originated from the f-electron contribution,while the lattice-constant difference between LaIrIn5 and LaIrIn5 only has a finite influence.We also give a summary of the f-electron character in its related Ce-115 heavy fermion compounds.Our results may be essential for the complete microscopic understanding of the 115 compounds and the related heavy-fermion systems. | Rui Zhou XueBing Luo ZhaoFeng Ding Lei Shu XingYu Ji ZiHao Zhu YaoBo Huang DaWei Shen ZhengTai Liu ZhongHao Liu Yun Zhang QiuYun Chen | 2020 | Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2020,63,11: | 0 |
