1PM_(2.5) in China:Measurements,sources,visibility and health effects,and mitigation显示文摘Concern over the health effects of fine particles in the ambient environment led the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to develop the first standard for PM2.5(particulate matter less than 2.5 jxm) in 1997. The Particle Technology Laboratory at the University of Minnesota has helped to establish the PM2.5 standard by developing many instruments and samplers to perform atmospheric measurements. In this paper, we review various aspects of PM2.5, including its measurement, source apportionment, visibility and health effects, and mitigation. We focus on PM2.5 studies in China and where appropriate, compare them with those obtained in the U.S. Based on accurate PM2.5 sampling, chemical analysis, and source apportionment models, the major PM2.5 sources in China have been identified to be coal combustion, motor vehicle emissions, and industrial sources. Atmospheric visibility has been found to correlate well with PM2.5concentration. Sulfate, ammonium, and nitrate carried by PM2.5, commonly found in coal burning and vehicle emissions, are the dominant contributors to regional haze in China. Short-term exposure to PM2.5 is strongly associated with the increased risk of morbidity and mortality from cardiovascular and respiratory diseases in China. The strategy for PM2.5 mitigation must be based on reducing the pollutants from the two primary sources of coal-fired power plants and vehicle emissions. Although conventional Particulate Emission Control Devices(PECD) such as electrostatic precipitators in Chinese coal-fired power plants are generally effective for large particles, most of them may not have high collection efficiency of PM2.5.Baghouse filtration is gradually incorporated into the PECD to increase the PM2.5 collection efficiency.By adopting stringent vehicle emissions standard such as Euro 5 and 6, the emissions from vehicles can be gradually reduced over the years. 2Antitumor Research on Artemisinin and Its Bioactive Derivatives显示文摘Cancer is the leading cause of human death which seriously threatens human life.The antimalarial drug artemisinin and its derivatives have been discovered with considerable anticancer properties.Simultaneously,a variety of target-selective artemisinin-related compounds with high efficiency have been discovered.Many researches indicated that artemisinin-related compounds have cytotoxic effects against a variety of cancer cells through pleiotropic effects,including inhibiting the proliferation of tumor cells,promoting apoptosis,inducing cell cycle arrest,disrupting cancer invasion and metastasis,preventing angiogenesis,mediating the tumor-related signaling pathways,and regulating tumor microenvironment.More importantly,artemisinins demonstrated minor side effects to normal cells and manifested the ability to overcome multidrug-resistance which is widely observed in cancer patients.Therefore,we concentrated on the new advances and development of artemisinin and its derivatives as potential antitumor agents in recent 5 years.It is our hope that this review could be helpful for further exploration of novel artemisinin-related antitumor agents.Yunqin Zhang Guowei Xu Shuqun Zhang Dong Wang PSaravana Prabha Zhili Zuo 2018Natural Products and Bioprospecting2018,8,4:8

5Towards growth of pure AB-stacked bilayer graphene single crystals显示文摘Given its intriguing band structure and unique tunable bandgap,AB-stacked bilayer graphene has great potentials in the applications of high-end electronics,optoelectronics and semiconductors.The epitaxial growth of AB-stacked single-crystal bilayer graphene films requires a strict AB-stacked lattice,identical orientations and seamless stitching of bilayer graphene islands.However,the particles inevitably present on the metal surface that produced during high temperature growth would induce random orientations,twisted stacking islands,and uncontrollable multilayers,which is a great challenge to overcome.Here,we propose a heat-resisting-box assisted strategy to produce nearly pure AB-stacked bilayer graphene single-crystal films on Cu/Ni(111)foils.With our technique,the particles on the Cu/Ni(111)surface are effectively eliminated,which greatly minimizes the occurrence of randomly twisted islands and uncontrollable multilayers.The as-grown AB-stacked bilayer graphene films show>99%alignment and>99%AB stacking order.Our work provides a promising method towards the growth of pure AB-stacked bilayer graphene single crystals and would accelerate its device applications.Xiaowen Zhang Tao Zhou Yunlong Ren Zuo Feng Ruixi Qiao Qinghe Wang Bin Wang Jinxia Bai Muhong Wu Zhilie Tang Xu Zhou Kaihui Liu Xiaozhi Xu 2024Nano Research2024,17,5:0
6Screening of Host Proteins Interacting with PorcineEpidemic Diarrhea Virus (PEDV) N Protein by YeastTwo-hybrid System显示文摘[Objective] The paper was to obtain host proteins interacting with porcine epidemic diarrhea virus(PEDV) N protein. [Method] The recombinant vector pGBKT7-N of PEDV N gene was constructed and used as the bait plasmid to screen the proteins interacting with N protein of PEDV from the cDNA library of porcine alveolar macrophage(PAM) by yeast two-hybrid method. [Result] There was no toxicity and self activation of bait protein in yeast hybridization system, and six proteins(FTH1, LGALS3, CORO1C, SNRPG, KRTAP5-3, ZNF598) interacting with N protein were indentified. It was confirmed that LGALS3 and SNRPG had specific interaction with N protein by return experiment and co-immunoprecipitation(CoIP) test. 7Roles of trichomes in tea plant resistance against multiple abiotic and biotic stresses显示文摘Tea trichomes contribute significantly to tea flavors by providing diverse and specific flavor-determining metabolites,including catechins,caffeine,theanine,and volatiles.However,not much is known about the physiological functions of tea trichomes in tea plant adaptation to complex environments,nor the trichome development.Tea trichomes not only build up chemical defenses,but also act as the first physical barrier protecting herbivore attacks,reflecting high light and UV-B radiation,and preventing water loss.Moreover,transcriptome profiling on the tea trichomes compared with the trichome-removed leaves also showed that tea trichomes highly expressed numerous defense-related genes involved in protection from high light and UV-B radiation,cold stress,disease resistance signal transduction,anti-herbivore or anti-abiotic peptide biosynthesis,and other defense responses.Several pieces of experimental evidence supported the notes,highlighting the roles of tea trichomes in plant defenses against both abiotic and biotic stresses.The study provides fresh insights into the multiple protective functions of tea trichome for tea plant adaptation to harsh environments.The new understanding on tea trichomes could benefit the development of better breading strategy for new tea varieties with greater adaption and tolerance to changing environmental challenges.Penghui Li Yanrui Zhang Zhili Ye Hao Zuo Ping Li Xuecheng Zhao Zhihui Chen Changsong Chen Jian Zhao 2022Beverage Plant Research2022,2,1:0
