2Tumor suppressor gene p16 and Rb expression in gastric cardia precancerouslesions from subjects at a high incidence area in northern China显示文摘AIM: To further understand the molecular basis for gastriccardia carcinogenesis and to provide etiological clues.METHODS: Endoscopic mucosa biopsy and histopathologicalexaminations were made on 37 subjects from a high incidencearea for both esophageal and gastric cardia carcinomas innorthem China. All the biopsy samples were fixed in 850 mi. -1 Lalcohol and embedded in paraffin. Each block contained onepiece of tissue and was serially section at 5 μm.Immunohistochemistry (ABC) was carried out on these gastriccardia samples to determine the alterations of p16 and Rb.RESULTS: Based on the histopathlogical examinationtherewere 11 cases of chronic superficial gastritis, 12 cases ofchronic atrophic gastritis and 14 cases of dysplasia. Theimmunostaining demonstrated different levels of unclearimmunostaining of p16 and Rb in normal gastric cardiatissue and the tissues with different severity of lesions. Withthe lesions progressing, the positive immunostaining ratesfor pi6 protein had a decreasing tendency. In contrast, thepositive immunostaining rate for Rb protein had anincreasing tendency. There was a significant negativerelationship between the two parameters. Changes of p16wasCSG 11(100 % ), CAG 7(58 % ), DYS 4(29 % ) andchanges of Rb was CSG 2(18 %), CAG 8(67 %) and DYS 12(86 %), (p<0.05).CONCLUSION: The alterations of p16 and Rb protein may playa role in the early stages of gastric cardia carcinogenesis.ZhouY GaoSS2002World Journal of Gastroenterology2002,8,3:18
3Effect of Dark Septate Endophytic Fungus Gaeumannomyces cylindrosporus on Plant Growth, Photosynthesis and Pb Tolerance of Maize (Zea mays L.)显示文摘Dark septate endophytic(DSE) fungi are ubiquitous and cosmopolitan, and occur widely in association with plants in heavy metal stress environment. However, little is known about the effect of inoculation with DSE fungi on the host plant under heavy metal stress.In this study, Gaeumannomyces cylindrosporus, which was isolated from Pb-Zn mine tailings in China and had been proven to have high Pb tolerance, was inoculated onto the roots of maize(Zea mays L.) seedlings to study the effect of DSE on plant growth, photosynthesis,and the translocation and accumulation of Pb in plant under stress of different Pb concentrations. The growth indicators(height, basal diameter, root length, and biomass) of maize were detected. Chlorophyll content, photosynthetic characteristics(net photosynthetic rate, transpiration rate, stomatal conductance, and intercellular CO_2 concentration), and chlorophyll fluorescence parameters in leaves of the inoculated and non-inoculated maize were also determined. Inoculation with G. cylindrosporus significantly increased height,basal diameter, root length, and biomass of maize seedlings under Pb stress. Colonization of G. cylindrosporus improved the efficiency of photosynthesis and altered the translocation and accumulation of Pb in the plants. Although inoculation with G. cylindrosporus increased Pb accumulation in host plants in comparison to non-inoculated plants, the translocation factor of Pb in plant body was significantly decreased. The results indicated that Pb was accumulated mainly in the root system of maize and the phytotoxicity of Pb to the aerial part of the plant was alleviated. 4Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi in Wetland Habitats and Their Application in Constructed Wetland: A Review显示文摘Over the last three decades, the presence and functional roles of arbuscular mycorrhizal(AM) fungi in wetland habitats have received increasing attention. This review summarized the mycorrhizal status in wetlands and the effect of flooding on AM fungal colonization. Plants of 99 families living in 31 different habitats have been found to be associated with AM fungi, even including submerged aquatic plants and several plant species that were thought to be nonmycorrhizal(Cyperaceae, Chenopodiaceae, and Plumbaginaceae). The functions of AM fungi in wetland ecological systems could be concluded as their influences on the composition,succession, and diversity of the wetland plant community, and the growth and nutrition of wetland plants. Affecting the composition,succession, and diversity of the wetland plant community, AM fungi have positive, negative, or neutral effects on the performance of different wetland species under different conditions. The factors that affect the application effect of AM fungi in constructed wetland(CW) include flooding, phosphorus, plant species, aerenchyma, salinity, CW types, operation modes of CW, and wastewater quality.The generalist AM fungi strains can be established spontaneously, rapidly, and extensively in wastewater bioremediation technical installations; therefore, AM fungi can be considered ideal inhabitants of technical installations for the plant-based bioremediation of groundwater contaminated by organic pollutants or other contaminants. 9The role of new ICTs in the sustainable development of industrial cluster:a case study of Yangxunqiao textile cluster显示文摘The wide application of new information and communication technologies(ICTs)has been argued to be critical in local economic development,while the application of new ICTs will affect the development of industrial cluster,especially those small and medium-sized enterprises(SMEs).This paper examines Yangxunqiao textile cluster located in Zhejiang Province as a case study to focus on the role of ICTs in the sustainable development.We argue ICTs application in firms boost flexible and customized production approach,improve e-commerce market channel and raise supply chain management.We also pay special attention to the spatial implication of ICTs adoption in industrial cluster,and suggest that application of ICTs tend to lead to further clustering of SMEs in the location with mature production chain.Our analysis shows that new ICTs are a facilitator in the sustainable development of the industrial cluster.Song Zhouying Mai Turong 2009Ecological Economy2009,5,4:2
