| 1 | Real-time flood forecasting of Huai River with flood diversion and retarding areas显示文摘A combination of the rainfall-runoff module of the Xin’anjiang model, the Muskingum routing method, the water stage simulating hydrologic method, the diffusion wave nonlinear water stage method, and the real-time error correction method is applied to the real-time flood forecasting and regulation of the Huai River with flood diversion and retarding areas. The Xin’anjiang model is used to forecast the flood discharge hydrograph of the upstream and tributary. The flood routing of the main channel and flood diversion areas is based on the Muskingum method. The water stage of the downstream boundary condition is calculated with the water stage simulating hydrologic method and the water stages of each cross section are calculated from downstream to upstream with the diffusion wave nonlinear water stage method. The input flood discharge hydrograph from the main channel to the flood diversion area is estimated with the fixed split ratio of the main channel discharge. The flood flow inside the flood retarding area is calculated as a reservoir with the water balance method. The faded-memory forgetting factor least square of error series is used as the real-time error correction method for forecasting discharge and water stage. As an example, the combined models were applied to flood forecasting and regulation of the upper reaches of the Huai River above Lutaizi during the 2007 flood season. | 2 | Allelopathic inhibition on red tide microalgae Skeletonema costatum by five macroalgal extracts显示文摘This study aims to identify effective antialgal allelochemicals from marine macroalgae that inhibit the growth of red tide microalgae.Practically,new algicidal agents were developed to control red tide.The growth inhibitory effects of 5 marine macroalgae Porphyra tenera,Laminaria japonica,Ulva pertusa,Enteromorpha clathrata,and Undaria pinnatifida on Skeletonema costatum were evaluated by adding crude seawater extracts of macroalgal dry tissue into the culture medium containing S.costatum.The half-effective concentrations at 120 h(EC_(50),120 h)of the seawater extracts were 0.6,0.9,1.0,1.0,and 4.7 g/L for the five macroalgae above,respectively.E.clathrata,L.japonica and U.pertusa showed strong allelopathic effect on the growth of S.costatum.There have been no previous reports with regard to the allelopathic effects of the former two macroalgae so far.The possible allelochemicals of 21 compounds of the E.clathrata were detected using Gas chromatography-mass spectrometry(GC-MS)analysis.Unsaturated fatty acids,acrylic acid(C_(3)H_(4)O_(2)),and linolenic acid(C_(18)H_(30)O_(2))were the most likely allelochemicals in E.clathrata. | Zhen AN Zhenyu WANG Fengmin LI Zhijia TIAN Hongying HU | 2008 | Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering2008,2,3: | 4 |
| 3 | Fiber guiding at the Dirac frequency beyond photonic bandgaps显示文摘Light trapping within waveguides is a key practice of modern optics,both scientifically and technologically.Photonic crystal fibers traditionally rely on total internal reflection(index-guiding fibers)or a photonic bandgap(photonic-bandgap fibers)to achieve field confinement.Here,we report the discovery of a new light trapping within fibers by the so-called Dirac point of photonic band structures.Our analysis reveals that the Dirac point can establish suppression of radiation losses and consequently a novel guided mode for propagation in photonic crystal fibers.What is known as the Dirac point is a conical singularity of a photonic band structure where wave motion obeys the famous Dirac equation.We find the unexpected phenomenon of wave localization at this point beyond photonic bandgaps.This guiding relies on the Dirac point rather than total internal reflection or photonic bandgaps,thus providing a sort of advancement in conceptual understanding over the traditional fiber guiding.The result presented here demonstrates the discovery of a new type of photonic crystal fibers,with unique characteristics that could lead to new applications in fiber sensors and lasers.The Dirac equation is a special symbol of relativistic quantum mechanics.Because of the similarity between band structures of a solid and a photonic crystal,the discovery of the Dirac-point-induced wave trapping in photonic crystals could provide novel insights into many relativistic quantum effects of the transport phenomena of photons,phonons,and electrons. | Kang Xie Wei Zhang Allan D Boardman Haiming Jiang Zhijia Hu Yong Liu Ming Xie Qiuping Mao Lei Hu Qian Li Tianyu Yang Fei Wen Erlei Wang | 2015 | Light(Science & Applications)2015,4,1: | 1 |

When fluorescent dyes are doped into the liquid crystal and heavily doped chiral agent system,we demonstrate a wavelength tuning random laser instead of a side-band laser, which is caused by the combined effect of multi-scattering of liquid crystal(LC) and band-gap control. | 6 | Wide tunable laser based on electrically regulated bandwidth broadening in polymer-stabilized cholesteric liquid crystal显示文摘Electrically responsive photonic crystals represent one of the most promising intelligent material candidates for technological applications in optoelectronics. In this research, dye-doped polymer-stabilized cholesteric liquid crystals(PSCLCs) with negative dielectric anisotropy were fabricated, and mirrorless lasing with an electrically tunable wavelength was successfully achieved. Unlike conventional liquid-crystal lasers, the proposed laser aided in tuning the emission wavelength through controlling the reflection bandwidth based on gradient pitch distribution. The principal advantage of the electrically controlled dye-doped PSCLC laser is that the electric field is applied parallel to the helical axis, which changes the pitch gradient instead of rotating the helix axis, thus keeping the heliconical structure intact during lasing. | 9 | Discussion on the limit recovery factor of carbon dioxide flooding in a permanent sequestration scenario显示文摘Based on practices of CO_(2) flooding tests in China and abroad,the recovery factor of carbon dioxide capture,utilization in displacing oil and storage(CCUS-EOR)in permanent sequestration scenario has been investigated in this work.Under the background of carbon neutrality,carbon dioxide injection into geological bodies should pursue the goal of permanent sequestration for effective carbon emission reduction.Hence,CCUS-EOR is an ultimate development method for oil reservoirs to maximize oil recovery.The limit recovery factor of CCUS-EOR development mode is put forward,the connotation differences between it and ultimate recovery factor and economically reasonable recovery factor are clarified.It is concluded that limit recovery factor is achievable with mature supporting technical base for the whole process of CCUS-EOR.Based on statistics of practical data of CO_(2) flooding projects in China and abroad such as North H79 block CO_(2) flooding pilot test at small well spacing in Jilin Oilfield etc.,the empirical relationship between the oil recovery factor of miscible CO_(2) flooding and cumulative CO_(2) volume injected is obtained by regression.Combined with the concept of oil production rate multiplier of gas flooding,a reservoir engineering method calculating CO_(2) flooding recovery factor under any miscible degree is established by derivation.It is found that when the cumulative CO_(2) volume injected is 1.5 times the hydrocarbon pore volume(HCPV),the relative deviation and the absolute difference between the recovery percentage and the limit recovery factor are less than 5%and less than 2.0 percentage points respectively.The limit recovery factor of CCUS-EOR can only be approached by large pore volume(PV)injection based on the technology of expanding swept volume.It needs to be realized from three aspects:large PV injection scheme design,enhancing miscibility degree and continuously expanding swept volume of injected CO_(2). | LIAO Guangzhi HE Dongbo WANG Gaofeng WANG Liangang WANG Zhengmao SU Chunmei QIN Qiang BAI Junhui HU Zhanqun HUANG Zhijia WANG Jinfang WANG Shengzhou | 2022 | Petroleum Exploration and Development2022,49,6: | 0 |
| 10 | Low-Complexity Digital Equalizers for High-Speed Underwater Optical Wireless Communication显示文摘Hundreds of Megabit per second(Mb/s)data transmission over a moderate range(10 m) underwater optical wireless channel is implemented with 4-level pulse amplitude modulation scheme using an off-the-shelf light-emitting diode as the optical source and digital equalizers. In particular, the channel nonlinear distortion from light-emitting diode is considered and a matched model is developed. To mitigate these distortions under various 4-level pulse amplitude modulation signal baud rates, the Bit error rate(BER) and Signal-to-noise ratio(SNR) performances of the pre-, post-and matchedequalizers are evaluated and compared. The digital matched-equalizer bank is shown and verified to offer the best BER/SNR performance for 4-level pulse amplitude modulation signal using more than 200 MBaud rate.
