1Synergistic effects of magnesium ions and simvastatin on attenuation of high-fat diet-induced bone loss显示文摘Introduction:Magnesium(Mg)has a prophylactic potential against the onset of hyperlipidemia.Similar to statin,Mg is recommended as lipid-lowering medication for hypercholesterolemia and concomitantly exhibits an association with increased bone mass. The combination of statin with Mg ions(Mg^(2+))may be able to alleviate the high-fat diet(HFD)-induced bone loss and reduce the side-effects of statin. This study aimed to explore the feasibility of combined Mg^(2+)with simvastatin(SIM)for treating HFD-induced bone loss in mice and the involving mechanisms.Materials and methods:C57BL/6 male mice were fed with a HFD or a normal-fat diet(NFD).Mice were intraperitoneally injected SIM and/or orally received water with additional Mg^(2+)until sacrificed.Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay was performed to measure cytokines and cholesterol in serum and liver lysates.Bone mineral density(BMD)and microarchitecture were assessed by micro-computed tomography(μCT)in different groups. The adipogenesis in palmitate pre-treated HepG2 cells was performed under various treatments. Results:μCT analysis showed that the trabecular bone mass was significantly lower in the HFD-fed group than that in NFD-fed group since week 8.The cortical thickness in HFD-fed group had a significant decrease at week 24,as compared with NFD-fed group. The combination of Mg^(2+)and SIM significantly attenuated the trabecular bone loss in HFD-fed mice via arresting the osteoclast formation and bone resorption.Besides, such combination also reduced the hepatocytic synthesis of cholesterol and inhibited matrix metallopeptidase 13(Mmp13)mRNA expression in pre-osteoclasts.Conclusions:The combination of Mg^(2+)and SIM shows a synergistic effect on attenuating the HFD-induced bone loss. Our current formulation may be a cost-effective alternative treatment to be indicated for obesity-related bone loss.Bingyang Dai Xu Li Jiankun Xu Yuwei Zhu Le Huang Wenxue Tong Hao Yao Dick Ho-kiu Chow Ling Qin 2021Bioactive Materials2021,6,8:4
2Blockchain-enabled wireless communications:a new paradigm towards 6G显示文摘With the deployment of fifth-generation(5 G)wireless networks worldwide, research on sixth-generation(6 G)wireless communications has commenced. It is expected that 6 G networks can accommodate numerous heterogeneous devices and infrastructures with enhanced efficiency and security over diverse,e.g.spectrum,computing and storage, resources. However, this goal is impeded by a number of trust-related issues that are often neglected in network designs.Blockchain,as an innovative and revolutionary technology that has arisen in the recent decade, provides a promising solution.Building on its nature of decentralization, transparency, anonymity, immutability, traceability and resiliency, blockchain can establish cooperative trust among separate network entities and facilitate,e.g.efficient resource sharing, trusted data interaction, secure access control, privacy protection, and tracing, certification and supervision functionalities for wireless networks, thus presenting a new paradigm towards 6 G.This paper is dedicated to blockchain-enabled wireless communication technologies. We first provide a brief introduction to the fundamentals of blockchain, and then we conduct a comprehensive investigation of the most recent efforts in incorporating blockchain into wireless communications from several aspects.Importantly,we further propose a unified framework of the blockchain radio access network(B-RAN)as a trustworthy and secure paradigm for 6 G networking by utilizing blockchain technologies with enhanced efficiency and security. The critical elements of B-RAN,such as consensus mechanisms, smart contract, trustworthy access, mathematical modeling,cross-network sharing, data tracking and auditing and intelligent networking, are elaborated. We also provide the prototype design of B-RAN along with the latest experimental results.Jiaheng Wang Xintong Ling Yuwei Le Yongming Huang Xiaohu You 2021National Science Review2021,8,9:4
3Antioxidant-enriched autologous biogel promoted diabetic wound healing by remodeling inherent posttraumatic inflammatory patterning and restoring compromised microenvironment homeostasis显示文摘Successful wound healing depends on the reconstruction of proper tissue homeostasis, particularly in the posttraumatic inflammatory tissue microenvironment.Diabetes jeopardizes tissues’immune homeostasis in cutaneous wounds, causing persistent chronic inflammation and cytokine dysfunction.Previously,we developed an autologous regeneration factor(ARF)technology to extract the cytokine composite from autologous tissue to restore immune homeostasis and promote wound healing. However, treatment efficacy was significantly compromised in diabetic conditions. Therefore,we proposed that a combination of melatonin and ARF,which is beneficial for proper immune homeostasis reconstruction, could be an effective treatment for diabetic wounds. Our research showed that the utilization of melatonin-mediated ARF biogel(AM gel)promoted diabetic wound regeneration at a more rapid healing rate.RNA-Seq analysis showed that AM gel treatment could restore more favorable immune tissue homeostasis with unique inflammatory patterning as a result of the diminished intensity of acute and chronic inflammation.Currently,AM gel could be a novel and promising therapeutic strategy for diabetic wounds in clinical practice through favorable immune homeostatic reconstructions in the tissue microenvironment and proper posttraumatic inflammation patterning.Yixi Yang Le Wang Yonglin Zhou Yijun He Shaozhang Lin Yuwei Zeng Yunhe Zhou Wei Li Zaopeng He Qi Zhao Lihao Chen Zijie Li Wenhao Wang Zhi-Yong Zhang 2022Regenerative Biomaterials2022,9,1:0
