Neighborhood, community and consumption:Study on the socio-spatial structure during two boosting epochs in Shanghai显示文摘The modernization of Shanghai has experienced two boosting periods. The first appeared in the 1930s,when it formed the civil society of Shanghai and initially facilitated the trade port into an international metropolis. The second started after the nation’s reform and opening-up,which attempted to promote the city into a global metropolis in the 2010s.In order to evaluate the socio-spatial transitions of communities in Shanghai during the process,Lilong historical neighborhoods in the 1930s and 2010s are successively chosen as research objects.Meanwhile, three specific neighborhoods in each period are selected for case study,so as to depict different symbiosis patterns of the socio-spatial structures under different spatiotemporal conditions by means of a cross-sectional analysis of the consumption level.By pointing out Shanghai in the 1930s was marked with social integration and local-based consumption, while it was inundated with administration tendency and global-oriented consumption in the 2010s,the article believes the dual integration of local-based and global-oriented consumptions is an alternative solution for Shanghai. Finally, the article proposes that Shanghai’s current urban regeneration should rely on the multi-centered symbiotic structure to create a compound network, during which territorial socio-spatial structures and basic living needs of the plebeian can be simultaneously preserved. | Xiang Zhou Yanbo Li Yuning Cheng | 2020 | Frontiers of Architectural Research2020,9,2: | 2
Noninvasive identificational diagnosis of diabetic nephropathy and non-diabetic renal disease based on clinical characteristics of Traditional Chinese Medicine symptom pattern and conventional medicine显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To study the clinical characteristics relating to differential diagnosis of diabetic nephropathy(DN) and non-diabetic renal disease(NDRD).METHODS:The subjects were patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM) complicated with chronic kidney disease(CKD).Western medical history data and Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM) symptom pattern were collected, and logistic regression was used to analyze.RESULTS:Blood deficiency pattern [odds ratio(OR) = 2.269,P = 0.017] and Qi stagnation pattern(OR = 1.999,P = 0.041) are independently related to DN.CONCLUSIONS:TCM factors blood deficiency pattern and Qi stagnation pattern are relating to differential diagnosis of DN and NDRD. | QU Yilun CHENG Haimei WANG Qian LI Shuang DUAN Shuwei FENG Zhe LI Weizhen JIANG Shuangshuang YANG Hongtao MAO Yonghui GENG Yanqiu LI Jijun LIU Yuning TIAN Jinzhou LIU Hongfang DONG Zheyi CHEN Xiangmei | 2023 | Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2023,43,3: | 1
3D printing of fine-grained aluminum alloys through extrusion-based additive manufacturing:Microstructure and property characterization显示文摘Additive manufacturing(AM)has the potential to transform manufacturing by enabling previously un-thinkable products, digital inventory and delivery, and distributed manufacturing. Here we presented an extrusion-based metal AM method(refer to“SoftTouch”depositionin thefiledpatent)thatis suitablefor making the metal feedstock flowable prior to the deposition through dynamic recrystallization induced grain refinement at elevated temperatures. The flowable metal was extruded out of the printer head like a paste for building dense metal parts with fine equiaxed grains and wrought mechanical properties.Off-the-shelf metal rods were used as feedstock and the printing process was completed in an open-air environment, avoiding pricy powders and costly inert or vacuum conditions. The resulting multi-layer de-posited 6061 aluminum alloys yield strength and ductility comparable to wrought 6061 aluminum alloys after the same T6 heat treatment. The extrusion-based metal AM method can also be advanced as green manufacturing technologies for fabricating novel alloys and composites, adding novel features to existing parts, repairing damaged metal parts, and welding advanced metals for supporting sustainable manufac-turing,in addition to being developed into a cost-effective manufacturing process for the fabrication of dense metal of complex structural forms. | Fengchao Liu Pingsha Dong Abdul Sayeed Khan Yuning Zhang Randy Cheng Alan Taub Zongyi Ma | 2023 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology2023,,8: | 1

Public park behaviour in Da Nans:An investigation into how open space is used显示文摘The provision of open space is seen as a feasible solution in mitigating the challenges of urbanization, which accomm odates the daily leisure activities of residents and contributes to sustainable developm ent. This study aims at understanding how users perceive open space in 29-3 Park in Da Nang,Vietnam. This understanding may help to adopt a better approach to development and improvements.More specifically,it focuses on identifying roles and attributes of the space and determ ining those elements which affect how users of the space gather, based on their perspective.Residents, behaviour param eters were identified and classified based on activities that occurred in this space, and were collected using a behavioural mapping survey method. The analysis of 20 in-depth interviews, and 287 question naires, show existing problems that need to be improved and detail 11 physical factors that have potential to impact on users'satisfaction. These results may have the potential to play an im portant role in assisting designers and administrators to create successful open space in urban areas of Vietnam or other developing countries in the future. | Duy Thinh Do Yuning Cheng Amir Shojai Ye Chen | 2019 | Frontiers of Architectural Research2019,8,4: | 1
Three-dimensional digital technology-assisted precise tumor resection and reconstruction of the femoral trochanter and postoperative functional recovery:a retrospective study显示文摘Background The trochanter of the femur is a common site for bone tumors. However, locating the specificboundary of bone tumor infiltration and determining the surgical method can be challenging. The objective of thisstudy was to review the diagnosis, treatment, and surgical outcomes of patients with tumors or tumor-like changesin the femoral trochanter after computer-assisted precise tumor resection and hip-preserving reconstruction ofthe trochanter. Methods From January 2005 to September 2020,11 patients with trochanteric tumors(aged:18–53 years;sixmales and five females)were treated in Guangzhou First People’s Hospital. The cases included aneurysmal bonecyst(n=1),giant cell tumor of bone(n=2),fibrous histiocytoma of bone(n=1),endochondroma(n=1),andfibrous dysplasia of bone(n=6).For patients with trochanteric tumors, computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging scanning were performed before operation to obtain two-dimensional image data of the lesion.Athree-dimensional digital model of bilateral lower limbs was reconstructed by computer technology, the boundary of tumor growth was determined by computer simulation, the process of tumor resection and reconstructionwas simulated, and the personalized guide template was designed.During the operation, the personalized guideplate guided the precise resection of the tumor, and the allogeneic bone was trimmed to match the shape of thebone defect. Results All 11 patients underwent accurate resection of the tumor or tumor-like lesion and reconstruction ofthe hip.In eight cases, the lesion was confined to the trochanter, which was fixed with large segment allogeneicbone, autologous iliac bone, and proximal femoral anatomic plate. In three cases, allogeneic bone, autologousiliac bone, and femoral reconstruction nail were used to fix the tumor under the trochanter.Postoperative Xray examination showed that the repair and reconstruction of the bone defect was effective, and callus bridgingbetween the allogenic bone and autogenous bone was observed 6 months after operation. All patients recoveredtheir walking function 3–6 months after operation. The duration of the follow-up period ranged from 6 monthsto 6 years.A patient experienced recurrence of endochondroma;pathological examination revealed chondrocyticsarcoma. The remaining 10 patients were treated with segmental resection and reconstruction. The operationtime ranged 2.5–4.5 h(average:3.2 h).Intraoperative blood loss ranged from 300 to 500 ml(average:368 ml).The local recurrence rate was 9.1%,and the overall survival rate was 100%.The average Musculoskeletal TumorSociety score was 27(excellent and good for eight and three patients, respectively). Conclusions Three-dimensional computer skeleton modeling and simulation-assisted resection and reconstruction of femoral trochanteric tumor is a new surgical technique, which might markedly improve the surgical effect, shorten the surgical time, increase the overall survival rate of patients with tumors, reduce the local recurrencerate, assist in the digitization and programming of femoral trochanteric tumor surgery, and improve surgicalaccuracy. | Yuanhai Tu Yuanhao Peng Xinghua Wen Yuning Wang Kang Liu Kai Cheng Han Yan | 2023 | Intelligent Medicine2023,3,4: | 0
