| 2 | Atomic-resolution studies on reactions between basal dislocations and {1012} coherent twin boundaries in a Mg alloy显示文摘Reactions between basal 〈a60〉 dislocations and {1012} coherent twin boundaries(CTBs) in a Mg alloy were studied with atomic resolution. Individual dislocation-CTB reactions produced steps with residual dislocations and multiple t winnin g dislocations(TDs) gliding away, consequently resulting in TB migration. Reactions between {1012} CTBs and low-angle grain boundaries composed of basal 〈a60〉 dislocations created either basal-prismatic/prismatic-basal interfaces or asymmetric tilt grain boundaries, depending on whether TDs gliding away or not. Not only the emission of TDs by dislocation-TB reactions may drive TB migration, but also the resultant steps or facets along TBs can act as TD sources to facilitate TB migration. Our results indicate that roughness or severe loss of local coherency induced by dislocation-TB reactions does not intrinsically impede TB migration in Mg alloys. | 3 | Integrated radiative and evaporative cooling beyond daytime passive cooling power limit显示文摘Radiative cooling technologies can passively gain lower temperature than that of ambient surroundings without consuming electricity,which has emerged as potential alternatives to traditional cooling methods.However,the limitations in daytime radiation intensity with a net cooling power of less than 150 W·m^(−2) have hindered progress toward commercial practicality.Here,we report an integrated radiative and evaporative chiller(IREC)based on polyacrylamide hydrogels combined with an upper layer of breathable poly(vinylidene fluoride-co-trifluoroethylene)fibers,which achieves a record high practical average daytime cooling power of 710 W·m^(−2).The breathable fiber layer has an average emissivity of over 76%in the atmospheric window,while reflecting 90%of visible light.This IREC possesses effective daytime radiative cooling while simultaneously ensuring evaporative cooling capability,enhancing daytime passive cooling effectively.As a result,IREC presents the practicability for both personal cooling managements and industrial auxiliary cooling applications.An IREC-based patch can assist in cooling human body by 13℃ low for a long term and biocompatible use,and IREC can maintain the temperature of industrial storage facilities such as oil tanks at room temperature even under strong sunlight irradiation.This work delivers the highest performance daytime passive cooling by simultaneous infrared radiation and water evaporation,and provides a new perspective for developing highly efficient,scalable,and affordable passive cooling strategy. | Houze Yao Huhu Cheng Qihua Liao Xuanzhang Hao Kaixuan Zhu Yajie Hu Liangti Qu | 2023 | Nano Research Energy2023,2,2: | 2 |
| 4 | Graphene Oxide Assemblies for Sustainable Clean-Water Harvesting and Green-Electricity Generation显示文摘CONSPECTUS:The urgent problems of water scarcity and the energy crisis have given rise to the development of a range of sustainable technologies with the great advancement of nanotechnologies and advent of attractive nanomaterials.Graphene oxides(GO),a derivative of graphene with an atom-thin thickness and abundant oxygen-containing functional groups(such as−OH,−COOH),are water-soluble and can be assembled into a variety of structures(such as fiber,membrane,and foam)with great potential in environmental and energy-related fields.As a typical precursor of graphene,GO can be easily reduced to graphene by chemical or thermal treatments to demonstrate excellent photothermal properties as well as tunable thermal conduction,which is highly desirable for efficient solar-driven water evaporation.The intrinsic large specific area of GO nanosheets can provide enough sites for ions adsorption and its porous assemblies facilitate the transport of water.In addition,the abundant functional groups allow the spontaneous adsorption of water molecules from the ambient environment and give birth to movable ions(usually protons)under the solvation effect.Once a chemical gradient is formed on the component,a remarkable electricity is generated from the directional transport of protons.Thanks to the excellent chemical properties of GO nanosheets,a wide range of assemblies with 1D aligned fibers,2D layered membranes and 3D porous foam can be easily fabricated by wet-spinning,solution-filtration,and freezingdrying methods.The various GO assemblies are able to exhibit abundant functions with remarkable weaving capability for GO fibers,superior flexibility for GO membranes,and exceptional adsorption capacity for GO foams.In light of all the advantages,GO and its assemblies are remarkably promising in the fields of sustainable development to meet the pressing challenges of water and energy crisis.In this Account,we will discuss the progress of clean-water production and green-electricity generation technologies based on GO assemblies.The fundamental working mechanism,optimization strategies,and promising applications are explored with an emphasis on the materials development.We also discuss the functions of GO assemblies in the water and electricity generation process and present their limitations and possible solutions.Current challenges and promising directions for the development of clean-water production and green-electricity generation are also demonstrated for their realistic implementations.We anticipate that this Account would promote more efforts toward fundamental research on graphene functionalization and encourage a broad exploration on the application of graphene assemblies in clean-water production and electric power generation systems. | Yaxin Huang Chengzhi Wang Changxiang Shao Boyu Wang Nan Chen Haibo Jin Huhu Cheng Liangti Qu | 2021 | Accounts of Materials Research2021,2,2: | 2 |
| 5 | Synergistic effects of Mg-substitution and particle size of chicken eggshells on hydrothermal synthesis of biphasic calcium phosphate nanocrystals显示文摘Magnesium(Mg^2+))ion plays important roles in biomineralization of bone,teeth and calcium carbonate skeletons.Herein,chicken eggshells mainly comprising of Mg-calcite nanocrystals(Mg/(Mg+Ca)2.0 mol.%)were used to fabricate biphasic calcium phosphate(BCP),a mixture of hydroxyapatite(HA)and p-tricalcium phosphate(p-TCP)nanocrystals,through hydrothermal reactions at 200℃for 24 h.Our results indicated thatβ-TCP nanocrystals formed through the ion-exchange reactions of Mg-calcite,while HA nanocrystals were mainly produced by dissolution-reprecipitation reactions on the surfaces of eggshell samples in the hydrothermal system.Mg substitution in calcite resulted in formation ofβ-TCP nanocrystals instead of HA crystals through ion-exchange reactions.BCP samples with different compositions(28.6-77.8 wt.%β-TCP)were produced by controlling particle sizes of eggshells for hydrothermal reactions.The larger particles lead to the larger proportion ofβ-TCP in the BCP composition.Therefore,Mg substitution and particle size had synergetic effects on the hydrothermal synthesis of BCP using chicken eggshells through balance of ion-exchange and dissolution-reprecipitation reactions.Cell culture results showed that the BCP products were non-cytotoxic to MC3 T3-E1 cells,which may be used for bone substitute materials in future. | Wei Cui Qibin Song Huhu Su Zhiqing Yang Rui Yang Na Li Xing Zhang | 2020 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology2020,36,1: | 2 |

| 13 | Tree-ring δ^(15)N of Qinghai spruce in the central Qilian Mountains of China:Is pre-treatment of wood samples necessary?显示文摘A knowledge of the tree-ring stable nitrogen isotope ratio(δ^(15)N)can deepen our understanding of forest ecosystem dynamics by indicating the long-term availability,cycling and sources of nitrogen(N).However,the radial mobility of N blurs the interannual variations in the long-term N records.Previous studies of the chemical extraction of tree rings before analysis had produced inconsistent results and it is still unclear whether it is necessary to pre-treat wood samples from specific tree species to remove soluble N compounds before determining theδ^(15)N values.We compared the effects of pre-treatment with organic solvents and hot ultrapure water on the N concentration andδ^(15)N of tree rings from endemic Qinghai spruce(Picea crassifolia)growing in the interior of the central Qilian Mountains,China,during the last 60 a.We assessed the effects of different preparation protocols on the removal of the labile N compounds and investigated the need to pre-treat wood samples before determining theδ^(15)N values of tree rings.Increasing trends of the tree-ring N concentration were consistently observed in both the extracted and unextracted wood samples.The total N removed by extraction with organic solvents was about 17.60%,with a significantly higher amount in the sapwood section(P<0.01).Theδ^(15)N values of tree rings decreased consistently from 1960 to 2019 in both the extracted and unextracted wood samples.Extraction with organic solvents increased theδ^(15)N values markedly by about 5.2‰and reduced the variations in theδ^(15)N series.However,extraction with hot ultrapure water had little effect,with only a slight decrease in theδ^(15)N values of about 0.5‰.Our results showed that the radial pattern in the inter-ring movement of N in Qinghai spruce was not minimized by extraction with either organic solvents or hot ultrapure water.It is unnecessary to conduct hot ultrapure water extraction for the wood samples from Qinghai spruce because of its negligible effect on the removal of the labile N.Theδ^(15)N variation trend of tree rings in the unextracted wood samples was not influenced by the heartwood-sapwood transition zone.We suggest that theδ^(15)N values of the unextracted wood samples of the climate-sensitive Qinghai spruce could be used to explore the ecophysiological dynamics while focusing on the long-term variations. | WANG Ziyi LIU Xiaohong WANG Keyi ZENG Xiaomin ZHANG Yu GE Wensen KANG Huhu LU Qiangqiang | 2022 | Journal of Arid Land2022,14,6: | 1 |

| 18 | Sesame oil determination by solid-phase extraction and liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry显示文摘Authenticity of blended oil has drawn increasing attentions. In this study, sesamin was selected as marker of sesame oil to verify authentication of blended oil with sesame oil on label. A simple method based on liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) combined with solid-phase extraction (SPE) was used to detect sesamin. It has high sensitivity with low limit of detection (LOD) and limit of quantification (LOQ) being 20 ng/mL and 70 ng/mL respectively. Recoveries from 80.16% to 102.50% in 4 different oils indicated it’s reliable to quantify sesamin in edible oil. Four blended oils were used as validation samples and results showed this method could effectively detect whether sesame oil exists.
