2Prognostic value of preoperative prognostic nutritional index and its associations with systemic inflammatory response markers in patients with stage Ⅲ colon cancer显示文摘Background: The prognostic nutritional index(PNI) has been widely applied for predicting survival outcomes of patients with various malignant tumors. Although a low PNI predicts poor prognosis in patients with colorectal cancer after tumor resection, the prognostic value remains unknown in patients with stage Ⅲ colon cancer undergoing curative tumor resection followed by adjuvant chemotherapy. This study aimed to investigate the prognostic value of PNI in patients with stage III colon cancer.Methods: Medical records of 274 consecutive patients with stage Ⅲ colon cancer undergoing curative tumor resection followed by adjuvant chemotherapy with oxaliplatin and capecitabine between December 2007 and December2013 were reviewed. The optimal PNI cutoff value was determined using receiver operating characteristic(ROC) curve analysis. The associations of PNI with systemic inflammatory response markers, including lymphocyte-to-monocyte ratio(LMR), neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio(NLR), platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio(PLR), and C-reactive protein(CRP)level, and clinicopathologic characteristics were assessed using the Chi square or Fisher's exact test. Correlation analysis was performed using Spearman's correlation coefficient. Disease-free survival(DFS) and overall survival(OS)stratified by PNI were analyzed using Kaplan-Meier method and log-rank test, and prognostic factors were identified by Cox regression analyses.Results: The preoperative PNI was positively correlated with LMR(r= 0.483, P < 0.001) and negatively correlated with NLR(r =-0.441, P < 0.001), PLR(r =-0.607, P < 0.001), and CRP level(r =-0.333, P < 0.001). A low PNI(≤49.22)was significantly associated with short OS and DFS in patients with stage ⅢC colon cancer but not in patients with stage ⅢA/ⅢB colon cancer.In addition, patients with a low PNI achieved a longer OS and DFS after being treated with6-8 cycles of adjuvant chemotherapy than did those with < 6 cycles. 3Using balance of seasonal herbage supply and demand to inform sustainable grassland management on the Qinghai–Tibetan Plateau显示文摘To mitigate the impacts of grassland degradation on the Qinghai–Tibetan Plateau(QTP), in recent decades China has been implementing large-scale conservation programs and has invested about 42 billion CNY(7 billion USD). However, these programs are faced with major challenges involving trade-offs between ecological function, livestock production and income of pastoralists.Scientific assessments, as well as technical and policy issues, have not fully captured the complex ecological,social and economic dynamics of the challenges facing grassland management on the QTP. Pastoral livestock production on the QTP is characterized by imbalance in both quality and quantity between livestock seasonal nutrient requirements and herbage production, which forces pastoralists to keep larger numbers of livestock for longer periods, leading to overgrazing. 4Vitamin B2 functionalized iron oxide nanozymes for mouth ulcer healing显示文摘Mouth ulcer is associated with inflammation and high risk of bacterial infection, which aggravates the patient's condition.Currently, there is no effective treatment for mouth ulcer. Herein, we report that vitamin-modified iron oxide nanoparticles improve the healing of mouth ulcer through anti-inflammation and antibacterial activities. We discovered that vitamin B2(VB2)modified iron oxide nanoparticles performed enhanced peroxidase-like, catalase-like, and superoxide dismutase(SOD)-like activities, acting as typical iron oxide nanozymes(IONzymes) with triad activities. In particular, VB2 modification significantly improved the SOD-like activity, thus providing a reactive oxygen species(ROS)-scavenging ability. Cellular antioxidant experiments showed that vitamin B2 modified IONzymes(VB2-IONzymes) protect human oral keratinocytes(HOK) and BALB/3 T3 cells from hydrogen peroxide(H2O2), and these cells have high biocompatibility to eukaryotic cells. In addition, VB2-IONzymes exerted an antibacterial activity against Streptococcus mutans, Staphylococcus aureus, and Escherichia coli. Importantly, VB2-IONzymes accelerated the recovery of mouth ulcer and reduced the local secretion of inflammatory factors in mouse ulcer model via ROS scavenging and antibacterial activity. 7Granite landform characteristics,distribution and evolution patterns in Huangshan Mt.显示文摘The various types of granite landforms in the Huangshan Mt. are distributed in a concentric pattern. The remaining parts of the planation surface are in the center; domical peaks, castle peaks, pointed peaks, and ridges are arranged from the center to the periphery accordingly. This reveals that knick points are still near the center and the center area is the common divide of the radial water system. It is inferred that the granite bodies in the Huangshan Mt. were exposed to erosion in Miocene and Pliocene, and the planation surface was also formed then. After the slight uplift in late Pliocene, a light-incised surface was formed. Then, in early Quaternary, there were intense uplifts and incisions so that deep incised surface was formed. The above process is still in progress, and results in high peaks and deep gorges outside of the center area. 8Much late onset of Quaternary glaciations on the Tibetan Plateau:determining the age of the Shishapangma Glaciation using cosmogenic 26Al and 10Be dating显示文摘The onset of Quaternary glaciations is a critical event in the climate and tectonic history of the Tibetan Plateau.The Shishapangma Glaciation,defined based on the till deposit from the northern slopes of Mt.Shishapangma,has been identified as the oldest glaciation on the Tibetan Plateau.However,the timing of this glaciation has not been constrained.We measured^(10)Be and^(26)Al concentrations of a set of boulders on top of this till and simulated their complex exposure-burial histories.The simulated results indicate that the formation age of this till is likely around 835.2±241.0 ka,representing the minimum timing of glacial onset on the Tibetan Plateau.The Shishapangma Glaciation is apparently much younger than the glacial onset in many other areas of the world,such as Europe and North America,and was likely driven by the coupled effect between tectonic uplift and climate cooling during the early–middle Pleistocene transition.Yixin Chen Yingkui Li Mei Zhang Zhijiu Cui Gengnian Liu 2018Science Bulletin2018,63,5:7

11Advances and prospects of PVDF based polymer electrolytes显示文摘Exploring highly foldable batteries with no safety hazard is a crucial task for the realization of portable,wearable,and implantable electric devices.Given these concerns,developing solid-state batteries is one of the most promising routes to achieve this aspiration.Because of the excellent flexibility and processability,polyvinylidene fluoride(PVDF) based electrolytes possess great potential to pack high energy density flexible batteries,however,suffers the various intrinsic shortcomings such as inferior ionic conductivity,a high degree of crystallinity,and lack of reactive groups.Clearing the progress of the present state and concluding the specific challenges faced by PVDF based electrolytes will help to develop PVDF based polymer batteries.In this review,we summarize the recent progress of gel polymer electrolytes and all solid polymer electrolytes based on PVDF.The ion transport mechanisms and preparation methods of PVDF based electrolytes are briefly introduced.Meanwhile,the current design principle and properties of electrolytes are highlighted and systematically discussed.Some peculiar modified strategies performed in lithium-sulfur batteries and lithium-oxygen batteries are also included.Finally,this review describes the challenges and prospects of some solid-state electrolytes to provide strategies for manufacturing high-performance PVDF electrolytes aimed at practical application with flexible requirements.Yixin Wu Yu Li Yang Wang Qian Liu Qingguo Chen Minghua Chen 2022Journal of Energy Chemistry2022,31,1:5
12Imaging energetic electron spectrometer onboard a Chinese navigation satellite in the inclined GEO orbit显示文摘The energetic electron measurement is one of the most important issues to understand dynamics in space physics and the applications for space weather. In this study, the principle and functional components of the imaging energetic electron spectrometer(IES) onboard a Chinese navigation satellite in the inclined GEO orbit(IGSO) was introduced. The IES instrument is developed by the team in Peking University(BeiDa), thus it is named as BD-IES. Based on the pin-hole technique, the instrument can measure 50–600 keV electrons incident from 9 directions over a range of 180° in polar angle. With pulse height analysis(PHA), the spectrum can be determined for each direction. The energy and angular calibrations were performed, which show the good energy and angular characteristics of BD-IES. Monte Carlo simulations show that the anti-proton design of BDIES can effectively decrease the proton contamination on the electron measurements in the inclined GEO orbit. 14Time-domain terahertz optoacoustics: manipulable water sensing and dampening显示文摘Radiation at terahertz frequencies can be used to analyze the structural dynamics of water and biomolecules,but applying the technique to aqueous solutions and tissues remains challenging since terahertz radiation is strongly absorbed by water.While this absorption enables certain analyses,such as the structure of water and its interactions with biological solutes,it limits the thickness of samples that can be analyzed,and it drowns out weaker signals from biomolecules of interest.We present a method for analyzing water-rich samples via time-domain terahertz optoacoustics over a 104-fold thickness ranging from microns to centimeters.We demonstrate that adjusting the temperature to alter the terahertz optoacoustic(THz-OA)signal of water improves the sensitivity with which it can be analyzed and,conversely,can reduce or even“silence”its signal.Temperature-manipulated THz-OA signals of aqueous solutions allow detection of solutes such as ions with an order of magnitude greater sensitivity than terahertz time-domain spectroscopy,and potentially provide more characteristic parameters related to both terahertz absorption and ultrasonic propagation.Terahertz optoacoustics may be a powerful tool for spectroscopy and potential imaging of aqueous solutions and tissues to explore molecular interactions and biochemical processes.Jiao Li Yixin Yao Liwen Jiang Shuai Li Zhihao Yi Xieyu Chen Zhen Tian Weili Zhang 2021Advanced Photonics2021,3,2:4

17Experimental study on the effects of drying methods on the stabilities of lignite显示文摘The drying processes are always applied prior to the transportation or utilization of lignite, and result in notable changes in the stabilities of lignite. In this paper, the study on the effects of nitrogen and MTE drying process on the physico-chemical properties and stabilities of Zhaotong lignite was carried out. The briquettes produced by MTE drying in this study were 150 mm in dimension, and so had a much larger particle size than nitrogendried samples. Nitrogen adsorption, mercury intrusion porosimetry and scanning electron microscopy all suggested that drying was accompanied by the transformation of larger pores into smaller ones. Compared to nitrogen drying, the pore structures could be stabilized by the MTE process. The soluble salts were removed during MTE drying which resulted in the decrease in ash and the concentrations of some of the major metals.The removal of water enhanced the hydrophilicity of nitrogen dried samples, but did not affect the hydrophilicity of MTE dried samples. The moisture holding capacity of MTE dried samples reduced faster than nitrogen dried samples with the decrease of residual moisture content. The moisture readsorption processes of MTE dried samples were strongly inhibited due to the much larger particle size of sample produced by MTE drying than nitrogen drying. The susceptibility to spontaneous combustion, indicated by cross point temperature and self-heating tests, of nitrogen and MTE dried samples increased with the decrease of residual moisture content. The MTE dried samples are more liable to spontaneous combustion than nitrogen dried samples with the same residual moisture and particle size. 18Incidence and prevalence of moyamoya disease in urban China: a nationwide retrospective cohort study显示文摘Background and objective Moyamoya disease(MMD)is an increasingly recognised cause of stroke,mainly described in East Asia.China is the largest nation in Asia,but few studies reported the epidemiology of MMD,especially at a national level.We aimed to estimate the incidence and prevalence of MMD in China.Methods We performed a population-based study using data from the national databases of Urban Basic Medical Insurance between 2013 and 2016,covering approximately 0.50 billion individuals.MMD cases were identified by diagnostic code(International Classification of Diseases,10th Revision I67.5)or related diagnostic text.Results A total of 1987 MMD patients(mean age 44.45±14.30 years,female-to male ratio 1.12)were identified,representing a national crude incidence of 0.59(95%CI:0.49 to 0.68)and a prevalence of 1.01(95%CI:0.81 to 1.21)per 100000 person-years in 2016.Rates were higher in females than in males for the incidence(0.66 vs 0.52)and prevalence(1.05 vs 0.90).And the age-specific rates showed a bimodal distribution,with the highest peak in middle-aged group and the second peak in child group.Conclusions Our results confirm that MMD is relatively common in East Asians,but the rates in China were lower than those in other East Asian countries such as Japan and Korea.The unique epidemiological features,including a relatively weak female predominance and a shift in the highest peak of incidence from children to adults,revealed new sight into MMD.Further research is expected to explore the potential pathogenesis of MMD.Yixin Sun Guoyu Zhou Jingnan Feng Lu Chen Guozhen Liu Jinxi Wang Qingliang Wang Junyou Yu Xiwang Yang Zheng Yang Pei Gao Shengfeng Wang Siyan Zhan 2021Stroke & Vascular Neurology2021,6,4:4
19Molecular mechanism mediating enteric bacterial translocation after severe burn:the role of cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator显示文摘Background:Gut ischemia and hypoxia post severe burn leads to breakdown of intestinal epithelial barrier and enteric bacterial translocation(EBT),resulting in serious complications,such as systemic inflammatory response syndrome,sepsis and multiple organ failure.Cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator(CFTR)is known to be downregulated by hypoxia and modulate junctional complexes,which are crucial structures maintaining the intestinal barrier.This study aimed to investigate whether CFTR plays a role in both regulating the intestinal barrier and mediating EBT post severe burn,as well as the signaling pathways involved in these processes.Methods:An in vitro Caco-2 cell model subjected to hypoxic injury and an in vivo mouse model with a 30%total body surface area full-thickness dermal burn were established.DF 508 mice(mice with F508del CFTR gene mutation)were used as an in vivo model to further demonstrate the role of CFTR in maintaining normal intestinal barrier function.QRT-PCR,western blot,ELISA,TER assay and immunofluorescence staining were used to detect the expression and localization of CFTR and tight junction proteins,as well as the function of tight junctions.Results:Our data indicated that,in Caco-2 cells,the hypoxia condition significantly reduced CFTR expression;activated extracellular signal-regulated kinase and nuclear factor-κB signaling;elevated secretion of inflammatory factors(tumor necrosis factor-α,interleukin-1βand interleukin-8);downregulated zonula occludens-1,occludin and E-cadherin expression;decreased transepithelial electrical resistance values;and led to a cellular mislocation of ZO-1.More importantly,knockdown of CFTR caused similar alterations.The upregulation of inflammatory factors and downregulation of tight junction proteins(ZO-1 and occludin)induced by knockdown of CFTR could be reversed by specific extracellular signal-regulated kinase or nuclear factor-κB inhibition.In support of the in vitro data,exuberant secretion of pro-inflammatory mediators and EBT was observed in the intestine of severely burnt mice in vivo.EBT occurred in DF508 mice(mice with the F508del CFTR gene mutation),accompanied by augmented tumor necrosis factor-α,interleukin-1βand interleukin-8 levels in the ileum compared to wildtype mice.In addition,vitamin D3 was shown to protect the intestinal epithelial barrier from hypoxic injury.Conclusions:Collectively,the present study illustrated that CFTR and downstream signaling were critical in modulating the intestinal epithelial junction and EBT post severe burn.Xinzhu Liu Yu Chen Bo You Yuan Peng Yajie Chen Zichen Yang Yixin Zhang Jing Chen 2021Burns & Trauma2021,9,1:4
20rAAV/ABAD-DP-6His attenuates oxidative stressinduced injury of PC12 cells显示文摘Our previous studies have revealed that amyloid β(Aβ)-binding alcohol dehydrogenase(ABAD) decoy peptide antagonizes Aβ42-induced neurotoxicity. However, whether it improves oxidative stress injury remains unclear. In this study, a recombinant adenovirus constitutively secreting and expressing Aβ-ABAD decoy peptide(rAAV/ABAD-DP-6His) was successfully constructed. Our results showed that rAAV/ABAD-DP-6His increased superoxide dismutase activity in hydrogen peroxide-induced oxidative stress-mediated injury of PC12 cells. Moreover, rAAV/ABADDP-6His decreased malondialdehyde content, intracellular Ca2+ concentration, and the level of reactive oxygen species. rAAV/ABAD-DP-6His maintained the stability of the mitochondrial membrane potential. In addition, the ATP level remained constant, and apoptosis was reduced.
