1Sustainable Practice in Pavement Engineering through Value-Added Collective Recycling of Waste Plastic and Waste Tyre Rubber显示文摘Waste plastics,such as waste polyethylene terephthalate(PET)beverage bottles and waste rubber tyres are major municipal solid wastes,which may lead to various environmental problems if they are not appropriately recycled.In this study,the feasibility of collectively recycling the two types of waste into performance-increasing modifiers for asphalt pavements was analyzed.This study aimed to investigate the recycling mechanisms of waste PET-derived additives under the treatment of two amines,triethylenetetramine(TETA)and ethanolamine(EA),and characterize the performances of these additives in modifying rubberized bitumen,a bitumen modified by waste tyre rubber.To this end,infrared spectroscopy and thermal analyses were carried out on the two PET-derived additives(PET–TETA and PET–EA).In addition,infrared spectroscopy,viscosity,dynamic shear rheology,and multiple stress creep recovery tests were performed on the rubberized bitumen samples modified by the two PET-derived additives.We concluded that waste PET can be chemically upcycled into functional additives,which can increase the overall performance of the rubberized bitumen.The recycling method developed in this study not only helps alleviate the landfilling problems of both waste PET plastic and scrap tyres,but also turns these wastes into value-added new materials for building durable pavements.Xiong Xu Zhen Leng Jingting Lan Wei Wang Jiangmiao Yu Yawei Bai Anand Sreeram Jing Hu 2021Engineering2021,7,6:7
2Presence of organophosphate flame retardants(OPEs)in different functional areas in residential homes in Beijing,China显示文摘The production and application of organophosphate esters(OPEs)have dramatically increased in recent years due to their use as a replacement for brominated flame retardants.In this study,13 OPEs(∑_(13)OPEs)were analyzed in indoor air samples from kitchens and living rooms in 14 residential homes in Beijing,China.The concentrations of ∑_(13)OPEs in kitchen air samples(mean:13 ng/m^(3))were significantly(p<0.05)higher than in living room air samples(5.0 ng/m^(3)).In addition,paired window surface organic film samples were collected and analyzed to investigate film-air partitioning,exhibiting a mean concentration of ∑_(13)OPEs of 4100 ng/m^(2).The congener profiles showed that tris(2-chloroisopropyl)phosphate(TCPP)was the predominant compound in both window film samples(48%)and the corresponding indoor air sample(56%).The estimated daily intakes(EDI)of OPEs via indoor air inhalation were 2.8 and 1.4 ng/kg/day for infants and adults,respectively,both of which are below the reference dose values(RfDs).Overall,these findings indicate that OPEs in the indoor air environment of residential homes in Beijing are not likely to pose a health risk to the general population.Kun Lv Lu Bai Boyu Song Xindong Ma Minmin Hou Jie Fu Yali Shi Yawei Wang Guibin Jiang 2022Journal of Environmental Sciences2022,34,5:1

4Electromagnetic modelling using T-A formulation for high-temperature superconductor (RE)Ba2Cu3Ox high field magnets显示文摘Second generation(2G)high-temperature superconductor(HTS)(RE)Ba2Cu3Ox(REBCO)shows a great potential in building high field magnets beyond 23.5 T.The electromagnetic modelling is vital for the design of HTS magnet,however,this always suffers the challenge of huge computation for high field magnets with large number of turns.This study presents a novel electromagnetic modelling based on T-A formulation for REBCO magnets with thousands of turns.An equivalent turn method is proposed to reduce the number of turns in calculation,so that the computation cost can be reduced significantly,and meanwhile the key electromagnetic behaviour of HTS magnet can be simulated with enough accuracy.The ramping operation of a fully HTS magnet with 12,000 turns are analysed using both the original T-A model with actual turns and improved T-A model with equivalent turns.The two models show a good agreement on the key electromagnetic behaviours of the magnet:distribution of current density,magnetic fields,screen current induced field and magnetisation loss,so that this improved T-A model using equivalent turns is validated.The T-A modelling of REBCO magnet is a powerful tool for the electromagnetic analysis of industry-scale high field magnets.Yawei Wang Hongyu Bai Jianwei Li Min Zhang Weijia Yuan 2020High Voltage2020,5,2:0
