1Generative Adversarial Networks:Introduction and Outlook显示文摘Recently, generative adversarial networks(GANs)have become a research focus of artificial intelligence. Inspired by two-player zero-sum game, GANs comprise a generator and a discriminator, both trained under the adversarial learning idea.The goal of GANs is to estimate the potential distribution of real data samples and generate new samples from that distribution.Since their initiation, GANs have been widely studied due to their enormous prospect for applications, including image and vision computing, speech and language processing, etc. In this review paper, we summarize the state of the art of GANs and look into the future. Firstly, we survey GANs' proposal background,theoretic and implementation models, and application fields.Then, we discuss GANs' advantages and disadvantages, and their development trends. In particular, we investigate the relation between GANs and parallel intelligence,with the conclusion that GANs have a great potential in parallel systems research in terms of virtual-real interaction and integration. 2Clinical study of ultrasound and microbubbles for enhancing chemotherapeutic sensitivity of malignant tumors in digestive system显示文摘Objective: To explore the safety of ultrasound and microbubbles for enhancing the chemotherapeutic sensitivity of malignant tumors in the digestive system in a clinical trial, as well as its efficacy.Methods: From October 2014 to June 2016, twelve patients volunteered to participate in this study. Eleven patients had hepatic metastases from tumors of the digestive system, and one patient had pancreatic carcinoma.According to the mechanical index(MI) in the ultrasound field, patients were classified into four groups with MIs of 0.4, 0.6, 0.8 and 1.0. Within half an hour after chemotherapy, patients underwent ultrasound scanning with ultrasound microbubbles(SonoVue) to enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy. All adverse reactions were recorded and were classified in 4 grades according to the Common Terminology Criteria for Adverse Events version 4.03(CTCAE V4.03). Tumor responses were evaluated by the Response Evaluation Criteria in Solid Tumors version1.1 criteria. All the patients were followed up until progression.Results: All the adverse reactions recorded were level 1 or level 2. No local pain occurred in any of the patients.Among all the adverse reactions, fever might be related to the treatment with ultrasound combined with microbubbles. Six patients had stable disease(SD), and one patient had a partial response(PR) after the first cycle of treatment. At the end of follow-up, tumor progression was restricted to the original sites, and no new lesions had appeared.Conclusions: Our preliminary data showed the potential role of a combined treatment with ultrasound and microbubbles in enhancing the chemotherapeutic sensitivity of malignant tumors of the digestive system. 3Control of endwall secondary flow in a compressor cascade with dielectric barrier discharge plasma actuation显示文摘Three dielectric barrier discharge plasma actuators were mounted at the positions of 20%,40%and 60%of chord length on the endwall in a compressor cascade.The downstream flow field of the cascade has been measured with a mini five-hole pressure probe with and without the plasma actuation.The measured results show that the plasma actuation most effectively reduces total pressure loss and flow blockage when the actuators are operated simultaneously.As each of the actuators is operated independently,the actuator at the position of 20%of chord length most effectively reduces flow blockage, and the actuator at the position of 60%of chord length fairly reduces total pressure loss.However, negative pressure loss reduction occurs with the plasma actuator at the position of 40%of chord length.In brief,the plasma actuation placed on the endwall in the cascade apparently influences the endwall secondary flow,and the optimal locations and strength of actuation are critical for the control of endwall secondary flow in a compressor cascade with the plasma actuators.LI Gang XU YanJi LIN Bin ZHU JunQiang NIE ChaoQun MA HongWei WANG ZhaoFeng 2009Science China(Technological Sciences)2009,52,12:5
4Elemental composition and risk assessment of heavy metals in the PM10 fractions of road dust and roadside soil显示文摘A total of 64 dust samples were analyzed to determine the size distribution and elemental composition of the PM10 fraction, including42 road dust(RD), 12 roadside soil(RSD), and 10 park road dust(PRD) samples. The mass of dust smaller than 20μm was dominated by particles sized 2.5-16 μm, which accounted for 85%, 88%, and 87% of the RD, PRD, and RSD, respectively. Additionally, crustal elements accounted for 30.14%, 36.35%, and 37.14% of the PMio fractions of the RD, RSD, and PRD, respectively. The most abundant trace elements in RD, RSD, and PRD were Zn, Mn, and Cu (range, 277 to 874 mg/kg). Moreover, the /geo values revealed all dusts were contaminated with Pb, Zn, Cu, Sb, Sn, and Cd. Health risk assessment showed that Mn, Ni, Cu, Zn, Cd, Sb, and Pb in the PM10 fraction of three types of dusts posed non-cancer risks to children but posed no non-cancer risk to adults. 5Hyposmotic membrane stretch potentiated muscarinic receptor agonist-induced depolarization of membrane potential in guinea-pig gastric myocytes显示文摘AIM: To investigate the relationship betweenhyposmotic membrane stretch and muscarinic receptoragonist-induced depolarization of membrane potentialin antral gastric circular myocytes of guinea-pig.METHODS: Using whole cell patch-clamp techniquerecorded membrane potential and current in singlegastric myocytes isolated by collagena se.RESULTS: Hyposmotic membrane stretch hyperpolarizedmembrane potential from -60.0mV±1.0mV to -67.9mV±1.0mV. TEA (10mmol/L), a nonselective potassiumchannel blocker significantly inhibited hyposmoticmembrane stretch-induced hyperpolarization. After KCIin the pipette and NaCI in the external solution werereplaced by CsCI to block the potassium current,hyposmotic membrane stretch depolarized the membranepotential from -60.0 mV±-1.0mV to -44.8 mV±2.3mV(P<0.05), and atropine (1 pmol/L) inhibited thedepolarization of the membrane potential. Muscarinicreceptor agonist Carbachol depolarized membranepotential from -60.0mV±1.0mV to -50.3 mV±0.3mV(P<0.05) and hyposmotic membrane stretchpotentiated the depolarization. 6Starch-based adhesive hydrogel with gel-point viscoelastic behavior and its application in wound sealing and hemostasis显示文摘Hydrogels with tissue adhesiveness have demonstrated great promise for wearable electronics,artificial skin,soft robotics,and tissue repair.Nevertheless,adhesive hydrogels that are capable of sealing and hemostasis of wound with severe hemorrhage still lack.For this purpose,a series of ionically crosslinked starch hydrogels were developed here.The viscoelastic properties and tissue adhesiveness of the starch hydrogels were investigated.It is shown that the starch and cross linkers had significant influence on the viscoelastic properties of the starch hydrogels,which further resulted in varied tissue adhesiveness.Among the starch gels,there was one exhibiting a unique and stable'Gel Point'viscoelastic characteristic and it was named as gel-point adhesive hydrogel(GPAH).GPAH showed electrical conductivity,high tissue adhesiveness,high stretch-ability,self-healing capability,injectability,and degradability.The GPAH also exhibited high cytocompatibility,low hemolysis risk,and strong antibacterial effect.The wound sealing and hemostatic performance of GPAH was further evaluated by a rat femoral artery injury model.The blood loss after the sealing of GPAH(2.4±1.3 g)was significantly decreased compared to the group using gauze for sealing(6.3±1.5 g).Meanwhile,GPAH did not cause pathological changes of the soft tissues surrounding the wound.The above results indicate that GPAH,with high tissue adhesiveness,suitable viscoelastic property,strong antibacterial capacity,as well as electro-conductivity,bears great potential for the applications in smart wound management.Yuxuan Mao Peng Li Jiewei Yin Yanjie Bai Huan Zhou Xiao Lin Huilin Yang Lei Yang 2021Journal of Materials Science & Technology2021,,4:3
7Effects of oxygen and water content on microbial distribution in the polyurethane foam cubes of a biofilter for SO_2 removal显示文摘The performance of a biofilter for off-gas treatment relies on the activity of microorganisms and adequate O_2 and H_2O. In present study, a microelectrode was applied to analyze O_2 in polyurethane foam cubes(PUFCs) packed in a biofilter for SO_2 removal. The O_2 distribution varied with the density and water-containing rate(WCR) of PUFCs. The O_2 concentration dropped sharply from 10.2 to 0.8 mg/L from the surface to the center of a PUFC with 97.20%of WCR. The PUFCs with high WCR presented aerobic–anoxic–aerobic areas.Three-dimensional simulated images demonstrated that the structure of PUFCs with high WCR consisted of an aerobic 'shell' and an anoxic 'core', with high-density PUFCs featuring a larger anoxic area than low-density PUFCs. Moreover, the H_2O distribution in the PUFC was uneven and affected the O_2 concentration. Whereas aerobic bacteria were observed in the PUFC surface, facultative anaerobic microorganisms were found at the PUFC core, where the O_2 concentration was relatively low. 16Consolidation treatment needed for sustained HBsAg-negative response induced by interferon-alpha in HBeAg positive chronic hepatitis B patients显示文摘Hepatitis B surface antigen(HBsAg)clearance is considered as functional cure in patients with chronic hepatitis B(CHB).This study aimed to assess the durability of HBsAg clearance achieved by interferon-based therapies in patients with CHB who were originally positive for hepatitis B envelope antigen(HBeAg).In this prospective study,HBeAg-positive CHB patients with confirmed HBsAg loss under interferon-based therapies were enrolled within 12 weeks from end of treatment and followed up for 48 weeks.Virological markers,biochemical indicators,and liver imaging examinations were observed every 3–6 months.Sustained functional cure was analysed as primary outcome.Factor associated with sustained HBsAg loss or reversion was also investigated.The rate of HBsAg loss sustainability was 91.8%(212/231).Patients receiving consolidation treatment for 12–24weeks or≥24 weeks had higher rates of sustained HBsAg negativity than those receiving consolidation treatment for<12 weeks(98.3%and 91.2%vs.86.7%,P=0.068),and the former groups had significantly higher anti-HBs levels than the later(P<0.05).The cumulative incidence of HBsAg reversion and HBV DNA reversion was 8.2%and 3.9%,respectively.Consolidation treatment of≥12 weeks[odd ratio(OR)3.318,95%confidence interval(CI)1.077–10.224,P=0.037)was a predictor of sustained functional cure,and HBeAg-positivity at cessation of treatment(OR 12.271,95%CI 1.076–139.919,P=0.043)was a predictor of HBsAg reversion.Interferon-alpha induced functional cure was durable and a consolidation treatment of≥12–24 weeks was needed after HBsAg loss in HBeAg-positive CHB patients.Minghui Li Fangfang Sun Xiaoyue Bi Yanjie Lin Liu Yang Yao Lu Lu Zhang Gang Wan Wei Yi Linqing Zhao Yao Xie 2022Virologica Sinica2022,37,3:1

18Deep learning model improves radiologists'performance in detection and classification of breast lesions显示文摘Objective:Computer-aided diagnosis using deep learning algorithms has been initially applied in the field of mammography,but there is no large-scale clinical application.Methods:This study proposed to develop and verify an artificial intelligence model based on mammography.Firstly,mammograms retrospectively collected from six centers were randomized to a training dataset and a validation dataset for establishing the model.Secondly,the model was tested by comparing 12 radiologists’performance with and without it.Finally,prospectively enrolled women with mammograms from six centers were diagnosed by radiologists with the model.The detection and diagnostic capabilities were evaluated using the freeresponse receiver operating characteristic(FROC)curve and ROC curve.Results:The sensitivity of model for detecting lesions after matching was 0.908 for false positive rate of 0.25 in unilateral images.The area under ROC curve(AUC)to distinguish the benign lesions from malignant lesions was0.855[95%confidence interval(95%CI):0.830,0.880].The performance of 12 radiologists with the model was higher than that of radiologists alone(AUC:0.852 vs.0.805,P=0.005).The mean reading time of with the model was shorter than that of reading alone(80.18 s vs.62.28 s,P=0.032).In prospective application,the sensitivity of detection reached 0.887 at false positive rate of 0.25;the AUC of radiologists with the model was 0.983(95%CI:0.978,0.988),with sensitivity,specificity,positive predictive value(PPV),and negative predictive value(NPV)of94.36%,98.07%,87.76%,and 99.09%,respectively.Conclusions:The artificial intelligence model exhibits high accuracy for detecting and diagnosing breast lesions,improves diagnostic accuracy and saves time.Yingshi Sun Yuhong Qu Dong Wang Yi Li Lin Ye Jingbo Du Bing Xu Baoqing Li Xiaoting Li Kexin Zhang Yanjie Shi Ruijia Sun Yichuan Wang Rong Long Dengbo Chen Haijiao Li Liwei Wang Min Cao 2021Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2021,33,6:1
19Distribution of per-and polyfluoroalkyl substances in blood,serum,and urine of patients with liver cancer and associations with liver function biomarkers显示文摘Studies have shown that per-and polyfluoroalkyl substances(PFASs)may be hepatotoxic in animals or humans.However,data on clinical epidemiology are very limited.In this study,21PFASs were determined in patients with liver diseases,with the highest median concentrations detected in the serum sample(26.7 ng/mL),followed by blood(10.7 ng/mL)and urine(5.02 ng/mL).Higher total PFAS concentrations were found in hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)patients compared to non-HCC patients,with significant discrepancies in serum and blood samples.Besides,significant correlations were also found among PFAS concentrations and age,gender,body mass index(BMI),and liver function biomarkers levels.For example,PFAS concentrations are significantly higher in males than in females;Several serum PFASs concentrations increase with age and BMI,while the serum perfluorohexane sulfonic acid(PFHxS)concentrations are negatively correlated with age.In addition,multiple regression models adjusted for age,gender and BMI found that increased serum perfluorobutane sulfonic acid(PFBS),perfluoroheptane sulfonic acid(PFHpS)and perfluorohexylphosphonic acid(PFHxPA)conentrations are correlated with elevated alkaline phosphatase(ALP),aspartate aminotransferase(AST),and alpha-fetoprotein(AFP)(p<0.05).Our results provide epidemiological support for the future study on the potential clinical hepatotoxicity of PFAS.Cao Dai Lin Peng Yanjie Li Zhendong Li Da Chen Fei Wang Nan Lin 2024Journal of Environmental Sciences2024,,5:0
20Modeling the Damage and Self-healing Behaviors of Plasticized PVC Gels显示文摘Plasticized polyvinyl chloride(PVC)gel is a type of electroactive polymers,which has potentials to be applied as soft actuators.However,few studies have been performed to investigate the mechanical responses of PVC gels in cyclic loading conditions.In this work,we combined experiments and theory to characterize the mechanical responses of two plasticized PVC gels.The gels were subjected to different types of loading-unloading-reloading cycles.The experimental results showed that the plasticized PVC gels exhibited stress softening response(the Mullins effect)in the cyclic tests.Meanwhile,the gels regained some strength after annealing at room temperature for several hours,indicating the self-healing ability of gels.We further extended the eight-chain model with incorporation of the chain dissociation and reassociation mechanism.The developed constitutive model is able to reproduce the Mullins effect and the recovery of the Mullins effect observed in the experiments.Our results clearly show that understanding the complex mechanical response is crucial for the applications of plasticized PVC gels.Ninghan Tang Dong Lei Ji Lin Yanjie Wang Rui Xiao 2021Acta Mechanica Solida Sinica2021,34,4:0
